This 1920's manion is right on the water and it is absolutely beautiful. I took a tour and I definitely recommend it. Also, don't be afraid to ask the staff questions. They are kind, knowledgeable, and love their job.

This is an absolutely beautiful mansion, nearly on the water! Very nicely finished and appointed, with high quality materials and thoughtful touches. There are many original artifacts on display, as well as other period-correct pieces. My favorite is the basement, where there is so much to learn that I could spend hours reading down there. Check it out for yourself! Walking distance to the Currituck Beach Lighthouse.

Beautiful building to look at. There is an entrance fee. I wouldn't take small children inside. Located on a beautiful grounds with proximity to the Currituck Lighthouse and Wildlife Education center. A great place to take a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery.

The July 4th festival and Firework show was amazing and the best part is it was free!! Had free activities for the kids, food trucks (paid for food of course) and firework show. I highly recommend taking the family.

There is a reasonable fee to get in. My wife and I were surprised that it was a self guided tour. This was actually a very pleasant way to tour the building as you could listen to the recordings and take the time that you wanted to look at the building. The only downside was that you are not allowed to take pictures inside.

The area is beautiful and well worth a stroll, especially at sunset.

If you come for the wine tastings, though, be aware: your ticket gets you two vineyards and a single brewery. They ll rush you through and won t be able to answer questions about the wine. Not at all the experience I expect for the price.

The house is an interesting way to tour life of a bygone era. Very affordable admission. Parking around the grounds was easy to find. I enjoyed seeing the exhibits in the basement. See all 3 levels of the house!

I have been coming here since before it was restored. This place is truly worth the visit especially at sunset. The tour of the house is incredible and well preserved. The long history of this house and the family are truly amazing. The views of the sound and lighthouse are worth it. Great wine festivals in the fall and a great place to picnic or hold a photoshoot. The Whalehead Club is a staple of the Outer banks rich in history and grandeur. Don't miss your chance to take the tour and see the grounds!

Very nice. A well organized self tour of a one of a kind house built by elites who liked to entertain and hunt ducks. A look into the past at a well maintained residence in an era of opulence. Many preserved period curios, furniture, clothes etc.

We enjoyed the many interesting items that were displayed in the house. The self guided tours using a push button devise in each room gave us a lot of time to just look around at our own pace. The staff were very nice and answered all of our questions. Going there was recommended by a fellow tourist. The cost of $5.00 was very reasonable for us senior citizens.

Very interesting tour of this beautiful home. It's like visiting a version of Downton Abbey in America. The only small drawback is that the tours are self guided and not staggered enough to allow you to see the house without other groups intermingling which on occasion was distracting when trying to listen to the recordings.

About Whalehead Club

Whalehead Club: A Historic Landmark in the Currituck Outer Banks

If you're looking for a unique vacation experience, look no further than the Currituck Outer Banks. This beautiful area of North Carolina is home to wild horses, unspoiled beaches, and a rich history that's just waiting to be explored. And at the heart of it all is the Whalehead Club.

The Whalehead Club is a historic landmark that dates back to the 1920s. It was originally built as a hunting lodge for wealthy industrialists who wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy some time in nature. Today, it's open to visitors who want to learn more about this fascinating piece of history.

One of the things that makes the Whalehead Club so special is its location. It sits on 39 acres of land along the Currituck Sound, offering stunning views of both water and wildlife. Visitors can take a stroll through the gardens or relax on one of several porches while taking in all that nature has to offer.

But there's more to do at Whalehead than just admire its natural beauty. The club also offers guided tours that take visitors through its many rooms and tell stories about its past inhabitants. You'll learn about how it was used during Prohibition (it was rumored to be a speakeasy), as well as how it survived hurricanes and other natural disasters over the years.

In addition to tours, there are also plenty of events held at Whalehead throughout the year. These range from concerts and festivals to educational programs for kids and adults alike. No matter what your interests are, you're sure to find something fun happening here.

Of course, no visit would be complete without checking out some of Currituck's other attractions as well. The area is known for its wild horses (which roam freely on nearby beaches), as well as its family-friendly beaches that are perfect for swimming or sunbathing.

And if you're looking for even more adventure, there are plenty of outdoor activities available too – from kayaking and paddleboarding on Currituck Sound to hiking through nearby state parks like Jockey's Ridge or Nags Head Woods.

So whether you're interested in history or just want an unforgettable vacation experience, make sure you add Whalehead Club (and all that Currituck has to offer) onto your travel itinerary today!
