This was one of the BEST thing we saw in Thailand!...

This was one of the BEST thing we saw in Thailand! I loved it and would go again. I saw NO mistreating of any animal. Of course it is a business and they make money, so what? It was the only place on the earth that I know of that you could spend one on one time with these fantastic animals.

Actually, it is a good place to travel.

Actually, it is a good place to travel.
We can ride the car into And can feed the children in the car Children consist of
Wild boar (they say that it is an original animal So cute, run round)
Deer have many gangs (they say donated people, shy, do not approach people without food)
Cow (from the redemption of life)
Goat (This one is not afraid of people)
The horse (here is not afraid of people)
Domestic pig (very big)

Near the entrance, there will be animal feeders.
If you come, bring a lot of food.

P.S. Fresh vegetables are also eaten. But those plants Like they're sweet The wild boars really like it.

P.S. There is a pavilion in the end with beautiful monks to pay respect and a merit box.

Cruel place run by sick people. A true modern day animal crime. These animals are drugged and abused just to turn a profit. These sick people think they are better then tigers and deserve money more then these animals deserve a good life. If you pay this place you are almost as guilty as they are. Please do your research before visiting this slice of hell on earth. I love tigers and this place has anything but Tigers best interest at heart. They need to be SHUT DOWN. VERY CORRUPT.

After stepping off the local bus at the giant tiger marking the way towards the tiger temple we started the long walk towards the temple. Along the way an elderly man drove by and told us to hop in the back of his truck to drop us off at the temple. Upon arriving at the temple they told that there weren t any tigers any more and that they were sold two years ago. But the men who were there operating and maintaining the area offered to give us a tour to view the animals they still had. We jumped in the back of the truck with a basket full of corn and made our way along a bumpy dirt road. Along the way we fed cows and deer by hand and even stopped to make pictures while sitting next to one of the deer. We then drove to the area where they still had their last lion and we were able to feed him ourselves. Afterwards the man who gave us the tour drove us back to the main road where we could catch the bus back to kanchanaburi. It was an awesome experience!

Totally free ... long time no tigers on site. You can save yourself the way. It is not right that tigers are still shown on the net. Except pigs; Cows and a (deer) nothing but a ruin of a very interesting time left.

A place where you can see huge tigers up close. Animals kept on chains for safety reasons. Entering the area with tigers raises many fears, and the tigers themselves did not look particularly happy with the visits of tourists.
Some of them were really powerful and they were awesome.
A place that arouses ambivalent feelings like many others in which animals are trapped.

If we were the tigers we wouldn't like it , being drugged up, being abusive, being taking away from their familys and being raised in a cage and being drugged ever second. Just sad to my heart and to my soul. As a human bean i want my kids to see this animal's out in the wild not held in cages all their lives . #SAVE THE TIGERS

Would like government agencies or philanthropists to help animals such as food, vegetable debris in the temple, there are 10 monks / workers, about 6 people. Now the temple has no tigers, but there are also lions / horses / boars / deer / wild fowl / cows Now, the temple has no income, so I want to recommend it.

This is the widely controversial Thai Tiger Temple. At most, there are more than 100 tigers in the temple at the same time, as well as a large number of other wild animals. Since the local government discovered that monks in the temple used tigers for profit and forcibly banned them, the temple has now been abandoned, but a large number of wild animals around the temple still live in this place. You can see groups of wild boars, deer, peacocks and other animals. There is still a lonely male lion in the abandoned beast area.

If you love tigers, please DO NOT VISIT this place. They have been actively engaging in the illegal trade in tiger parts for years. They have no interest in conservation, but instead falsify documents to sell their tigers and their parts for money on the asian black market. Every gullible tourist dollar that goes to this place is a dollar that DIRECTLY SUPPORTS THE ILLEGAL ANIMAL TRADE. The tigers you pet today are going to be killed, dismembered, and sold for profit tomorrow.

We are in the area and read up about the tiger 'temple' . Glad to hear from locals here it is now closed no tigers are here. I wonder where they've been rehomed.? I hope somewhere safe x

the most ugly and depressing experience I have ever had !!! The tigers are all drugged and tied with a very short strap, and it shows that they are suffering. They do everything to convince you instead that they are ferocious animals, they make you take away anything that could disturb them, scarves like bracelets scarves, pretend to make them touch you, they accompany you (the rangers) and if you want to take pictures they ask you for the camera but they can only do them, we have only seen 1 monk in the whole structure, and in that case it was only the habit to make the monk !!! Avoid encouraging to enter that lagher, I had already read some negative reviews, but I was in a group and I was not able to convince them to avoid that place that has no temple really nothing !!!

Tigers are sedated with tranquilizers. We were there when a Jungtiger (8Mt) bit the guard during the game. In short, the baby was given a baby pint (bottle with milk), whereupon he became hand-tame. Have read many reports about the temper. Unfortunately, most of these allegations are true.
Being so close to the tiger would certainly be beautiful under natural circumstances. But with "course" it does not have much to do here. Pity I am there with my daughter and thus have supported the animal cruelty!

Strictly avoid this place. This is not a temple!! Animal cruelty, Illegal tiger skin trading,Illegal tiger bones trading , etc happening here.. Recently 40 Cubs are found dead. If we pay for this tourist attractions then we are indirectly supporting this activity. So don't visit this place. By the way this is not a temple!!

Disgusting place!!! How can you treat beautiful tigers the way they do... Visiting this attraction funds them looking after the Tigers but not in the right way, they deserve better then this horrible treatment!!!!

This place is sick and should be closed down. No living thing deserves to undergo such abuse. These are wild animals and deserve to be free. Please do not go to this place and don't give them money. Please go to the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand website and donate to them instead, so animals like this that are mistreated can be saved.

This place fell into disrepair after tigers were taken out of here. There are some other animals - wild boars, roe deer, buffalo, horses and even a lion. But it all looks groomed and abandoned.
Monks as they can try to care for the animals and the temple.
We do not know the true reasons for what happened. But apparently when there were tigers, it was great here. The territory is huge, many buildings. As for the sticks in the hands of those who worked with predators, then this is absolutely normal. See how world famous trainers work!
Sorry, so sorry. Perhaps someday life will boil again in this place ...

One man's hero is another man's terrorist. In a world full of politics, greed, and money, who knows what really happened? I visited here and imho, the monks are incredible, docile, and peaceful. They were trying to save the tigers from poachers who would sell their teeth and other parts believed by ancients and elders to be of great significance...... To me it seems obvious some government officials want the money for parts of tigers, so they accuse the monks and it's back to business as usual. It's pretty simple actually, in general Monks are not bad people... it is hard to imagine them committing crimes as stated by the Government, although the truth may lie somewhere in the middle.

The reviews are mixed, but I was very excited and interested in this. When I did, I am glad I did. Not getting into the semantics of cruel or not, the experience was interesting. My love for tigers allowed me to touch, walk, feed and observe very closely the creature itself. The day was humid (as expected in Bangkok) but the people at the temple made our group comfortable (as expected). 100s of pics and memories I won't forget.

Everyone here stating these tigers where drugged c...

Everyone here stating these tigers where drugged clearly has never visited. Also while they were raided, 0 of the 22 charges have resulted in convictions. Having been an individual who actually went to see for myself back in 2013, I can tell you a few things.
1. I did all the activities and not once did any of these tigers appear to be drugged. If they were, the drugs were not effective at all because once they were very coordinated and active most of the time. One activity involved going into an outdoor enclosure and playing with the "teenage" tigers (about the size of a great Dane for reference) and you would get a long bamboo stick with a toy attached to the end. I can assure you a group of tigers running full speed the jumping 6 ft in the air for about 20 minutes straight is not drugged.
2. When we were there there were at least a dozen volunteers who were there from Europe and other western countries. Hard to imagine they were running a criminal organization but hiding it from the numerous volunteers (including those with vet experience) coming and going for periods of time without them catching on.
3. When I was there speaking with the volunteers they were mentioning things about how the government did not like that they were not making much money of the. While I admittedly do not have specifics I'm assuming that is due to some sort of religious exemption. I digress knowing I dont have specifics to refer to here but point it out to acknowledge potential motivation for a Gov't that has not been known to be corruption free. Considering there were 0 convictions on 22 charges and they are allowing them to build a new "zoo" it seems entirly possible the raid could have been some sort of power play.
Now with all that being said, if this place was truly engaging in criminal activity, I'd support the prosecution of them, but having actually been there and seen the where and how those tigers live, I'd say it was easily a better environment then any zoo I've been to in the US. I am an animal lover myself and often volunteer at local shelters and such which is why it's annoying to me to see people coming here and blanket criticizing a place they clearly have not been to when there are private entities operating in Thailand and all over the world (including inside the US) that clearly do use sedatives and abuse their animals for photo ops and dont even hide it. Those are the places that need to be demonized. Either way it's clearly too late for the tiger temple and if the new government approved location is open (assuming it might be due to recent reviews unless they are all just lying which is possible) I cant speak to the conditions there.

From TripAdvisor:

An awful experience. The tigers you see are quite obviously drugged. There are actually 147 tigers on site most of whom you don't see. The others are caged up in conditions that make a human prisons seem like a dream. Admittedly the tigers you see seem healthy generally but they are certainly being exploited for money, living very limited lives and being inhumanly treated as a result.

I've since read that most funds received by the temple seem to go into temple improvements despite the obvious need (and promises made) to improve conditions for tigers. Please don't support Tiger Temple. Cool photos just aren't worth the plight you are contributing too.

Awful, the tigers have SCARS from the people hitting them with sticks. They arent meant to be kept in these places... they barely want to play and are SUUUPER drugged up. Lots of Morphine used, baby tigers almost seem lifeless as they receive more drugs since they wont know how to act being so young. Its an awful place. Please set those poor tigers free

It was evident that the Tigers were drugged. We went to check out this place and had to leave immediately . Wild animals can not be tamed to safely interact with humans.this was so shocking and can only imagine as bad as seeing children drugged( I use the comparison as both would be unwilling and exploited innocent victims) ..how this is allowed is beyond any understanding

THIS IS NOT A SANCTUARY.

THIS IS NOT A SANCTUARY.
I have had nightmares after witnessing the horrible abuse that goes on here to raise tourist dollars. Don't go here and don't pay them a cent!! The tigers are drugged and chained to the ground where they lay in the searing heat throughout their lifetime while tourists are led around to have their pictures taken with the poor miserable tigers. I was there in March, 2016, and it definitely has not been shut down. There were a few Cubs that the tourists could pay extra to pet but as soon as they became too big to handle (which isn't very big), they too would be drugged and chained to one spot on the baked ground.

Additionally, there are several types of animals; wart hogs, deer, sheep, cows, etc, around the tiger area that are clearly intended to be the tiger's dinner. These animals had absolutely nothing to eat and were attempting to chew on anything they could find but the ground was grazed so short that there was nothing but dirt. The pigs were so hungry that they were trying to eat the plastic water bottles left behind by tourists. The other animals appeared to be actually eating the dirt. The volunteers were more concerned about the pigs making a mess then their hunger.

I feel so strongly that I have to do something to help these poor defenseless animals but I don't even know where to start. Please, please, don't patronize this horrible place and tell your friends likewise.

mmmm, as it were, it is a zoo with tigers and four animals. Worth it??? If you want to go it is fine, since this excursion is sold to you in a package, that you do not go, do not worry, you will dream it ..

I went there before, but I was lying about 10 horses, as if I were giving sleeping pills to a tiger. I was able to take a picture with about 3 tigers. When shooting with tigers at other zoos, there is no such tiger lying there.
I could enjoy the surroundings like the deer and hippopotamus at the zoo.

I am ashamed to have visited this place. You think you can trust that it will be a sanctuary for being cared for by Buddhist monks, yet man's greed only harms animals. And now they still found several dead tigers, shame on humans. Don't help fund any show involving animals!

I've heard about this temple before, but that was the first time I saw it. There were a lot of people when we arrived. There are 2 lines, one is group and the other is for singles or small group. We our turn came, it was so exciting and a little bit scary, thinking about those 'what ifs'. We really had a good time.

40 DEAD cubs have now been found at this place hidden in a refrigerator. To anyone saying this place is okay, it is NOT. They are now under investigation, how you end up with 40 dead cubs is beyond me but it must certainly isn't from childbirth. If I had to venture at a guess I'd say the drugs and the early docile "training"plays a role.

I hate this place, because of how the tigers are drugged just to take pics?! And how the "Monks" are making almost 6 million a year off tickets and they cant even use that money to help the poor animals?! I hope this place is shut down and the government takes the tigers and puts them in ACTUAL sanctuaries. I hate those greedy, selfish, "Monk" pigs.

Contrary to what we can hear the tigers are not drugged or abused there. I was able to approach them ready and they are well awake and aware of what is happening. My wife has also almost been "chewed" pcq she stung a tiger with her earring while lying on it ... We must go there and see how they educate since small by living in contact human. Do not always rely on what you are told in the media, they tend to extrapolate on the hidden side ...

How is this place still open?
After all the incriminating evidence that has been found here and just look at the animals!!
Yes it's so cool you get to take a picture with a tiger and blah blah ... but let's be serious - what kind of tigers are so tame they don't even roar?
No I didn't go inside and take pics with sedated tigers because I don't agree with it.

Abuse, trafficking, hiding dead tigers, poor living condition, keeps tigers drugged, steal cubs from their mothers, keeping wild-caught tigers, uncontrolled speed-breeding. All illegal, all uncharged crimes.
Do the tigers a favour, don't come here.

Although it was a unique experience for me and my family to see tigers from so close. Keepers allow you to have a picture with different tigers in enclosure....they will take your camera and click for you . When I was close to tiger for pic I realised that all the tigers were in deep sleep. They must have been injected a heavy dose of tranqliser to make them sleep so that tourists can safely have pictures with tigers. I take it as a cruelty to these poor animals who are treated like this just for the temple to make money, name and fame. This must be stopped.

The way you treat your tigers would, for a Buddhist Temple make Siddhartha Gotama turn in his grave. You disrespect The First Noble Truth, disregard The Noble 8-Fold Truth and seem to have little knowledge of the main teachings of Buddhism which are compassion and morality. You are a very underhand Temple which operates to cause suffering to endangered species. You should be thoroughly ashamed that you have lost the way of your chosen path and hopefully action will be taken against you soon to show the error of your ways.
