Wellington Park Retirement Residence Review

I want to thank the Chartwell staff for the wonderful care you gave my mother after her recent fall. I really can’t say enough about the truly outstanding way in which the nurses came to the rescue, assed the situation and sprung into action calling an ambulance and notifying me. They even cleaned up the mess which I understand from mom was quite substantial. When she returned home I was so grateful to find out that the nurses were checking on mom every four hours for three days giving me such peace of mind. My mom could not say enough about how kind and thorough and competent the nurse/PSW were. She had beautiful meals brought to her room….everyone not only did their part but did it with a sweet spirit and kind heart. I hope you will pass on our deepest gratitude to your staff, they were such a blessing!

Also, I have noticed how beautiful the gardens are kept around the building. When I pull in and see the tables, umbrellas and residence enjoying a bbq I feel like I am pulling into a resort! The weekly barbecues are brilliant! Mom had one of those meals brought up to her room when I was there and it looked like a high end restaurant! Delicious!

I have been a resident here for 11 years. They have been happy years and I am grateful for the wonderful care I receive from all your staff and I would highly recommend it to all who are looking for a place to spend their retirement years. On Oct 17 I turned 98 years of age and am grateful for all the years I have enjoyed here at Wellington Park. It has been a joy. My Best wishes to all the Staff. I really enjoy the way things run so smoothly. I really enjoy the entertainment that is offered. Staff are very very nice. The food appeals to me and find it very satisfactory. I find that everything is clean and organized and presented very well. I really feel that this is a place i could call home.

My mother who is 96 years old has been a resident at Wellington Park Terrace for approximately 9 months. Prior to that, she lived with me in my home for 11 years. A broken hip as a result of a fall last summer was the main reason for this move. The original plan was to move her to Wellington Park temporarily until arrangements could be made at a long-term care facility. After being there just for just a few short weeks and seeing the kind of care and service she was receiving, I decided Wellington Park was the place for her. The management and staff are so caring, and they are always there to help with any request. I have dealt with Amelia on several occasions and her genuine interest in my mom s needs is apparent. She is friendly, approachable and answers questions and gets back to you promptly (even outside of normal business hours). I know I can count on her. Other staff that I have dealt with are energized and willing to help in any way they can. There is a true interest by all the staff, in the well being of all the residents and I can relax knowing mom is being well looked after. My sincere thanks to all at Wellington Park for being so caring and making mom s new home so enjoyable and comfortable.

My experience at Chartwell Wellington Park began when I came here 5 and 1/2 months ago. My wife came here for respite care and passed away six weeks later. Not knowing what to do or where to go and being very confused - rather than returning to my house, I stayed on at Chartwell Wellington Park. I've met so many wonderful people who have helped me in so many ways, both staff and residents. So much wonderful support from other residents who knew what I was feeling in my grieving process. They were so helpful and I don't know how I would have coped living away from here. So much to do - so much wonderful music and entertainment. The experience of other residents helped ease the burden of my grief and I was no longer alone. Because of my new friends at Chartwell Wellington Park, I can make a new life, a new beginning.

My mother has lived at Wellington Park since it opened. She loves living there and receives excellent care from the staff. They try their best to provide for her needs and keep her safe.

My Mother will be turning 100 years old at the end of this year. I have nothing but praise for the Management and Staff at Chartwell Wellington Park. They have been proactive since the begining of the pandemic and through their diligence, outstanding care and protocols they remain 100% COVID free.
The Nursing staff headed by Martha is excellent. My Mom always receives great care. They are always quick to notify me of any problems or needs that pertain to my mother. It has been very difficult to not be able to visit her during these stressful times but I rest easy because she is there and in good hands.

Chartwell is a lovely seniors residence. It is airy and bright presenting a welcoming environment. Everyone on staff tries very hard to meet your expectations. Suzanne who has cleaned my room and has done my laundry does an exceptional job. Her cheery manner always brightens my day. Psw Kim has a wonderful,caring way about her. Her quality of care giving is a reflection of her compassion.The ladies in the dining room provide high quality service and familiarize themselves with the tastes and needs of the residents they serve. Unfortuantely they are not enough of them at times. My main suggestion is that more staff are needed in every department . In summary i would recommend Chartwell Wellington Park to anyone looking for a retirement residence because of the exemplary staff. My respite stay has been made most enjoyable by everyone at Chartwell.

A caring, loving care-full place. They have our full confidence and have been strong communicators with loved ones as well.

Making the transition to an assisted living facility is challenge for all members of the family. The staff at Chartwell were so accommodating and compassionate throughout the transition. The staff, facility, programs, food, and care are outstanding. When there are concerns with family, they always ensure that I am aware and part of the care plan. The health and well being of my parents have improved because of this care.

Chartwell is a wonderful place. The staff are caring and very professional. There are very interesting things to do such as fitness classes, games and attending musical events. I have never heard a complaint from a resident .

Chartwell Wellington Park is a great place to feel at home . My friend stayed for a recovery/respite period after her discharge from the hospital. There she enjoyed her life like never before! She got excellent care, made new friends, welcomed her family & friends in her comfortable suite and could invite them for a delicious meal in the grand dinning room. She enjoyed the entertainments, especially the music concert, the beautiful decor, and the smiles from staff and residents. My sincere thanks to all the wonderful staff and residents who create this friendly & warm ambience that makes Wellington Park an outstanding retirement home. Highly recommended!

The staff at Wellington Park are top notch. All of them. My parents were lucky enough to move into respite care at the same time. My mom passed soon after and my dad is still there. I feel confident that his needs are being met. I miss him during these Covid days but know he s being cared for.

Trina and the Wellington Team are wonderful! The facility is clean and beautiful and one thing you'll consistently hear from residents is how much they like the meals. I'm extremely impressed with how they have navigated COVID. They have kept mom and their residents safe and provided clear and transparent communication for family members on a regular basis. It gives me great peace of mind to know she is safe and being well taken care of. I'm truly grateful:)

Chartwell Wellington Park staff are a Godsend! I had the opportunity a couple of months ago to shadow their family physician. She and the nurses and PSWs in the Nursing and Health & Wellness department were enthusiastic, very knowledgeable and eager to show me how they best care for the needs for all the residents at Chartwell! The genuine care and concern the staff have for all the residents is heartwarming and the best in the region!

As a health student at the University of Waterloo, seeing an excellent level of geriatric healthcare in this beautiful retirement living space motivates me to continue studying to follow in the footsteps of the wonderful staff at Chartwell Wellington Park!

My main experience is with the Retirement Living Consultant volunteering with my Seniors Connecting group. Her help with this group and genuine interest in seniors and the elderly is apparent to our group. She is friendly , approachable and answers questions or gets back to you promptly. I can count on her. Other staff who have assisted with our group are energized and willing to help our seniors in any way they can. These same traits are also noted when I have visited the Residence and spoke with front line employees. It is a welcoming environment and I am impressed!

Recently visited a friend for lunch at Wellington Park, what a lovely place. Staff are friendly, professional and helpful - make you feel right at home. Our lunch was delicious and the home itself is beautiful and bright with many activities going on.

Living at Chartwell Wellington Park for the past 11 years has been one of the happiest periods of my life. Excellent, friendly staff, range of programs and enjoyable choices of food. My cat lives with me.

I visited the Wellington Park Retirement Residence many years ago and recently returned looking for options for my aging dad. WOW! So different than I remember. The entire main floor has been beautifully renovated.But what really impressed me was the activity in the home. The changes for my dad will be difficult but seeing the opportunities he will have to keep social and make friends makes me feel so much more comfortable. I will definitely be back.

We recently had to move my aunt from Chartwell Wellington and the staff could not have been more helpful and understanding. Angie, the manager, was particularly helpful and made the entire process so much easier for all of us. Thank you!!!

I like everything about Wellington Park. What I find so incredible is there is always someone to help you with a smile. The staff are always so helpful and friendly. It's homey and quiet and I love living here.

The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff are kind and helpful. BUT the food is not always good especially at the 2nd seating. The kitchen seems disorganized and often there isn't enough staff.

My father moved in to Chartwell of Wellington Park in December 2018.
Moving from your independent home to a retirement facility is normally thought to be a traumatic experience. My father has stated that the move to Chartwell Wellington Park was a non-event. The staff and residents were directly responsible for this seamless move. Within a month Chartwell was my fathers home and he has never given a thought to his last residence. The young and vibrant staff make the experience at Chartwell fun for all of the residents.

Had the pleasure of working with A.J. Orell at the facility. The building and the staff are all top notch! The residence is very clean and well looked after, people seem to care about their work and workmanship. Residents at the facility seem very happy! Top marks!!

I love how smoothly Wellington Park runs. It gives me a sense of privacy. The staff is so helpful, friendly and caring. I find there is tremendous professionalism. If I live forever, I would stay here.

Wellington Park Chartwell is the best home for me as a senior and I found a family. Staff and food are excellent.

As an owner of In Order Co., a professional organizing company, one of our service is to support seniors with the downsizing process. We recently had the opportunity to work directly with Amelia at Chartwell Wellington Park and it was a fantastic experience! Amelia was working with a couple who was planning to move from their family home to Wellington Park. She recognized that they needed extra support with their move and reached out to us to help. Amelia had their best interests at heart and together we supported the couple through the entire process. In Order Co. is proud to work with Chartwell Wellington Park as they continue to demonstrate to us that they go above and beyond to make the transition for their residents as easy as possible.

Careful, considerate management coupled with a professional staff that goes the "extra mile" every day to make residents as comfortable as they can be.

We have been residents at Chartwell Wellington Park for over one month. The staff here have made us feel so welcome. Our rooms are bright, cheerful and we overlook a garden. The meals are excellent. The variety is wonderful. We appreciate all the efforts to keep us safe from COVID-19. We look forward to the return of the many activities. Our thanks to everyone.

The staff at Wellington Park are very friendly, caring and helpful. Management, nurses, PSWs, receptionists, hair dresser, cleaning and maintenance staff all seem to know all the residents by name. The facilities are comfortable, clean and well maintained. I especially enjoy the meals and the frequent musical entertainers.

The biggest problem with Wellington Park is the food. My grandmother lives there and some of the meals she gets you shouldn't see in a retirement home.
She was telling me about the time she got pizza for dinner and how she couldn't eat it because she has dentures. Or when both her lunch and dinner are pasta meals. And for some reason they decided to serve tacos. Why would you think tacos are a good meal choice for a senior. I get that the $5000.00 they pay per month goes to renting the apartment and keeping them safe, but some of that money should go to better food.
I also want to point out, I had a meal with my grandmother in the dinning hall and it was the worst meal I ever had. When I have meals with her, I take her out for dinner.
