One of WHO's primary roles is to provide leadership in global health responses. This includes responding to outbreaks of infectious diseases such as Ebola, Zika virus disease, and COVID-19. In Indonesia specifically, WHO has been working closely with local authorities to respond to outbreaks such as avian influenza (bird flu) and dengue fever.

WHO also plays a key role in promoting universal healthcare coverage (UHC). This means ensuring that everyone has access to quality healthcare services without suffering financial hardship. In Indonesia specifically where there are still challenges related access especially for those living in remote areas or those who cannot afford it due poverty or lack insurance coverage.
To achieve this goal ,WHO works with national governments like Indonesia’s Ministry of Health by providing technical assistance on policy development ,health financing mechanisms ,strengthening primary care services among others .
