Very smart country pub lovely menu and courteous staff.
Great place to eat, everything you could want in a quality pub.
Really enjoyed the service with good size rooms and ohhh maaaan this chef knows how to cook a dame good steak....Oh and the starter soup was exquisite! Definitely come again with friends....Spot on
Beautiful decor and lovely atmosphere, we sat in the conservatory. Table service was a bit slow to start with.
Sunday luch was faultless - roast beef. And dogs allowed in the bar. Perfect stop after a long walk in panshanger park.
Service was slow, waitress got wine order wrong twice !!! had to send manager over. Manager nice person but needs to learn how to pour wine without it running down the bottle n almost dripping onto a customer. Serloin Steaks not good on 2 seperate occasions and Burger also not good. The Ribeye was v. nice. Very nice pub but food has been dissapointing & staff need to up their game.
Lovely little place, staff great, food lovely, garden area a happy chilled environment. Would definatly cone again.
Gorgeous food and really friendly staff. Being able to take a dog into a pub is a refreshing experience. Beautiful pub with relaxed atmosphere
Excellent , unhurried lunch, friendly, helpful staff.
Had a very nice meal here with friends, service was very good too. Would recommend.
Newly renovated and impressive, but the food was not great. Fish cakes were served cold and needed to be replaced rather than heated. I had the impression that the food was not prepared on site but heated or cooked on request. Not a Great Experience!!
Great food. Fabulous staff especially Maddy. Covid taken into consideration with tables, toilets etc
Nice pub that we arrived at after walk in nearby park. Surprisingly cheap for such a posh looking area. Friendly staff. Dog friendly.
Great afternoon. Even though they had a large private party going on the lunch was lovely and the staff very attentive.
We went as a party of 12 on Saturday evening 9th November for a dinner all of which was ordered in advance. Although some of the party enjoyed their food the rest of us were bitterly disappointed. The pork belly not as you would imagine and was more like a soup. The service was poor and slow, and when the coffee arrived (40 minutes after ordering) the staff member said "there is only me doing it) albeit there were 2 other staff members who standing around could have helped. It was only luke warm when it all arrived and a party member sent his hot chocolate back by which
time our transport had arrived. Throughout the entire evening no member of staff asked if we were enjoying our food not even the Manager.
We had a really lovely meal with friends and service from Zoe and colleagues was friendly and efficient. Plus we had live music and a buzzing atmosphere. Recommend paying a visit!
I visited the white horse two weeks ago on a beautiful summer evening and Sat in the well kept pub garden and enjoyed some of the local Hertfordshire ales and G&T s the pub is typical of many pubs in the local area serving great drinks and food and is kept clean and cosy .bar staff were freindly and attentive and the decor is in keeping with the local area well done the white horse we will be back .thanks .
Great private room, food could have been better looks good but lacks taste and service needs a bit of a shake up..
Smaller menu when I went - nice food, good service, reasonable coronavirus adaptations. We had a good evening.
Seemed fine, nice beer and new pleasant interior.
Staff seemed lax unfortunately, people waiting to get served at the bar even though it was quiet
Really great venue/decor, especially with the bi-folding doors open to the terrace. Food was so close, but so far. The afternoon tea looked the part was poor, wet sandwiches, pre made up scones (no choice of jam/cream) and a really small tea selection.
Relaxing atmosphere and lovely decor - perfect for events. Wonderful place- didn't try the food hence the four stars.
Good wine list and cozy atmosphere.
Best olives in area.
Exelent service.
Good service and very good food. Not vast quantities of food but very tasty. Good selection of beers and menu quite varied so something for everyone. Will go again
Well worth a visit for a meal and comfortable beer/wine.
Wow this place has changed since I first new it, and for the better. Before was an usual bar in a hotel with 0 character, now a great busy pub with loads of real beer. Very busy so you maybe pushed finding a table.
Nice decor , good food and friendly staff.
Not a place for kids really as nothing for them to do but that kind of adds to the appeal.
Friendly staff, lovely rooms and nice food within a 5 min drive of Hertford centre
Great decor, lovely food. Went to a recent Tapas night, was not disappointed.
Lovely country pub, friendly staff and great food. What more can you ask for.
Very comfortable rooms and great value for money. Restaurant was lovely. Friendly staff too.
Still not eaten here but have popped in for drinks a few times and like it. They've made an effort with the look of the place and the staff are nice to chat with.
Two of us had another pleasant lunch but were disappointed that there was little or no Christmas atmosphere and not a festive light to be seen anywhere. Also the waiting staff seemed unclear on their duties. All in all a little disappointing.
Had a delicious pub lunch here the other day.
Highly recommended
Went for afternoon tea, absolutely no welcome and when we wandered through to the hotel reception in search of someone, the receptionist was sullen and off-hand. The sandwiches and cake were nice but ordinary and certainly not worth the More
Only popped in for a post walk drink, lovely setting in a quaint village lovely staff.
Great place for a quiet drink with my son. Helpful friendly staff that made us most welcome. Handy neat car parking and excellent atmosphere with dogs on leads coming and going. Will be back to try the coffee, as both cold drinks were excellent!
We were welcomed by barman Harvey and Amy our waitress couldn't have taken better care of us. Pear, walnut and stilton tart starter is to die for!
Excellent service, tasty food and vary good live music
Lovely place for everything from a relaxed coffee in the morning to a special evening meal. Beautiful dining area.
Staff are great and menu caters for gluten free and vegan diets. Our favourite pub in the area.
Great food. Nice decor. We go here often for work lunches with clients.
Staff were helpful food was good especially considering that it is mother's day. Good with children too.
Nice clean pub with spacious restaurant and friendly staff.
Good food, staff friendly. Shame it's closing on the 8th May
Had a great stay, room was lovely. Food and service was brilliant.
Just loved this place ,food great , staff went out of there way to look after us ,a must do at least once a month
Nice country pub. Friendly staff, real fire and good beer.
Nice armosphere , good location , good food . Had sunday roasts
Lovely building and decor. Good food with decent vegetarian options.
Very good evening. Great Gatsby. Nice food, great service, brilliant decor and ambiance. Fantastic band to see the evening out. Strongly recommend.
We had a very bad time last Saturday, 16th June. After being shown to our table and placing our food order we waited 50 minutes for the food to be served. The cod was such a small piece we complained. And although my wife ate the rib eye steak we didn t think it was a rib eye. We complained again. Both meals were taken off our bill. We were not very happy. BE WARNED !
We visited on a Fri for dinner with another couple. We thought the new refurburbishment was wonderful and had a great relaxing meal. We all had main meals and our friends had desert. We found the staff charming and efficient and enjoyed our fish and chips a lot. The bill was good value and we definatly return
Beautifully refurbished, very friendly staff, great beer selection and good food selection. Look forward to returning :)
Had a lovely meal very nice risotto. Was disappointed they are still using plastic straws.
Beautifully renovated pub. Very busy Sunday afternoon. Lovely starters and roast beef main. Only slightly let down by an underwhelming dessert.
Food ok, staff poor. DO NOT ORDER THE TROUT!
Went here with a party of 10 for a celebratory meal, on a saturday night. We booked well in advance and relatively early, before it got too busy. 2 weeks before the meal, we were asked if we could order our food in advance. Fine, no problem. Perfectly acceptable for a large part on a saturday evening.
The staff were non-attentive from the time we arrived, to a point where I would say that they were rude.
My starter was very nice. Salt roasted carrots with goats curds and pea shoots. The carrots were lovely and sweet.
Main course of Rainbow Trout with radishes and kohlrabi. Sounded great. Was awful. When this was served, it had a distinct wet dog smell to it. (I am not exaggerating this or being dramatic.) I can appreciate that some things can smell bad but actually taste pretty good. This tasted a little better than the smell. It was also a very small portion and I was not allowed to order a portion of chips to go with it. The textures were good, but I question the quality/freshness of the fish. I ate most of it and put it down to poor menu choice. Everyone else's food looked and smelled quite nice.
After waiting for a while for the bill to arrive, my stomach did not feel right. I had to use the facilities twice between asking for the bill and leaving the car park.
It is a nice place to sit and have a drink, but the food is over priced and the waiting staff were rude.
Great food and they cater well for vegans and gluten free etc
This old style pub/restaurant is in heart of a lovely and very British village, with a large beer garden. They have a wide range of beers and spirits to choose from. This is also an hotel, if you are looking for a short stay.
Welcoming gastropub. Friendly staff, good food and beer
Shame they couldn't find the remote so we could watch The Masters final round (on mute)
I've visited The White Horse quite a few times and have never been disappointed. It's got everything you'd want and expect from a friendly local pub and restaurant. We've had family Sunday lunches, evening meals and then this morning we tried breakfast. It was incredible. You can tell the quality of the food is second to none and the service is so friendly. I've noticed they're doing themed Christmas parties, so looks like we'll be booking that ASAP. Keep up the great work! :)
Great food. Really nice dining room. I would go back.
Went here recently, check their website to see if it was wheelchair friendly and it states on their site it was. The only access for wheelchairs is through the front even then the access is very poor with steps to get over, unless you get help to get over the front door you have no chance in getting in. There are also no disabled toilets for wheelchairs, the bar is up some steps so you would have to be waited on, but the only good part is you can access the events rooms as these are wheelchair friendly.
