The ultimate is customer service. Ken took all the time in the world to show my daughter and I how to get up on the wakeboard and it worked! This was the first time for both of my kids and they got it and are hooked! Went the next day to buy a board and Ken was super helpful. I highly recommend!!! Also, they have some great clothing too.
Great selection. Nice people to deal with. We had a problem with a life jacket we purchased and they resolved the issue within 5 minutes with NO hassle. We get all of our gear from them.
Great products. However, if an item says 40% off taken at register, that discount SHOULD be taken off the cheaper of any price on the tag. For instance, if an item is $129.99 and that has been marked to $85.00, then 40% SHOULD be taken from $85.00. Poor customer service, this long time SML er will not return.

My family and I went to smith mountain lake on vacation and I can honestly say having SMLWC there made the trip that much better. With a large selection and knowledgeable staff it wasn't hard to find what we were looking for (or not looking for), from gear to apparel we all got something. I was very impressed when the owner took care of a warranty issue for me immediately to get me back on the water within minutes. I can't say thank you enough to Ken and team for the awesome experience shopping in your store!
This is a wonderful place for the family. There is so much to do! Coffee, Arcade, food, mini golf, ice cream, feeding the fish and more. There is also free boat docking. If you are in the area or out on the water this is a fun place to stop.
I try to shop local as much as possible. I ve lived at the lake for 12 years and have given this store a lot of my business. Every time I go in, I hope that the experience will be better than the previous... but every time it is equally as poor or worse. The selection of items is fairly good, but virtually zero customer service. I have been offered assistance by an employee once in 12 years. It is very typical for the employees to be chatting so hard that they can t seem to be bothered to assist customers or even worse stop talking to ring up your purchases.
I ve purchased two wakeboards and two surfboards from this shop over the years. Several of our friends have also purchased stuff from them. Ken is very knowledgeable in what boards suit each person. The custom made surf style boards are super fast and fun! Always great prices too!
We've been to SMWC twice this summer, and I have to agree with the customer who mentioned the poor customer service. The first time we went, the man was downright surly, as if it was a bother to point us in the right direction. The second time, three young people were clustered behind the counter, on their cell phones, rather indifferent. I don't remember it being this way until recently. In past years, we bought ski vests, clothing, and a wakeboard. The workers used to be friendly and helpful. Staff needs to put their phones away and make customers feel welcome. Their dismissive attitude this past weekend was enough to make us walk out and spend our money elsewhere. I'm giving two stars because they do have a nice selection of good quality things and the wakeboard and vests we bought in the past are holding up well.
