Not recommended except for the location. The mattress was unreasonable.

I got to be really good friends with one of the cashiers at the little kiosk downstairs which made the experience at YMCA better. But the AC was dirty and weird stuff started flying out of it. The window was also quite disgusting. The floor near the door, had some yellow fluid, and it was just dirty near the door. The bathrooms were fine, the only problem was just the privacy. We had to go to another floor for better privacy, but still felt uncomfortable taking showers. Anyways, I am giving it 2 stars.
this is junk hotel, not healthy, noisy, not respectful staff, & most of all no one cares about you since you never get a refund!
so, save your health and money and go book with any other hotel, any other hotel would be better than this POS!
The advantage of this place is that it is very central to everything, the rooms are very small but the service is good although there are shared bathrooms.
Small rooms, but what do you want for this price and this location. Beds are great and air conditioning works well. Furthermore, the showers are nice and everything is also clean. Only thing is that you have to wait before you can check in a long time.
Highly recommended, Excellent attention! A place very well located, very comfortable, clean. The facilities of wonder. The only thing I could mention for improvement, is that my window was very hard, but I clarified that I asked for help and in less than five minutes a person was at my door ready to help me. I only have compliments. My experience was very pleasant, so I liked that when I moved to other cities I kept my room for 21 days. If I returned to NY I would stay there again without hesitation.
Overall, it's not that bad. The position is great and the price is very decent for being in Manhattan. It's very close to the 5th Avenue and Time Square, you can reach a lot of places just by walking. It's also kind of close to the subway. The rooms are very small, not very comfortable, but the bed is ok. It's not that clean, I found hair all around the room, but the bathroom looked very clean. At night, I could not sleep well because of the noise of the fridge, basically 40 cm from my face. The employees are all very polite and helpful if you need help, and it's very cool that they offer a lot of services, from sauna to the swimming pool. They also offer, if booked, a service for the airports. Be careful with the elevator, I remained locked in, along with other customers, for several minutes, it was a very bad experience. Helpful and supercheap the service for luggage deposit (2 dollars each per day). Overall, the entire facility is not old, kind of new in some of the services offered, but they do not provide a breakfast service. There's only a room with tables to relax a bit and take a coffee (bought in another place). Overall, I would come back again, but just for one or two night.
The price was very afford for this time of the year. The location was excellent. The showers only had cold water. I didn't know they don't stock wash cloths. I had to call to get the bathroom code. The beds were uncomfortable. I didn't feel safe climbing the bunk bed. It's a very convenient place, especially if you're on a budget. But it's best to save up and go elsewhere. I've stayed in better hostels.
In summary avoided !!!
We arrive at the reception we pay $ 10 tax per night per room
Then we see that our room is on the 11th floor facing the three elevators
I pass the card to open the door and the door does not open you have to force your foot to open it because it gets stuck against the door jamb, impossible for my girlfriend to open it (a piece of wood c 'is torn out by force) all the doors are like that I won't explain the noise it makes knowing that there are around 100 rooms upstairs (one morning a person got stuck in his room because the door swelled we break part of the door to open it)
Once in the room we have a desk a chair a small fridge a double bed old air conditioning in the window with a radiator below
We can see the noise of air conditioning outside the building ... we can hear everything in the room no insulation! So really impossible to sleep without earplugs! Even with you can hear very loud noise.
The next day we see a shared bathroom per floor with three showers and three toilets, for men rather clean with what is needed but for women a hs shower with a nice hs toilet at peak hours and very dirty for women. mold women all over the place! The cleaning must be done once a day knowing that about 200 people pass there per day super! No toilet paper, the water is too hot and the temperature cannot be regulated
The only good thing about the location and the view we had but everything else is REALLY awful hope you are a very heavy sleeper and getting tired!
The staff I have no opinion on because I am not talking to them.
Finally I did a lot of hotel and c the worst I could have I stayed there for a week I hesitated to hand over 1000 to change hotel and lose the 960 $ for 6 nights thank you to my earplugs made to measure which allowed me to sleep a little!
A great facility and a staple in the community. They're doing their best to stay on top of regular cleaning throughout the day.
Youth hostel Very well located (right next to Central Park and close to Colombus Circus) - the rooms are not big but they are well used, and the bathrooms -common- are clean. It's quiet. An economical and good solution. And they have a slogan to leave your bags the day you leave
We have slept 3 nights out there. I Employees were courteous. The room was well maintained but the showers.
My stay was great my room wasn't ready so they upgraded me to a room with a private bathroom. Very nice!
Stayed here for a week in a room with 3 other guys. Beds were firm and comfortable, sometimes they would have sirens over the intercom at 3am to practice fire drills, which we all thought was kind of weird. Room had a leaky fridge, lock box, and a tv. The gym, pool, and facilities are really nice if thats something you re looking for. There is no kitchen area you can use, so if you arent looking to eat out every night, you might be better off booking an airbnb.
My expectations were low due to various reviews. So I'm all the more pleased that it's much better than expected.
The staff is always friendly, the shared bathroom is clean and absolutely sufficient for a hostel, beds are made daily and fresh towels are put in the room.
During the day and at night it is (apart from the ventilation / heating) quiet, you hardly hear other guests.
The bed is quite hard, but that's exactly how I find it comfortable. The only disadvantage: the bed squeaks extremely and movements on the mattress are passed on (stupid with a double bed). Nevertheless, I am very satisfied with the price and the location of the YMCA and can recommend the hostel, provided you have ear plugs in mind.
Probably the best gym in NYC. Sure Equinox is better if you can dish out $250 a month. This is family friendly and has everything you need to work out, including a pool.
Can t beat the location, but the facilities for the GYM members are in despair, shower facilities are disgusting, the mold and dirty terrible!
P.S:
I ll upgrade this review as if they do something.
It is totally different from the picture and it looks like a prison room. There is no toilet in the room, and the bathroom has only a curtain if there is no locker. It is also difficult to understand the location of the bathroom
Dirty and poorly maintained.
In theory it was a room with a shower and it really is a shared shower and toilet. The "good thing" according to them is that I can lock the door while I'm inside alone.
The air conditioning makes a horrible noise.
Yesterday they left me some clean sheets (in theory), and when I unfolded them, a couple of smooth and very long black hairs came out ... obviously they were not mine.
The cockroach I found today on the ground running around ...
Today I found a spider in the sink.
The only good thing: the location.
Never to return. It pays to pay just a little more and stay somewhere decent.
Run away while you can.
Relatively clean rooms, the washrooms are frequently cleaned so that, in total, the cleanliness remains, it must be taken into account that the bathrooms are not inside the room !!!
The rooms are very small and the beds are uncomfortable, because there are a lot of people in the room - waiting for the desk can take a long time,
They have luggage storage service - done efficiently and courteously
The rooms are small and hot, the mattresses quite hard, and the (shared) showers and toilets could be a lot better.
Personnel is very friendly though, and hey, you don't sleep here to relax, but to explore New York! And for that, you couldn't pick a better location.
This is probably the best YMCA in the city for swimming. Small pool for todlers and big pool for adults swimming with for lanes.
One of the worst experience ever! One bathroom for 75 rooms (9th floor) Window in my room was broken and i had huge hole in the window where the AC is. Bathrooms were dirty and there was always a line. Beds are so uncomfortable to the point that is better to sleep on the floor. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT GO THERE! It's better to pay 100$ more and have something decent.
The location is very good, there are many subways or nearby restaurants and dining cars.
The bathroom is on the floor, the floor we live in is shared by the bath toilet.
Too many people in the day can go to the gym to take a shower or go to the toilet.
The room is quite comfortable
High cp value by region
Good location. It s worth.
Excellent location. Good price. Very quiet, safe and convenient.
I traveled alone and it worked well for me. I do not know about other circumstances. The photos are from the 8th floor.
It worth it's price. Great location e good service.
I was assaulted in my hotel room by creepy man on my first night. I didn't have my wits about me and it should have had the chain on the door. Do think there needs to be warning signs about having the doors locked and answering to stranges.
It's fun to stay at YMCA!
As we entered the lobby area, we knew that this hostel would be something special. It all looked pretty modern and that made me a little sad because I love old hotels! But soon I should be made happy. We took the elevator to the ninth floor and a reconstruction of the prison island of Alcatraz opened in front of us. I was so excited by the colors and especially by the smell that my stomach decided to stop the digestive process and then tried to bring the food to be digested back into daylight. Thankfully without success. But I have to say that my vomit would have done nicely next to the urine in the corridor ...
My friends told me staying at YMCA would be great fun ... they were wrong!
With these and other words we were greeted on the fragrant toilet. To spare the furnishings, we tried not to touch anything and prefer to use the Starbucks toilet. Since Starbucks does not have showers, we had a great opportunity to take a shower in the YMCA! I love it when a cold stream of water, the temperature of which can not be changed, runs down my spine.
Do you really want to stay in the YMCA because you want to save money? With pleasure! Then I'll give you the following tip on the way: Sleep in clothes and take disinfectants! This is the only way to avoid a rash.
Very small rooms, uncomfortable. I touch myself with a bunk and it seems that the bed above falls at any moment. Air running and frigobar. Very good location, in front of the central park. Shared bathrooms, hard to find any released in the peak
