What a great place to go to. I highly recommend going here if you haven't checked it out already. The staff is great and the drinks are just as good. Usually come with a group of friends and it is always a good time. Remember the bar was slow one day and me and my friend were talking to the bartender. He asked us if we ever been ontop of a bar and we both said no. Well this is what happened after....
Like I said, great people with an interesting environment. 12/10 for me
Love this place! Their drinks, food and ambience were so much fun. The bartenders were friendly and clearly enjoyed making good cocktails. If you're a mezcal fan definitely get the Mezcali mi banana, my favorite mezcal drink I've had so far.
Seriously some of the most creative cocktails I've had! It's a small space, but love the vibe here. The staff are usually really nice and try very hard to attend to everyone even when they are busy. Definitely one of the must-check bars in CA!
Friendly staff, good drinks. A couple of things I didn't love: the seats are pretty uncomfortable - whether you're sitting on the hard wooden chairs or on the thin cushions in the booths, it's just not comfortable. Also, the place had a weird body odor smell that didn't go away. These things could be easily fixed and could make the place great.
Worst customer service. Sat at the bar and was not served for 10 minutes. Once the bartender came by I asked what they are known for and she said " food and cocktails" as she walked back down the hallway. We had to leave. Not going to sit there with that service.
Cute place with an even cuter drink menu. Nice vibe for a date or a wine night with your friends. Potentially instagrammable if you can get the right lighting down.
Excellent cocktails in a hip/trendy location. If you're looking for a solid cocktail bar that also offers small bites and dancing on weekends then this spot is for you. Not to mention their new patio is v chill and has board games. If your aesthetic is candle-lit, exposed brick, wooden beams and iron trim then you can die happy here.
walked in early morning and was greeted right away. I ve been here at all times of the day and if you re looking for breakfast, lunch or dinner it s a convenient and quality place. I like to order the iced latte made with oat milk and a shot of Maca Powder. For lunch the Brussel Sprout Tacos were Fire! The fries and Melrose mule goes a long way too! Highly reccomend for any occasion and the staff is really great. Most of all the place is clean.
My favorite bar in LA so far! The bartenders are friendly & layback! Cocktails really are the best in LA. I ordered a whisky sour for the first time (which isn't on their menu) but still made it for me. Very delicious.
Great food awesome drinks!!! We love the guy who brought us food and picked up our places he was super nice and the bar tender but the waitress....Mama had attitude almost made us want to leave.
A semi-secret Melrose charmer. Classy chill place with designer cocktails, beer and wine. Some food is possible from the neighboring restaurant. All things considered, this is the new "it" place on Melrose.
Really delicious cocktails and excellent service. I'm usually more of a beer drinker, so I'm never sure what to get when I have cocktails, but there's literally no way you could go wrong with ordering any of the cocktails here.
They have pretty nice outdoor seating, really nice servers, and pretty good happy hour deals because they have extended hours (until 7pm). I usually tend to get off work around 5:30-6, and miss the regular happy hour time. But we were happy that they have it until 7pm.
This bar is a cute concept and reasonably priced. However, it was extremely crowded on Saturday night. We were still able to play some games, but there wasn't much space at all to hang out, drink, and talk - my group of 5 was squished up against the back of a game machine. It's a relatively small space. It's a fun activity for a very small group or a date, but I'd come back on a weeknight.
Came here after dinner on Tenderloin around 8:30 pm on a Friday, and it's pretty quiet as it's still early in the evening.I got the War Bonnet, which was pretty tasty as usual. Always enjoy the drinks and vibe here, and would definitely make a stop whenever we are in the neighborhood.
Note that there is no sign on door so can be tricky to find if you aren't looking carefully - there is just a small umbrella icon over front door. I didn't get a chance to eat here so can't comment on the food, but they were out of most beers (none in bottles and limited selection on tap to begin with so shortage left only 3 options from which to chose). The space was also busy (on a Wednesday evening) and small with tables super close together. Friendly servers and nice decor -- just not ideal for someone on the more claustrophobic side or someone who gets distracted by conversations at nearby tables...or someone that loves beer :)
Possibly one of my favorite bars in LA. Clever cocktails, always some kind of drink special and great ambiance. Also they turn into "Miracle on Melrose" a Christmas theme bar for the holidays. Also clean bathrooms and great service.
Great cocktails. Try their home made fireball, delicious when over the rocks. Umbrella Co. is one of my top spots in LA. Perfect casual bar atmosphere, awesome place for groups to meet up or if you just want to grab a beer or cocktail at the bar. It's small, and comfortable, with a NY vibe. Serves food.
A great place to relax and friends for drinks. There is a fabulous covered patio for smoking, which is quaint. Drinks were great, and barmen nice / cool.
Melrose Umbrella Co. is the newest sponsor of World Dodgeball Society's Melrose B league (Sundays). After 4pm, find a group of sweaty and sporty gals and guys here playing social games, eating their delicious grilled cheese (with tomato soup) or drinking one of their fine cocktail creations.
Order an old fashion - they'll lightly burn the orange peel and ring the cup so you get the perfect taste of a classic drink.
I can see why this place is highly rated. I wasn't sure what to expect based on the funky clown/carnival sounding name but all I knew was that I wanted to watch the Cavs vs. Celtics game and have a couple drinks and some bites. Turns out it was a great choice and I'll definitely be back again!
If you re looking for a casual but sexy hang out with top notch drinks, this is the place. The interior of the historic building is breathtaking and the quality of the cocktails matches. The bartenders were wonderful hosts and took great care in handcrafting each delicious concoction. We were planning on only having 1 drink but ended up staying for 3 or 4 rounds. This is great atmosphere to come and hang for a while.
The cocktails are fantastic! The menu is extensive, and there is a wide variety in the tiki-themed drinks. I've come several times, and each time I try to get a different drink. So far, none of the cocktails has disappointed!

Had fun celebrating my birthday here a while back. Everyone loved the food . I also think it s a great place to get some work done during the day. They have good coffee and free WiFi.
Fantastic spot for an intimate dinner: the details are curated, staff attentive and ambient comfortable. The food isn't jaw-dropping, however it is definitely worth a try as it explores interesting takes on Mediterranean cuisine. The manager was extremely nice to us, and offered complementary dishes after an accident in the bathroom. Oh and there's a foosball table in the waiting lounge!
Service was really nice and attentive. Had two drinks, one was a miss and the other a hit. My pork tacos was nothing to write home about but my husband's burger was delicious! Foie gras stuffed olives are creative. I'd come back.
Review in regards to the Twin Peaks Roadhouse Exp. A cool time, not really a true "Roadhouse" so fans can have varying feelings on authenticity - if not a stickler for true Twin Peaks representation, you'll have a great time. Good time for fans who are hardcore. It is a slapdash of the Black Lodge, the Roadhouse and other ambiances that are generically associated with the show.
Crappiest thing was pricing. Seriously overpriced cocktail & food (even if creatively themed for a Twin Peaks fashion). Pair that food/drinks alongside a forced 18% gratuity and you've got a meh time. Reservation process was easy online. Merch was exorbitantly priced and generically made.
Did it once, probably won't do it again. Not unless they buckle down and commit to a recreation that is accurate and not just a slapdash of all things characteristically Twin Peaks.
Out of all the cocktail bars I visited for the weekend in LA, Melrose Umbrella is the best. Here's why:
1) Drinks: They have a HUGE list of craft cocktails (not to mention beer, wine, cider, etc) from the classics to house cocktails. I ordered two drinks- the house daiquiri and the Melrose mule. Both were sweet, but not over powering and well balanced.
2) Service: We had the best bartender in the industry. She was friendly and even brought us shots!
3) Atmosphere: It's in a fun part of town (Fairfax on Melrose Ave) and the inside is magical. It looks like a building from Harry Potter. The history described in the menu explains the reason why it feels like a magical English pub.
If you love a good craft cocktail, head to Melrose Umbrella.
