Place is a joke.. my girlfriend went to the WE at 6am they did many tests.. then told her what the problem was. Then told this hospital stated during the weekend we don't have the people here to do what was needed. 7pm that night she was transferred to Ruby in morgantown. To find out ruby dis blood work and read the paper work from this place and said there nothing wrong with u.. u can go home..
Basically this hospital don't know what they are doing. They cost the state to hire a company out of Oakland md to pick her up in Cumberland to driver her to morgantown.. then hours later I had to drive to morgantown wv from Cumberland to pick up girlfriend.. plus girlfriend lost 2 days of work..
Now if western Maryland known what they was doing all this extra cost wouldn't have happened for no reason

This hospital released to a homeless shelter in 2011. It was the worst experience of my life. They truly did not care. I imagine it is because I was poor with no insurance. I survived no thanks to you.

We went to the ER after my three-year-old fell and cut his head. Our wait time on a Sunday evening was minimal. The pediatric ER staff was fantastic with my son; they kept him calm and as relaxed as possible. Follow up instructions were clear, and all of our questions were answered. We were very impressed with the care given to our son.

I never write reviews because I feel it takes more than one experience to know the negatives and positives of a given situation. However, in this case I was treated so deplorable that I must share. The staff is rude, uncaring and extremely judgemental. The nurses are particularly dismissive and do not answer questions even when asked about medications they are giving you. The admitting doctor only saw me once during a seven day stay. I literally came out of this hospital in worse shape than when I arrived. I felt I had to leave against medical advice and went to a hospital in Winchester, Virginia. After expressing to the doctors at the Winchester hospital what occurred they were speechless. They said that I absolutely made the right choice in leaving or I most likely would have lost my foot, Please, if you value your health and your life, do not go to this hospital unless it is absolutely necessary.

I was in the waiting room with my daughter for almost 2 hours. Before I got up and left and went to another hospital. Staff was very very rude. I made a comment about how long the wait was and a nurse look at me and said I will not have any of that in my hospital. My daughter needed to be seen but that didn't happen at this hospital

This is the dirtiest, most unprofessional hospital with the rudest staff. There are bugs crawling around everywhere and the staff treats people like heroin addicts instead of human beings.

I will be writing a formal complaint to their HR. The staff is not properly trained and this place needs to be cleaned and inspected.

I had a car accident (10/05/2017) and sent to this hospital. Professional people were in charge this day, no doubt about that. I think some French hospitals should copy It was in emergency department. The physician was Lenora Nilantha, I do not know the name of the nurse but both were great Bravo et merci

Spent an hour in the ER, doctor never came in he was waiting for shift change. Started feeling better, decided to leave, told another nurse not mine that I was going to leave my nurse decided to come in to talk to me and told me it would be another 20 to 30 minutes before the next doctor would be in. Glad I wasn't dying! Very poorly run hospital, upper management should be ashamed of themselves!! Only thinking about their image and their pocketbooks!! We once had two very good hospitals in the area, now we have a terrible one!

My Fiance came in at about 3:30 PM with chest pain and is currently pregnant and she then proceeds to have to wait for 4 and half hours before she gets seen and then they take what is now closing in on 3 and half hours and we have seen the doctor twice once for an initial diagnosis which was a couple meds and then they came and caused my Fiance to vomit, and urinate herself symptom of her pregnancy, well we make a call for the nurse using the in room call button which takes the nurse 15 minutes to show up to and to which she reacts completely dumbfounded and the finally get her changed and the doctor comes back in about an hour and a half later to say he is going to prescribe her some of the meds that she puked up and we have no idea how she reacts to. She finally got discharged 8 hours after coming in with essentially glorified nausea.

Deeply disappointed in my experience with Western Maryland Health System s current protocol on patient visitation. My mother had a medical emergency and due to not living locally I was unable to respond during the crisis. Her elderly mother has been her primary visitor and has inconsistent transportation. I am now in the area and have been denied seeing my mother. This has essentially increased her blood pressure (part of the medical emergency) which is one of the factors keeping her from being discharged. I was previously told, along with another immediate family member, that my mother would be able to change the name of her visitor. This was inaccurate information and now my family is suffering from poor communication and potential people pleasing. The staff my family and I have been in communication with do not seem to focus on patient wellness or look at the patient holistically. However- The medical professionals have made a great treatment plan for my mother moving forward- but patient advocacy and mental wellness are not on their radar.

Hospitals are supposed to be a caring facility were you and your love ones can go when feeling ill, emergencies and/or having medical issues that needs immediately attention. A place were you should feel like you are in great hands, cared for and treated equally with respect , a place to make you feel better not worst. This place, the rudest, inconsiderate, unprofessional, uncaring and racist medical center EVER! My son, a college student waited 5 hours in pain before I told him to leave without being called. He politely asked the receptionist several times about his placed, after seeing other new patients walk in after him and go to the back to be seen by doctors. My son was there because of chest pains but a guy with a black eye was seen before him when he arrived an hour after him; how ridiculous is this! Billing certainly made sure they questioned his insurance information... This is truly sad and unacceptable. I feel like the long wait was intentionally. After reading the many other reviews, I truly understand. I wish I never suggested this hospital to my son, only to make him feel worst...

I despise having anything done here. It's a small town and they verify your personal information during registration for everyone to hear. I hand them my DL and still have to say it out loud. When you go in, you get a number...do they use that to call you back? Nope, they bellow your name for all to hear. I'd swear there is a HIPAA violation in this process somewhere.

Family members were bought in by ambulance from car accident. Doctor had them walk out to waiting room. Sat for over 2 hrs before finally being taken back to an emergancy room to be seen. Doc came in checked them out did x-ray after another hr. Took almost 2 hrs to get released. Nurses had no clue . We we next to nurses station and saw their charts just sitting there after doc told Nurses they could go. Nurses to busy chatting about who was doing who while another one sat and was looking at web sites. Know it wasn't hospital related it was a food web site for home use. Spent a total of 6 hrs. In this hell.

My sister was in and out of this hospital so many times. She had several health issues. The doctors in the floor are called Hospitalists I'm not exactly sure if they are Pa's?? My sister was on many medications per her doctors one of many times one point she went to the hospital and couldn't breath. She was ordered a breathing treatment. A few days later she was back again and was admitte, she starting having other issues, bleeding in her abdomen also again she couldn't breath. Spoke with a nurse about other issues and I was told they treat the symptoms she came in with! WHAT..We Finally had her transferred to Potamac hospital. They checked her out, one reason she couldn't breath was she has congestive heart failure. The hospital said they were so surprised with the many things wrong her. They sent her by ambulance to Ruby memirial. My sister was there for 25 days . The doctor said there was so much wrong with her. He stated he would fix one thing wrong with her ,he would have an emergency on another issue. We were actually told she should of been there a lot sooner. The doctor finally suggested we bring her hime. My sister was home 5 hours before she passed. I spent a lot of time at western Maryland hospital. This hospital is like a clinic. I would never for any reason . There are many more things I could say, it's too many to continue writing. Let me also the interject that she was treated at the ER. Was sent hime. This hospital is connected to another hospital I believe in Hagerstown, this hospital is the same as ours.it has shown they don't worry as much about the patients ratios. I wonder how many people have lived vs the ones who didn't. This is all about the money. Terrible place for very I'll patients.

Always slow. Hope you aren't in an actual emergency. If the workers in this E.R. moved any slower, they'd be moving in reverse. You think your health is important until you come here and realize it's nothing more than someone else's paycheck. Never will you feel as unimportant as you do when you finally... finally leave this hospital. Overpaid, understaffed, inconsiderate, money-hungry clowns is the absolute nicest thing i can say about this facility. Go to Keyser or Morgantown 99% of the time.

If your a drug addict, it's the place to be! If you are genuinely hurt and seeking help find a better level of care else where! Returned after 5 days when no improvement was made and was sent away with another script when I havent finished or even taken the first one as I'm not a fan of pain pills as all they do is mask and hide what is really going on.

I lived and can recommend this place unconditionally. WMRMC has all the oddities of any large hospital. The old and the ill - the young and the scared - all walking, sitting or laying around impatiently, in hopes of getting help and help is what the nurses, doctors and staff give to all to the best of their abilities. I tend to look for the best in people and in general I never had to look deep to see folks trying to help those in need.

Poorly run hospital. The "VALUE CARE" system is poorly used at WMHS. There is no communication between specialists or from lead doctor. The nurses are great, but are so overworked the care is lacking. If the nurses do the right thing, but is outside the "excepted" practice, they usually are fired. The poor management has made it where there are very few veteran nurses. Most of the nurses have little to no experience. Lucky for the hospital, they do try their best. If it wasn't for the Cardiology Dept., at WMHS, the hospital would be useless. I have told my wife, "If I can make it to another hospital, take me there."

My Mother had surgery in February 2016 to remove a...

My Mother had surgery in February 2016 to remove a tumor left behind from a large tumor removal with the kidney a few years prior. Dr Perusis was the operating doctor in 2016. 'Easy' he said. Afterwards He said when he got in there 'all hell broke loose.' No kidding.
He ruptured my Mother's spleen, creating a 12" hematoma. (Dr Mavromatis only monitored for 16 months but never treated.) He also said he removed the tail of her pancreas- which he did not, he said the tumor was attached to her adrenal gland, and he wasn't able to remove her cancer. He didn't even biopsy the tumor. So essentially she came out of surgery far worse than when she'd gone in. The doctors at the hospital do not talk to each other. They send you for tests but don't list all the tests they want done, creating a headache for the patients ;who's in pain to begin with, to come back for more tests. Tests. Tests. No diagnosis. No treatment just monitoring. The staff in the buildings don't talk to each other either. Just keep the patients coming back for bloodwork. Oh and apparently they aren't allowed to refer you to other specialists so if you are seriously ill, like my Mom, you have to take everything into your own hands because the case workers they assign never call their patients or advocate for the patient in the least. I don't know how many times wrong copies of tests were given or how many office visits were soooo over booked my Mom got passed up. Or the staff left her in a waiting room forgotten. The staff is rude. From the doctors down. The doctors are incompetent and I just pray your loved one isn't misdiagnosed or strung along without results like my Mom. This hospital should be VERY RELIEVED my mother isn't into suing because there's so many cases that could be filed against this hospital from the top down. After getting an appointment at Univ of Md, Dr Mavromatis actually had the gull to tell my Mom she 'was glad she was finally going to get help.' What the heck...under her care for 16 months and thanks to my sister insisting on a second opinion when my Moms condition kept getting worse, she says she's glad mom was getting help----WHY DIDN'T Dr Mavromatis get her help?!!! Please, save yourself months even years of mental frustration and possible death- stay away from Western Maryland Regional Hospital in Cumberland MD!!!!

This is the worst hospital I have attended. For years now, my asthma has put me in the hospital and I m always hospitalized. I went to this hospital s emergency room via ambulance because I had shortness of breath and chest pain. They made me sit in the waiting room for hours! Watching me struggle and use my inhaler that was not making anything better. When I finally got back into a room I was seen my a doctor. I described what I was feeling and she began to push so hard on my chest she was knocking the little air I had left out of me. I sat up to catch my breathe and she told me to lay back down! Then she told me my chest hurts because I have a virus. She then left the room and didn t even explain to me what tests she was doing. I waited 4 hours for all of the 3 tests I had done to come back and then she told me it was normal, argued with me when I told her I didn t feel right and then she sent the nurse in to discharge me. I contacted the hospital I had previously been seen at for the same issue and they told me I should come in because it does not sound normal. These people are unprofessional, rude, no sympathy or empathy for others honestly the list goes on. If you have another hospital near you please go there before you come here.

My dad was brought into an ER room at 1 pm, a doctor came in immediately and was seen. Sat for another 2 hours to a 5 min ct scan. Brought back to the room where he was told he would be kept overnight for observation. It is now 830 and still sitting and waiting for someone to take him to his room without any food all day. Doctor was great. The support staff or communication is horrible): I hope I don t have to wait for them much longer

This hospital is the biggest disgrace in medicine. I have a surgery for tomorrow and I still have no idea what time it is. I ve called multiple places within the hospital and none of them can give me a answer on when my surgery will begin. The doctor who is performing the surgery has disconnected his phone. I was told they would call me with a time today before 4:30 PM and it is now 4:53 PM.

This review is purely for the ER bedside manner of Dr. Kinsey. The nurses were lovely, the PA was lovely. This doctor is a sorry excuse of a health care provider who couldn t even bother to read a chart before entering a patient s room. When presented with questions about care, procedure, and conflicting opinions on what was wrong he chose to walk out of the room instead of addressing the patient s concerns. Not only did he walk out of the room mid question once, he did it twice! I ve never seen such a thing! The patient was a close friend of mine that I accompanied to the ER. Yes, she was in distress (hence being in the ER). However, the questions she asked were valid and easily answerable (as proven by all the wonderful nurses and the P.A.). We wasted about five hours on something that should have taken maybe two hours tops with the rush that was occurring at the time.

Its a nice clean facility. That's about where the positives end. The wait time is outrageous. Be prepared to wait for multiple hours just to be seen in the emergency room - - EVEN WHEN THEY AREN'T BUSY!!! There are some great doctors that work there, but I think they are grossly understaffed.

Afterwards wouldn't even send me the claim, until having to fight(calling back and forth pleading the hospital) for it.
