Worst vacation and expirience in general in my entire life at the viva Wydham Dominicus la Romana Dominican Republic.
NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN. First I would like to point out that not once have I ever written a review good or bad about anything, but for this resort I will make an exeption. I have been to Dominican Republic 4 times prior to last week. Stayed at "life style" in Puerto Plata. What an amazing experience. Decided to try the Wydham at la Romana to change it up a bit. What an aweful mistake that was. I will make this short to highlight the good and bad. Here we go.
The Good :
Beautiful beach me crystal clear water.
Done.
The Bad :
Rude nasty and unfriendly staff, from the minute we got there and tried the check in the guy at front desk raised his hand at my GF and rudely told her to relax when she asked if he had received the email she just sent confirming our reservation.
Shady staff : when staff walks by you and can't look at you in the eyes to say good morning that's a problem.
Shady staff again : our 3rd day there I noticed something weird in my room once we return from the beach at about 4:30 pm, the 2 bottles of water you receive daily usually left in the bathroom were left by the tv and no clean towels were left that day, that same night I went in the closet to get my wallet that I kept there to get some cash out for cigars and tips and noticed that my only $100 bill that I had kept in there was no longer there, the Wallet never left the room. Cleaning people most likely took it . File a report and they told me they had spoken to the person that cleaned my room and it was her word against mine and they believed her ( exact words ) to use the safe next time and that I would learn from my expirience ( same exact words again ) friendly huh?
Unhealthy and unsanitary : on our 2nd day as I was lining up in the buffet to get some eggs made I noticed a decent size cockroach near the toppings for the omelet , about an inch in size , the staff member saw it and just smacked it out of the way and went about his business as if it was nothing .
2 days later spotted another cockroach inside the bathroom of my hut ( I call it a hut because it does not deserve to be call a room , nowhere in the reservation do they tell you that you will be staying in a hut the size of a regular size home bedroom , no fridge nothing at all, just unpleasant .
Back to unfriendly : tried to make reservation for 3 of the restaurant you're allowed to eat at ( they tell you 10 when booking ) and was welcome but a rude employee asking me what I wanted I proceed to tell him he should start by giving us the options Since it was our first time there . Snapped at me and said there were to more reservation available besides the Mexican restaurant for 2 days later at 9:30 pm. We walked out understanly upset of being treated like garbage without booking anything , I ran into our tour guide Jeffrey ( the most awesome and nicest guy there ) explained to him my issue, 4 hours later I had 3 reservations left in my room for 3 different days at 7:15 for the supposedly booked restaurants, the following day I received a call in my hut from the person who had been nasty to us apologizing and said he was having a bad day ( that was appreciated ). Went to 2 restaurants ( all of them had 80% of the chairs empty ) and decided to stick to the buffet because food was just not good at all.
Overall I give this resort a 0 out of 10 because even the best beach in the world isn't worth all the misery we were put through . Thanks for Wyndham Dominicus I will never visit the Dominican Republic again and I hope nobody has to go through what me and my pregnant girlfriend went through .

I thought it was a very good place. Not so the sale of Club Vacations to become PARTNERS. They invite you to a promotional breakfast, and they give you a lot of information in a few minutes and they tell you about having to decide at the same time for the benefits, for your next vacation. Once you give the card and spend the amount, they give you an account to read of 9 pages, where I didn't feel sure of what I was hiring. Very relaxing, service staff extremely friendly, for it to be an all inclusive resort the food and drinks were great.
The place is very beautiful and clean. People are friendly and nice. I didn't like that people could smoke anywhere. I wish they would give them certain arias. Worst part that my driver license and my three credit cards were stolen out of my wallet in the room at hotel. I would recommend to keep everything in the safe.

Huge hotel with a beautiful beach. The room that we had was not very nice but everything else in the facilities makes the hotel an excellent place to spend a very good vacation.
Very badly organized a mess of people and little control
Very nice, especially the excursion with quads and saona ... The only flaw is to stay 8 hours without rooms (plus 3 hours of waiting for the flight) ... because of the check out so throw away a day, under the sun without its own bathroom. For the rest, a beautiful holiday.
Missing frigobar in room. Not good attention at the reception. They charge the safe. There is no wf. They charge separately and it is bad. They treat Europeans differently. And they try to sell you at all costs a membership .... The drinks are not very good. Entertainment very well

We stayed December 2018 x 15 days my husband and my 4 year old daughter ... nice village and well kept x as for the outdoor spaces ... gardens ... beach ... spectacular sea ... we stayed in a garden bungalow ... a Po dated and never clean enough ... I think that in 15 days we never swept ... just given the rag ... repetitive and poor quality food ... elongated drinks .. restaurant room with A very dirty floor ... hike to the fantastic island of saona .. outside in the street I highly recommend eating at the cueva ... normal prices and buonkssimo food!

Best vacation spot! Although stepping out of the resort gate is a sobering experience.
Do not vacation in this hotel the bartender serves whomever they want they are racist my crazy you had to wait at least 30 minutes to get served and its for 12 days! And moreover we cannot leave the hotel and exit once we are attacked by the owners of the small stores on the alley in front of the hotel and he offers us drugs even which work in the hotel when we buy bah he would tell us free and be careful here!
Beautiful fun village and wide choice of restaurants "BUNGALOW UN POINTED TO IMPROVE"
The village is huge and well cared for in the common areas. Directly overlooking the beautiful Caribbean Sea.
The nodes, too many, come to a head when it comes to services.
Let's start from the arrival. After checking in, the front desk called the porter. Apart from the fact that in our case it was useless, since our bungalow was very close to the reception (but certainly useful for other accommodations), the porter loaded 2 10kg suitcases onto the trolley, walked a few meters and unloaded the 2 suitcases. Total work time 30-40 seconds. We gave the porter a tip of 2 ALREADY STAFFED FROM THE STRUCTURE (I repeat, 40 sec of work) and he took them as if they were excrements, with an expression that you can imagine. If I took 2 every time I work 40 seconds I would jump for joy.
The bungalow was large, but instead of finding a comfortable double bed we found 2 1/2 beds which, being on vacation with the girlfriend, are not the maximum of comfort. The furniture is old and broken. The dresser fits in every time you open it. Shower often without pressure and barely warm. In-room safe is charged ( 2 / day).
The room cleaning service wouldn't hurt either, if they remembered to leave the shower towels. On 7 days we had to request them 4 times because they were missing in the evening when they returned to their room. Ah yes, it happens that the cleaning ladies come in without knocking, once finding us completely naked.
The communal bathrooms inside the resort are indecent. You rarely find them clean, unobstructed and with the drain working; water is often missing even from taps. If you have to go to the bathroom you have to go back to your room.
The most painful points, however, if possible, are connected with the bar and restaurant service.
CATERING: the main restaurant, although large, is not adequate for the size of the structure and often creates overcrowding. the menu is repetitive, but it can be there. The real problem, however, are the waiters; they are listless, incompetent and unkind. Often it happened that tables freed by the patrons were not cleaned and reapplied (despite the crush). It happens every day that the customer should clean and set the table left free by previous users, while the waiters quietly talk and laugh among themselves. If you ask where you can find clean napkins and cutlery you have 2 possible answers: either they laugh in your face and resume their business, or they bring you the cutlery with an expression that seems to have insulted his mother. Clean buffet dishes are often lacking. The tablecloths do not exist.
The snack service during the day is on the same level, with waits for food and endless clean dishes, especially aperitif time ..
In the all inclusive package you have the right, IN THEORY, to 3 dinners in the many thematic restaurants of the structure (by reservation). I say "in theory" because when you try to book them you are almost always told that there is no room. Making the reservation the same day of my arrival I was lucky enough to find a table for the second and last night of my vacation. Other guys who tried to book the day after me didn't even find a free table and had to give up. It is a pity because in the thematic restaurants the service is excellent and the cuisine also.
BAR: the professionalism and courtesy of the baristas (with few exceptions) is comparable to that of waiters.
Used glasses are rinsed with hot water (not washed) and put back into use.
The only positive note, in addition to the beauty of the structure in the common gardens, are the excursions, carried out by extremely courteous, helpful and competent staff, even if the price is really high.
In conclusion: if I had to rely on general services I would give 1 star, but the beauty of the gardens and the excursions put a minimum on the judgment.
They charge you things without warning and they are not written.
The complex is very good, heavenly place, numerous swimming pool as well as beaches, ideal place for relaxation.
Regarding the bungalows they are well equipped with large comfortable bed, dilapidated but functional air conditioning, some black joints to be redone etc. But we don't come here for that
Rooms made every morning, many shops in the complex more expensive but with prices indicated not like some outside shops that try to rip you off.
As for the excursions they are expensive but pretty and expect you to be asked endlessly for tips, photos, videos and those that become painful in the long run.
Resort where Italian is spoken. Well maintained facilities, the rooms are large but there is not one that has a silent air conditioner

The beautiful place, exquisite beach, correct infrastructure although sometimes deficient due to water problems in the bathrooms. The attention in the La Rocca restaurant is very good, friendly and smiling employees every day, despite the rest of the hotel staff, terrible, rude, especially in the bars. They pouted when asking for a drink or soda, they did not respond, they made them wait without even looking at them, children were not taken into account etc.
As for the animation, the dancers were listless and tired. I was expecting more from the experience. I hope they improve or be something specific so that we can return mainly for the deliciousness of the place.

First experience in an all inclusive. for us all very impressive. Open bar, all you can eat restaurants..Three stars for the suspicion that the cleaning lady has autonomously pocketed the tip and for the management's attempts to make us subscribe to a kind of 15,000 euro premium subscription.
Positive experience but without excess. The structure is divided into several buildings, some of which have been recently refurbished, others less.
My judgment is sufficient as the building I stayed in often had problems with hot water. In fact, in a week we never managed to take a hot shower. Furthermore, there were major renovations that caused loud noises of hammers and vibrations during the day.
The WiFi inside the rooms is practically unusable and is available with poor quality, in the common areas.
I just wonder if in case of full influx of the Resort the beach available is really sufficient to comfortably accommodate all tourists.
For sure, living it in a low season is ideal.
As for food, you certainly don't go to Santo Domingo at Viva Dominicus for the food which is acceptable But absolutely nothing exciting. The buffets are large but of poor quality. restaurants that can be booked for the evening slightly improve the level of food.
Of course the landscapes, the colors, the climate, the water and the beach recover the negative points of the structure.
Even the animation itself is not the best albeit fun.
If the goal is to find something affordable without any particular pretensions The structure lives up to expectations.

Quaint place, very basic. Staff was friendly. Food at the snack bar is the same everyday. There is nothing else except snack bar between breakfast, lunch and dinner. Drinks were okay but no variety of choices and no "real" bartenders. Our bungalow would have been better with just one king or queen bed. Lastly, they need to provide washcloths instead of hand towels for . This is a mostly European resort, Americans are the minority here. It was very rare to hear English-language.
We are here for the second time and it is just fine. But there are likely to be 1 to 2 more German TV channels that you could look a bit in the rain or maybe evenings. Bungalow exchange worked very fast and well. Unfortunately yesterday music was a bit too loud at the bar, so went to the room early. And unfortunately one could not watch a movie in German, pity we thought that would have changed in the last 2 years , it might be a bit more German spoken ....

The best there is in the beaches of Bayahibe. It is a 4 star with ambitions of 7 ... Excellent rooms, beaches, restaurants and shopping center. Good taste and excellent service. One of the best hotels in the Dominican Republic and nothing to envy from other ostentatious chains on that beautiful island. IMPERDIBLE if you go to Bayahibe ... You will forget what Punta Cana is, far surpassed by its Caribbean beaches and its beautiful landscapes.
