Whiting Health Care Center Review

I am young and found myself at this facility after spending 12 days in the hospital following a flare up of a dysautonomia condition I have, and seizures. I had been to another facility 2 years ago after a knee replacement so of course made a comparison. My previous facility had a huge gym, gourmet coffee, and great food. Whiting Healthcare does not have great food at all and their gym is minimal. However, the gym serves its purpose and the staff here are amazing. Tomorrow I will be discharged after a 2 week stay here and I feel like they have really helped me gain my strength back. I had one day where I had some complaints and issues, and once brought to the attention of the supervisor, I feel that the staff here worked very hard on rectifying the situation. They worked hard on making me happy, even specially ordering veggie burgers, as I am a vegetarian and their menu is limited with vegetarian options. I feel like the staff really care about the patients that they are treating, and that is extremely important when essentially "living" somewhere for an extended period of time. If I ever need a subacute rehab again, I would come back here.

Looking for the sixth star. Why? Because the staff, particularly Maryellen on 3-11 and the cna staff made it common practice to go above and beyond. She left in better shape then we could ever expect and we are eternally grateful for the difference you made. She has been home for some time now and I am happy to say she continues to do very well.

My mother was sent here for rehab after a fall. She left in worse shape than when she arrived. Luckily we got her transferred to a better facility. I strongly recommend not sending your loved ones here.

No one wants to think about getting sick or plan for a broken hip. When these unfortunate accidents happen to the people we love; it can be hard to make the best decision on where to place a loved one. Or where to turn to for help.
As a nurse for 20 years i've worked at almost every nursing and rehab care in Ocean County at some compacity per diem or agency.
I know which facilities are the best and which are the worst.
I personally have worked at Whiting healthcare for several years and know all too well the talent and compassion of the staff that work there.
There are several nurses that have spent their entire career at Whiting Healthcare caring for the residents that live there. Rehab staff have worked tirelessly to help clients get back on their feet and home quickly and safely. Under the Genesis brand Whiting has only gotten better. Focusing on delivering the best care and addressing medical issues to keep the client well and prevent readmission to the hospital.

My experiences with the center have always been good. My mom is very well treated, she is clean, and well feed. The staff is all very professional. The center is always clean.

They should do better training in how to treat their patients

My 87 year old father was sent here for rehab after foot surgery. He has a history of heart disease and was denied transport to the hospital when he asked to go due to trouble breathing at 1:00 am on 8/12/17. I was called by my father at 6:00 am to intervene. The nursing home eventually arranged for non-emergency transport around 9:00 am. My father was in congestive heart failure and kidney failure. He died 2 weeks later. I was advised by my father's case manager to report them to the medical board. I am left caring for my mother with dementia and just don't have the energy. I quit my job to take care of my mother as she will not go to a nursing home so they can kill her faster.

My husband has been to several Rehabs since his surgeries. This place is by FAR the VERY BEST REHAB CENTER that he has been in!! It is clean, the Aides are friendly, pleasant and Always willing to go out of their way to help him and also me! Physical Therapy is the best he has had! The Doctors and the Nurses are awesome and caring! They are very concerned for each of their patients!! But also for the family members!! If you ever need a rehab facility THIS IS THE PLACE TO COME!!!

This place is absolutely disgusting, unclean, smells awful, stains on everything from the chairs to the carpets, deserves 0 stars. I'm absolutely mortified too find my grandmother in law has been moved here.

When I was told that the ratings for Whiting were bad I felt the need to post something. From my own personal experiences Whiting Healthcare is a place that I would recommend to anyone! The employees are always helpful from housekeeping, social worker, rehab to the nurses. The employees are always happy and you always see them interacting with the families.
