YMCA of the Blue Water Area Reviews

My husband and I enjoy the pools every chance we get.

First time I went to the YMCA. This place is amazing. If you stop and look around, someone will be asking you if you need help. Front desk checks I.D's explains rules and they are very cooperative and accommodating. I live in a different county, but work in this county and I will be joining the YMCA.

YMCA has pool, gum, work out section, books in different corners, nice bathrooms, elevator for the little ones and elderly folks, nice view over the river, you can see Canada on the other side of river/lake, and etc.
I go here for a Bible outreach time about once a month so YMCA allows events to occur here and even allows pizza to brought in to the event.

Hopefully my opinion will change, but when I called to sign my daughter up for Bus with Gus I spoke to 2 representatives and both of them were rude, uninformative, and assumed I was a member as soon as I called. When I gave them my last name they assumed my first name, now I know who in my family IS a member now though. The flyer sent home from her school doesn't specify ANY where that I have to physically go in to register. It says they don't register through the school but I can go online or call....it also says I DONT have to be a member, the price is just different if I am. So at 41 weeks pregnant I'll drag my but in there "physically" and sort this whole thing out. Hopefully they read this before I come in and adjust their attitudes as well.

Love coming here been coming for years but the hours are terrible. Always wished it was open later

HORRIBLE, absolutely not a place you should work if you want to me a life guard because Marika will have it out for you. They don t work with sports schedules, school schedules, or if anything pops up in your life that doesn t involve work. If you work there you got to have absolutely no life. Took me off the schedule without letting me know a week later and management is horrible, the conditions are horrible, and ESPECIALLY Marika, don t know how she got a job there, don t think she knows people don t like her but yeah. Do not be a lifeguard there, absolute worst facility I ve lifeguarded at.

Nice place. Open swim is fun. The gym is big and nice. Many things to do there, but you need a membership

The monthly membership seems a little pricey. The pool is nice but the slides and kid area is on for VERY short periods of time. I like taking the little one on her days off from school but they don't adjust the times for pool equipment to run .. they only run 3 or 4 hours a day... If you guys offered the kids stuff between like 3p.m. and close that'd be good. But it's like 5 or 6...

I do enjoy the YMCA of The Blue Water Area. I only wish that if people schedule the competition pool for lap swim. That they would please keep moving in the lap lanes. No socializing with the Life Guard. I do not mind that you do your own water Areobics routine Cause I Do mine. But please keep it moving in the lane. Thank You Sincerly Yours Lurlene Nichols

One of the cleanest gyms I have ever seen in my life.
The staff is extremely friendly and always committed to maintaining cleanliness and order in the gym.
Members are well mannered and decent people. Rural America is the best of the best. God bless.

The facilities are clean and the staff is friendly. I mostly go to the wellness center, been a member three years and never been in the pool. They also have many classes and events, I ran their half marathon last summer.

The staff is really rude and strict. The place is not clean at all. Me and my friend accidentally went into the women's locker room instead of girl and then they were rude about it, like sorry but people make mistakes. #GetNewStaff

I mostly come for swimming but it can get dirty especially in the family rooms it s very gross and the staff do there best to clean but especially on open swim nights it just gets very gross.

Firstly waterslides either broke or they did not turn them on. Sprinkler area broke or they would not turn it on. When asked if they could turn them on the answer was "No". Then like magic it turned on for a maintenance guy to test it. Kids where excited and started playing with it. Only to be abruptly disappointed when it shut off. A little courtesy would have been nice. We are paying to be here..

The half hour of filling out consent forms followed by a lifeguard evaluation of kids swim ability really takes away from the time you have to be there.

It was well covered with lifeguards. 4 of the to watch 14 people in a 4 foot pool.

Staff are amazing. They keep it pretty compared to anywhere else with annual cleaning and painting. Only wish they would maintenance the basketball courts alteast every week so there is grip to play.

Terrible and so are some of your staff. Their very rude and ignorant and the vending machines don't work. Just all down bad.

The YMCA is supposed to be there for youth development but don t be a teenager employed there because Marika will have it out for you! Talk about rules and regulations! I will never go back to the ymca neither will my family after the unfair treatment these teens endure during employment! I do not recommend employment for teenagers here especially as a lifeguard! People fall asleep during their shift but still have a job! People leave their lifeguard stand and still have employment! Two young ladies conversate over rules for the pool yet they re let go for irresponsibility but yet can cover their shift the next day while infants are in the pool! Go figure! Yet bully my teenager in a room with three adults having a meeting and escorting my daughter out without contacting a parent!!! But yet the ymca is based on youth development

The place is nice i was a janitor/ custodian. The people were great. Great place to start and meet some good people when you want to work out too. Yeah some bad apples in there but the YMCA has a lot good and great apples. I mean everywhere you go you might meet a stick in the mud. But this YMCA tries its best to help anyone they can when its possible.

I called up there for a simple question that was not on the website and the person i got was very rude and told me that their is other people she had to deal with, instead of helping me with my question

The Blue Water Area YMCA is the best, I love the lazy river.

More programs than I could have believed, excited to start going!

Great people that always make you feel right at home.

Me and my friend went to dry our bathing suits in that spin dryer in the family room, did not work went to the desk lady and she said use the women's room so we went in and the lady's in there were very rude about it there was staff in there who were very rude about it to even tho we had premission. And very dirty in the family room when we went. Will not be coming back

Work out before work at least 5 days a week. Only thing I would like to see are some more free weights and a larger stretching area So we could do more dynamic workouts and abs. Very clean the staff is really friendly.

Best place in St. Clair County to work out. The facilities are very nice, and they have a variety of equipment and programs to offer. I also appreciate all the community involvement they participate in. The staff are very nice and always helpful. The only thing I would do differently is the design and size of the locker room. They are pretty small and you always are surrounded by other members who are also trying to find some space. Other than that I would definitely recommend the Y for young and old alike.

This is the greatest place ever locker rooms clean gym excellent pool nice. Staff is amazing.

Did not enjoy my experience what so ever, steam room was broken, had to leave the pool do to fecal matter, and the machine to dry your cloths was inoperable

Equipment and facilities are the best in the county. The swimming pools are top notch along with a great group of lifeguards.

When I was an employee here as a lifeguard the management did not treat us good whatsoever. Most of the lifeguards working there are teenagers with their first jobs and the management there did not make this a good first experience. Way too strict and not so caring towards their staff. Talk about teen development...

I really enjoy the new YMCA my family and I go there a lot more now.
