Very beautiful building with very ornate architecture.
This is a cool stop and most people don't know you can go up and walk around on top of the capital of the building super cool view of Madison from up there.
pretty cool place to visit. -1 star for not permitting clowns (joke)
Very impressive architecture, worth taking a walk through when in town.
Fantastic place to visit. The tree here at Christmas is amazing. Fun for concerts on the square during the summer and the farmers market.
A must see stunning and beautiful, if your coming to the area. The tours are free, you enter on the side door an walk all the way up the hallway, you will see a desk with the next tour time , just wait there , no sign up.
Gorgeous architecture and very informative history about the state of Wisconsin. Had a great time photographing the building.
The whole area is a nice place to walk around. It s nice being in a capital where the benches aren t being used as beds.
Beautiful . The Officer and staff very knowledgable. Very clean.
I enjoyed my visit to the Capitol Building. I love the architecture, and the rooftop gaze into the city is really cool.
Beautiful Capitol building!! A wonderful place to visit, so much to see you will probably have to come back a few times. Gorgeous stone and wood work. They have a self guided tour you can take and look for hidden secrets, like fossils in the stone of the walls...you can get a pamphlet from the information desk.
Make sure you explore the entire building and check out the brilliant architecture and the views of the city from the observation deck.
Great place to bring visitors. Weekends are really busy and crowded though.
A beautiful place to tour. Wisconsin history and marble abounds. It's probably not as exciting to work there, but I don't have a frame of reference for that.
A beautiful Capitol, as usually in the USA, with free access and also suitable for children, to introduce them to the history and rights of citizens.
Magnificent example of pride for one's country.
Most recent visit in August 2013.
Very fun. We love Wisconsin!! State Capitol is so beautiful. Really great views from the balcony.
It's a beautiful building where wonderful things Happen
Great lawn for laying out and lots of activities throughout the year.
Awesome capitol. One of the best i ve been too lately. Easy parking and nice garden areas. Great for photos and place to come walk around with the family and learn about Madison s history.
Was having a great experience till we asked the information desk a simple question. He was rude and insulting! Continued on to a great coffee shop down the street where a couple asked if the information desk was isulting to us as well... We all got a chuckle!
Historical place kept perfect till now, it is worth going there at times of free guided tours, you can google the tour timetables.
Amazing architecture I can never get enough! Always kept up. Only bad thing is it closes at 6
Amazing views both of the landscape and the architecture.
This is a review based only on the building itself
I love the capital, it is stunning! The marble, wood, and gold leaf Work is amazing. Every time I go I discover a new detail! The observation deck is a great place to not only see the whole of downtown, but to also pinpoint what street you need to go down to get somewhere. I personally like the fact that no buildings can be taller than the capital, it creates a less cluttered city to live in, and offers an uninterrupted view of the capital from anywhere along the lake.
Loved the architecture and historical details, as someone who doesn't know too much about Wisconsin. The surrounding area is also beautiful to explore
Open during the day, so it is neat to walk through.
Take the FREE :45 minutes guided tour inside by the East wing. It start every hour on the hour.
You will learn a lot more of the history and they will give you access to many of the closed rooms and chambers that you wouldn't be able to see otherwise.
This state government should be disbanded and labeled traitor to the United States of America.
Would have given it a five if scott walker wasnt in there
Beautiful building, both the exterior and interior. And make sure to climb up to the top!
The building is breathtaking and a sheer wonder to look at and explore. You must go inside and see the different galleries and the dome, in particular. There are some interesting historical plaques to read and there's always something of interest going on here.
A gorgeous location filled with like-minded souls yearning for the perfect Instagram photo
This is really a beautiful building, and it is so well placed in the city. It really connects it back to the people so much better than many other capital buildings I have seen.
It's a nice place for take short break in your busy life.
Beautiful architecture. Excellent tour of the building.
Worth the visit to see the architecture. See if the observation deck is open to view the city.
This is potentially the most beautiful state capital in the U.S. I also enjoy the ability to walk up so close to the Capital and see all the details placed into the structure. It is a great place to walk around and see all the locals walking downtown, jogging, and overall in a good mood. It is hard not to be in awe.
Iconic Building in Madison, it stands majestically in the center of the Isthmus and divides the city on East and West sides. The dome resembles the Capitol in D.C.
The interiors are built with shiny classy marbles and gives a very royal feeling. The Capitol Tours gives a quick insight into the history of the building and Wisconsin politics.
There are weekly Farmers market around the building, bringing you the fresh local produce from the surrounding areas. This building is also the starting place for any protests. I have witnessed the Occupy Wall Street, 2011 Wisconsin Budget Repair bill.
A beautiful building full of Wisconsin history. Make sure to go up to the observation deck and the museum on the 4th floor.
Beautiful structure with marble and tile interior. Surprising how accessible it is to the public. Some of our party went to the top floors (as much as allowed).
Beautiful architecture to see. The landscaping around is very pretty during the summer and the farmers market is fun to check out as well.
I haven't been there yet but I would like to know if you're allowed to take pictures of the inside of the Capital Building?
I always love stopping in here. Just looking at the dome is amazing. Also it's never very busy in my experience. If you show up on the right day, they may have an art show in the rotunda.
Very impressive architecture! The marbles on the walls were imported from Greece and France and some other places! The intricate designs on the columns and borders showed that they were skilled works!
Excellent for school field trip. The guide taught us a lot about what the rooms were used for, who uses them, and how often.
Great place to bring history to life when studying about Wisconsin.
A grand and historical Capitol. There is popular farmers market in summer time.
I've been to a few states capitals and I might be a little bias being from Wisconsin, but the history and design/architecture and maintenance of the capital is amazing. The view of the city from the grounds and observation deck are unique and awesome. I would recommend a visit.
Very neat and worth stopping by. Truly beautiful. The outdoor balcony is worth visiting as well.
Great place. Everything about this town is awesome!!!!!
Beautiful capital .. the tour is a must see attraction
For a rainy day, the tour is wonderful (and free)! A great way to learn about the history of Wisconsin and check out the beautiful architecture of one of the nation's largest Capitols. For a not-rainy day, don't miss the observation deck, where you can get amazing views of the city!
The free tour is well worth an hour. The whole family enjoyed it, from kids to grandparents.
Touring state capitals is one of my favorite pastimes. The Wisconsin State Capital is gorgeous. Very ornate construction. Lots of imported marble from around the world. The detail on the inside was exquisite. Only capital I ve been to so far with an observation deck. Entire area is walkable and extremely clean. They love their badgers in Wisconsin. Tour guides are knowledgeable and thorough.
The Capitol is a beautiful building. Be sure to go upstairs and check out the view of the city!
Inspiring. Living art and history. Challenges us to be our best selves.
A must see if visiting Madison. It has 43 different types of beautiful marble, granite, and limestone. The observation deck has a gorgeous 360-degree view of downtown Madison. There is also a ton of information about the construction, and rebuilding after the 1904 fire of the capitol building itself on the upper levels inside. This building and its guided tours are free to the visiting public. Even if you don't care about politics, this building is a must see.
Beautiful building, set as the centerpiece of the city.
Its a beautiful place and as of late has had much goings on, I only gave it a 3 star because of the current occupant. If you are a visitor to Madison it is a must see. It is like a scaled down version of the White house.
Love this building. Cool temperature. Tidy bathrooms. Amazing light. It's a hub of activity.
The capitol is a very pretty building. It's definitely on my short list of "touristy" places to see in Madison. It's gorgeous for taking pictures outside and inside and on the balcony.
Beautiful inside and out! Detailed paintings along with beautiful history! Its like the white house of Wisconsin!
Its a great place. But it will be better when conservatives are in control. No masks
One of the most spectacular buildings in the entire country. This Capital dome is second in size only to the US Capital. A must see.
Had awesome time, people are so welcoming... not a place to miss.... Top view of city is just spectacular.... Make sure to plan a head for car parking...
I have been to many state capitols and this is one of the best. If you are in the Madison area, this is a must see in my opinion. Even if you spend a half hour walking around inside and out, it is worth it.
The 4th largest by volume dome in the world. Beautiful at all times of the year! Better than most capital buildings in the US
I challenge you to find a more beautiful state capital. Picnic on the lawn for free. We were there yesterday for Taste of Madison. Good times.
Pretty awesome capitol building but only 4 stars because Scott Walker works there.
Wow! Beautiful building. Wandered around for a couple hours, from the basement to the observation deck on top. Very nice air-conditioned get away on a hot day... American craftsmanship at its best. Helpful and nice staff around but you can wander on your own unmolested too. The views from the top of the isthmus, the lakes, the university and city layout are not to be missed. Best free attraction in town! Unless your a tax payer, in that case your paying plenty for admission.
Beautiful building to walk around and look in. I really enjoy that every Saturday there is the Farmer's Market around the perimeter of the Capitol. Very nice Farmer's Market and fun to go to on a Saturday morning.
