I personally wouldn't even rate this a 1 star. The care home has a number of issues the biggest being a language barrier,not sure how you can provide personal care safely when you don't understand each other. This home removed my mother in laws phone took her biscuits away from her and wouldn't allow her to have her call bell. They left my mother in laws for long periods of time when needing assistance. After 2days of her being in the home she sustained injuries to her face and head care workers tell a different story to my mother in law. There are many issues I wouldn't recommend anyone to put a family member in here
Personally this home isn't even worth a one. Using another account to hide my name as I previously worked there. The staff shortage is unbelievable, the carer to client ratio is well off. The staff are rude to new members. Only two members were friendly to me, the rest just gave me looks of disgust.
The way they treat their clients is something that just shouldn't be allowed to happen. Clients are left in wet or soiled pads for long periods of time. Ones who are bed ridden do not get regularly turned to prevent pressure sores, and catheters "forget" to be changed. The clients who use the day room rarely receive help, or prompted to use the toilet. I went to a couple of clients who were sat in a soaking wet pad,underwear and trousers. That made me feel sick. The clients dignity gets lost the moment they are placed into this home. The clients who are able to wash,dress and toilet alone are actually ok, but considering this nursing home houses mostly clients with severe disabilities and some with Dementia I don't think this home is up to the care quality standards. If you care about your loved one, do not send them to this home.
The staff here take care of my 98 year old grandma brillianty. Always homemade cakes & tea on grandma's table & offered to us also when the family visit. Grandma has her hair done, nails painted. She does watercolour painting. I think they do a great job.
My mother was in this home for 5 years, in the beginning we were very happy with the friendly atmosphere, it was more a home rather than an institution, that's what we liked about it. Sadly events led to a change of management, and not for the better. We always felt the home was starved of funds and needed some improvement.
My Mum died in May, and apart from the phone call informing us of her death we received no communication whatsoever, not even a condolences card.
