Next to a big mall and shuttle service to Autzen for games. Clean but large, slightly dated rooms exceptionally quiet tho.

It was a beautiful set up. The staff was amazing and the food was delicious
Beautiful Sunset view over the Willamette River! I wish I had a picture of it!! Great memories of New Years Eve events with Satin Love Orchestra and those grand hotel rooms and fun in the pool..
Good times!
Definitely needs some money put in for updating, still nice but outdated
Had a lovely breakfast on the patio overlooking the river. We had a large party of 7 and they were great at accommodating our request for patio seating. Our food was fantastic. Custom omelette was super fluffy and stuffed with sausage, mushrooms and bacon. They made a perfect latte to go with it. Other favorites were the Apple cinnamon pancakes, bananas Foster French toast and steak hash. Will definitely come back.
We had a terrible experience under their claimed "Game Day" policy. Although check in time is advertised to be 4:00, our room was not available until after 8:00 pm. No effort was made to make accommodations to ourselves and the many, many other guests who were displaced during this time. (We were not alone in complaining and they had a special table set up with keys for all the people who did not receive rooms.) The way the staff reacted to our concerns was disingenuous and it was clear that this was a common occurrence. The staff admitted that they would charge extra to those guests who stayed past check out. However, although the Valley River Inn was receiving extra compensation for the hold-over guests, they were not willing to do anything for the displaced guests. The result is that Valley River Inn is getting paid twice for renting the same room to two sets of guests. We will make every effort to stay anywhere else but the Valley River Inn.
The business meeting accommodations and catering we're well done.
Great hotel by the river. Large comfy rooms and beautiful lobby and restaurant.
Hotel staff was very friendly. Check in was easy. Fitness room is under equip and hot.
It was ok... Nice atmosphere, great service, but food was under par..
The service and employees were wonderful, but the room was pretty meh. The bathroom could have been cleaner; there was a bit of mold on the shower curtain and ceiling. Like the coffee and hair dryer though.
This place is truly awful. Where to start? The rooms smell like the swamp gas outside from the river. It wasn t just our room. The air conditioning appears to waft the smelly air inside your room. We confirmed the smell by stepping outside to inhale some of the lovely swamp gas. The lobby is the nicest part of the hotel, which is where the niceness ends. The locks on the sliding glass doors were busted (oh yeah, real secure here in the ghetto), the screen sliders were busted apart and didn t shut correctly, and all of this could be forgivable if I did have to listen to the troll one story above us that trudged along the creaky floors. We could hear every foot step, every conversation, this person was up until 11:45pm, and woke up at 7:04am. I know this because I was awoke to the splendid sound of them stomping around the room nonstop at those very hours. We stayed in room 118. I have no idea why this person was constantly moving around. Regardless, the person staying above us is not at fault. The hotel is to blame. This place is a (Poorly)renovated ghetto motel 6. They said they sanitized the rooms (post Covid-19 here) yet, we found finger prints and streaks on the Glass and countertops, and there was human body hair on the bed sheets. We were also told the restaurant and bar would be open, which is why we chose this armpit in the first place. Guess what? They lied. This place is truly awful. I will never stay here again, and doubt I will stay in Eugene again. This whole city is ghetto. Save yourself the time, drive to Portland instead.
(1) Location: lovely location next to the river. Nice mixed use path to walk/bike. It is annoyingly located next to the mall, though. Feels very suburban if you get away from the river trail. (2) rooms: great if you have a river view! Probably less interesting otherwise (3) facilities: decent restaurant with great service. Great river views for brunch, dinner, happy hour etc. Would definitely come back!
It is a lovely setting in some ways, but it is over priced for the quality of accommodations and level of service. The front desk staff is hit or miss varying from very nice and accommodating, to nonchalant and dismissive, to just plain rude. The rooms need updating and the food service and restaurant is mediocre and again, overpriced.
Booked through Priceline! What a rip-off. Super outdated. Rooms reeks cigarette smoking.
Attended a Google Seminar at the Valley River Inn. The place is clean and very nice. I have eaten and visited on multiple occasions but haven't ever stayed in the hotel.
Staff are great. Dated but decent rooms. Rooms could feel a lot cleaner (reason for 2 stars). Shower toiletries dispensers gross, Keurig dusty and grimy. :( Would recommend the Comfort Inn in Roseburg over this property.
No handicap parking outside patio room. Would of been a 2 block walk had I came in later (7:00 PM) No ice-machine. Note even Motel 6 is not this cheap. Bottom room outside patio, had to walk thru wet mud and barkdust to come around patio enclosure. To cheap to extent the patio slab another 2 feet, to keep mud etc from coming in on the rug. Ice bucket? small 2 cup bucket. Couldn't have been for ice, because there wasn't a working ice machine. Found ice machine after walking for 1 hour. Found a non working ice machine on 2nd floor in a broom closet. Out side office handicap, no ramp coming in. Stair steps ? Not handicap friendly. Next time will go to Motel 6. Come back again, NO!
It's pretty nice, much more scenic than it appears from the parking lot
..the atmosphere is good rooms are clean staff are way nice..
Went for my companies employee appreciation. The decorations were lovely and the staff was amazingly friendly and helpful.
Clean and close to walking trail, the mall and restaurants
What a nice spot. Clean, great service, great restaurant, right beside a nice river... And plenty of services nearby.
I attended a professional event for work. We had lunch overlooking the river. Great view, excellent service, tasty food, and an overall wonderful experience because of the staff and venue
The Managers are amazing people. Customer service can be a difficult job, They met and exceed my expectations when a difficult situation arose. My wife and daughter had an amazing time, for that I am deeply grateful.
The room was large and clean basically nice and good value for the cost. But the walls and ceiling are paper thin. We were on the first floor and we could hear the people above us as loudly as if they were in our laps. If you stay here, try to get a room on the 3rd floor.
The Columbia room is very nice and the servers were great!
This hotel is awesome! Right away when I walked in I noticed the massive chandeliers hanging from the wall, the roaring fire and an older rustic like cabin feel. I'm a sucker for all things cabin so this really struck a soft spot for me.
The entire trip I felt very relaxed looking out the windows to find big green trees and an ever flowing river. If you can get a room facing the river I highly recommend it.
Had breakfast at the hotels restaurant Sweet Waters. Paid, I believe, $16 for the breakfast buffet which included coffee or tea and it was well worth it. When I got here everyone raved about the bacon and I was not disappointed one bit, it was delicious!
I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking to relax, go for business (big meeting rooms and places to sit) or to escape the world for a weekend. Can feel very disconnected if you need it to which can be an amazing thing every once in a while.
Thank you for the awesome stay!
Service was horrible and we had a very poor watier. We left after 10 minutes when no one noticed us.
Great staff and was cheap for a great deluxe room I mean like $138 for a deluxe room and 2 queen beds how great is that !! The place was big and had a Resturant and a pool. My only problem was the other side of the hotel doesn t have an elevator and I could hear the people that are staying up stairs walking the roof shakes and also the room I was staying in if we walked a little or stomped the lamp shaked but overall it was good
Really good food at the in-house restaurant . Very friendly staff willing to assist in any way possible
I didn't stay in a room so I can't give it any reviews but it looked like a nice place
This place was the most awful stay I've ever had. I would give a negative star. I Paid a lot of money for myself and my daughter for her wedding. It truly was 5 days of pure hell. Yes it was a deluxe king bedroom but the bed was so hard and uncomfortable I could not even sleep at all and I was booked for 4 F-ing nights. The room looked nice and it was clean. But when I asked for a new clean comforter I got nothing and I asked twice. Apparently if you want clean towels you have to go down the hall, find the maids cart and get your own. The ridiculous elevator, hallway and windows were disgustingly filthy. The neighbors were so loud it was like they were Yelling In My Room. Next door noise was bad, but the hallway noise was so F-ing loud, that by the time I'd no sleep on the second day of no sleep I was in tears. When we went down to the Sweetwater Restraunt we had to seat ourselves while we watched others being served outside in 85%. Hello Can We Get Served with air conditioning? Apparently Not.. After 20 minutes we got up and walked out. Horrible service and very rude waitstaff. Room service was pretty good cause we were starving. The food was just okay but it was fast and the girls were polite. Overall staying here totally ruined my daughters wedding for me. I will never come again and hope you'll take care and stay away from this place.
Nice place. Comfortable rooms and bed. Slept well. And the river is a good view when eating at the restaurant.
This was a really nice hotel. My only gripe is we stayed on a Thursday night and it's now Tuesday evening and the hold they placed on my debit card is still pending on my bank card. Also would have been nice if breakfast was included with our room.
Other than that, it was a nice stay and we'd stay again.
I had given my CC details while booking but i stayed for 4 days under corporate account. While checking out i was assured that i won't be charged and if such case comes, they'd give me a call to notify. But a week later when i look into my statement, i was charged. Really poor service. Almost everyone stayed at the other hotel but i chose to stay at Valley river as it is a near walk from office but never again.
Stayed here for the Eugene marathon and had an overall pleasant experience. The rooms are clean and adequate, with a great lobby. I gave them an extra star because they extended the check out time for everyone due to the marathon. That extra time was really appreciated after the race and allowed me the chance for a much needed shower! Also, the race shuttle picked up right outside the lobby, so that was a bonus. On the negative side, the room doors tend to slam shut, which is quite loud and startling. I would stay here again if I run this race in the future, but probably not otherwise.
Nice venue for convention, disappointed in last day's convention meals.
If possible, we stay here when visiting Eugene Oregon
The lobby had comfy furnishings and a warm atmosphere (with great air conditioning). I only visited for a seminar so no information about the rooms. The ballroom was charming when the lights were dim. I wouldn't guess a stay would be unpleasant in any way, unless you despise being near free cucumber/lemon water (cucumber has a powerful flavor, those poor lemons don't stand a chance) ...
Stayed here for a work meeting comfortable beds friendly staff
Great Hotel in a Fabulous location. Also, their restaurant was a great way to end the day as it sits on the river. Food was good. Our party if three had the Pot roast , burger and spicy chicken sandwich. All items we're cooked to perfection. But the real asset to this hotel is their wait staff. Very accommodating, friendly and all smiles. Samantha was our waitress and made our dinner experience wonderful. We will definitely be back.
Classic, older conference hotel. They have updated it as best they can and I would recommend this place to anyone.
The rooms were very spacious and clean. Having a balcony made the stay even more enjoyable. We will certainly return
Pretty hotel in a great spot for shopping and Ducks games
They have changed not what they used to be- lot of Money for not the amenities
If you love Eugene, then you will like the Valley River Inn. I don't say you'll love it because there are parts you won't like. Restaurant staff for day time shift is un-attentive and act like they really don't want to be there. They spent more time talking to each other and ignoring everything else.
That said.., location, pet friendly and history make it a really nice place
To start off, this place was booked for a wedding night and two nights after. My sister had just been married and after the whole event went to a room she had booked with a "pool" view. Apparently that actually meant a view of the parking lot. A $200/night view of the parking lot. When she complained they only offered her a complimentary bottle of champagne that had already been offered as part of the room and still hadn't made it to her room during dinner and drinks with family from out of town.
And during dinner and drinks, we recieved some if the worst customer service I had seen in awhile. Not only were we ignored, we actually had to find our waitress and re-order several times. The people and the staff there treated us as if we were pests for being jovial. I really hope they see this and get their act together, that place isn't so nice that customer service isn't still the most important part of your job.
Great rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Really nice view of river. Fireplace in the lobby area, inside restaurant is a bit high end but plenty of eating options in the mall right next to the hotel if you're looking for something else. Lots of meeting rooms and free WiFi
Dirty bad service . Motel 6 in Springfield was a much cleaner better service and the heater didn't sound like a jet taking off
Very friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant in the hotel is delicious and is right along the river so you have a perfect view. Getting around the hotel to rooms 500-700 was initially a little confusing and I got lost once or twice. Right next to the mall and other commercial stores.
The lobby is very lovely and the people were friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be that it was too warm. They shrugged it off as it just being because there were so many people but this is a venue that is meant to have many people so I would assume it to be a reasonable expectation that they would be able to better accommodate the temperature needs.
Enjoyable place to eat. Food is good, atmosphere is great
My husband and I stayed at the Valley River Inn while traveling. We were pleased to have been upgraded to a king suite, complete with a large walk-in shower, living room, dining area, bedroom and balcony overlooking the river! Everything was clean and more than adequate. We walked along the paved trail by the river and enjoyed stretching our legs after the long drive. The staff was helpful, courteous and pleasant. The bed was very comfortable. Everything in the room was in working order. We felt safe and secure and had no worries regarding our personal items. We would stay here again and would definitely book the King suite!
Nice common area and bar and restaurant. They were overwhelmed trying to get people checked in on game day and we had to wait until after the game. Room was average, the bar was closed after the game which could have brought in a lot of business for them including ours.
Very nice I love it just one thing I could hook up my wifi
I love the restaurant. The hotel has a nice atmosphere.
Room was dirty, ceiling was creaking from guest above us. Web sight was definitely not correct, furniture in the room was scratched up and very old. The shower was a joke! The inn needs to be updated to deserve the price that we paid.
This place is solid. I usually go there every year for the Festival of Trees, and they provide and classy experience all around.
Ate at Sweetwater for Happy Hour. Great location, delicious food, and wonderful atmosphere. The bacon infused popcorn is incredible! Looking forward to visiting again in the future when we are in town.
Great view great service. Only problem are the walls are a little thin so you hear a lot.
Beautiful hotel..Staff was amazing! But the beds need updated, very uncomfortable! Coverlets on beds had stains on them also. Also would be nice if staff would clean elevators more, there was boogers smeared on inside elevator walls, never got cleaned all night.
2015.05.09: This place is OK. It's overpriced for what it is. The rooms are nice and clean (we stayed in a pet-friendly suite), but this place isn't terribly special. It's right next to strip-malls and a shopping mall. Not really in nature at all. It is close to the river, and there's a nice trail that runs along the river, but it's not easy to get in the river to swim. You can see a nice park on the other side of the river, but it's not easy to cross over the river by foot (there's a bridge close-by, but it doesn't have a sidewalk).
Great staff. Accommodating. Clean room, beautiful property. Will make this my top choice when I travel.
Attended a job fair as a presenter. Absolutely fantastic experience.
Valley River Inn is an excellent place to stay during a conference. Was a beautiful October few days I was there. The hotel sits right on the Willamette River and there is a walking path that you can access from the hotel so that is a plus. Beautiful restaurant and bar overlooking the river very easy to relax in. Staff is very friendly. Accomodations are okay just your average bed comfort and room amenities large bathtubs hair dryers in the rooms the standard cable TV
Some of the best service I've ever gotten. Kudos to your excellent staff.
