Don't let the one star reviews of the wait system ...

Don't let the one star reviews of the wait system doubt the awesomeness of this place. Yes the place is small, but that's because they focus on quality over quantity. The waiting system/line system is very straight forward. You show up, put your name and phone number in a virtual line and then if you wish, you leave. The restaurant is close enough to downtown that you can go see the sights while you wait, or even get some errands done. They text with a 15-20 window for you to get back to restaurant to claim your table.
The service is amazing.
The food is outstanding.
The decor is entertaining.
Great place that is worth the wait and with a little planning ahead you can make your visit super successful.

Great food, incredible portions, wonderful service. Only downsides: not much parking, long waits for seating, and - for me - hours of operation that don't coincide too well with my work schedule.

The best place in Salem. There is always a wait to be seated, but that's okay for this amazing atmosphere. Service is top class, cocktails are beautiful and taste amazing, and the food is delivered with a large portion size and a unique restaurant feel.

Local Tip: Go by yourself. Almost always able to sit at the bar right away.

Long wait, service was less than attentive when sitting in the front corner next to the waiting room. Food was very good, great bacon, good biscuit, good gravy, fried chicken was crunchy and held up to the rest of the biscuit. Sausage patties were hand made and we'll cooked, but I didn't love the flavor. Good hollandaise and great steak. I'd go back.

Long wait times, expect an hour + wait even on a Wednesday morning. That's the only negative about this place. The servers are friendly and accommodating, the food is reasonable priced and quite tasty. Their bacon is the most amazing bacon of all time, it's heavenly and will transport you into another breakfast ridden world right where you sit. And I appreciate that their sides of fruit are the real deal- none of that cantaloupe and honeydew melon stuff here.

A must come if you live in or are visiting Salem Oregon. The menu is extensive and imaginative. Portions run on the bigger side and the customer service is phenomenal but unfortunately even with a restaurant that seems like it can do no wrong, it does have some flaws. The wait times can be exhausting. Typically anywhere for 20 minutes to an hour. The food tends to run on the expensive side. Last time I came here I spent over $20 on just my meal alone. Seating is limited and tight, so be ready to over hear someone else's conversation. Even with these flaws, Word of Mouth is a must. Just make sure you have time to spare and a little extra cash .

Worth the money for sure. Even if it was long waiting. Also, I was disappointed with other drunkards who showed up and ordered a full plate yet ate almost none of it. Seems like a waste of a good food that they cooked. Maybe should add no drunkards allowed!

Had an amazing breakfast with family,I had a bloody Mary to start, it was flavorful and spicy, yum!! Followed by biscuits and gravy along side rustic corned beef hash, everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly, we shared an order of bacon, and my mom got the filet mignon hash with creme brulee french toast. There is always a line here for a reason!

Honestly, I've been looking forward to trying this place for a year, since I moved to Salem. But upon our arrival at 10:00 AM on a Wednesday, after having to street-park a block and a half away, we found a FULL foyer of waiting guests. Someone who came in behind us was allowed to put in her name ahead of us. And we were advised it would be a 45 minute wait for a table. On a *Wednesday!* Let me know when you move out of your "cozy" house and have a real restaurant, and I'll try again. #disappointed

Anytime that my wife and I come down from Portland to the Salem area, we ether stop for a bite to eat or end up reflecting about the good food that we have had here. The portions are large but I'm not complaining because its a large portion of good tasting food. The French Toast Crembula is worth trying since it is so unique and tastes great. I would defiantly recommend.
Only down fall, you may have to wait outside for a long time since they have limited space to sit people and the popularity draws in a big crowd from time to time. It's hit or miss on the busyness during tradition peak hours.

Unbelievably good quality, from small details like the coffee to important things such as frying the potatoes and making a good hollandaise sauce. This restaurant has done everything right especially the bacon. Now you do have to park about a block away and the quarters are extremely cramped, but it's worth it to eat this food.
Visa And Master Cards are accepted (others I don't know)

Decor: Nightmarish. Sorry to be dramatic, but at least it was all dust-free. Stuff EVERYWHERE. May not have been so bad if the women's room wasn't like an ACTUAL nightmare. Check out the video of it I posted if you want aesthetic specifics. The fact that they have the same "meeting in the ladies room" song on repeat must be a tactic to keep people from staying in there too long. Someone thinks that bathroom is awesome, but that someone is not me.

First: It is worth it, but be prepared for a possible 90 minute wait. I can't say it always takes this long. This was our first visit and we did have a party of 7 but the nice lady working the door was suggesting similar waits to smaller parties. Despite living an hour away we'll still come back.

My filet mignon Benedict was done on the potatoes since I'm gluten free. Strongly recommend trying them that way. Friend said her French toast was best of her life. And the bacon was so tasty we questioned whether they had fresh pigs in the back yard.

Been here twice now and it was exceptional every time. A friend took me, saying it was his favorite place. I see why! I requested strawberries with my pancakes and the chef was so sweet - she sent out a special cream she had made up for a special on a different day that made my pancakes like strawberry shortcake. It was heaven <3

Amazing service, food and atmosphere. The wait was 1.5 hours, but we were able to put our names down, then go run errands until we received a text letting us know our table would be ready in about 10 mins, giving us plenty of time to head back to the restaurant. The portions are huge and the food is delicious. It was completely worth the wait in my opinion.

One of our all time favorite breakfast spots! We're from San Jose, CA...and we've made Word of Mouth Bistro part of our annual pilgrimage to Salem. Generous portions of delicious, well presented and creative breakfast selections. Outstanding service. Simply one of the best breakfast spots there is.

Their bacon is to die for. Thick and cooked to liking. The cinnamon pancakes with cream cheese style icing...huge and delicious. Any change to an order is no problem. We love to do take out too. Sometimes the wait can be 2 hours, but they take your phone number and text you your wait position...so you always know. Great place. Great food. The cinnamon roll pan cake was to die for! There is about an hour wait, but you can give them your phone number and they will text you about 20 minutes before your table is ready. That was delicious also!!!

The food and service are definitely worth the wait!

Yes the lines are long and yes the place is always packed, but for good reason. It is the best breakfast I have ever had. The service is second to none and the atmosphere is great.

Definitely a must if you're in the Salem area

Undeniably, the very best breakfast that I've ever had. I can't recommend this wonderful spot enough. The food was beyond expectation and the service staff was equally great. Well worth the 40 minute wait. Try the Eggs Benedict made with beef tenderloin. Thanks for some great memory.

A friend recommended this bistro & I was not disappointed: portions were generous, staff friendly with an eclectic decor. I had the special which was Blueberry Monte Cristo, my son had the trucker's biscuits and gravy with corned beef hash & we shared a side of bacon. Amazing food! Plenty of leftovers.
