Great venue. Excellent sound. Friendly staff. Get the beers in at the Wetherspoons before you go in!

Big venue to see a gig and the sound quality is pretty decent. If it is a standing gig though the floor is very slanted and will begin to make your ankles burn hotter than Dante s inferno
Great gig, decent place and well organised. Parking is your challenge with this place.
Very good atmosphere. Toilets could be slightly more accessible, but as a venue goes it's very well planned out.
Great venue music wise, but very hot inside, no ventilation.
The venue is really amazing, we couldn't get standing tickets but the view from the circle was great!
The place was clean and well conditioned (although we'd still get buffs of hot steam from downstairs lol).
The only thing I'm not really happy about was how things were managed outside as we were waiting in line, they should've completely closed the road and be more vigilant about the people just joining the line in any point and especially at the end, when they split the line in 2 for the VIP entrance and a lot of people with regular tickets just jumped at the front..
Overall amazing experience, we saw twenty-one pilots and they were awesome, definitely would go back!
Great place for a gig. Saw KillSwitchEngage here, they were fantastic. Fairly intimate location for a fairly large band, atmosphere was electric. Drinks not too expensive for London and service was fairly quick. Getting into the venue was no hassle at all, with security quick but thorough. Nice.
One of the best venues for rock / metal acts in London. Love the fact that the floor is at a slight angle to make it easier to see even if there's plenty of people in front of you. Looking forward to seeing more bands play there!
Second time there and it's got that ye olde vibe going on. Friendly, efficient staff. Nice intimate venue.
Nice place to party bar available inside more than one
Upstairs is comfortable but you're not in the action
Amazing venue. Can see from any location and has an amazing atmosphere
One of my favorite music venues!! The bars could do with more staff so you not waiting for ages, and the best thing is the massive 1lt beers they served, means you don't need to keep going to the bar.
Sound amazing and vibes really great.. especially when you're short and can't see over the person in front of you, even with the sloped floor. Great night out.
Great venue in a very hip part of London. Some of the greats have played here.
Hi, I went to a concert of the XX in March what was actually very nice. But I cannot say the same about the staff working int the O2 academy. As soon as the concert was over they came to everybody to tell that we have to leave now, immediately. Never made that experience before, but e.g., were were had to get our jackets and were waiting, sitting close to the cloakroom and could see how the queue is moving. Out of physical problems, I didn't want to join the queue from the beginning, as standing was a problem for me. but the staff came several time to insist, very unfriendly, we cannot sit there anymore. Waiting in the queue, the staff (around five to seven people right next to the queue, making sure that nobody could escape, was standing next to us and screaming like, we have to move, we have to be faster. I cannot even express how how rude their mode was. But, how can we move??? It is actually a queue and we have to wait to be the next who is served. We were not drunken, or making trouble or anything. But they were treating us like cattle. I had the feeling they were out of their mind. They must have been under a high pressure to get rid of us. Finally, I man came and spoke with them to be more calm.
Never, I made this experience before. It is a concert hall and shouldn't it be a place for enjoyment? It ruined the nice evening for me. Next time, I book a flight to see a concert in London, for sure, I won't do it, if it is in the O2 academy.
Acoustics are not good, nasty echo, otherwise perfectly fine venue.
It's ok, nothing special. Bar is quieter upstairs. Not a lot else to say really.
It's good venue, little dated, in need of some air con system and a few better placed bars. Good viewings from most areas as long as you're six ft.
This place is expensive for the quality of the building... Looks old and dirty.
A fantastic venue to listen to music!, Great decor and a great atmosphere during gigs! alcohol is slightly overpriced and the touts outside are a minor niggle in an otherwise great venue place!.
Love this venue. Need more bars as the queues are horrendous. But the standing area is raised so there's no chance of missing out on your fave performances. Win!
Decent venue, slanted standing area means you can see the stage even if you're not super tall.
Great live venue. Note that they do serve half decent beer in bottles... Only thing to say about the Carlsberg on tap is that it's cold.
Great venue in Brixton. The amazing acoustics always make the venue come alive and the music that much better. Been to many gigs here and saw Dropkick Murphys here just the other night !!!
I mean, you know what to expect from an academy venue. Expensive beer (plus it's London prices) with minimal choices. Unfortunately you have to cope with it on order to see your favourite band play. That's if you aren't unlucky and go to the bar and after waiting 30 minutes you lose your space and have to stand at the back of the room under the balcony and end up seeing nothing and hearing a mess. It's a horrible sounding venue. Sound companies that put PA in here know it's a hard venue to mix in so they do what they can, but unfortunately there's no escaping the nasty reverberations. To be totally honest, I would only ever pay money to see a band here if I had no other choice and no other venue to see them at. Last band I saw here was Alexisonfire and although their engineer is very good, it did sound a mess at times. Avoid if possible.
Great venue, I watched Danzig live and the environment and experience as a whole was amazing, everyone I've spoke to about this place all rate it highly and given the bars at the back, you can easily get wasted while seeing your favorite acts.
Sickest venue. Favourite venue in the whole of the uk. Saw Yung Lean here a nights ago and was unreal. Great sound system and lights. Drinks are pricey but fair for the venue ur in
Very very hot inside, they need to work on their air conditioning.
Love this venue, hosted some great bands over the years.
Nice venue, so much bigger than expected (Not sure what I was expecting though for nearly 5000 capacity).
We were there for Anne-Marie (she was fantastic by the way) so it was busy but not crazy.
Bars aren't terribly priced (for London) though the range is pretty limited. There will be something for all though.
Friendly staff and a great atmosphere, I'll be back.
Great venue, although organisation could be better there.
amazing music venue for anyone nearby, just be wary of neighbourhood.
I will not book any more nights out at this venue. The crowd as very moody. The upstairs seating area looked like it was going to collapse. The front row seating area was taped up to prevent anyone from sitting there. The venue is in need to repairs.
No air-conditioning and a really bad ventilation, almost passed out cause of the heat
Love great acts that play here, could be less single use plastic and more engagement between a beloved venue and its customers
Superb venue I have been going to now for over 30 years. Sound is always good and as the downstairs standing is on a slope all us people not 6ft+ can still see the stage.....my fave place to stand is between the sound desk and first barrier More
Large venue. Great location, comments vary upon performances
Been going to brixton for 19 years now seen so many bands here and is one of my favourite venues as its small and love that you can go to the front to see your favourite bands.
Amazing structure as well as amazing sound quality inside, even with heavy punk rock. Some (I pressume new as they had to be told what to do all the time) need to work on their people skills. Although other staff was amazing and offered free water to over the overheating audience
Great artists but extremely hot, bars by the interval didn't had drought beer and all the rest was warm... People complain about the tube but the truth is Brixton O 2 is hotter and not in the good way.... Goo Goo Dolls were amazing
A London institution, I've seen some of the best gigs of my life here. Pros, it's huge, it's loud, it's always busy and it attracts world class bands, Cons, the queues to get in can move intolerably slowly, the bars are expensive (even by London standards) and it can get so hot inside that it borders on unpleasant.
Without a doubt, my favourite live music venue in London. Host to some great gigs. The gently sloping floor means that if you don't like being right in the thick of it or want to make a swift exit, you can stand at the back and still see the band. Good selection of drinks for normal (extortionate) venue prices. Some food available.
One of my favourite music venues in London - have a great view from any spot!
Always loved the Academy in Brixton. Great venue, well thought out entry and exit processes , lots of bars and great acts.
Big queues for sold out gigs, arrive early. It's a big ballroom style venue, drinks are cheap for London, lots of great gigs
Based on its location it's a very nice place for events. On a crowded day and on popular events the staff performed excellent. However, stage, arena and seats needs to be replaced and improved
best venue ive ever been to, staff are really cool but a little condescending. the view is great from pretty much anywhere you sit or stand and the music is clear through the speakers. parking is so easy and the local area is great.
Really great venue. They will remove drinks from you at the doors and drinks inside are expensive but had a great night
The Pepsi max tasted like licking damp wall paper. Show was good though.
Went to see Future Islands 20th November 2017. The staff at Brixton Academy are a joke obsessed with requesting to see your ticket. I showed one employee my ticket and he waved me in, a moment later and I was grabbed aggressively by another employee -
a short man with a complex, who wanted to see my ticket again. The evening was ruined by Nazi like workers and the lack of organisation causing employees to panic and become bad tempered. To think I paid good money to see Future Islands. Oh and Brixton Academy is surrounded outside by persistant beggars who won't leave you alone.
Great Venue...but all standing on ground floor level..some facilities
I minority of the security/stewards are very rude and confrontational and the main room smells like old vomit. But other than that, great place, would recommend
Nice venue and good soundsystem during the Ant's Techno Event.
Great staff and enough bathrooms for the crowd. Decent selection of drinks.
Not really a techno venue. Was a little disappointing on that level. Not the venue's fault
racist treat= avoid if you white and artist is black. black audience gave us a lot of hate on erykah badu gig;/// it was terrible, we left early.
What can I say shinedown we're brilliant wonderful people wonderful place
All the artists I've seen here have had great sets, from jessieware to most recently, Mastodon. The experience is always excellent.
Security did not search people at this venue. In the multiple times I have been to events here security never search anyone.
Do better please.
Love this venue. Good location, great staff, and good atmosphere. Sam Fender headlined - very tight and played great tracks. Really enjoyable. Support from Brooke Bentham, not really my cuppa tea. Too samey, rather beige, and their rendition of Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart was somewhat of "a travesty, of a mockery, of two shams..." to quote Woody Allen.
Fantastic venue.. seen some great bands do some awesome gigs here.. will be back for sure.
Great place for live music bit pricecy on drink tickets need to be better organised for seating st johns staff are brilliant if needed
Nice venue with superb acoustics was very surprised by how good bands sounded here. Staff are friendly and drink prices were reasonable.
Unfriendly and unorganised staff, forced to wait aside for half an hour. To be told by the bouncers about them beating people up. The bouncers also have no idea what they are doing, sending people to the back of the line, letting people cut the line, was absolute carnage. I was then not asked for permission before being "searched" which felt more of a touching up process. Not exactly what you want when going out with a group of friends for a good time! Will not be going back and be sure to be careful during the search. The customer should not be allowing such disregard of customer service!
Decent venue, lost my phone though and the lost property did nothing - useless!
