Booked afternoon tea with friend for her birthday , rang ahead to restaurant to confirm that she is a vegetarian and only liked tuna /cucumber or cheese sandwiches. We arrived that day and she was served ham tomato sausage rolls and salmon. After waiting over an hour she was served 4 tiny triangle dry cheese and lettuce sandwiches. I wrote to the restaurant manager who practically accused me of not ordering the sandwiches in the first place. Its a shame such a beautiful place treats its guests this way.

A lovely place and the rooms are spacious. We went on a special Sunday night deal and our room was very good - only drawback it wasn't overlooking the lake! The steak was delicious. The staff brilliant and friendly. The drinks were a bit expensive though.

Really enjoyed my stay. The grounds are lovely to walk around and so peaceful. The hotel itself is pretty spectacular and retains its features and charms from when it was a country hall. The staff were great, friendly and welcoming without being over-the-top. I had dinner and breakfast and would highly recommend both. I can't wait to stay here again!

I feel like there is a little bit of something for everyone here. The grounds and the hall themselves are beautiful, the spa offers lots of great treatments and between the hall and the Grand Marquee you can hold almost any kind of event.

We were blessed with good sunny weather to explore the beautiful grounds.. a pleasure to walk around and so much to see.
Quite costly tho, to purchase items and gifts.
Cafe and restaurant.
I personally ate in the garden cafe with my group of friends and could not fault it. Scones, cakes, good choice, included dairy and gluton free. We had hot drinks on arrival, i had hot chocolate as no latte coffee. Staff quite helpful and pleasant.
We headed back there too, to have our lunch, lasagne and garlic bread really tasty but garlic bread hard. Then i had a christmas mince pie and tea, cost 11.00 good price i felt.
I had another hot choclate later before leaving. Total i spent was 15.00 on my refreshments all day. Afternoon tea for 2, was advertised at 9.00. In the garden cafe. Some others had afternoon tea in the main restaurent in the hall and were deeply disappointed and unable to eat most of it, although they did say the scones were good. Cost of that was 24.50 per head. Sadly they complained.. there were other places offering snacks but i cant comment but did see people tucking into food in the christmas teepees. Overall a supurb day out...

Visited the Christmas fare..was very busy and cramped in marquee and couldn't really see everything on stalls..also rest of fare was spread out and was a lot of walking which wasn't good for my 80 year old mother..however having said that it was a lovely atmosphere and the main hall is a beautiful building so we did enjoy the visit..

Booked a meal as desperate to escape lockdown. The food was appalling. Only fried food available, burgers, fish and chips, steak with over cooked greasy flavour chips etc. If they were nice burgers I would have no hesitation in paying but it was a smoke and mirrors, Lovely environment, attentive staff with cheap food at an expensive price. Go elsewhere as wynyard hall is not the place to go to eat at the moment. I am not blaming the chef, no doubt they are being told what is in the menu.

Nice place but totally empty neglected atmosphere about the place,no draught beer or lager at all and still have not opened the restaurant so continental breakfast left on a tray outside of your room, cold croissants,no toast either or grapefruit, oranges ect, staff not willing or prevented from warming croissants or making some toast.I recommend avoiding this place at present you will be very disappointed I am sure.

Lovely old fashioned rooms with high ceiling, proper door key, tastefully decorated and adorned. Set in beautiful surroundings. Extremely clean, quiet and comfortable with everything you require including iron and fan. Friendly and helpful staff. All over highly satisfactory. I would certainly recommend it for a peaceful getaway.

My husband and I were bought a prosecco and gentleman s afternoon tea as a gift.
We decided to keep them for the summertime so we could stay at the hotel and enjoy a relaxing time, food and some drinks, without having to worry about driving. However when summertime came my sister was diagnosed with cancer stage 4 and was given months to live. This was a huge bombshell in our lives. We both work long hrs and every day that we got off work was spent with my sister as we knew we didn t have a long time left with her before she passed.
This horrible day came about on 22nd November.
We had never thought about these vouchers through the traumatic experience we were going through but I knew we didn t have much time to contact Wynyard to try to arrange something with them.
When I rang the hotel I explained that our intention was to come to stay a night or two and make a weekend of it but because of our tragic circumstances we were unable to have that pleasure. I asked if it was possible to maybe extend our vouchers into the new year so we could still use them and stay at the hotel. This stay would mean we would have to pay for 1 or 2 nights accommodation and food and drinks. Thus generating a few extra hundred pounds revenue for the hotel but, went I plucked up the courage in my grief to ask, I was bluntly told we can only extend your voucher for 1 wk !! Not at any time was any condolences passed or sympathy shown for our loss.
I asked if I could speak to a duty manager and I was told they would call me later in the day or the next day. I am still waiting.
Today we visited the hotel had our afternoon teas and left. We sat eating our teas still grieving my deceased sister but we had to use them before 25th December and couldn t fit it in any other time.
I think extending the voucher was of no expense to the hotel at all. I also feel that if I had been passed to a compassionate member of staff or management the hotel would have a decent extra slice of revenue.
I hope your staff never feel the way our family have felt in the last few whirlwind months. Shame on them.

Visited for frozen on ice, not enough penguins for everyone and wasn't an option to pre book online before hand unless I missed this option. Was a bit ruined by fact that my little boy had to wear proper ice boots due to foot size while other kids in our group had the ones which fit over shoes so unfortunately he couldn't stand up and I'm nit the best at skating either so was a lot of crying.
