We just lived across Little Bayou, at Banyan Bay, before we came here. I watched these buildings being built from on the bayou, and across the bayou. I jokingly tell everybody that we moved by kayak! I'm an outdoors person, and I waited until they finished the kayak dock before I'd even agree to move.
Little Bayou is somewhere I spend a lot of time and just out in the bay. What they offer active residents here, with the kayak dock and the fishing, it's very important to me. And the buildings are just so beautiful. We live in Bay Breeze, and we were able to get the home that we wanted. It s just ideal for the type of lifestyle we are interested in.
The thing I most appreciate is that I no longer have the burden of homeownership. I don't have to worry about property taxes, flood insurance, property insurance. It's removed all of that. That's a fair amount of stress relief. The services provided here, combined with reducing the burden of homeownership, and your life is free of stress!
Westminster Shores is the best choice for Independent Living in the Tampa Bay Area. Pristine grounds, security is top notch, many activity choices, dining options and food is wonderful! You will not find better staff who care more about their residents anywhere other than Westminster Shores!
I was employed by Westminster Shores as HR Director for 14 years, and believe me there is no place like it. The setting is beyond beautiful, and the staff have always been outstanding. The residents are a fantastic group of people who blend into one large happy family who truly care about one another. There is so much for them to do, and staff who delight in seeing that the residents continue to enjoy life to its fullest. I loved my years there, and the Shores will always hold a place in my heart.
Home is where the heart is and my heart is here at Westminster Shores!.
The water is what first drew me to Westminster Shores, but there is so much more that keeps me here. When I first moved to The Shores, I only imagined myself being down here part of the year as I still own a home up north. Now, if I go back to Philadelphia a total of six weeks a year, that will be a lot! I'm hooked.
I came to Florida to get away from winters, and for more sunshine. St. Petersburg holds the Guinness Book of World Records for the most consecutive sunny days and I m enjoying each one.
The St. Petersburg area is very desirable, weather-wise, and culturally, too. There are wonderful museums and musical venues, professional sports, and the beaches. Westminster Shores, in particular, has a really beautiful campus. I can be downtown in 10 or 15 minutes, yet living here is absolutely peaceful. You're in paradise.
I am younger than most residents at The Shores but I didn't want to wait to move to a community like this! I'm retired. I deserve this! I want to enjoy every aspect of this fabulous place that I can, while I can. I'm in a community with retired people here, and that's what I am, too. Retired! My neighbors are so active: They kayak and fish and play pickleball. Fascinating people live here. They have become my family.
It is a wonderful feeling to know that I have everything I need at The Shores. My every need is taken care of from my physical needs to maintenance on my apartment to social and fellowship events and to my meals. What more could I want!
I also like the fact that I can travel without worries. Living here, I just close my door, and I have a feeling of security. I don't have to worry if my hot water heater is going to break, or if it snows, who will shovel the sidewalk in front of my house, or who's going to mow the lawn. It's wonderful!!!!
Come and visit The Shores and you will love the experience!!!
I had visited a resident here, way back when and I was looking around and I thought, this is a nice place, if I ever need something like this. I had an unexpected major surgery, and was lucky enough to be discharged home. I decided that at my age, I could reasonably wake up in a hospital and it would be my last covered day of my stay, and now it would be an emergency decision made by someone who wasn't me. So I chose Westminster Shores! And it is so important that I can say, I chose to come here, I wasn t placed here.
I have been impressed at how much long-term staff we have here. They ve been here 10, 20, 30 years. When employees are happy and taken care of and feel valued, they will stay and those are the employees who do a good job of caring for us.
Now that I live here, I feel like I've known a lot of my neighbors for years! No matter what you do, there's always someone to do it with. I love my apartment and spend time on my balcony looking at the water, trees and abundant birds. My dog & cat moved here with me and this community is so friendly to pets. I also enjoy being able to eat in the dining room with friends. The food is very nicely prepared and there is always something available to enjoy eating without need to shop, cook or clean up.
My late husband and I visited here, and I fell in love with it the moment I came here. We live in a really peaceful and serene natural setting. It s beautiful, full of so many interesting people, and a Presbyterian Church-related community, all of which was very encouraging to me. But we put it on the back burner. After he passed, I had no hesitation.
I was always clueless about keeping the house together. Sure, I could get on the phone and call a plumber or a roofer. But now I don't have to worry about it! I have housekeeping twice a month and someone to take care of the house and the yard. I haven t even turned on the oven once in the four years I ve lived here. It s so nice to have someone taking care of these things.
In the last four years, I have met so many wonderful, professional, caring, service-oriented people! I ve become very involved in serving the community, after I retired from teaching, three years ago. I'm on five committees and I chair four of them. And I was elected volunteer of the year in 2016!
I really feel that God was part of this decision. Because I came here, I became open to the needs of this community, and I really feel like I have expanded myself, opened myself up to other opportunities.
I Wanted to share our families experience with relocating our mother and father in-law into Westminster Shores in ST. Pete. We researched 4 different independent and skilled nursing facilities and this property far exceeded all of the others we researched and toured. We met with Angela Huntley on our first visit and her care, compassion and commitment to not only help us get them into their facility which is usually almost completely full, she also took a very strong personal connection that still exists today With our family 18 months later. The facility is meticulously clean and in great repair. The food in the dining room is fantastic and a great variety of food and once the dining was forced to shut down due to Covid they immediately accommodated them with delivery at their requested time and the food remains to be top notch. The property sits on Little Bayou and Tampa Bay with some of the most spectacular views anywhere in the city. Then factor in the close proximity to downtown St. Pete and Tampa it was an easy decision. We want to thank the entire team including everyone in the office that explained everything in detail and made sure all of our questions were answered. Thanks Westminster!!!!!! JP
We fell in love with Westminster Shores nine years ago, after serving as an Air Force chaplain and a minister. What a beautiful location! And we didn't want our children to have the problems that we had faced, helping our parents go from one assisted living to another, one nursing home to another. So choosing a Continuing Care Retirement Community has made a big difference in providing assurance to us.
We often tell people: Take care in choosing your community and make sure you choose one that is fiscally sound and has a good track record like Westminster Shores, with 60-plus years of successful operation. It's a not-for-profit community, and the profit goes back into making the community better. When you make that kind of an investment, you want to make sure you're choosing a community that is going to be around.
We would really not have the kind of community and the relationships of our peers that we have, if we were still out living in our cul-de-sac. At the same time, you can still do whatever you want to do and you don't have to do anything if you don't want to! This community is so diverse: We're friends with so many different people, and you don't just associate with people who think like you do, or do like you do. That's a very enriching experience.
We first heard about the concept of a Continuing Care Retirement Community like Westminster Shores from our neighbors. We used to talk about the fact that as people age they say that what accelerates the aging process is solitude and loneliness. So it's important from that point of view to be in a community where you have company, and plenty of activities.
Once you go on your first visit, you're almost hooked! But we especially love living here. Here, we have a beautiful residence on the waterfront, spacious and lovely, fantastic kitchen. We enjoy having transportation to the symphony, so we don t have to drive. We have the opportunity to play pickleball or kayak any time we want, too. Plus, we know that we ll be taken care of for life that s the key reason to choose a CCRC. This was a big relief for our children, relieving them of the responsibility of caring for us as we got older.
We also liked Westminster Communities of Florida is a not-for-profit, fiscally conservative and financially sound, and long-range plans for the future of our community.
