I really wonder if the 5 and 4 star reviews are real... the pros, the hotel staff is excellent and the renovated rooms are nice. The cons, the hotel itself is incredibly dated. Most facilities are closed for renovations. Dont believe the photos. The absolute worst part is the location of the hotel and the ABYSMAL SHUTTLE SERVICE. The hotel is easily 30 minutes from the Kyoto center, and the "free shuttle" is incredibly convoluted. With haphazard hours, poor explanations and horrible pickup locations. For example, it will pick you up at Kyoto station, but will not let you get out at Gion Shinon or Seijo Keihan (which it passes by) on the way to the Westin. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. How bad was our experience? Im pretty sure im done with Marriott altogether after this. Thank you for being the absolute low point of our Japan vacation in this wonderful country. Never again.

I visited the blue sky with a lunch buffet on New Year's Day.
From New Year's Day, it was crowded with families.

Live kitchens such as tempura, pancakes and sushi were enriched. It was a good price, but I was satisfied with the content and it was a beautiful venue.

Good location (right next to subway station) but hotel is dated and in need of modernization. Got upgraded to junior suite but that didn't help. Room had a weird smell, room temperature adjustment didn't work, dated room decor. Does not meet typical Westin standard. Westin Osaka, which I stayed right before this, is a much better hotel.

Dated hotel, but perfectly adequate. It looks as if our room was last renovated around 2000, but I guess they're updating many of the rooms now. It is a massive hotel, a little up and out of town. But it is clean, and relatively affordable for what you get.

additional information.
We are currently doing extensive renovations. It seems to reduce 500 rooms to 300 rooms and increase the number of suites. The first Renobe was over this month, so I stayed at the deluxe room immediately. The atmosphere was bright (a little lovely) and of course the equipment was up to date. Personally I like the previous atmosphere, and I used it as a reference when I built my home. Still the comfort does not change. I have added a photo.

We have been using for over 400 nights as a regular lodging.
This is a hotel that distinguishes one after another from luxury hotels in Kyoto. A place where Kyoto has played a role as a guest house for Kyoto for 100 years with Kyoto Hotel (now Okura). The number of rooms will be reduced from 500 to 300 to enter large-scale renovations from June this year, but inconvenience will increase, but its deep appeal will not change.

Although the hotel has a bus from the city, there is only a distance. There is a shift taxi at the door. The landscape is aesthetically pleasing and urban design aesthetics. Breakfast is served at 06:30. Sound insulation is normal, please don't yell or talk loudly.

Polite service. Nice entrance. Nice views. Delicious food. The same is true for any hotel. There are many hotels to remember.
Among them, this hotel is ranked at the top of my favorite hotel. I will tell you that I was impressed first. That is the smell. I'm sensitive to odor, sometimes I feel sorry.
However, this hotel has a very good smell. I did not notice immediately after entering the entrance. The amount was so pleasant, and I was impressed to notice it. This was the first time a hotel with a good smell even in the rooms, hallways and elevators.
I felt that I added it.
Is the room also new? It was really cleaned to every corner.
The food (a full-course dinner of the full chef and a morning buffet) was also very delicious. And, it is a talk without a loneliness that has never been out of place, and casually added a flower to the dish.
I had a great time with my friend who chose to have a sick celebration here.
The scenery from this hotel may be thought that the different season was surely good. (It's not a bad thing. I personally feel that Kyoto is like autumn leaves or snow.) However, I would like to experience the cozy space and the food and service of the staff at this hotel. I will recommend you try it.
I had healing to work with a smile so that I could visit again in the season I personally feel wonderful. Thank you very much.

It is an old hotel, but the location is close to Nanchan Temple and the Heian Shrine. The breakfast is full. If you like to take a walk, you can also go to the Gion and Shijo Karasuma area. Note that the hotel will see Japanese nightclubs on the side of the mountain.

Amazing! The best hotel I have been to in Japan! The Westin is located about a 15min walk into town, a shuttle bus is also provided if you don't fancy the walk. The rooms are very large, clean and well maintained. The level of service is outstanding, all the Staff are very helpful and friendly. When I come back to Japan I will definetley come back here without question.

I stayed for a trip to Kyoto.
There is no complaint, but it's still a hotel, so you don't have dinner. It's a bit boring for me to enjoy cooking at the inn.
However, it may be natural to say that it seems natural that something like "Oh, this is amazing!" Does not occur because it only stays.

The staff has been 100% amazing. Every person does a wonderful job and makes you feel like a champion. The rooms were perfect, new and modern. Bathrooms designed well and great amenities. Breakfast buffet is an outstanding way to start the day. Cocktails from the bar are made with care and served the right way. A few shorts steps from Subway. A free shuttle ride to Gion district. I want to come back as soon as I can.

First time staying at Westin Miyako and service was great, hotel decorations were timely and relevant to the latest cultural activities with good information about the children's day celebrations in Japan. Amenities in the room were also fantastic and their heavenly shower is to die for. The only thing holding this back from being a 5 star review was the slow check in and the unavailability of preferred room with queen bed instead of two single beds. But otherwise the location is peaceful and strategic to Kyoto temples and museums with a few eateries outside as well.

Recently I have not been out, but it is a long-established hotel that paid my grandfather's Japanese paintings, but there are lots of "smart places" that are dotted around in various ways, and if information and money allow, 2-3 days We recognize that it is a suitable hotel to stay

SPG hotel in Okazaki area which is one of the most peaceful location in Kyoto. Shuttle bus is run between this hotel and Kyoto station Hachijo gate. The variation of room charge is huge across seasons.

the staff makes you feel very welcomed and the whole atmosphere is relaxed. Inside the hotel it smells like a nice and fresh perfume. They did us a nice surprise by delivering delicious Honeymoon Cake to our room. We stayed on a non-smoking floor. There's a shuttle bus service that takes you to downtown and Kyoto Station. Great views and nice location with fresh air from the nearby woods on a hill.

The staff is sorry. First of all, on the homepage, the bus station in Kyoto Station is vaguely as Hachijo-guchi and there is no map. Because I do not understand, when I called, I was told before Inoda Coffee, with an attitude of why the unfriendly woman does not understand such things.
I don't come for a long time, so I think it's funny, I walked around the area and it wasn't Inoda coffee, but the bus stopped in front of Hoshino Tei, the bus left in front of me, and I waited for another 20 minutes It has come to an end. It is hotel which can not guide to pick-up bus platform randomly.
The unusual high rating of the review probably bought a review somewhere.

Truly a well-established luxury hotel. It is excellent at hospitality. This is my favorite hotel in Kyoto. The season of autumn leaves is outstanding. You can be satisfied with customers from overseas.

Our stay here was pleasant but nothing to write home about. We had a typical queen sized single bed room on the 9th floor but the room felt a little bit aged. The buffet breakfast was also fine but nothing amazing although the omelet chef was a nice touch. We did appreciate that the hotel also had a free shuttle which dropped people off at Gion which would normally be a 20 min walk. Overall, it was a fine stay although I'm not sure about the value per yen as we stayed there as part of a tour package.

It has just been refurbished and is very beautiful.
I went to the buffet, but I am very happy that dinner is free for one child and one child.
The roast chicken and roast beef were delicious, and the other dishes are delicious.
I think there are few kinds of dishes.
There are many kinds of desserts and I am satisfied.
All were delicious.

It was reopened after the coronal disaster, so I visited.
Like the last time, to the buffet.
The food was changed so that the staff would take it, and each item was stored in a bowl.
As for the container, Staub etc. were used, and I was happy that the lid was kept warm.
The corona measures are well established, the social distance is firmly secured, and I feel that it is a good restaurant that can be used with peace of mind.

I used Biffe at a restaurant called Rakuku, and I was very satisfied with the taste and variety.

I think the hotel staff was very helpful.

This experience was spectacular! Service was attentive and thoughtful, we were upgraded to a city view room that had been recently renovated. It was beautiful, so modern and clean with an incredible view especially at sunrise. There were renovations to the lobby during our stay but there was no disruption because of it - no noises, dust, or construction workers any of the times I walked through. The check in was speedy, friendly, and experienced. The concierge had previously helped me secure a dinner reservation.

One of the leading hotels in Kyoto. There is also a shuttle bus, but in the congested period, transfer to the subway at JR Yamashina Station next to Kyoto Station, and as soon as you get off at Keage Station.
