Wonderful center! The staff is in my opinion, highly educated and great with kids. I have never had issues with this center and my son loves going to "school". I also appreciate the fact that they use a curriculum and really prepare the kids for prep school or Kindergarten. I would highly recommend this center. I actually drive 30 minutes out of my way everyday just to keep my son enrolled there.

Contacted the Head office for the YMCA today regarding fees for summer camp. Fees were vague and unclear as represented by the website. When I spoke with female representative about it, she told me that if I wanted the exact price for member rates, I needed to go through the FAQs page and its the only place that has the actual price listed. She was rude and abrasive when trying to find information about the program. I expressed my unhappiness with a lack of a real listing of the actual price and her response was that it is what it is and if I didn't like it, I could just give up my children's slots and let someone else have it. I have been a member of the YMCA for over a decade, traveling to locations all over the United States and even in other countries like Kelowna, BC and I have never received such distasteful service as I have by the San Antonio YMCA. To be strong-armed into taking the price or nothing at all with zero empathy is not why we chose the YMCA. We choose the YMCA because it is family friendly and values its members as family, but it may be better to just be a member of Golds for this type of service.

I feel like my children get a head start with education. My oldest before getting to pre-k already knew how to count, ABC's, colors, and great interaction with instructors as well as other children. The same goes for my 2 year old he is starting to count on his own, he mentions his colors well, he also knows the beginning of the alphabet.
I haven't had an issue with learning center on Southcross. The staff has been great with both my children. I would definitely recommend.

Everyone at the center is very friendly and inviting. I know my daughter is always well taken care of. The staff knows my daughter by name and everyone greets her in the morning and says goodbye to her when she leaves. The classes are well managed and educational. They encourage the families to come participate in activities they are hosting and it feels like a small family. We live 25 minutes away and although we could move to a closer child care center, we choose to stay here because we know our daughter is loved, taken care of, and excelling in her education. Something that is very important to us in consistency. We have seen the same child care givers since she began at the center at 2 (4.5 now). Her old teachers still say hello to her and check in with us as we come in. It s nice to have the same teachers and says a lot about the facility as an employer as well. We will be sad to leave when our daughter starts school!

The staff at the YMCA really care about the environment they make for kids enrolled in classes, and many o them have their own kids enrolled. Our kid loved his teacher, got lots of direct interaction, learned how to deal with the rules and structure of a school day, and got plenty of time to play outside and make friends.

One thing I was not satisfied with was during field trips the children were NOT buckled! No car seats were available. One field trip was to Seaworld, which I did not allow my children to attend due to the distance. This is a HUGE safety issue! My children were not able to enjoy these moments during their time at the program and I had to still pay for the day they missed AND pay someone else to watch my children for that day and every day a field trip was scheduled. The staff was friendly and helpful to provide my children speech therapy by preparing a referral. The speech therapist would come to the center for every visit/session.

I just want to say my 3 children grew up with the YMCA daycare on Southcross. I don' think that I can every trust anyone with my kids as much as I do now every since Mari became director of the YMCA. My 9 and 5 year old when it was time for them to start Kinder they were ready and prepared because Jeanette in Preschool 1 helps get them ready for what is coming up for school. My 18 month is still attending and he knows so much already it amazes me on how he has learned everything from small words, when its time to stop and put toys away, to understanding what we are telling him. Everyday I come to work in ease knowing my baby is in good hand. Thank you to Mari,Cindy,Jeanette O, Brianna, Mary, Amanda, Jeannette , and everyone else I may have forgot to mention. Keep up the great work!

YMCA CAMPS ARE THE BEST! IF I COULD GIVE 6-STARS, I WOULD!

Love the camaraderie encouraged by the staff, the friendliness of the staff, the genuine and sincere care and concern they have for my child and all of the children, and the overall general inclusion and acceptance for my special needs son. They always acknowledge us EVERY YEAR, even if we haven't seen them for months! They make us feel like VIPs, and the staff truly listens to the hints and tips for working with my son, and they have always been successful! I have recommended this summer camp to other parents with special needs children...I am truly grateful for everyone at the DR Semmes YMCA location, as well as formerly at Bonham Academy. Excellent program...excellent staff...excellent facility...

Great daycare , professional personnel and most important Care Givers that like what they do and really take care of our children. I have a 14 year old , a 10 year old and a toddler; all 3 have attended at the Y at Southcross their first years of their lives. It is really hard to trust your kids to somebody, but I really recommend this place 100% for sure !
