It is always one of my go to winery whenever I visit Yarra valley. Due to covid, they are now offering sit down tasting. I have spent some good time drinking their wine and chatting with friends. You won't disappointed with their wine.

This was my favorite winery in the Yarra and I took my friends and some visitors from OS and interstate who appreciate wine to experience the celler door. Ive always had great service and loved the times Ive visted so was quite upset this time when we we're treated so rudely when we arrived.
After being told they we're busy the lady said she would allow 6 of us to taste even though normally 6 needs a booking. The others had to wait outside, we thought at that point to leave but the wines are great so we stayed.
We we're rushed through the tasting, not explained anything about the wine and genuinly made to feel like we were worthless.
I went with the intent to add to my current collection of Yarra Yering wines im cellering but after what happened I was embarrassed I had recommended the winery and told everyone how amazing it was for them to be made to feel so horrible. Its the first time I've left without buying anything and now my wines im saving for special occassions in my collection suddenly dont seem to have the good memories they once had. I may go back and hope its just this one particular lady but its made me sad for a winery I once loved so much.

Great wines, amazing venue, but what a shame about their business adaptations to the covid pandemic.

Previously you could experience the cellar door magic and taste the amazing wines with a fair and reasonable tasting fee, refundable upon purchase. Unfortunately now, rather than showcasing a spectacular variety of Yarra Valley wine (and encouraging you to try then buy), their cellar door has turned into you forking out an excessive (non-refundable on purchase) amount for a glorified tasting paddle, essentially killing off the cellar door experience in the process.

I ve always believed in buying direct from the winery, never minded paying for a refundable cellar door tasting, and loved this place for what they offer. But if you want to try their wine, you re now much better off buying a bottle from a retailer than making the trip out there, which in my opinion is a real shame for the area.

Yarra Yering is a jewel amongst the many great vineyards to visit in the Yarra Valley. A long and well established reputation for age worthy and outstanding wines has been taken forward by the great work by the award winning and very humble and approachable Sarah Crowe who retains the great heritage while adding her own distinctive imprints on the extensive and fabulous range of wines available. Add to that the great job that Jenine and the team do at cellar door to welcome and share the wines with visitors and you have a must visit location if you love wine or are just starting that wonderful journey!!!!!

If you only have the ability to visit one winery in the Yarra Valley, please make it Yarra Yering. The staff is unbelievable, and you won't find better wine. You can spend hours staring out of the window in the tasting room, and while it's potentially pricier than some other tastings in the region - once you try the wine, it makes sense. If you're going to make a purchase, and I suggest you do, go for the Dry Red Wine No. 2 (2009) - it's well worth it.

Wines are good but absolutely no excuse for the way the staff act. Pompous is a polite description. It s a lovely location. You d think the staff (one lady in particular) would be happier working there. Despite the quality of their product, my guests and I left the building with a bad taste in our mouth. I never plan to return, purchase their wine or recommend this winery to others. Such a shame.

This is a beautiful and beautiful winery, but it is indeed a super-service winery! At the top, look at the scenery!
After arriving at the winery, we entered the wine tasting room. There is a sign on the right side of the gate that allows us to wait at the door. We haven't dealt with us for 20 minutes, let alone ask! When we get permission to enter, the waiter loses the paper and lets you fill in the purchase quantity yourself, and the introduction of the wine is like this! We have eight people, and we have four people in the bathroom. As a result, the waiters are not happy! Always think about the people you want to go and experience it yourself! There is more than one winery nearby, no need to look for it! I don't know if this is a look down or I feel that the Chinese are having difficulty communicating! Communication and hard tongue should not use language? Is it so difficult to be polite?

I didn't actually get to enjoy this winery tasting because of a terribly rude encounter with staff upon arrival. When I arrived their outside door handle had not threaded properly and permitted me to turn it infinitely in both directions (a problem that happens with old doors on occasion). In response to this I knocked on the door and I expected staff to simply open it and let me and my party in. Instead, a young woman opened the door, clearly annoyed, and said to us in the most patronising fashion I have perhaps ever experienced "Turn!"

Rather than sarcastically thanking her for teaching me how a door worked (I'm a grown man you awful wretch) we simply turned and walked back to our car and headed to our next stop at Oakridge, a winery where we have had nothing but wonderful experiences on 3 visits to the region now. I spent nearly $2,000 on wine that day (I'm aware this is not a grand fortune but I suspect the owners of Yarra Yering might have been interested in my business). It is truly a shame that when you treat someone so rudely you lose them as a customer. I encourage this winery to have a conversation with their staff about what business they're in (pro tip: it's service oriented sales).

The wines were very good, but please don't treat your guests so poorly. Reading other reviews I know that I was not the only one who felt I was been treated with something akin to disdain. The tasting fee is $15 or $20 with back vintages. Oldest commercial vineyard in the Yarra Valley and some good wine to sample. Very nice facility and setting overlooking the vineyards - what I didn't like was the attitude of the person presenting the wines, aloof and somewhat condescending. This let the overall experience down and I left the property feeling annoyed. I have a reasonable knowledge of wines and was unimpressed with this experience, despite the quality of the wine. Not the way to treat a guest to the cellar door.

Ignore all the sooks crying about bad service. If people bothered to research a winery before visiting, they'd clearly understand that there are no walk ins for groups over 6. Not exactly calculus.
This is the best wine in Victoria. Enjoy it.

This is my favourite wine tasting in the Yarra Valley so far. It's a much more personal wine tasting experience than most on offer in the Yarra Valley. Come here if you are really looking to appreciate the wine you are tasting. You must book ahead of time because spaces are limited and because the hosts spend more time taking you through the wine. It's about $30 pp for the tasting and the wines are more expensive here (most of the reds are over $100 per bottle) but it's worth it. The samples are generous and the wine is beautiful. Plus you don't feel rushed, it's not crowded and noisy so it's very relaxed and the setting overlooking the vines is stunning. You get your own table and the hosts are very knowledgeable and will take the time to answer your questions. My wife and I loved it!

Delicious, ignore the bad reviews about staff, they know their wines. The price represents the quality and at $110 for a world class pinot its well worth it if you know your wines. Best wines in Yarra Valley by far.

This place has some of the nicest wines in the Yarra Valley. Keep in mind they are not cheap and there is a fee for tasting. I think the fact there is a fee to try the wine might explain the negative reviews. There is no food or bar, you come here to try and buy wine. Dont come for a free drink and you wont get rude treatment.

Hidden treasure!
We were on the way back to the main road from one of the other winery when we found Yarra Yering, the best decision ever was to stop by and have a look. the wines are amazing - though quite expensive.
We all love it, not sure why the reviews are only 4.0, so far the best wine.

Lovely location and the wine is pretty outstanding (thus the price). The staff seem like they have been taking too much valium, very hard to get a smile out of them. Granted it's a pretty boring job, but its probably not a great approach in a sales environment.

For $10 each we got to taste approximately 10 different wines. The lady explained the different wines and told us about the vineyard. The setting was pretty and peaceful, as well. And there was no pressure to buy any wine, though we could have bought some if we wanted to.

Lovely location and my friends tell me great wines. I wouldn t know as we turned up thinking we had a booking (unfortunately I had made a mistake as
we had booked Yering Station). We arrived and no one was around at all. Place was completely empty. We spoke to a lady and advised we had a group larger than 6. The lady (wish I got her name, medium brown hair and short) who was attending tasting area was extremely rude and advised that she coudn t accomodate more than 6 as it was so busy and fully booked. 3 of us were ok to leave, because she was extremely rude about the situation. We hung outside and no one turned up. Not one person! My other friends who stayed on for tastings said she took everyone through tastings without explaining wines. We had people from Hong Kong and Perth there who had questions but the lady responded as if she was doing them a favour in assisting. Overall it was the worst experience we have ever had at a winery ever. We went to Coombe and Chandon (without bookings) after and they were amazing.
My tip: hire more personable people. Had it not been a horrid experience from the start we would have purchased bottles. The winery missed on minimum $1000 of income.
They could have accommodated a couple of more people as no one arrived at all and the winery was empty.
On another note - thanks for saving us money that allowed us to spend money at Coombe and Chandon.
Recommendation to others - pretty place but DO
NOT BOTHER!

About Yarra Yering Vineyards

Yarra Yering Vineyards: A Winery That Offers Wines of Extraordinary Depth and Intensity

If you are a wine enthusiast, then you must have heard about Yarra Yering Vineyards. This winery is located in the heart of the Yarra Valley, one of Australia's most renowned wine regions. The winery has been producing some of the finest wines in Australia for over 50 years.

The vineyard was established by Dr. Bailey Carrodus in 1969, who was a pioneer in the Australian wine industry. He had a vision to create wines that were unique and reflected the terroir of the region. Today, his legacy lives on through his son, David Carrodus, who continues to produce exceptional wines that are highly sought after by wine lovers around the world.

At Yarra Yering Vineyards, they believe that great wines start with great grapes. They have carefully selected their vineyard sites to ensure that they get the best possible fruit for their wines. The winery produces a range of varietals including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

One thing that sets Yarra Yering Vineyards apart from other wineries is their commitment to traditional winemaking techniques. They use open fermenters and hand-plunge their reds to ensure maximum flavour extraction from the grapes. Their whites are barrel fermented using wild yeast which gives them a unique character.

The cellar door at Yarra Yering Vineyards is an unforgettable experience for any wine lover. You can taste their award-winning wines while taking in stunning views of the surrounding valley from their terrace or picnic area.

Their flagship wine is called "Dry Red No 1". It's a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz which has been aged for up to 18 months in French oak barrels before being bottled unfiltered and unfined. This wine has won numerous awards over the years including "Wine Of The Year" at James Halliday's Wine Companion Awards.

Another standout wine from this vineyard is their Chardonnay called "Underhill". It's made using fruit from vines planted back in 1975 which gives it incredible depth and complexity.

In addition to producing exceptional wines, Yarra Yering Vineyards also takes sustainability seriously. They use organic farming practices wherever possible and have implemented water-saving measures throughout their vineyard operations.

In conclusion, if you're looking for an unforgettable cellar door experience or just want to try some truly exceptional Australian wines then look no further than Yarra Yeing Vineyards! Their commitment to quality and traditional winemaking techniques make them stand out among other Australian wineries as one not-to-be-missed destination on your next trip down under!
