Ruud van de Wiel Review of Viceroy Hotel Palm Springs

We stayed at the Avalon for three nights during Christmas. The hotel is very nicely located, less than a five minute walk away from Palm Canyon Drive (where all the restaurants and shops are). It's in a quiet area though, so you won't be bothered by noisy bar-goers. The staff was very welcoming and professional. Valet parking is included in the resort fee, which was very convenient. The resort is small-scale, but very pretty. The only reason to rate of four rather than five out of five is the fact that the room had a few things that need improving. A few examples; there was a huge crack in the mirror, because they screwed a light fixture on it. The bathroom sink was quite outdated, and the shelves were not straight. The blinds did not darken the room very well and the front door also wasn't sealed properly, letting in light (and it made me wonder what that means heat-wise in summer). The TV was probably ten years old, and too small. If those things would be updated/fixed (which doesn't seem that hard) I would certainly stay there again. One other thing I want to highlight is that the hotel is very dog-friendly. We had our black lab with us, and the were very welcoming to both, which we appreciated a lot.
