I have personally spent time in this community as a healthcare professional, and I've also received unsolicited feedback from family members in the outside community who, unsolicited, have raved about the care their loved ones received at Willowbrook Place.

Willowbrook Place has a group of compassionate car...

Willowbrook Place has a group of compassionate caregivers who have the innate ability to meet the residents where they are with their specific needs. These caregivers are able to assist the more challenging residents in a positive, caring manner. However, the following are some serious concerns that I have observed regarding the care of my loved one and other residents:

- LACK OF RESPECT AND COMPASSION due to inadequate training. This is evident when some of the caregivers speak to the residents in harsh tones and raised voices often using poor choice of words for people with dementia. For example, "you're NOT supposed to be in there" as opposed to redirecting the resident, "let me help you find your way"; arguing with a resident ("I want to go to the 2nd floor" "there is no 2nd floor...NO, NO there's no 2nd floor"); humiliating a resident ( You wet your pants, now we have to change you - in a scolding manner); pushing a resident in a wheelchair with their feet dragging underneath the chair and yelling, "Lift your feet" instead of telling the resident that they are being moved and perhaps pulling the wheelchair backwards so the resident's feet are not bent underneath the wheelchair.

- LACK OF COMMUNICATION between executive director, other administrative personnel, and residents' family members. This occurs especially when staff changes are made such as not informing families when the nursing position was vacated and was not immediately filled, and when caregivers are no longer employed with the company leaving shifts short staffed.
- LACK OF ENSURING RESIDENTS RIGHTS are respected and adhered to as stated in Willowbrook Place s Residents Rights Policy. For example, forcing a resident to bed or into his/her room to convenience the staff.

I have addressed these concerns and others with different levels of management including the facility s executive director and a Principal in Anthem s corporate home office. I do not feel my concerns have been taken seriously or given any reasonable consideration since there has been little or no change(s) in the negative behaviors and interactions exhibited by some of the staff.

My stepmom was here until her passing. As a family we felt so terrible about having to place mom at a community, but we couldn t safely keep her home any longer. She went in on hospice and only lived here a few weeks, but I have to say, we are so incredibly blessed we found willowbrook. The quality of life she had there for her last few weeks of life was outstanding. From the tour until the day we moved her belongings out, the team here was so helpful, compassionate, educated and caring. We can t thank them enough for everything. They even gave us an beautiful lantern to take home with a poem to remember mom. I highly recommend this community.

My Mom was in this facility for 9 months. She just passed away. They have had a couple of changes to the Executive Director and the Nurse. I do know they are understaffed as it is difficult to hire good caregivers in today's competitive environment. This is the only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5 star. The caregivers that are there are AMAZING! The care and LOVE my mom received was so comforting. They were always checking on my mom and were there to assist her very quickly even though they were understaffed. I feel that if you communicate with them in a caring manner you will be very satisfied with the care your loved one receives. The staff really does go above and beyond the call of duty to help the people they are caring for.

Willowbrook Place is a horrendous community. I had a family member there and visited very often as I did not feel comfortable leaving them alone there. They charge a small fortune and most family members have to hire and pay additional outside care staff to stay with their loved ones because the care is so bad. The turnover rate is extremely high which is awful for a memory care facility in which the residents so need consistency. The only thing that Willowbrook cares about is money, They abuse the residents and scream at them. Residents sleep in the hallways and are left unattended for hours. They sit in their food on filthy dining tables. The residents roam around the hallways opening electrical signs and outlets for hours with no care giver in site. They fall and no one is around. They are so understaffed that the caregivers call 911 for any assistance. The food is awful. Their Thanksgiving meal they made for their 60 residents and a few family members consisted of pressed rolled turkey breast. It was inedible, especially considering it was for a special holiday meal.

The director Jay is arrogant and uncaring and takes no interest in any of the residents. He does nothing when family members voice their concerns. He is not around and often takes off Fridays. He is not open to fixing anything and family members talk among themselves in frustration. Dealing with Lori, their office manager, is exhausting as she lies regularly. They had a decent activities director Cody, but he left. His replacement is Michael who does not take any interest in residents and is always distracted with some life drama. It seems to be a real chore for him to do his job as there are few activities with much simulation.

The whole place is filled with drama and a severe lack of interest in helping their residents live a life with real dignity. Willowbrook presents well and they give a good sales pitch but it all ends after you are a paying resident. What a shame to end up with such poor treatment in your golden years when you really need care. There is no compassion there and I am afraid they are going to end up on the news after some horrible neglect. Run, do not walk away. Don't think about putting anyone you love there.

My mom lived here for a year before she passed. It was wonderful. Great staff. I never had any issues and all my concerns were addressed. I would highly recommend. The caregivers and all staff are top-notch and my mom was happy to live here.

This is by far the worst community I've seen. The care staff is not very friendly and very rude to the residents. There is no communication between care staff or management. They leave the residents in dirty or soild clothing for multiple hours at a time. Residents fall, get injured and nothing is done about it. It is also a very unsanitary community. Dining tables, floors and bathrooms are always dirty along with the residents. This is a HORRIBLE place to keep your loved ones. I would not recommend this community to anyone! I would give zero stars but I have to give at least one.

My grandma was here for a couple of months and it ...

My grandma was here for a couple of months and it was disappointing, to put it nicely. The facility itself is beautiful and for the most part, clean. The actual caregiving staff is very kind and friendly, but lack training. The director actually said the training consists of watching powerpoints in a room. This place also only employs the very minimal amount of nursing staff legally required. There is not a nurse there 24/7 which means health concerns can only be addressed during business hours. The QMAPS give medication to the residents but are unable to make any sort of appropriate judgements as to whether or not a patient should be medicated (i.e. waking up a resident to give them medications to subdue them when they are already passed out). One of the main nurses is very rude and is very short with you if you have questions or requests. My Grandma fell an absurd amount of times in this facility and we were told that there really wasn t anything they could do about it. That s unacceptable. When we asked how they make sure residents are safe when they are alone in their room we were told they are checked on every two hours. These are elderly residents and most of them with dementia and other functioning disabilities and the best you can do is check on them every two hours? That s hardly appropriate care. Don t bother setting up a meeting to discuss your concerns because you will just be talked down to and told that there isn t anything else they can do. How about adequate training for your poorly trained caregivers? You don t learn how to take care of anyone through watching a powerpoint. I don t wonder for a second why the turnover rate is so high there. Placing young caregiving staff there with limited experience, training and guidance is never going to work. There is no communication among the staff which leads to frustration when nobody can tell you what is going on with your loved one or how they are doing. But the problem is not the caregiving staff. It s the management, or really lack there of. Hardly anything is actually managed there and what is managed, isn t managed well. Effective and respected management teams consist of people who are willing to listen to feedback and accept responsibility for what is wrong and actually make an effort to fix it. Fixing it isn t firing people. It s showing them what they should be doing and how to better handle these residents. But how can this be done when management doesn t even know what to do?

Amazing staff, very caring and compassionate. The move for our mother was sudden and after a virtual tour with Emily, full transparency of services and staff, we felt confident Mom would be well cared for. She hasn't been there long but already has adjusted and is happy! They offer a lot of activities and she's been more active now than she was at home. We are so glad we found this place with the help of Care Patrol Colorado! We know she's in excellent care and at a safe place that can meet all her needs where we could not. Thank you!

Willow brook Place has been my mothers home for 2 months. When I first came, after viewing a large majority of memory care options in Littleton, I was very nervous. I visited Willowbrook and was very welcomed by the staff. Unfortunately or fortunately the day of my moms arrival, there was some staff turnover. After meeting the new staff and getting to know them.... we and my mom feel very fortunate. Barb, the director, has a beautiful spirit. Jennifer, the RN is a real go getter and is extremely efficient! They have hired two Resident Care Coordinators, which are like assistant directors of nursing. The CNA's that are employed at Willowbrook are kind, many say they are called to work with seniors. PT and OT are wonderful. Michael, the Activities Director and his staff exceptional. Michael has been with Anthem for 6 years. My mom can be busy all day if she so chooses. Greg, the chef has been with Willowbrook since they opened. He is fantastic. They will assist you in setting up a specific diet for your loved one. They want to know likes and dislike. His food is delicious! Sherri, in Finance is very knowledgable and is also able to go on outings and enjoy the residents as well. CNA's have told me they love working there because it feels like home, not big business. My husband told me when I worried about the turnover, maybe now they've got the RIGHT staff.....and he was right! They are still growing and this is why I gave them a 4. Always room for growth. I just attended my first Family Council meeting. Very informative! They are really interested in feedback so they can continue to grow. If you are searching, thought this might help. Kindly, Suzanne

If I could give no stars, I would. Please, please,...

If I could give no stars, I would. Please, please, please do not work here nor place your loved ones here. This is the most horrible place ever. Willowbrook Place literally hires anyone and their training is not effective at all. These caregivers don't know what they're doing half the time. They let the dumb caregivers get away with everything while the good workers get in trouble. Not to mention Willowbrook treats their staff horribly. Everyone in management is new and let me just say, this is by far the worst group of directors ever. They are rude, selfish, and careless. They have no compassion and they do not care about the residents or their staff. The nurses are never present on the floor. The only time I see them is when they're smoking outside with the "wonderful" activities director. They're all a joke. When residents are on their death bed or when they have fractures they lie to the family members and tell them that their loved one is okay. They have attitude towards their care staff and they never want to help out where it's needed. They don't know the residents and when you come to them to inform them of any changes with a resident, they blow it off like it's nothing. All the directors are friends and they stick in a group. They defend each other and cover each others backs. When the nurses have to QMAP, they leave the cart open and leave medications on top while leaving it unattended. When anyone from management has to work overnight, residents are found soaking wet drenched in urine and poop. Managements expectations for the care staff are so high but when it comes to them actually working on the floor as a caregiver or QMAP, they half a** everything. It's such an inconvenience for them to be here and do real work. They only care about a paycheck... Willowbrook just recently cut down on staffing. Leaving your loved ones getting neglected because they're not getting the help they truly need. Management is never no where to be found. They hide out in their offices and all they do is bully and harass their staff. They make everyone feel unwelcomed. They also have attitudes with the family members. This is the most unprofessional group of directors ever. For the sake of your well being and the sake of your loved ones, do not come here to Willowbrook place. Theres a HUGE lack of communication between nurses/carestaff/family members, a HUGE lack in professionalism, and a HUGE lack of care and compassion. This place should honestly be shut down.

I have been impressed with the quality of care provided at Willowbrook, especially in light of the Covid outbreak. The caregivers have had to take on quite a bit extra to provide the care necessary, especially since family members are not allowed to visit inside to continue to protect all of the residents from this pandemic. It was very proactive for Willowbrook to put preventative measures in place before most places in Colorado did. The fact that they have kept everyone there Covid-free is nothing short of amazing. The caregivers have gone above and beyond to provide access through Facetime and window visits. We are so very grateful!

When my friend was placed here over 1 1/2 ago by her family the people were nice to her and the family got communication from one of the male care givers on a regular basis. After he left there was NOTHING. I, now and another family member are doing the communication. The ones in the front are the only people I have been able to connect with. They have changed the people in the back several times. So now I know NO one. My friend tells me of situations of intimidation by this new group. This is her home as it is and her room her space. As long as it's not piled with garbage you come in clean the floors and take JUST WHATS IN THE garbage can ONLY and dirty dishes and not when she's sleeping. If she wants to keep certain items on HER TABLE let the family deal with it. We can't trust them to do the laundry because she gets other people stuffs or things go missing. She had 2 sets BRAND NEW SHEETS when she came. They replaced one with someone else's old sheets.

My mother-in-law has been at Willowbrook for 1 1/2 years and we have nothing but good things to say about the facility and the staff! I am at Willowbrook Place a number of times a week, spending at least 10 hours a week with my MIL and other residents and volunteering with various activities, such as flower arranging and cooking demos. The facility is divided into two sides. I have spent time in both sides and have never seen the public or private restrooms dirty, they are always kept in great order. The staff take residents to the restroom on a regular basis and I have never seen a resident in anything but clean clothes. The staff are very attentive to all the residents needs and wants. I have never seen the staff treat the residents with anything but kindness and dignity. The floors and tables are cleaned after every meal and messy activities. The caregivers priorities are always the residents, so if a table or floor has to wait a minute to get cleaned that is why. Besides the staff what really makes Willowbrook special,is the residents family members who spend time with not just their relatives, but with everyone there, giving it a very family like atmosphere. Williowbrook also has a great activities program that urges the residents to spend as much time as possible out of their rooms, which seems to help those profoundly affected by dementia come out of their shells as much as possible. The activities staff keep the residents engaged with music, arts, and demonstrations varying from preschoolers coming in to a craggy old sailor coming in to show slides of his ocean voyages on a sail boat. They also have a lot musical entertainment, which the residents love! Overall, we could home for mom!
