Attentive staff
.
They wait till the end of the semester to give u a refund check and they have bad attitudes
Books for 2 classes cost me $500 (They basically want latest edition books with a subscription, so you can't sell them afterwards) and I was told parking was free although no one said it was permit for the Downtown campus. When I went on the Western Campus to register, no one bothered to tell me that I'd need a student ID to act as my permit (This is assuming that the parking in the Downtown is not indeed paid - giving them the benefit of the doubt) their very old website fails to inform the prospective student of exactly all the steps they should take when registering. Serious need of an overhaul for that website plus there needs to be the addition of either Blackboard or Canvas since this is 2017 and I should be able to message my professors and other students if I need. I'm going to cancel all my classes this term and prohibit going to the Downtown campus (For those classes, I will be going to Henry Ford). All in all this school is sending off red flags but I will try.
Good professors at that college, but the administration office employees are stupid.
More of a Frump University,,,,Very Unprofessional from the Administrators to the Instructor. The instructor never responds to emails for an online class during the semester, does not consider the passing grade on tests, quizes, homeworks, but puts emphasis on the discussion questions where contradicts himself on his own due dates and States that it is late when submission date clearly states the day before due date, and also weighs in more than test, quizes, and homeworks grades you majorly on if you went under other online students and wrote discussion on how they solved their math problems and footnotes.....YES !!!!! This is a MATH CLASS NOT A THESIS !!!!!! Proof was submitted to a grade appeal with all passing tests, quizes, homeworks and discussions with an above C grade,. However instructor choses to fail PURPOSELY WITHOUT ANY GROUNDS !!!!! INSTRUCTORS NAME IS Oliver Nwankwo for MAT 156....Read the REVIEWS FOR RATE YOUR PROFESSOR .... SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY,,, TAKE CLASSES ELSEWHERE BUT IN WAYNE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE !!!!!! ADMINISTRATORS are also unprofessional in the Appeal process !!!!! Don't waste your time and money at this facility !!!!!!
Attended WCCC years ago while in High School at the same time,,, had relative teach there many many years ago, and I am a University Gratuate from the State in International Marketing,,,, If I can grade with NO ( 0 ) Stars, I WOULD.....
Wayne county community college is indicative of Detroit s new renaissance! W CCC Is The Place 2 B!
This is the worst school you could possibly go to for a college education. There are always issues with financial aid and the staff aren't very professional. It's a lot like a high school environment. The financial aid office seems pointless almost because the staff cannot really help you with anything unless it's basic and on the computer. Also, having a late registration date doesn't seem ideal, considering if someone starts class AFTER the first day, it affects the attendance which affects your financial aid. Its already bad enough that the teachers don't seem to care enough to put in their attendance on time. I am only here because I was too late getting into another school. I am transferring immediately after fall semester is over. If anyone can avoid it, please do not attend this school. Especially the downtown campus or the northwestern campus.
Onec i got my around the building i made it fine even got a subway sandwich there i know all will like it .
Student services is horrible and have they attitudes out of this world. No help what so ever. You can expect to wait for hours just to see someone
Even though the class was informative, I was upset that I was mistakenly placed in a class waaaaay across town. I took a bus to get there!!!
I have not gone to this school in about 4 years. I am so upset with this school I decided to write a review about my current complaint and some other problems I had with the school that I can remember off the top of my head.
The school is not worth the money paid for. All of the teaching staff I came across was very nice and respectful, but the office staff, financial aid, admission, cashier office is insanely unorganized and disrespectful.
Recently I applied to go back to college and requested my official transcripts. I was denied because there is a hold on my account. I called to speak with student relations, they said I owe the school money and to talk with account receivable. Well then they want you to leave your number and they will call you back within 48 hours. Well I have done that 3 times since last August. Nobody has called me back. I now live on the other side of the state or I would just go down there.
Call #4 in March I demanded to speak to someone. The women then told me there is a form online I need to fill out stating my claim and fax it to the claims department. 2 weeks later I get no response and just a copy of my transcripts in the mail (which I can not use as an official transcript for college transfer). I log into my account, there is still a hold. I do not owe the school money. they just cant get it together I guess. Can not send my transcripts out. I am at the point where I have retaken almost all the courses at another community college and do not even want to deal with them anymore.
I took 2 Chemistry courses at this school, and after paying big money for the lab manuals and lab fees. I attended class and was unable to do a handful of the labs due to expired chemicals, or chemicals not being in the lab. I filed a complaint with the school demanding my lab fees back and I was denied.
While I attended the school there was no tutoring centers available, other community colleges and colleges have tutoring centers where other students and teachers are able to help you. At WCCCD you have to schedule appointments.
And good luck with the admission and financial aid process. If you have not gone to college before good luck. They do not have an organized system to tell you what to do. You will end up spending 1-3 days running around the buildings trying to make sure everything is done right. Every person sends you to another person. Nobody really knows what they are doing. It is a complete nightmare.
One semester my financial aid refund check was mailed to my address, and it was lost in the mail, and then stolen. I contacted the school multiple times regarding the situation they tried to say I cashed the check and I was lying. 2 Months later I then went down to the school and demanded to know where my money was. After making a complete scene, they asked me to get documents notarized stating that I did not cash the check, and I did not allow someone else to cash the check. A month later I was told my check was cashed at a liquor store in Detroit and that they found the person and I would be getting another check that I would have to pick up... A year and a half later they finally contact me about my check. I went down to the school to get it. They asked for my ID before issuing it and made me sign forms confirming it was me. But because the address was different they would not give me my check. Well duh its been almost 2 years. I then went down to the school presidents office and demanded to be seen or I was not leaving. The president then ok'd me getting my check.
Debra Sue Dimitrish is an adjunct professor and a very scary, nuts stalker and harasser! She an antiques and we had to kick her out of our shop years ago! She will not leave our business alone or me personally! I m going to have to get a pro against her this week and she gets to work for public money! Are any ethic codes at Wayne county
She is very scary
There Admin staff has no knowledge , I went in downriver campus for admission few years ago,my green card was expired so showed them that immigration gave me a stamp on passport that shows that I am legal resident here , the lady had used so harsh words and told me that with this I cannot get admission anywhere in America . I was so lost never tried to get admission in any college whole my career is ruined because of that lady, now I found out that with that stamp i have same rights as every Green card holder has . I wish i could file a case against the College for ruining my career.
Wayne County Community College District has been there for me during my undergraduate years. WCCCD has served my daughter well with classes that she needed, they are affordably priced and now as a senior I am taking classes for free and regularly. You can't get that everywhere. Thanks WCCD for making such a difference in our community!
This college staff seamless merges corruption and incompetence. These idiots are reporting that I attended their college in war torn Detroit. I ve never applied to nor attended WCC and was a student at OU at the time I supposedly attended. Their completely unhelpful staff will do nothing to correct Student Clearinghouse records. This schools should be shut down.
Perfect college to go to! Excellent & caring staff!
very clean but hard to find the free parking need better directions
Chelsea and Rachael they both are best, they were helping me a lot I really appropriate. Thank you very much
Came to Michigan was looking for a affordable college. This is one of the best schools in the area. All classes transfer to big colleges. If you want to save 10000+ on you education this is going to be your best option. Especially if you live in Wayne county. In district tuition very nice.
They gave me the run around to register for classes, so much so that I was taking days off work to register and still never attended! And the staff is very rude. I told them I just needed classes to transfer to my home college and they told me that my university should have given me an "Exit" letter??? I called them and they told me that my degree and transcript should be enough; which wcccd already had! My school told me that no such thing exist.
I spent 8 days trying to register for online classes at wcccd and never started school there.
They are very unorganized! They kept insisting I needed to apply for financial aid even though I told them I was going to use my student loans. But they still wasted my time insisting I had to bring back my previous years taxes. Then when they saw thrm they tell me that I should pay cash or apply for loans!!! I explained to them that I had already did this through fasfa and they tell me....they don't use them I have to apply in their computer lab on webgate! They even made me take an interest exam and I have a degree! I guess at every question on the exam not even reading the questions and got a 97%
I really need to get back into school because miss it and I want to finish up for my BS degree but not at the expense of pulling out my hair before classes even start!
"The Waiting Process " needs to be excluded if disbursements are said to be a certain day. Not a "we just began the transfer of information process after the fact, when students couldnt be told that disbursements has been made from the loan servicer, weeks before without having information without information being sent by a push of a button. I had one of your representative answer my question with my own question today. I asked if there's any way possible to expedite the transfer of my information could be sent to my refund selection! She said that i needed to talk to my refund selection, when I've already talked to them and the loan servicer beforehand. The loan servicer said what was obvious, according to my profiles with wcccd and them. I called my refund selection to ask them if they could expedite the process of my refund review as for their party. My refund selection was willing and told me the first step for them to do is to see if i had an account which they've found, then it was to see if my information was in their system meaning my school's (wcccd) financial aid department sent it over. Nope! I explained all of these prior conversations to your representative and first she assumed that the financial aid department had no work left do. After all repeating myself she asked for my A number to see my status. Thats when she tells me I'm in a waiting process, my information still needs to be sent to my refund selection, and to give some time.... Why not that in the first place? Why a disbursements day? Why a set disbursements delay day. Why not at least send my information then, or when i called? Why are we still waiting for information that was supposed to be sent weeks ago?
I m happy I have the opportunity to be apart of this college and looking forward to the future.
Do not go to this school. It will be a huge mistake. This has got to be the worse community college in Michigan. Administration is unqualified and extremely unprofessional. This school needs to be closed.
Excellent persons can be found here... More good things ahead for Wayne County.
Why does this place stink? Is it the people or the building?
I am very pleased with the Professor's at WCCCD for the Compassion to Teach me and help me to Succeed in the field of my Degree in Multimedia digital production.
Worst school
Imagine taking almost 3months to get Consortium agreement done I almost contact most of wcccd staf and everyone act it s not their job even when I email financial aid office they never replay back for my emails while the reply back for others
I register here for a GED Test And I go to my classes every week The Building is very huge
Great place for a quality education. New facilities, great professors and staff.
classes aren't bad but when it comes to the financial aid department they take forever just to process your application most schools usually have financial aid processed within 2-3 weeks I don't see why this school seems to take forever. Then you can barely get in touch with the financial aid department because they don't answer the phones big problem. school can get 3 stars financial aid zero
I'm beyond upset with this institution, very unprofessional they don't know what they're doing i was giving wrong information by two different advisor, have me running around for nothing! I feel soooooo powerless, when I went to talk to Mr. Woodfulk I thought that he was going to care about my situation but guess what he didn't ...
he doesn't care about the student getting education they care about the money, even if they don't show up to class, they can have the classroom empty as long as they getting pay, they dont care!... they don't care that I'm really trying and I want to be there to actually learn something they won't let me be in the class .! I was told by 2 different advisor that if I got a registration forms and get it signed by the professor I was going to be able to be in the class so I did it.. i went to class I bought my book, then they told me that I couldn't do that, now what? If I can't relie on they're own workers (advisors)who am I supposed to.! They don't know what they doing so unprofessional rude helpless.!! They need some serious training.!!! Now I'm not in the class and I can't return the book.!! Cause that's how ridiculous they are .!!
The only reason I didn't rate them 4 stars is particularly because their staff almost every campus, ESPECIALLY the downtown campus, are the most disrespectful, distasteful, uncooperative, depressed people I've ever had to work with when I had to resolve my issues. They get annoyed, not worried, when you keep coming back for an issue they could never resolve. It's really that bad I am not exaggerating. There's maybe 3 in that whole staff that are beautiful people, the rest just work there for a paycheck without considering the fact that they're working with STUDENTS not factory workers. The school could be a much better school to the public eye if they would have a more approachable staff, Yes, it really makes that much of a difference just like customer service does.
Great place to complete your AA or AS degree. Staff helpful if you could ask. Just leave your feelings at the front door you will do well.
Depending on the campus, and professor, it can be a fun place to learn.
I ran into ample problems with financial aid. At first I thought the staff was excellent. However, there are some good instructors, like the speech instructor in NE campus. Other good things, they have a long Xmas/spring bring. I like going to in the inner city, because at the other school, they could care less, that I was driving out of my way to be with them.
A year later, I dropped my review from 4 to 3 star, because I ran into too many rude people. Most rude staff who works directly with the student is rude to me. Staff members think they are too educated to be nice. I don't like someone telling me "...I ain't get nothing..." because I refuse to upload a state ID (A. Green) or when I called records, the lady (name starts with the letter D) is talking to someone else while taking to me. Or when I call the president office, who don't like to hear complaints, irregardless an A GPA. I support this community because my children work hard for those grades and completed both the programs. However, they even messed that up. When they put in they graduate applications, to walk together.
Furthermore, expanding the building in not going to help if the inside is being depleted.
This is the worst community college on the planet!! The staff in administration and financial aid are lazy, rude, and un-helpful ! I went through a 3 -4 week battle with financial aid. The verification process is just ridiculous. Book prices and options are just expensive and inconvenient. You rarely get anyone on the phone when you call up there ! Don't waste your time or your money. I would not even give this unprofessional place 1 star. There were so many errors on their end that I had to constantly try to get fixed.
The reason why I am giving WC3 such a terrible score is solely based on the Admissions/Financial Aid department. I have taken classes twice (2 different summer semesters) and both teachers I had were fine.
Now to the important stuff;
The administration at WC3 Downtown is completely unorganized, disrespectful, and lack a lot of class. The way they talk to you (especially considering that they NEED your money) is ridiculous. I am a guest student that goes to Wayne State and they are always confused on how to handle it. I wanted to take a Accounting class online and they completely messed it up and I wasn't able to register for the class because the deadline had passed. I sent my transcript way in advance to but they didn't "go over it" until I was already 3 weeks in another class (that the transcript wasn't needed) for. I think her name is Rae but she is the one that needs to get fired. Terrible attitude, doesn't like helping people and is only there for the maybe $9/hour she gets.
I am happy to say that I won't have to ever take another class at WC3 because I'm about to graduate but I would probably go to OCC/Macomb if I had to anyways.
Worst school EVER, DONT DO IT!!!!! YOUVE BEEN WARNED!! No one knows ANYTHING, there are no deans to talk to if you have a problem, financial aid is ALWAYS unavailable, and they dont give you good guidance as far as academic council. It took 8 weeks to process my financial aid, after classes started! No books due to this, and no one would help me. Ive never felt so alone academically. This was my first and last semester at WC3. Ive transferred to Henry Ford and they've ALREADY completed EVERYTHING. There are deans for EACH college program, classes have ALREADY been paid for with financial aid, and my counselor was most helpful. They even plan your program for you, with updates along the way so you always know you're on track. Im so disappointed in WC3. If your college career is important to you, dont play around with WC3.
However, if you do decide to attend, Ms. Lynch in the admissions office Downriver campus is like gold in a world of uncertainty. If you need help shes the only person at ANY location who knows ANYTHING.
Bad connection everyone says the issue is not from them
I have been two weeks since i sent a request to correct my transcript and no one helped and they still say we need more time that's really loose of control from the department
Offers good continuing education classes...Seniors 60 an over attend free...
I'm enjoying my experience at WCCCC! I did have a few minor issues with my financial aid, but the staff helped me out a great deal! The professors I've had at the Downtown and Northwest campus were great! Been making straight A's since I've started!
Everything that I have learned was only the
good memories.
This school is terrible all the staff members have attitudes and further more I was stuck with a professor who talked about the times he was in Africa and barely taught the class his name is Henry Oniugbo please avoid this man if your paying out of pocket if you don't care to here his stories he will fail you he talks more about his life experience than class almost all his students fail the test he gives however he does pick and choose the people he wants to pass if you listen to his stories he will pass if you don't he will not pass you...if you really care about your education and are trying to learn something avoid his class also you will buy a $200 book that he feels he shouldn't she because he says the book is in his head please do not waste your time or money on this mans class
I am attending lifelong learning taking a sewing class. I have a work meeting to attend and asked if I could join another class during the week. I was told by the instructor that the college does not allow that. Who has ever heard of such a thing? Don't waste your time. Class is supposed to assist the student.
The most unprofessional environment I have ever encountered.
Wasted an hour to take a math assessment test i didn t need. Then had to get put in the system because they didn t do it. Waited almost 6 hours to not get registered.
Never went there. I am a student at WCC that is obtaining an AAS in Surgical Technology. However, I was thinking about going into their vet tech program once I finished my program at WCC. They said that I had to take 12 credits with them before my credits officially transfer? Really? Classes are broken up into two separate semesters as opposed to one semester like all college courses should be , just so they can get more money from you. Every staff member I talked to was just rude and agoof! Like I said, I never went there and I could tell that it is a waste of time and money. I'm staying at my current college. I might look into another vet tech program at another neighboring college. What a shame!
Worse community college in the world, the staff are rude and lazy, do not want to help the student. They act as if we are bothering them when their job is to help us. Never call or you will be rerouted to every department but the right one. Spend the extra the money and go to an out of county college.
The continuing education classes are fun. Seniors living in Wayne county attend for free. It's not perfect, but its a great educational opportunity for those looking for a better future.
Let me just start off by saying how unprofessional the staff is at the Northwestern site. This school is run like a money mill, they try to push as many students through without any real advisement, and a lot of times if you are an inexperienced person you'll end up losing money because the staff is very unclear as to what steps you need to take to enroll, and to get your financial aid. If you must attend this school do your research before hand as to enrollment procedures so that you don't get screwed. Secondly the fact that they don't have books available for your particular classes is ridiculous. I should not have to call all five branches to find my books. If you have more reliable transportation to go to a more professional, school with staff who are actually wanting to help you succeed than definitely take that longer trip.
If you want to fight for your education and beg for help from the staff who look at you like you shouldn't be bothering them, this is the place.
What a horrible experience with this college, I ve called many times for one simple question and they didn t bother calling me back or even answering. I had to take off from work to go to the college for something that was done in 1,2,3. This is a college a place to be professional ya lacking on that. Step up your game ma guy
I have attended this community college for three semesters now. Every semester there is another issue. The chaos is normal to me now. (which is very sad) The administrative staff is very unorganized and rude. When I first registered I lived an hour away so I decided to come 2 months in advance to take care of everything with all of my required documents. With my efforts it still took until after the semester began to fully register. Some classes are only offered once every year. You cant speak in person with the financial aid office. They offer self help financial aid stations lol(so stay home if you need financial aid help) Considering people who are borrowing money they should have someone to speak with about financial aid. Student loans are a little confusing and daunting at times. I have never been so disappointed in an institution. The only reason I decided to stay was the cost. If your like me and need cheap classes before transferring to a four year institution speak with Mrs. Milhench she is the only advisor who is knowledgeable about courses and transferring. The Library staff is also amazing! But all other administrative needs to get it together. This school needs a total re-haul! New staff, processes and new policies. Not to mention they reduced library hours so they aren't open on Friday and close around 4 other days. What school that really cares about students education does that? There are also no tutors available. Not because there aren't capable students to tutor but because the administration does not care about WC3D students.
I graduated a year ago and I still haven't received my degree. What a nightmare! Very unorganized =(
The teachers care. Plain and simple. It s not just about money. Some people working in the administration could be better. However, when it comes to learning WCCCD is a great school. I hate that I have to graduate. :(
What about their music industry. Not just speaking of this school but the university schools down there. I am a bass player that live in st louis looking to move somewhere else. Please give some feedback.
Great place to start out pursuing your career goals. Nice and knowledgeable staff.
Great school, I start fall semester August. I'm so excited.
It has always been my favorite place. I had classes their. Their book store has always been the best. I use to find all kinds of things. Things I couldn't find any where else.
A great institution for higher education and certificate training programs. They've also just opened a new entrepreneurship center @ the downtown campus!
so rude! Not much help hate that I have to go back here!
Everything in Student Store is overly expensive. And the whole building smells like a men's locker room.
Glad this place is in a central location accessible to everyone -- even though its not the best facility you can still get transfer credits and become eligible for scholarships BUT you HAVE to apply yourself--it is what you make it!!
