About Voices Against Violence
Voices Against Violence: A Leading Non-Profit Organization Fighting Against Domestic Violence
Voices Against Violence is a non-profit organization that has been working tirelessly to end domestic violence and provide support to survivors for over 40 years. The organization was founded in the early 1980s by a group of concerned citizens who recognized the need for a safe haven for victims of domestic violence.
Today, Voices Against Violence is one of the leading organizations in the United States dedicated to ending domestic violence. The organization provides comprehensive services to survivors, including emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, and community education.
Out of caution for the health and safety of our community, our services will continue virtually until further notice. With the exception of 24-hour facilities, Recovery Center, and Childcare which remain open. WIC continues to serve most participants remotely and now has limited services available in person by appointment only.
Services Offered by Voices Against Violence
Emergency Shelter: Voices Against Violence operates several emergency shelters throughout its service area where survivors can find safety from their abusers. These shelters are staffed around-the-clock by trained advocates who provide emotional support as well as practical assistance with things like finding housing or employment.
Counseling: Survivors often experience trauma as a result of their abuse. To help them heal from this trauma, Voices Against Violence offers individual counseling sessions with licensed therapists who specialize in working with survivors of domestic violence.
Legal Advocacy: Many survivors face legal challenges related to their abuse such as obtaining restraining orders or navigating custody battles. To help them through these challenges, Voices Against Violence provides free legal advocacy services staffed by experienced attorneys.
Community Education: In addition to providing direct services to survivors, Voices Against Violence also works tirelessly to educate communities about domestic violence prevention strategies and how they can support those affected by abuse.
