some of the staff is not as caring as they should ...

some of the staff is not as caring as they should be, but for the most part it was a wonderful experience, the mental hospital helped me a lot, the staff on the day shift especially Adam & Jessica were my 2 favorite staff members, the med techs were great, playing music to keep themselves calm & the patients calm was a very great thing. the night shift was okay, some were a little immature, but there were some night staff that were understanding and great at interacting with each other and the patients, playing music for the patients who wanted to sing/dance, playing card games, some watched tv, especially the football games. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone, the food is delicious, the activities were a lot of fun, the staff member that brings the radio/karaoke was a lot of fun to be around, it helped me a lot to hear music, it calmed me when I was getting too anxious. I think the staff is under payed, they need more men on the day shift, there should not be only women on the shift/shifts, there needs to be a balance. the patients also need to be watched to make sure they take their meds and don t spit them out ect. the house keeper (man) day shift needs to be payed more, he works very hard cleaning the rooms & the floors. the therapist is great, the docs are great especially DR (Psychiatrist) is very nice & understanding she listens to the patients and gives the correct diagnosis & the right kind of meds. the only thing I would recommend is do not try to push the unstable patients to their breaking point, that is not right and in my honest opinion it is not fair or human to push patients to the point of having to be knocked out & or put in restraints. they are already having issues when they arrive, in a new, unknown place not knowing what to expect ect. the staff needs to understand that the patients are human just like them & they could also be on the other side and need to think about how they would want to be treated ect if they one day had to go into the facility they work at or a different one. Yes they have to be professional because it is their job/work place, but there needs to be a balance, I have been to several in oklahoma & in Texas, all were very different experiences, some not so good, but Wagoner was the best one I have been too. keep up the good work & keep singing Jessica & Adam keep up the good work, the rest of the staff, night & day, keep smiling, dancing, singing, playing games ect. ALL of you made a huge impact on me & my life & I appreciate everything each one of you did that contributed to me coming out stronger & more determined to fulfill my dreams & understand that it s okay to be on medication, I am still human and still as valuable as anyone else.. also, the lady over the bingo.....thank you for my special mask, you were such a joy to be around, you have a great attitude and was able to get the patients & staff all enthused at whatever we were getting the privilege to play or attend, the games outside were a lot of fun, the bingo was a lot of fun also, especially getting to do a little dance for extra candy when we won the bingo game, I wish that one day I can come and donate some prizes, candy ect to go towards the bingo games, snacks ect for the new or repeat patients that come to the facility . God Bless All of the staff, you all are great at your jobs & all of you were very nice to me and the other patients that were there with me also. I give a 10 out of 10 and hats off to the staff for putting up with me even though I know it was not easy at times! Amanda

I took my 8yr old autistic child in for oral surgery today.
I was so happy to see how well the staff dealt with him. They were patient, understanding and kind to him. His nurses knew first hand about special needs children. Made it so much easier on me. I could actually relax knowing he was in good hands. The OR staff was also great with him.
And his dentist, Dr. Massad was very knowledgeable about special needs kids and oral surgery.
I give this hospital a huge !

My kids were sent to this emergency room over this past 2021 easter weekend. They were seen after being in an ATV accident while at their moms house. I came in and spoke with Stacie who was working the desk where you check in. She advised me that even though I was a parent I couldn't go back there to be with my kids who are 10 and 5. I asked if I could go back and trade places with my kids mom to see them and let them know that their daddy was there with them. Again I was told no and that whoever brought them in was the only person who could be back there with them. I tried on several occasions to ask Stacie if she could tell me how my kids are doing and what treatment was being done. Stacie proceeded to tell me that she can only tell me they are doing good. This was by far the worst treatment I have ever recieved from any hospital or infact any kind of srevice representative ever. If you can avoid taking a loved one here I would do so. This woman deserved to loose her job.

I was sent to the inpatient mental health unit of the wagoner community hospital. I was in for 5 days. I didn t get to go outside until the 3rd day I was there. I saw a therapist ONCE, and there wasn t even a doctor there. I had a 3 minute FaceTime call with a doctor and that is the only help I received. The staff would just stand around visiting as patients were having breakdowns. You are not provided any hygiene products unless you seek them out your self and ask for them. I was basically there to be babysat, I didn t receive an ounce or help. Every staff member treats you like a child, and EVERYONE is treated like that. This place traumatized me. Please don t allow yourself or your children to be taken here.

After struggling with mental health issues, I went to the ER where I am located in Tulsa and was sent to this facility due to the lack of beds anywhere else. I have also gone to this hospital for psychiatric visits, as well as to see my primary care physician. I have not had any issues thus far with either of these individuals, and I am only speaking on the mental health portion of this facility.

As soon as I came into this facility and began interacting with other patients, it became evident that the staff did not treat their patients well. I was told immediately by other patients to "fake it 'til you make it" if you wanted to get out of this facility. It also became obvious that none of these patients were aware of absolutely anything involving their care. If we got to speak to the doctor--which typically happened every other day--it was for less than five minutes and very straightforward. The doctor immediately puts you on medication and often one that is way too high a dosage for the patient. There was a girl there who was only eighteen who was constantly drugged out of her mind and crying, and the staff and doctor cared too little to do anything about this other than to extend her stay.

We had "group" maybe once or twice a day, ranging from 5 minutes to 30 minutes in length, and there was typically nothing to be gained from these sessions. At the first session I went to, the therapist spoke on the definition and symptoms of PTSD--which many of the patients there had--but gave no insight on how to deal with this disorder. This was a trend for all of these sessions, for the most part. Or we would fill out a useless sheet about our goals and turn it in.

The only staff members I can speak positively on would be Renee, AJ, and another lady who I can't remember the name of. These staff members were the only ones that I felt and saw show genuine care for the patients here. Renee was the only staff member who educated any of us patients on what our care here would entail.

Not as serious as the other things I have and will mention, but this facility had very little avenues for entertainment. There were multiple, very worn card decks, yet none of them had all 52 cards. The board games were all missing pieces. But at least we had some coloring pages to color for the entirety of our stay there.

As for the other staff members, older patients that were often unable to care for themselves were ignored. There were many occasions in which these patients smelled very strongly of urine, and the staff would rarely do anything to take care of these patients. My roommate when I initially arrived was barely able to care for herself. There was an occasion that a fire alarm went off, and she was unable to get up from her bed because she felt very lightheaded. I asked nearby nurses for help, and most ignored me. I attempted to help my roommate up, despite being disabled myself and requiring a crutch for assistance. If the staff did help, it was always with very little care for their patients. They would get annoyed that my roommate wouldn't just get up, and I believe they thought she was faking.

On my last night here, a new patient arrived at around midnight who clearly suffered from schizophrenia. She became my new roommate since my last roommate had left. She was moaning in pain somewhat loudly, and this was the only time I ever saw the nurses immediately respond to anything. At least three different nurses came in to tell her to be quiet so she didn't "wake other patients." When they left, she began to cry harder and struggled to be quiet. I ended up consoling her and offering her pen and paper so she could draw. This is the only thing that calmed her down. It would have taken the nurses just a moment to calm this girl down. Why get into a field centered around helping people in a fragile state of mind if you do not give one single f**k about people? This was a recurring experience.

Overall, the mental health portion of this facility is extremely flawed. They need to be almost entirely re-staffed.

Huge shout out to Wagoner Community Hospital + Neurology clinic in BA. Katie, the neurology assistant, helped me SO much today! Med is currently being filled - no hospital tonight! Yay!

This neurology clinic offers m m j recs every Friday! The doctor and nurse that host are phenomenal. I became a neuro patient because of their professionalism, care and dedication to helping their patients. There are so many things I could say, but after this week, words really aren't enough to express how grateful I am to be their patient.

My daughter was scheduled for surgery. They had us go in the Friday before for required pre-op testing for surgery. They then called me they afternoon before surgery to tell me how much we'd owe, and five minutes later called my daughter to tell her surgery was canceled. I called the doctor to ask why, and they hadn t even told the doctor! After waiting a couple of hours, the doctor s office called back and said the hospital told them they didn t get needed supplies in on time. We tried rescheduling the surgery with them again a couple of weeks later and they told the doctor's office flat out they couldn t accommodate that type of surgery. So it wasn t a supply issue at all. And now, here it is a month later, and they have billed my insurance for over $900 and still counting for the pre-op testing for a surgery THEY canceled and had no intention of ever allowing to be done! I called their billing office (who is just one person), who was out, got transferred to a supervisor who must have been out as well and left a message asking why they are billing my insurance for pre-op for a surgery they canceled and refused to perform there. Two days later and still no return call. Stay as far away from this place as you can.

Editing to update: Called Thursday last week. Finally got a return call today, Tuesday. They are sending the payment back to insurance and writing off our portion. The person admitted that they were not equipped to handle this type of surgery so it should never have been set up there at all. Happy with the outcome. Angry still they didn t own up to it in the beginning. It s over a month later, and we are finally getting close once again to a surgery date, just somewhere else. We wasted an entire month while my daughter was in pain because of this hospital.

All of the doctors except for one are extremely pleasant. Dr. Brent is by far my favorite in the emergency room. He took great care of me and actually took his time with me, even giving me some life changing advice. Thank you Dr. Brent! You're awesome!
