I used to love our YMCA but unfortunately this pandemic showed us the true about the San Diego YMCA leadership. The YMCA was supposed to be there for the community but the San Diego YMCA leadership couldn t care less about the community. They are making terrible decisions that are impacting and ruining the local branches. I wish our local YMCA would have autonomy from the Corporate office and could be back to what it was, helping and providing for our neighborhood. Seeing the YMCA going down like this is terribly sad.

Please update your online calendar to reflect the correct time for classes at the Peninsula Y. Specifically, it lists yoga classes on Sunday at 12 and 1pm; when they are actually held at 12:30 and 1:30pm. I would prefer to not wait around for 30 min. because you neglected to update your calendar.

Mission Valley, CA Location - YMCA

Don't email customer service via their website, and they took weeks to get back to me to cancel my membership which then went past my billing date to make sure they got another month of fees out of us.

It took them weeks and still to this day no reply back as of email my September 4, 2018 email. They had to go back and forth between Kaysi Howington their Department Head & their customer service person, Araceli Alejandre; which is Member Engagement Director to make a decision, why?

I had filed a dispute with American Express to get a refund and cancel my services. I was planning on returning, both my wife and I but after this horrible customer service experience we will not be returning, and we are going to tell people about our experience.

What an enormous waste of time to cancel a simple monthly membership. No one should have to be subjected to making multiple phone calls, emails, etc to cancel a membership; this is 2018!

Why not let your members click a button to pause or cancel their membership?

What a waste of membership dollars to have to engage multiple people to cancel a membership.

How about YOU make it easy for me to do business with you?

Sounds crazy right?

The culture is one of how much can we squeeze of our members and make it a pain the butt to cancel their membership, you need a new customer experience plan because the current one sucks!

Basically about the Santee location. I have written to both the corporate office as well as left comments at the Santee Y regarding the water aerobics program and have never received a response. In speaking with many members at my Y we joined mainly for the water aerobics, which has diminished tremendously over the past several years. We used to have classes four night a week as well as many in the mornings. In other words, something for everyone! Now there is but one class in the evening and our favorite instructor just left. Many of us have stayed loyal through all of the renovations, pool closures, closed locker rooms, and canceled classes. Enough is enough and now you're raising the membership fees. We asked for reduced fees during all of the pool mishaps with no results. I asked to suspend my membership with no fees while we had no locker rooms; no response. I think the Santee Y needs to make its focus clear because we cannot figure it out. It is certainly not the Active Older Adults! I still love the family focus, but some of us do not have a family and deserve better.

Camp Surf was a bust that cost me nearly $500 to ride 7 hours on a bus from AZ, then spend 2 days watching my daughter NOT be able to even enter the water, because bacterial pollution due to sewage problems from Mexico. This has been a long-standing problem in this area; yet no one disclosed it. News articles I found indicate this area s beaches were actually closed 50% of the time in 2018! Even when Camp Surf staff decided to take the girls surfing (the morning we were slated to leave), my daughter was unwilling to step into that nasty ocean and I didn t blame her.

While visiting the YMCA in San Diego (from Florida) in July we had a fantastic experience all month long. I was very impressed by how personable, friendly and professional the staff was at the Encinitas location. What a gem that place is. The parking lot was almost always full, but that's because of all the great programs. Keep up the great works!
