Casa do Caminho was such a wonderful experience! I attended this institution as part of a Study Abroad experience with the University of Delaware, in the U.S. We traveled to Rio, and were received with great hospitality from the people of Caminhos Language Centre. I got to meet people from all over the world, and had the privilege to be taught Portuguese by very professional, but also very relate able instructors! Not only were we taught formal Portuguese, but also colloquial phrases, and were immersed into the Brazilian culture with various activities planned throughout the weeks. I strongly recommended this organization, to anyone looking to learn Portuguese.

I had my first formal group lesson in Portuguese at Casa Do Caminho and really felt my communication skills improve within the first 2 weeks. My professor, Leonardo, was great. He did a thorough job in explaining all the grammar, and made classroom discussion interesting by covering cultural topics like music, Brasilian history and current events. I also made a few friends here and had the opportunity to practice my Portuguese with them outside the classroom. Deborah is also great! I had a lot fun talking to her during my private courses and would recommend her to any student interested in one-on-one lessons.

The course has a team of excellent teachers and a lively staff always ready to help. It also has several fun extra activities, which is a great advantage! =)

Casa do Caminho Language Centre is the ideal place to learn Brazilian Portuguese for all levels and it's definitely one of the best schools to attend in Rio de Janeiro. As you enter the school, you immediately can feel the good ambiance when speaking to the teachers and the volunteers. The teachers have extensive experience and provide you the tools you need to learn the difficult grammar and toning of the language.They also have professional services such as CV translation. The strength of the school lies in the number of activities that accompany the courses including beach volleyball, soccer tournaments Brazilian cinema, Samba courses, outings to mountains such as Sugar Loaf and the Cristo Redentor, among other activities. Therefore, this school is a perfect place to learn and have fun. Furthermore, the fees paid by the students fund-raises an orphanage for adolescents and children from underserved populations in Xerem, Rio de Janeiro. Therefore the income generated in the school goes to the community. When I left this school, I can now say that I have achieved the Advanced Proficiency Level in Brazilian Portuguese and this is thanks to the tools provided by my teacher Marcos, the most experienced teacher at the school. He now only was a great teacher, but also became a great friend. My experience in Casa do Caminho was unforgettable and I encourage anyone to seriously consider this school in their travels to pick-up and/or polish their Portuguese.

I found Casa do Caminho when I compared the prices of several schools on the Internet and they had the best offer. After I have gone through all levels from "beginner" to "advanced" I can recommend them: This is really a great school with excellent teachers, who tell you a lot not only about Portuguese language but also about Brazilian society.

Paths language center, is a great way to learn Portuguese!

I loved the 5 weeks I spent learning Portuguese at Caminhos! All of the teachers and the staff were fantastic. The group classes (4hr/day) offered the perfect mix of structure and fun in order to improve your Portuguese quickly. The school uses their own books and materials (included with the group classes) but the teachers still tailor the classes to the needs and interests of their groups.

With the ongoing pandemic, Caminhos is taking steps to ensure the safety of students and teachers. Everyone wears masks at all times and group classes have fewer students (anywhere from 2-6) than usual.

There are still plenty of outdoor afterschool activities - they were fun and a great way to get to know Rio.

I hope to return to Caminhos soon!

Great place to practice Portuguese and have unforgettable experiences. The Course has a weekly schedule with several legal and interactive activities. Beach Volleyball, Brazilian Cinema and Caipi Sexta in addition to events in different places for students to socialize! Super recommend!

The Casa do Caminhos language school is very good.

My teacher was very professional and qualified. I learned Portuguese fast. There are special classes for Latinos. I also really liked the activities like Beach Volley, walks and walks in the city, free for students. At night there are movies and Samba classes.

Interesting option: the Homestay Program. The school operates a network of families offering a room to rent for a few days to a few months. I lived three weeks with awesome Brazilian flatmates in Copacabana, during the World Cup!

This is my second time back at Casa do Caminho, and it's been nothing but amazing. I chose to take a private class this time and my teacher Gianne has tailored the class to my needs with the language, I feel like I've greatly improved over the last 4 months. In addition it's an amazing environment to be here with people from all over the world, and they also have great extra-curricular activities where you get to learn more about the culture and the city. Very much recommended, the best school here in Rio because it's much more of a community then just a class.

The school is very awesome ! good teachers / good atmosphere ! the location is great (Ipanema - very close to the beach). I studied there last year for 2 months, and I'm just finishing another month of study right now. They also offer activities, which is very cool to meet new people.

I spent 5 months to learn Portuguese here, my teachers were Karen,Antonio,Marcos and Sonia. All of them are very good. They have different teaching styles, but the same thing is that they made everyone talked a lot in portuguese. Karen made us practice the common dialogues a lot, which is good; Marcos has a organized system to explain grammars very clearly; Antonio had more conversations in class, and he likes to write down what he said for us to understand more; Sonia taught without any English,and have many homework, which made me study more. Not only learning how to speak Portuguese, we also learned the culture, music, and some other interesting thing about Brasil.
I also joined their events after the class almost every week. Davi, one of the staffs in the school, took us to many places in Rio. And We played beach volleyball, football, Capoeira, those are very great experience for me, thank you Davi! I will miss you guys.

Organization of the courses is a little chaotic ;) and the program is very focused on grammar it could be a little more conversations but they just force you to buy conversation course.

Caminhos teaches you the Portuguese you want to learn. With incredible teachers, attentive staff, flexible programs & a warm atmosphere, this language school will make your experience unforgettable. I had a wonderful experience. My son and grandchild moved to Brazil and I wanted to learn portuguese. I ended up doing a course at the Casa do Caminho Language Centre. What a wonderful school. Friendly people and what I enjoyed most was the free beach volley after classes. And my money was also well spend. Besides the high quality classes do the profits go to unprivileged kids. They have great projects for kids. The concept is just right.

Excellent. I've been in Caminhos for six weeks. A school with great professionals and high values. It carries out social programs with children from the Vidigal favela. It is in Ipanema, near the beach and many bars and restaurants. Magnificent atmosphere, both at school and in the neighborhood. Caminhos offers many activities in the afternoon: visits to museums, hiking, volleyball, sports. Thank you very much, Davi, for creating that good atmosphere among all. A school where in addition to learning Portuguese thanks to the methodology of the teachers that make it very enjoyable and easy to understand, you meet people from all over the world and have many fun and interesting extra school activities: samba, volleyball, excursions to get to know Rio in a different way .... 100% recommended. If you want to learn Portuguese in a short time and effectively and dynamically, do not hesitate! I was looking at many schools and I am very happy to have stayed with this one.

The school: The school encourages learning the language very fast by pushing students to speak as much as possible & constantly evaluating whether people are in the right level class, etc. Overall it was a fantastic method & I was able to learn conversational Portuguese in around 3 months! Also there are many free & fun activities which are an excellent way to integrate in the community (beach volleyball, volunteering, city tours, movie nights, etc)
The people: The people who work in the school are awesome, very friendly and helpful. The professors are excellent.
The location: Centrally located in Ipanema & near to Lagoa, near the beach and in the most touristic part of Rio.

I have been studying at Casa do Caminho for a couple of months and have had an excellent experience. Every teacher comes to the class with great energy and enthusiam, as well as being very patient! The guys in reception are extremely helpful and you will not find a better school in Rio to learn and enjoy portuguese. I can not recomend Casa Do Caminho more highly enough.

Located in one of the most charming and visited neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro, Caminhos Language is undoubtedly one of the best Portuguese courses. I say this because thanks to this course I made great friendships that I will take into my life and I say that they all learned Portuguese well. In addition, the course promotes various activities to make the student feel like a real Carioca!

I did group lessons and private at Casa do Caminho and really loved my experience at school. I learned a lot more than I expected and all the teachers I had were very nice !! Thank you so much for sharing time !!

What do I like about Casa do Caminho? First and foremost, the people! Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere. One gets used to walking into Casa do Caminho every day. It feels comfortable and almost homey. Native Speakers. One of my prerequisites for choosing a language school was that it have native speaker teachers. An added plus is that most of the teachers are "real" teachers and are good at what they do! Location. The location of Casa do Caminho is perfect. Easy to get to by bus, metro, bicycle, or walking. It is just a few minutes away from the beach so "reviewing verbs" while sitting on the sand before or after class is a definite option. All in all, I am quite sure that at least in Ipanema, there is no better option than Casa do Camino. I have enjoyed it, I have learned and I highly recommend it!

I really enjoyed my Portuguese classes at Casa do Caminho. I took the B level intermediate course and I learned a lot of material. I really like the fact that all of the teachers there are native Brazilian Portuguese speakers who also are trained in the teaching profession. I will caution that the course is very intensive so if you are a slow learner, have great difficulty with languages or dont like to study or practice the language then this or any other intensive program may be over your head. Casa do Caminho, is a Language Center, which is different from studying at a university, so there are no extra course fees, and The staff is really flexible with payments arrangements and special situations and the atmosphere is less intimidating making you feel more comfortable to practice the language. Also the orphanage that the school supports is really cool, it is about 2 hours outside Rio in a small town and the kids are so sweet and helpful, It was very nice to see that the money was actually going to a good cause. I would defiantly recommend Casa do Caminho to anyone looking to get a good working knowledge of the Portuguese language, in a short amount of time. However if you are looking to become fluent in any language it takes work and practice and unless you are a genius dont expect to be fluent in any language in 4 weeks... but Casa do Caminho is a good place to start.

I was used to study English at this School and it was very improving to me, as I used to have lessons with English native teachers.

More than two months before going to Brazil I contacted them to ask if it was possible that in two months I would reach B2 and they said yes because they had a course for Spanish speakers, upon arrival, the first week I did not enter the course of Spanish speakers, I had to do a week of level A, and then the second week to repeat everything I saw in the first, I do not understand why I had to see that week of A if there were people who arrived without notions of Portuguese and began in the Spanish-speaking course, that's why I lost a week that in the end I missed to finish level B2, on the other hand, the Spanish-language course teacher is not the best, the other teachers are very good and it is notorious that they like their work, What did not happen with the girl who took the Spanish-speaking course, in general the school is good, they have many activities in the afternoon every day of the week so that people know Rio and continue to practice Portuguese.

This place is amazing. They truly go above and beyond what I expected from a language school. Not only are the portuguese classes well-executed (shout-out to Antonio), but in addition, the school offers a chance to be part of a community in Rio. Every day there is an afternoon activity which ranges from hiking to dancing to happy hours. The first-day orientation goes over how to get a CPF and sim card. I was impressed. Bel is extremely communicative and patient - she really made me feel welcome from my first email exchange with her. Also, shout-out to Josie, my private instructor!
