Lots of hiking trails with lots if challenging climbs. Went for a wedding which in a beautiful setting. They also hosted the reception. Very good food and location.
Lovely spot, great customer service and comfy accommodation.Highly recommend.
One star off because house was not very well kept and a bit tired.
Beautiful golf course and views, decent amenities (breakfast buffet, etc) but our bed was rock hard! Otherwise a truly enjoyable stay near the beer, wine, and cideries in VA!
Stayed off site, went to the resort for dining and off-season activities for the kids. Dinner at The Copper Mine, fare was a bit over priced for the quality. Lunch at the Edge, standard casual American menu on par with Chili's, Friday's, etc. Most of Discovery Ridge was closed due to weather.
Enjoy my short stay at the resort. I was only there for 1 day. It was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to come back and visit again.
Only dined in restaurant, great and attentive service and the meal was decent.
Went skiing and had a pretty good time. Was surprised that more.slopes were not opened based on the websites crowing about 100%snow making capability. Yes, weather does play a part I'm sure but the had just gotten at least 5" of actual snow as well. The website was not easy to navigate as it should be. You have to go through several pages to get to hours opened which helped me to miss that they were only open until 5 on Mondays instead of being open for night skiing. Still, overall the family enjoyed our time at Wintergreen and we will be going again.
We'll be back! Sooooo worth it. Come early for tubing or buy online...
We had a nice time. Food was great, service was great.
The trouble started when we checked -in. Two of three staff members were new, and it was obvious they were overwhelmed.
While one of them reviewed my reservation, I noticed what I thought was an error in my bill. Understandably, the new staff member didn t have authority to make an adjustment but it was what she said to me when I told her I didn t have a choice but to sign the reservation form; she said, Yes you do. You don t have to stay here. I was flabbergasted. I signed with the intent to speak with the manager the next day.
***The next morning, Tammy, the manager said the same thing, Yeah, you had a choice not to sign the confirmation and stay here. NEVER have I had such poor customer service, Ever!
Then, no elevators to the second floor and no one to help with luggage. Although the young women who checked us in offered to help carry our very heavy luggage.
Our room was great. It was recently remodeled, clean and well appointed.
The food was adequate and service was poor in all of the restaurants.
*Bathroom in The Edge was disgusting.
Ski instructors, Tom and Larry were AMAZING.
The Rental staff was helpful and nice.
The manufactured snow seemed very real!!
The Lift Operators were friendly but didn t do their job. Twice, someone failed to pull the bar down for a five year old boy riding by himself. *I heard his mother urging the staff to check the bar for all young kids riding alone.
When my own son s ski got caught as he was about to sit in the lift chair, he stumbled then fall. The operator DIDN'T stop the lift. My son ended up ducking while the chair went over his head. Again, I was flabbergasted.
I stayed at a rental property there and had a wonderful time.
Had a blast snowboarding can't wait for more terrain to be open
Awesome fall colors! Laurelwood units have kitchenettes and wood burning fireplaces. Hiked right out of our condo and onto trails within minutes. Short drive to several breweries for great food and drinks or breakfast and coffee.
My wife and I absolutely love this place. It has become our little get away, our escape to the top of the beautiful mountains. We highly recommend it, especially the condos overlooking the valley.
After several years of vacationing at Wintergreen this was by far my most disappointing. We went for a fun golf weekend with spa services. The golf was amazing. However, we were told that my spa services had been bumped due to a technical error. No advance notice, and no real solution a smiley "it rarely happens" and we can reschedule on our check-out day in the afternoon. So just know advance booking doesn't guarantee anything.
We stayed in the Cliffs. Extremely low water pressure in the unit. It was so bad you had to wait for the toilet tank to finish filling before washing your hands. I don't know if this is a Cliffs thing or not but we spoke with others who had the same problem. No pool towels provided. Front desk said to use your bath towel. It sure would have been nice to have more than 3 bath towels for bathing and pool use. Covid or not, I can't envision returning.
Great location for privacy, the rooms were clean, and we had plenty of space for our party of 10.
Lift lines weren't too bad for a holiday weekend. The member buffet was excellent.
Very nice house that we rented. Meeting facilities are fine. They worked out well for our group.
Probably had its hey-day in the '80s based on the building construction, but who cares! Getting to ski or hike in the beautiful Appalachian mountains is a treat. The generic rooms are very spacious, clean, offering a small kitchenette (with a ton of high-end pots/pans randomly in the closet). Bathroom has one of those slightly annoying circular rainfall showerheads, but otherwise pretty nice. Definitely would opt to stay in the main hotel rather than one of the more expensive and much more remote cabins (unless you have a ton of people). The hotel rooms are cheaper and closer to the slopes, restaurants, and shuttles.
Another tip:
- If you're coming to Wintergreen, make sure you carve enough time in your day to hit up at least a couple of the local breweries (try Blue Mountain).
Staff were friendly and helpful. Several nice hiking trails. Clean, well furnished rooms.
Nice Resort great restaurants and staff.
Our condo was very comfortable and clean. However the Mattress in our room was very old and needs to diffently be replaced, so needless to say, we were exhausted the next day.
Great resort. Centralized eating and lodging options. Devil's Backbone restaurant is a short drive away. Beautiful scenery and trails. Solid skiing (for East Coast), temperatures permitting.
Awesome place to ski. It is a huge resort with double black diamond slopes. They offer lessons for kids too. Very convenient location from Charlottesville, VA. Surprisingly not super expensive. There is not enough seating if you brought your family and are not skiing yourself.
Lodging is pricey and gets full fast. Rooms are spacious and clean.
I had so much fun snowboarding there. Great slopes for people who are beginners.
We had a great time for our first visit. One small thing...
Housekeeping would come every day, but only ever made the bed. They never cleaned or - - - even worse - - - refilled our coffee pods for the coffeemaker.
Could we have asked? Sure, but it should be implied I believe.
In the fall this place is amazing and I believe skiing will be starting early this year.
The resort was empty due to ski season being over, but our room was nice and we had tasty, fresh food at the Edge with a friendly server.
Awesome skiing, great staff. Loved the area. Would go again
Great skiing. Fast customer service for rentals and lift tickets.
Amazing property. The views and scenes are breathtaking. I thoroughly enjoyed my 5 days here. If you are on the lookout to spot some black bears I had success 6am- 630am off of devil's knob.
I very much enjoy it, I had a great time renting a house, even during the summer there was so much to do
Nice little resort for the area.. a lot of inexperienced skiers here but most of the runs are wide enough to avoid them if you need to. There are a few shops and restaurants but not much else to do if your not on the slopes. Snowshoe offers much more terrain and night life, but Wintergreen is still a good time for a single day trip.
Our family had a great weekend here. We stayed in the condos and everything was well kept. Place hasn't changed much since the 80s, makes you feel like you in a ski patrol movie from the 80s.
Best place in the south east for a ski vacation. Wonderful professional ski school very kid friendly. PSIA certified!
Great place to come and relax even if there is no snow
I went snowboarding with a group. We rented boards from the Ski Barn down the hill because the prices were cheaper. For a Saturday evening it was not too crowded. However, I do not recommend going when it is less than 10 degrees because everything is a sheet of glass.
Wow what a beautiful place. Really romantic. Great staff. They were very helpful on any questions we had. Planning on doing a 3 night stay soon.
The tubing park is worth the drive. I love taking the kids every year. Get an early time and it is a little less crowded. Sometimes they offer package with tubing and snowboard lessons. This will let you put the kids on the snow all day for cheap. Wear your gopro while tubing.
This is a great resort near the DC metro area. There were so many activities besides just the skiing.
One last day of skiing this season on St Patricks Day! I think my kids like the super fast lifts more than anything.
Wintergreen is a wonderful place with stellar food and service
Very clean rooms and condos. Lots of fun & outdoorsy things to do.
Amazing experience, perfect views thanks for all guys
Wintergreen is a beautiful resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Great views, great skiing, and fun summertime activities!
Overpriced, half of the slopes are closed. Hidden fees on everything. Long lines, no improvement over the years. Disgusts you from skiing.
This is a beautiful resort. I attended for a conference, & the accommodations are great. There are lots of hills, so be wear comfortable walking shoes.
Great place to ski,to be, or enjoy nature during summer
Fun ski hills, close to great hiking, and cold beer from The Edge.
this is my local mountain and have been getting season passes there for the last 15 years. This year my 3 year old got his season pass amd loves the mountain.
Went to go Snowboarding. Signed up for some package which was $61 a person that included lessons and rental (only available at $61 after 3:15pm). Trainer was very helpful (I still couldn't 'board with much control, but the more I tried the better I got.) Only problem I had was the long lines and the time it took to get boots and the board.
Crowded, had a thin layer of snow and you could only use the bunny hill if you paid for lessons in advance
Visited here for the first time to attend a wedding. you have to understand that all the accommodations are basically privately owned Condominiums townhouses and homes. They are in various states of decoration and style. The first night we were put in a place that only had two double beds in a loft and I found myself falling out of the bed towards the railing overlooking the kitchen. The bed was too soft and so we asked for another room with a queen-size bed at least. The resort was able to move us into much better condominium but it was not in the main Hotel building where the bulk of our party was staying. I would say that the food was very good and the setting of the wedding was very nice and that all things considered I would go back here.
This time of year when all the other resorts are busy this place is peaceful and quite, hardly anybody up there except for a few year round residents and workers
Love it. First time work there before open, then Vacation there 2 Weeks. thanks in the Winter , Best Vacation Ever.
One of my favorite places to go skiing. I was first introduce to wintergreen by my Youth Group, Grace Baptist Church. I learned how to ski and snowboard here. They have a great selection of courses from beginner to black diamond.
Very family friendly something for everyone we are staying in a condo at Fairway Woods on the resort and love how close everything is.
Great place for skiing and to spend the weekend. Cafeteria's could be better.
