Our History

Wilhelm Heyne Verlag was founded in 1949 by Wilhelm Heyne himself. The company started as a small publishing house with only three employees but quickly grew into one of the most successful publishers in Germany. In 1953, the first science fiction book was published under the label "Heyne Science Fiction". This marked the beginning of an era that would shape our company's identity for decades to come.

In 1974, Wilhelm Heyne passed away and his son-in-law, Rolf Heyne took over as CEO.
