Our infant daughter absolutely LOVES Winwood, and we do too! Her teachers are loving, attentive and kind. She is learning every day, and it is clear that her teachers love her as much as she loves them. We cannot reccomend Winwood more highly, we know that she will continue to thrive in all of the programs. Winwood and the staff are an extension of our family, and we are grateful!
My sons have both enjoyed their time at Winwood immensely. While the oldest moved on to a Montessori format, he still wants to visit his teachers and friends daily when we pick up his little brother. In the Infants I room, our baby has been engaged and encouraged to develop his skills from crawling to waving and first words. The toddler and preschool programs taught my oldest son his alphabet and numbers as well as focused lessons on environmentalism, animals, history and science in a nurturing setting. In addition, the school has been very attentive to numerous food allergies in both kids. I cannot recommend Winwood highly enough.
Great organization with dedicated leadership and teachers. Our Tiny Person (15 months) has had a few difficulties with his skin and with allergies. The leadership and staff have been great at making sure that he's accommodated. Whenever I login to see what he's up to, he is having doing a variety of activities - playing, eating at a table with his little friends, going out for recess, and getting great naps each day. So glad to have found this center right near our home.
My two children began Winwood in the Infant classroom and now are participating in the School Age Distant Learning program. I know my children are well taken care while they are in their online public school classes. Winwood has taken great precautions due to COVID. Children are screened prior to entering the school and check again mid day. It is amazing that one of the teachers that my oldest had in the Infant room 10 years ago is still there! Winwood feels like an extension of my family.
My little one attended Winwood from 5 months old to 2 years, and we couldn't have been happier with the care and attention she received there. She loved the environment with the developmental toys and activities, the playground, the playful teachers, and the natural environment around the center that she got to explore regularly. We loved the teachers, the in room cameras, the email updates, the regular events, and the open communication. Sadly we moved out of state and had to switch daycare centers, but my daughter still talks about her teachers and friends from Winwood many months later. Highly recommended!
My little one just started in the busy bee room (2-3 yr old). And she loves it! The teachers and staff are all caring and helpful. She truly looks forward to going in the morning and they have done a fantastic job helping facilitate her potty training. Can't say enough about the team there. I visited many daycares prior to choosing this facility and it was hands down the best choice (centrally located, great curriculum, cameras in the rooms so you can check in at any time, clean and most importantly the staff takes pride and cares for the kiddos). Highly recommend them! My busy bee loves it!
We have had a fabulous experience at Winwood from infant through Pre-K! The staff and teachers are caring and knowledgeable. They truly get to know the children and families, and they are extremely respectful and responsive to each family's needs. Winwood values their staff. I am amazed by the longevity of employment for most of the staff. I can't recommend Winwood enough!
My daughter has been at Winwood for eleven years and it has honestly been her home away from home. She still loves to visit her teachers from the infant room. The longevity with so many of the staff has been wonderful. The teachers and managers truly care about the children and they have become a part of our extended family. We are so grateful for the team and will be sad to say good bye when the time comes that she no longer needs care.
Winwood provides excellent preschool programs and we can t speak highly enough of their junior kindergarten curriculum. Teachers and staff are caring, passionate and nurturing. Kids truly love going to school everyday. Highly recommended!
Did not sign up our 1 year old with them - during the second visit we found out that a tiny room for a few infants is sharing an AC with a large room full of running older kids. The temperature was freezing in the room for few smaller kids who could barely move!!!
We absolutely LOVE and ADORE Winwood in Fairfax! Everyone is so friendly and patient, and always communicates anything and everything immediately. We plan on sending our 2nd child here as well once she is born.
Well I hate to think the color of my skin was the motive for them telling me over the phone space was available in the Pre-K only to be told an hour later in person that they were now full. I will definitely be doing some investigating.
Love Winwood! We have had the pleasure of having our 3 children at Winwood for some years now and cannot say enough about their program. Each of our kids (infant-5 years old) were just as content at Winwood as they were at home. Winwood does an exceptionally fantastic job at hiring their teachers and we cannot say enough about their staff.
They also do a phenomenal job rotating their teachers around from room to room, in order to give the kids a chance to get to know the entire staff. This makes for a much easier transition when the kids move up from one room to the next. We loved receiving our email updates with pictures and details of what our children were up to throughout the day.
Their JR K program is exceptionally strong and we felt our oldest was incredibly well prepared for Kindergarten.
Quite simply a great place to send your kids! Would highly recommend Winwood to anyone! 5 stars:)
The staff and managers at the Winwood in Fairfax are wonderful. They are clearly devoted to the children. The love and guidance shown to the children ( and parents) is greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend this school.
We love Winwood! My son started there in 2016 when he was 4 months old. My one year old daughter has been there for a few months and loves it. My son has really thrived in their preschool curriculum and he will be more than prepared for kindergarten next year. This year, Winwood has been taking every precaution necessary during the pandemic to ensure teachers, parents and children are staying safe and healthy. They are doing a great job!
The teachers and staff have been lovely. We switched daycares largely due to positive experience of our friends... and it's paying off!
My daughters (now aged 6 and 5) have been coming to Winwood for almost three years, first in all day childcare and now in the before and after care for school-agers. They have had very positive experiences both in terms of having a fun, safe place to meet new friends and in preparation for kindergarten. The teachers are top notch and the administrators are always on top of everything. Highly recommend.
We have been delighted with everything about Winwood. Our son's vocabulary, manners and general behaviour seems to be much more advanced than children of a similar age who attend different day cares. We would highly recommend this school.
Our 4 year old son has been going to Winwood since he was 4 months old and he loves it here. The teachers are very kind and loving and he's learning so much! He especially loves when the music lady and the Spanish/Sign Language teacher come to his classroom each week. Another favorite is splash day in the summer. I love that each classroom has a webcam so I can check in to see how he's doing throughout the day. Winwood has been our family for the last 4 years and it will be a hard transition for us when our son has to move to a new school for kindergarten this fall.
I have had both of my children at Winwood and one since 2011. Almost every teacher at Winwood is exceptionally caring and truly loves children, including when they are troublesome and a handful. We are happy our children attended Winwood and met several other like minded families that are strongly involved in their children's lives that attended Winwood. All in all a great environment.

The focus Winwood places on academics as well as creating a loving environment is unmatched. We simply could not be happier with the care and education our children have received over the past 5 years.
My son attended Winwood on a daily basis from age 2 to age 8. Though we are no longer daily customers, we still regularly use WW for occasional child care during school holidays, summer break, and those dreaded snow days - even if Fairfax county schools are closed, the odds are good that Winwood is still open, which is incredibly helpful to busy working parents. I often recommend Winwood to friends and neighbors looking for childcare.
The Winwood team is made up of an outstanding group of teachers, Director, and Assistant Director. They work together to provide a great experience for parents and children. The curriculum for each grade is well thought out and filled with fun and educational experiences. In particular, the Junior K program is a very special experience. It is essentially a small private kindergarten year for kids who have fall and winter birthdays, and just miss the school cut off. The teacher for this room provides the kids with interactive and fun activities to challenge and engage the kids in learning. My son learned so much and was incredibly prepared to start school. Even now he has many friends from Winwood and loves to go back there whenever his real school is closed.
We have sent two children through Winwood Fairfax early childhood program since 2013. We've sent one of our children to their summer camp 4 years in a row and also used their before and after-care in the past.
We appreciate the fact that they have consistently good and caring staff and administrators. Many teachers have been here for many years. The not so stellar ones quickly go elsewhere. That's why we keep coming back here. Kids love going to Winwood. And Winwood provides healthy breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
Even during Covid this year, they held a fun and safe summer camp that both of my kids enjoyed. And no one got sick as they observed strict health protocols. If you are nearby, consider Winwood Fairfax for childcare needs from infant to elementary age. When schools re-open, they also have bus service to/from nearby schools.
It has been a great environment for our son and also for our infant daughter. The teachers and administration are all wonderful. It has been amazing to see all the stuff our son has learned.
