When one is finished scouring the large, antique malls in the center of town, Weathered Elegance provides a nice change-of-pace. The store owner is friendly and approachable and greets customers warmly, rather than with the lidless Eye of Sauron employed by other store owners constantly fretting about teenage antique thieves. While friendly, she also has a nice eye for arranging the store. She manages to combine complementary items, suggest design ideas, and allow for easy movement with the array of displays.

Prices are good. While some items are at retail levels, that merchandise is of good quality, with few, if any, broken or yard-sale items. Other items -- perhaps a majority -- are priced lower than one might expect elsewhere. This makes prices fair overall, if not "I'm-going-to-sell-this-on-eBay" low. Oh, and it should be noted that a portion of her proceeds go towards the Save the Tails Rescue group, which is a nice consideration.

I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for interesting decorative items -- a shopper's store, instead of a thrift or bargain hunter's store. Parking is great as the store is nearly adjacent to the local garage, and being just off of King St. means one can get there with little extra effort.
