Whalebone is a great place for ANYTHING you need for the beach and their logo is recognized worldwide. Jim and his staff are are professional and knowledgeable about everything in the store. I have been buying stuff there for over 20 years, including T-shirts, boardshorts, towels, and hoodies and today I just bought another hoody and two more towels! It is a great surf shop that you will return to again once you try it!! RedDog
Wonderful customer service starting with one of the owners and consistently across the board. Great starter surfboards for rent ($20/day!). Laid back experience and they threw in helpful tips and materials. Definitely will return every summer!

I wish there was a way to give an even better review!!!!!! Just a couple in town from NSB, Florida, wanted to teach my sisters to surf on a long board. Silly girls went in and got the wrong board. The next day we returned the board in exchange for the long board for a week, he ended up chatting it up with my boyfriend and sharing amazing surf stories together, showed us SICK photos. And got us hooked up and in the right spot to catch some great waves even on a 1-2 swell. I will return again and againjust to stop in at this amazing shop. Every worker was amazing and very helpful. Visited for the first time when we were camping at Oregon Inlet. We came in for a rental surf board and left with a great foam beginner board, three awesome t-shirts and two pairs of comfy sweatpants! The owners were very helpful and gave us tips about local parks, beaches, and restaurants. Love this place! Will be back!
We go here every year when we visit the Outer Banks. The owner and all the staff are so helpful and fun to chat with. Great selection of clothes and beachwear.
This is a family-owned store in Nags Head, NC. I shop here every Christmas and birthdays for the men in my family. Jim Vaughn, the owner, and his crew are friendly and helpful making suggestions, or assisting in a return. They have all the popular surf brands, clothing, equipment, boards, etc., that my boys want.
Always visit here each vacation. It's our tradition...a T-shirt each year.

Just left Whalebone in Nags Head. All of the ladies working were sweet and attentive but not TOO attentive. Store was well laid out and a had great selection. Dressing room was clean and i did not have to chase anyone down to use it. Purchased 3 items...loved them all!....Happy Girl! I will be back ...July 1st-2017
