This place is huge and really benefits from the sloped floor, making it easier to see even if you are far back. Plenty of bars to pick from, and toilets although they are not as clearly sign posted. Staff did well to keep the queues moving

Nice venue and in the middle of the action, however second time here and not great accoustics both times. May be that we were at the front and it's a relatively small venue so the speakers are high. Also, can be be quite hard to drive to/park if out of London from the north. Best to use train/tube if possible (although most concerts finish around 10 30 and tube gets you back to London too late for northbound trains so watch out).

The best south london music venue. For real gig goers. Dont forget to buy your downstairs standing ticket though! Amazing venue, amazing history the place. All the best musicians have played here. When you arrive go the bar on the middle atrium to get your first drinks as it is usually the quietest.

Great venue well organised and very helpful staff. Floor in the stalls area is slightly inclined which makes standing there for a long time a little uncomfortable but worth it on this occasion.

Within Temptation were amazing and this was a great venue in which to see them

Great venue, horrifically rude staff. Treated like human cattle in the queue for Miku Expo, with snappy and incredibly rude security when finally inside. Never coming here for a concert again.

Fantastic show by Skunk Anansie, but I've never seen the Academy that packed! Usually you can get a bit of breathing room up the back by the bars, but it was wall to wall with people, and most of the time couldn't see a thing!
Was still a great gig and brilliant atmosphere!

Brilliant venue. So far I've been here twice, once for halestorm and avatar, the second for trixie Mattel. It's a huge venue with its theatrical stage, rising ceiling and upper level seating only adding to performances and sound when you're there.
Staff are really helpful and friendly, and the venue is very safe and easy to navigate.
There's an easy bus route to the venue no matter where you're staying. Nandos right outside if you arrive early, as well as pubs and bars down the road.
Sometimes queues for events can go right round the block for the O2 brixton, but it's an easy travel to the place so always aim to get there early if you can.

Another great place for great gigs. This academy is perfect to enjoy an "intimate" concert of your favourite band since it is not too small but definitely not big. I really had some of my best gigs here!

Probably my favourite place to watch a band now the Astoria has closed. Good atmosphere, lovely details in the decor retained from a bygone era, decent sound and the sloped floor means you don't have to worry about your view getting blocked by the tall people in front of you. Unless they're taking photos with an ipad.

Wieldy, friendly venue. Standing downstairs in the stalls, yet has a fairly steeply-raked floor so you get a good view from further back.

Some decent places to eat nearby. Beware the bars in the foyer are very limited, but the ones inside the stalls and circles have a much bigger range.

Handy for Brixton tube and the Victoria line, but also a 10 15 min walk from Stockwell and the Northern. If you're travelling from the south, consider parking at Morden tube.

Sound system just can't compete with other modern venues as the bass just bounces around the hollow floors and high ceilings and the mids non existent. 3 tiny bars on ground floor with just 2 people serving on each need to be scrapped and replaced with much larger serving areas.

Amazing place to see a band
Helpful staff & good acoustics
Only down side is that seeing the stage properly whilst in the balcony can be difficult

Went to see perfect circle with my boyfriend tonight and honestly I don't think I will ever go to this venue again. The band was amazing but my god the staff horrible!! Iv never been spoken to so badly by staff in my life. Bar staff too busy chatting to serve and don't get me started on the women at the door checking tickets. What a bunch of horrible people

A bit run-down, but a great venue nonetheless. The most obvious observation was the raked floor -- clever considering everyone gets a great view of the stage...but prepare for an achey back at the end of the show from resisting the urge to tip over for 2 hours! As per most venues, the washrooms were too small, but the Academy is about MUSIC, not the loo! The sound was fantastic -- my friends and I enjoyed a great show there.

Came here to see the composers. Door staff weren't particularly friendly, also to my shock no snacks or refreshments sold at the venue. Tried to go back out to purchase snacks elsewhere but was told there is a policy of once out cannot come back in. Went out regardless and luckily a friendly and reasonable member of the door staff let me back in. Would suggest this venue either starts selling food or have a more flexible door policy. For a three hour concert should people expect to not have any option to eat? Aside from the palavare, the composers did a good job and enjoyed their performance.
