My husband Herman recently had cervical spine surgery at WakeMed North and had an excellent experience. The surgical team was amazing led by Dr. Conor Regan. They kept us abreast each step along the way. I never felt anxious about what was going on, I knew he was in great hands. During his two night recovery, he had a team of caring and compassionate providers. You should have seen his face when he received a card in the mail from them and they cited back things to him he had told. They truly cared about him and listened. Thank you North WakeMed for this excellent experience.

My daughter sliced open her foot on New Year's Eve, right before all of the urgent care centers closed. So we had to go to the emergency room for a non-emergency. The triage nurse was great. She was funny and kind. The PA that treated my daughter, Kelly, was phenomenal. My daughter and I can be a handful but he managed to stitch up the bottom of her foot and do it with no pain. Everyone was amazing. While nobody wants to go to the emergency room, the staff was a pleasure to deal with. I can't thank them enough for their help!

Came in via ambulance for heart attack symptoms. Just left after over TWO HOURS of waiting in the waiting room without a single person even coming to check on how I was doing or give an update that they were behind or whatever the reason was for the long wait. ANY kind of update to show you all gave a rats behind about me as a patient would have gone a long way. But nothing. Watched 5 people be discharged within 45 minutes and not one single person taken back. It was not that busy. There were 2 others in the waiting room besides me. Furthermore, the tech who did my triage ekg was so rude and had zero bedside manner. I thought WakeMed main was a terrible experience...this campus is even worse. What a joke.

Will not ever go back here. I went Friday because ...

Will not ever go back here. I went Friday because I tripped and thought I ripped my c-section stitches bc I was in a lot of pain. I also mentioned to the nurses and doctors that my nipples were cracked and sore from breastfeeding and asked them to take a look at them. I was told that the nipples being sore was not an ER issue. (They wouldn't even look at them) and when the doctor came to see me she somehow got in her head that I thought I broke my pelvic bone when I fell. How you get broken pelvic bone out of I tripped and my stitches pulled... i don't know. But the doctor tried to con me in to geting an x-ray on my pelvic bone. I refused and finally got some pain meds for pulling my stitches. 2 days later (Christmas Day) I am back in the ER (this time at Wake Med Cary). I developed Mastitis and was told that I was lucky that I decided to come to the ER. I was given Antibiotics, nausea medicine, and pain pills. They even wanted to give me a morphine shot for the pain. If Wake Med North had looked at it like I asked them I could have avoided the fever, shakes, chills and awful body pains and headache that I had to endure. Not to mention there is no telling how much $ its going to cost for 2 ER visits. All could have been avoided. Very Frustrated and very angry!

Went there for pains in my chest. Ran a few test to determine if it was a blood clot and took a few X-Rays. Never saw an actual doctor to discuss what the tests showed, just told by a nurse that it wasn't a clot. Waited around for about another hour for medicine they didn't even end up bringing me.After 5 hours i ended up having to walk out around 11p.m so i could get home at a reasonable time and and go to work tomorrow. Staff was nice.

I had an extremely infected spider bite. I went to Duke Urgent care first 2 days ago and it got worse. So I went to this hospital. I went there and they took such wonderful care of me. PA Hannah McDougal was so sweet. I felt very confident in her care. Definitely will be going back if needed.

Well I've been to the ER all throughout my pregnancy because I was very sick. They were all great untill tonight.

We come here for post op surgery pain for my husband and after asking the doctor some questions we get our heads ripped off.
Husband showed signs of sepsis ( fever, high white blood count, nausea, pain and fainting) only for them to do a 3 day test for sepsis, instead of the blood test for results that night. My aunt who has been an ER nurse for over 30 years asks the doctor why he wouldnt run the immediate test. Only for him to chew her out. Then proceeds to chew me and my husband out. Smart remarks and rude comments left and right. We asked if he would be put on a broad spectrum antibiotic to cover what could be a post op infection (high fever and elevated white blood count) he then proceed to chew us out again. Never ever have I ever been treated so poorly by someone ever. The doctor wasn't even going to call my husbands surgeon to tell him he was in the hospital with post op complications till I asked him too. Wanna guess how that turned out? Yup proceeds to stand like a 13 year old girl, puts one hand on his hip and makes rude remarks. I am disgusted with the lack of professionalism from this doctor. I hope no one has to encounter him here because all the other doctors I've seen have been great.

To top it all off. The nurse comes in with discharge papers and says "well the fever and elevated white blood count could be signs of an infection or sepsis but we won't know for another 2 days or if your fever gets worse"
So we left with with them knowing he could possibly have an infection and instead of doing more blood work to narrow it down or do the blood test for sepsis they just sent him home

Slow horrible service!!! I went into the emergency room not too long ago with an excruciating pain and they did not even want to give me an MRI! The doctor that was "helping" me had 0 sympathy for me or my pain. My 2yr old granddaughter is currently there and has been waiting for over an hour with a very high fever! They charge tons of money and barley do anything to achieve their patients leaving healthy and happy. I do not recommend wake-med emergency room.

Went to the ER early afternoon on a weekday with what turned out to be a broken leg for my four-year-old. Was disappointed we had to wait so long as I had to carry her the entire time in my arms she was in so much pain. I think part of the problem is people don t realize half the time they should just stay home or schedule an appointment with your doctor. We were in the waiting area with adults taking naps with blankets with the flu. I personally feel the ER should be freed up for actual emergencies

Once we got to the back everyone was so nice and pleasant. My daughter is one who would rather take the pain than medicine so she was in an extreme amount of discomfort but still had a smile on her face. From x-rays to them putting the cast on everyone was extremely helpful and kind. I wish we could ve gone to the back a little sooner considering what kind of pain she was in is my only complaint

Some of the ER staff members are horrible. They are careless and really rude. In the waiting room, you can hear nurses and the secretaries laugh so loud. Patients can't rest. I asked nurse to pass a question to doctor, she rudely refused me by saying " there is no clear diagnose, it can be many different things". I asked to get a test to figure out what problem was, and the nurse told me" we can not give any test, it is all judged by eye". What?! People pay extra to ER also because their equipments. A lot of things can be checked immediately. Since when ER doctor start only judging by eye? And it is rediculous that nurse has right on behalf of doctor to give these answers?!
The doctor was fine. But the nurse and secretary are terrible!

I was newly diagnosed with MS. I was actually detected to have MS in the ER at Wake Med North. I was transported to the main campus on New Bern where I was admitted dor 7 days while my diagnosis was confirmed. The day I was discbarged, I began have severe pain at the base if my skull. The next day, on the way to my first neurology appointment, my pain became so excruciating, I had to go to the ER at Wakw Med North. I tried explained to them that I was newly diagnosed with MS, I hadn't had my initial neurology in appointment as if yet and I was in pain crisis. The staff were extremely nonchalant and unaffected. Even though I explained I'd just been there the week before and, I was in so much pain I couldnot walk and the lights physicly hurt me; the staff didnot try to accommodate me or show any interest in helping to ease my pain. When I finally spoke with the triage nurse, I explained I'd had a spinal tap during my admission to the main hospital and my pain was unbearable. She asked me tobrate my pain from 1 to 10. I told her it was a 50! She stated I would be called soon, picked my bag up and escorted me to the lobby, put my bag in a chair and stated, " You can wait here" and left me there. I cried. I screamed. I was never seen. I wound up calling a friend who helped me go to a Walgreens where the staff helped me get items to help ease my pain until I could get more advanced medical attention.

My experience at Wake Med North was a terrible one. I felt invisible, unimportant, dismissed and disrespected. There was no concern for my needs and I was offered no care in a situation where I needed urgent attention and care. Wake Med North IS NOT the ER to go to when you need urgent care!

I delivered my first child at Wake Med North in the beginning of July. It was a long labor and delivery and I couldn t speak higher about the medical team that took care of us during our stay. Everyone from the doctors to the nurses to the anesthesiologist during a repair surgery after delivery was comforting, knowledgeable, and provided excellent care. I also feel indebted to the lactation consultant that worked with us during our stay. Finally, small touches including a take home meal, a celebratory sparkling apple cider and Bundt cake and congratulatory card in the mail a few days after we got home all contributed to a sincere commitment to patient care.

I delivered a healthy baby boy at Wake Med North in July 2018! From start to finish I had a good experience. The check in people were great. The transportation people who wheel you in the chair where great.
The nurses were awesome! I had a few nurses because of long labor! Nurse Jackie is the one name I remember (for obvious reasons) but they all were wonderful kind attentive. No one pushes you to do what you don t want to do they just work with you to have the best delivery!
Dr. Roedner delivered my baby. I had not seen her before during prenatal care but I was so glad she wasn t on call that night. She was wonderful and has great stamina. 5 babies were born around the same time that night. She made me feel comfortable secure and like I was in control. Along with the nurses they let me try several natural tactics to get the baby out! I am a FTM and I would recommend delivering here. The after birth care was great and the food options are great. The rooms are large and comfortable and everything is clean. The lactation consultant was also great.

My husband had day surgery at WakeMed North on his foot June 6,2020. We were both so impressed with how the nurses and admission staff kept their social distancing. Nicholas Adams, was his doctor who is just the best and a very informative doctor. I was kept informed at all times during the surgery and that made me feel at ease.
Thank you to all the nurses for being so kind and caring! Tiffany, Gina A, Wanda and Marlene We want you again if he needs anymore surgery
God Bless you All!!

As far as hospitals go horrible service, seemingly inexperienced staff, physicians do not know what they are talking about, and the wait times are long too long. The staff does come off friendly. If you are white you will get better service. The medical staff will not take your condition seriously.

I never post reviews but honestly I had the absolute worst experience 3 times in this hospital! The worst being for my first pregnancy! I recently went into the ER, and they did not update me of ANY information! They only told me that I have hematoma, meanwhile there were about 8 other things that I was not told but was noted on my chart 2 days later. This is absolutely the worst hospital! Not to mention the technician that did an EKG test on me told me that my EKG test came back irregular when he is not authorized to give that information, only the doctor. When the doctor came my EKG was fine! I can t stand this place! If you have UNC or REX nearby, they are 100% more reliable, nicer environment and friendly staff!

Addition: I also asked the doctor her professional opinion if I should take a 12hrs flight during my first trimester for a vacation that had been planned. Her response was... I can t say you should fly or not and I can t promise you that nothing will happen on the flight. Very professional opinion.

I was admitted to 3N after an ER assessment on June 21 for a badly broken ankle. During my stay the staff were extremely attentive ensuring my comfort and support. At every level from dietary personnel, nursing staff, surgical staff, and transporters there were efforts to ensure I received the best care possible. I would definitely recommend WakeMed North.

My elderly mother came to this hospital by ambulance. The doctors attended to her quickly. We came because her legs were swollen and red. I'm writing this review because I am very impressed by the nurses here especially Chrissy Norris. She was very attentive to my mom. She is a great example of how a nurse should be with their patients. Jamal G the RN is a great nurse as well. Keep up the good work God is going to bless you!

I just delivered my third baby in this hospital, and if I could nominate them for Excellence, I would! Coming from Northern Virginia, I didn't know what to expect but this experience just surpassed my expectactions! The whole staff was excellent, nurses were caring, sweet and professional, food was exceptional, the rooms were spotless, it just felt like I was on a great hotel for a couple of days. I would recommend this facility for moms to be! Keep up the great work. Blessings

I was looking to be a new patient but I keep getting routed to voicemail. Even when I leave a voicemail, I don't get a call back. Its a shame because I really wanted to go to WakeMed North because of its location.

EMT's took me to the Wake Med North facility about 6am. They were great. The staff at Wake Med was wonderful. I have Menieres'. Seems but few even knew what it is. As i was being processed in i heard someone ask what is that. Guess you can't know everything and that is ok. The nurses were great and my Dr was very thorough. My biggest problem was when i was being released. My husband asked if they were going to wheel me to the front entrance. The RN said no i would walk out. After the RN processed my paperwork and i was ready to leave she let me go and it was not until i lost my balance and caught something she came to my assistance. Menieres has various symptoms one being drop attacks, in which case i would have been on the floor before she would have been there. The nurses were very attentive and walked with me. Extremely disappointed an RN did not know better.

My wife took my 5 yr old son in for stomach pain. It was after 9pm so she called and asked if they were equipped to see children. She was told yes. She took my son and waited 2 hrs. Waited another 30 minutes in the waiting room only to be told that the pediatric ultrasound machine was not available. So she basically wasted the entire night because they chose not to be upfront with this information. To top it off, they were very cold and unsympathetic about the issue. Terrible situation and terrible place, will not be going back to this place. Pathetic!

WakeMed has to be the worst in the RDU area. Go to a UNC or Duke hospital. WakeMed has some of the most under-qualified staff I've ever encountered in the medical field. Just because they have a nurse badge or a Dr. in front of their name doesn't mean they know what they're talking about. Seek real medical staff with real medical knowledge elsewhere b/c it's sorely lacking at WakeMed.

EDIT: I submitted the experience several days ago to that e-mail address. Waiting to hear back.

EDIT2: I received a call back during business hours. I mentioned that I would have to call him back when I had time to speak. I tried to call the following week and was directed to a voicemail. No response since.

I came in to the ER last night with a kidney stone. for over a week i have been hurting with this. They did a CT Scan and depending on where the stone is even with a CT scan they can be hard to see. I have had problems with these since the age of 18, I can tell before the pain even starts i am about to pass one. I would bet from the age of 18 until now i have had close to 60 to 70 stones. My Doctor was Doctor Wallace. He is one of the few doctors that actually listened to me and trusted what i was saying. My Jon was one of my Nurses. Together they made me feel actually good about coming to the hospital. In the past i have been made feel somewhat guilty because i did not want to continue to suffer with this stone. He is one in many that just didn't make me feel guilty about being there. I am very grateful to him and i want WakeMed North to know that he is a great doctor that genuinely cares about his patients.

My boyfriend and I delivered our first baby, Easton, here 2 weeks ago. We had the best experience coming through the doors and being greeted at the front desk, through the triage, all the way through the delivery and post-partum care. Special thanks to our RNs, Rhonda, Brooke, and the whole team, and breast-feeding consultant, Jackie. Your care was very appreciated and we learned a lot from y'all. I have only positive things to say about this hospital and have already recommend it to some of my pregnant friends. Thanks again! :)

The hospital staff were helpful and friendly from the moment I walked through the door. It didn't take long for them to get me back to a room and yes once i was in there it took a little time for the Dr to get around to me however her bedside manor was amazing and the nurses are great. I see some bad reviews however any hospital you go to you will wait please keep in mind this hospital is not as big as the major hospitals and they do not have the same size staff but I would rather wait a few minutes and be treated like a human and get the care they provided

I recently delivered my second baby at WakeMed North and cannot sing their praises enough! I delivered my first at UNC which was an awful experience so I was unsure this time around. The hospital is brand new and absolutely beautiful-the rooms are equal to those of a higher end hotel. Every staff member we encountered was genuinely friendly and made us feel comfortable (we even received a card in the mail signed by all the nurses that took care of us!) Dr Jacobs was on duty at the time we arrived and he was also fabulous. It was obvious that he is very knowledgeable, and I felt well taken care of as one of his patients. I can't think of a better scenario for a comfortable and smooth labor and delivery. This hospital also has a few extra perks including a room service style menu for Mom, Dad, siblings, and guests to order from (the food is delicious and generous portions), and an adorable cake with two champagne flutes of sparkling juice are brought in to celebrate baby's birth. These extras make an otherwise blah hospital stay a lot more fun. If you have the option to choose, I would 200% recommend WakeMed North for labor and delivery. Keep up the great job, WakeMed!! I would give ten stars if I could.

I feel highly disrespected by the emergency room staff. I brought my 2 year into the ER at because he was displaying signs of pneumonia and he was having short breaths and coughing to a point of vommiting.. He had a fever... We gave him some children's Advil yo reduce his fever amd brought him to the hospital. The triage nurse downgraded his symptoms in their system to a "cough".... Like what person in their right mind would drag a 2 year old to the hospital in the middle of the night over a cough... After waiting to be seen for over 2 hours.... we finally just left and took him to a different hospital where they took his symptoms more seriously. He literally never got seen.

Wonderful experience having my baby at this hospital. The nurses were awesome and my c-section was great. The nurses and doctors explained everything in detail and made sure I was comfortable before, during and after delivery. I had a very positive experience and the staff went above and beyond to make sure myself and my partner was comfortable even during this COVID time. My baby was in the room with me in my suite the whole time which made me even more comfortable. The food was pretty good and I got my choice of what I wanted to eat for every meal, they even sent us home with pre cooked meals after we got released. I recommend this hospital for anyone I know delivering in the area, you will be very pleased and cared for.

Went there a 3 weeks ago with chest sensations and shortness of breath. Told the front desk I had an EKG last week and was scheduled to see the cardiologist in a couple weeks but because of how strong my symptoms were I didn't want to wait on my Dr appt. So they took me to a side room and ran an EKG anyway. When the EKG read ok came, I felt like I could have dropped dead to them. They sent me to the lobby and that's it. 3 hours later I asked the front desk when would I be seen and she said folks were still ahead of me. But a drunk came in and he went straight back and a girl who was obviously going through withdrawal went back. I just decided to leave. Then to make matters worse, the bill was almost $2,000. Hell, I almost had a heart attack from the bill. They charged for the EKG and $1,500 for emergency room care when I sat in the lobby for 3 hr, I never made it to the actual emergency room. And my portion of the EKG was $126 mind you I told them I just had one. Ok I get the EKG because they wanted to be sure but I think the emergency room care was just slapped onto the bill to ensure they recieve a nice payment. Thanks but no thanks, I will go to a different hospital next time.

Mom was taken to ER. I had no trouble getting back to see her, but had trouble getting info or help from staff. She was there from around 9am-4pm and no one ever brought any water or something to drink even after we asked. Finally grabbed a cup from nursing area desk and got water from sink in room.

When she was ready for discharge I stood at long desk in middle of ER for a good 5 minutes while about 15 staff members and/or doctors studiously ignored me while they were working, chatting, or staring at their screens.

Hope I never end up here again! And no I don't want to further discuss it with you, owner.

On October 7th, 2020 I gave birth at Wake Med North off of Falls of Neuse. it was THE BEST experience from the moment I arrived to the moment they wheeled me out of the hospital. I am forever grateful for Dr. Benoit-Wilson and the team of nurses that worked along side her - Nurse Caleigh, Tiffany (both Tiffany's), Mandi, Kristin & Meredith & anyone else I forgot. I felt like my baby was in the BEST hands and that I was being properly cared for. If the Lord blesses me with another child then this will be were I am delivering. I was so scared going in the their kindness and compassion really put me at ease.

10/10 would deliver here again.

My wife and I recently had a baby born here and were extremely impressed! From the beginning Tina & Kayleigh calmed our nerves and told us what to expect. All the Nurses were incredible(Sandi & Kaylee in particular) and made us so comfortable throughout the entire process. They answered our questions and took the time to guide us as new parents. The sanitation was exceptionally good and the ladies were extremely courteous. We also had the privilege of having Dr. Kennedy deliver our baby with the help from an awesome team! The room was spacious and offered many amenities. Lastly, thanks to JoAnn who rolled my wife out front for me to pick her up! She was awesome!! Unfortunately I am unable to recall everyone s names that made this an incredibly special moment, but this is a highly recommended place to have a baby! Thanks again to everyone for making us feel at home and treating us so kindly.

Went into WakeMed ER North Campusv 10:00 pm to be seen for head dizziness, nasuea & feeling fatigue I waited for 5 hours 3:00am still was NOT called, I left was better off staying home lying down. They put a Fall risk & allergy band on me as if they were going to make sure they work a little harder to get the patients in. Better off going to REX hospital or UrgentCare

Wow. Went to ER just after midnight for excruciat...

Wow. Went to ER just after midnight for excruciating kidney stone pain. Waited over 1 hour just to be triaged. Laid on floor of lobby in agony without any assistance. Once back staff were friendly enough. If you're hurting though, go somewhere else. If kidney stones, call the "stone phone" in Raleigh.
Wake Med North needs to have some crucial conversations about where the missing link is. ER patient wait-time is the single most important factor in patient experience. It's 2017- what gives?

We feel so lucky that we live close to this hospit...

We feel so lucky that we live close to this hospital. Our son decided to make his debut a bit earlier than planned and in a hurry, so my husband rushed me to the hospital. Unfortunately, I needed a c-section as quickly as possible due to an emergency situation that put both of our lives at risk. We had our Benjamin within a hour of arriving. My son is healthy and happy, as I am, thanks to the quick response of the entire staff. I thank God every day for the unbelievable treatment we received here. After the initial surgery, my son was treated very well in the special care unit, and I couldn't have asked for better nurses myself. I also had a wonderful experience with the lactation consultant. My breastfeeding journey has almost been perfect due to all of her help during our stay. My husband and I left after our five day stay feeling confident and ready to take care of our little boy. Thank you so much!
