If you're looking to do animation be it on paper or digital, this place is for you. Animation program is intense and fast paced but the experience you'll gain is immense, which will significantly boost your skills. In addition, the faculty is very experienced, knowledgeable (industry wise) and are always willing to help.

I graduated from Programming for Games, Web and Mobile in 2015. It is a very good school, I learned a lot and all the teachers and mentors helped to get a job in the game industry as a Gameplay Programmer here in Vancouver. Sadly I can't deny it is very expensive and, most important, if you are outside Canada, you cannot apply for a Post Grad Work Permit with the diploma.
Taking the Acting Essentials program. So far, so great. It s awesome to be led by people who are, to this day, still active in the industry. Everyone is also extremely supportive.
A very Intense program that guides the student through various facets of the industry. Foundation was a great experience and Game Design is even better.
Although I haven't finished the program yet, I'm surely enjoying it so far. I think the curriculum is well structured and definitely helps preparing you for the real job in the industry. The instructors have a lot of experiences which is a huge plus for me.
I started in Oct 2018 for game design. I had NO idea what Maya was, or anything game design related, but nearing the end of my year at Game Design in VFS, I know more than i ever could have imagined. This school is great, it teaches you very well and there's always someone there to help you!
I could not have gotten to where I am in the industry without the knowledge and support from Vancouver Film School's Game Design Program. I'd recommend it to anyone who is serious about becoming part of the industry. The program is tough and for good reason, because it creates the best possible graduates. I've worked with graduates of many other schools and none of them have produced the quality of students than I've seen from VFS.
Vancouver Film School is amazing. High quality programs, with top-notch computers and, most importantly, incredible teachers that are always available to answer our questions and give us feedback. The Foundations program is a great start for anyone who wishes to get a career in the field of visual arts, giving the students experience on various areas, from film to design to animation. Even if you have a clear choice on which area you're going, having knowledge on these other fields is essential. As an international student, I was very worried about studying abroad, but now, after finishing a 1 year Foundations program, and starting the 3D program, I can safely say that going to VFS was life-changing.
I came to VFS out of university and I couldnt be more thankful I chose this path to follow my dreams. I am in the Acting 1 year program, which is 12 months full time. The school is unique in the way that it teaches, giving students a schedule such as the industry is. Not only do we focus on being natural in front of camera, but also how to be crew, be the best you, and how to network (which is the most important piece of this industry people miss out on).
The support and kindness the staff emulates is always humbling, and oh so amazing. I have never felt more safe and guided by a staff before. They truly care about what they do and the students in the program.
VFS brings in real work experience into the program, that will prepare a budding actor like no other. Knowing I can be on set tomorrow and know proper etiquette without a doubt is extremely helpful. You make your mistakes at VFS so you don't make them in the industry. That cannot be said enough. VFS is a place to learn, grow, become, and be confident about your work and the self you bring to it.
Make sure to work as hard as you possibly can. You only have 1 year, make the best of it!!
VFS is a really professional school, it is one of the best experiences I have ever had. I have learned a lot of new things, and I have achieved things that I never imagined I could accomplish. I feel that they are a really good educational institution, that push you to be your best.
When people ask me about my post secondary education, I'm not proud to say I went to VFS, other people in the industry know we were duped and we can't deny it and when I meet other grads we share our shame when we talk about it.
Best decision I've made is to attend VFS. It's the definition of "intense" but worth every penny, tear, and smile. Every single instructor knows their craft inside out and are truly passionate to teach and guide the student to achieving their creative projects. I'll be sad to graduate but I would recommend to anyone in a heart beat
Awesome game design program. The teachers are great and their industry experiences make a lot of difference! You can learn so much! An intense but very, VERY worth year!
It's a fantastic school with great instructors. You get what you put into it, for sure, so be ready to put in the work and you'll excel. They care about their students, their wellbeing and future. They will use all their resources to help you in and out of school, whether you want instructors to help you on your own projects or school assignments. If you need the help from student resources with whatever issue you may have outside school, that's fine too. I can really recommend this place - it's worth every penny and every minute you put into it.
The instructors have connections outside of school and experience in the business, wheter it's as writers, producers, actors or working on set. They're fantastic.
The Digital Design program was the best experience I've ever had. I say this for a lot of different reasons like. Here you learn a lot, since the basic design stuff all the way to how to work in the real world and how to approach the things we want out there. The instructors are really approachable and make the experience a lot better. You can ask them anything and they'll help you without hesitation. There's room for every kind of personality and everyone is very welcome. VFS, the Digital Design program changed my life and I will recommend it untill the end.
Having come out of a career I was very unhappy in, doing the Game Design program at Vancouver Film School was the best decision I ever made. As soon as I started, I knew I was finally doing what I was meant to do. I will forever be grateful to VFS for the opportunity to rediscover my passion and express my creativity in a safe and supportive environment. Nothing but good things to say about the school and the Game Design program.
Vancouver Film School is Canada's premier post-secondary entertainment arts institution and one of the most distinguished in the world.Voted one of the best animation schools in the world.
If you are looking for a quick intense Game Design Course VFS is the place you are looking for. I joined VFS in Jan 2018 for Game Design, although it has been 5 months if only feels like a month and I feel like I have gained an year worth of knowledge. I wouldn't lie, the course is very intense but very fun at the same time. The staff is very experienced and love to share their experiences in the industry, which makes the learning even more fun.
My experience here so far has been incredible. The instructors know everything about anything when it comes to being successful in the business. They are all working in the industry, so they have current information about the business. Every class gets me more excited for my career, and more confident in my abilities as an actor.
While incredibly intensive, Vancouver Film School managed to give me a wide variety of skills that will be immensely useful in the industry. The teachers are all extremely knowledgeable and talented as well as involved and will get back to you very quickly with any questions you may have. Do not underestimate the sheer intensity of the program however, as it is easy to fall behind if you are not focused. The hardware and software is all up to date and it is clear that Vancouver Film School aims to provide the most realistic training for working in the industry.
I have been studying at VFS Acting department for the past 13 months. I started in Acting Essentials and went straight into the one-year Acting for Film & TV program.
The faculty are working actors in Vancouver with real industry experience. They re candid, honest, and dedicated to supporting their students. These are people who have gathered wisdom through their own trials and errors and are generously sharing it with us.
The curriculum is all-encompassing, with exciting surprises at every turn. There are two two-month terms in the Essentials program and six terms in the Acting one-year program. Each term offers new focuses, with a few process classes and camera skills classes carrying through multiple terms. Everything from auditioning to combat acting to writing a monologue to preparing a promo reel are covered in the full program.
What distinguishes VFS from other schools are the opportunities to connect directly with industry professionals through networking events, cold reading series, monologue competitions, and other events. The hardworking staff send us regular emails with invitations to network, volunteer, and work on projects or at events. There are many opportunities to collaborate with other students from programs such as Film Production, Animation, and Makeup Design.
I m convinced VFS offers a one-of-a-kind education to those who are willing to put in consistent long hours of hard work. As an intensive-program institution, you can expect to throw out your previous conceptions of school and education. VFS can do the most for you when you approach it with an open mind and open heart.
This review would not be complete without mention of the people. You will create family at this school. You will share stories, cry, laugh, fight, hug, kiss and all that every single week. VFS is nothing if not a community. Because in the end, that s what art is about: coming together.
I want to warn everyone who wants to go there - their program is already OVER 10 YEARS old or even MORE. Accordingly, the majority of teachers teach the same teaching material several times in a row a year, and so it has been for 10-20 years. If you want to get outdated education here, then it is a waste of HUGE MONEY AND TIME.
Secondly, since this is a private school, you CANNOT STAY IN CANADA TO WORK (if you are an international student) after ENDING THE PROGRAM. Third, they are only interested in MONEY. I have been trying to get my refund for 5 months now, because they are very slow and do not want to return the money. Therefore, I had an unpleasant impression after studying here.
P.S. the program is difficult, but I do not leave such negative feedback because I did not cope with my studies. I closed each lesson by 85% -95%, so I know what I am saying and I want to sincerely reach out to you Wouldn't recommend!
Vancouver Film School helped me a lot in honing my skills and taught me things that I could've never learnt on my own or anywhere else. The staff there are industry professionals who strive to help students make it into the industry. I would totally recommend this school to all my friends.
VFS is a life changing experience. I have learned so much during my time here in the Acting program. It s an intense year but I would do it again in a heart beat. Not only has it made me a better actor but also a better person. The teachers are amazing, they have so much knowledge on what they teach. Even if you don t get along with a certain teacher, you can t argue that they don t know what they are talking about. The students there are amazing as well, you really do become a family with your class. If you are thinking about joining VFS, I urge you to act on your impulse! And send your application in! :)
My VFS program is probably the most challenging (and rewarding) professional pathway I was privileged to devote myself to. You learn from the leading industry pros, and work shoulder to shoulder with the industry's future leading pros.
Vancouver Film School is one of the best decisions I have made. Before coming here I really had no idea what I should do in terms of a career, however i did now that I love video games. VFS is full of highly experienced industry professionals teaching students with the latest and greatest technology available. By the end of your course you will have a fantastic launching point for what ever media industry you have chosen. It is truly an unforgettable experience!
I am currently a student at VFs in the Concept Art and Animation Program. Going to another school previously for a similar program, I can say that VFS is the best school in the Area. The Concept Art program is filled with incredible teachers, mentors, and support staff. I have gained so much knowledge, and the best part is that is it a 1 year intensive! that way you can get right into the field, learning all the current programming and engines for the field of concept art and animation.
I am in the midst of the Classical Animation course and loving every second of it. The course is intense but they make sure you know that from the very start, because of this intensity there is an amazing support structure at the school from fellow students, to teachers and councillors. It s also super cool how at home you feel when you are surrounded by other people who love the same things you do, when they say your class will be like your family it is completely true. The teachers are the best and have worked on so many films and t.v shows that have inspired me and my class mates, I still need to pinch myself sometimes. The school isn t perfect, there have been a few minor hiccups along the way but VFS is always trying to better itself by getting student feedback and I think that that shows how good the school is. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to study at VFS, it has given me the knowledge I need to pursue my dream of becoming an animator. VFS is an amazing experience and I highly recommend studying here.
Going to Digital Design program at VFS was one of the best choices that I've made in my life!!!! they have high quality education, the program was very well organized. a lot of friendly and helpful instructors!! I learned so much, and all class mates were super talented, i learned alot from them too.
About the 3D animation program. If you can handle the non-military version of boot camp that manages to be equally stressful with 99% less physical effort then this school will absolutely make a professional out of you if you let it. Be prepared for a lot of sacrifices to your sleep schedule, and to basically not have a personal life outside of your class. If you can handle the above, and you're passionate about your craft you wont regret going here.
If you're not prepared for the above, then do not enroll. It takes serious dedication to succeed in that program. Learning the basics of Maya and Photoshop before your start date would be a wise plan. I would also highly recommend speaking English at least somewhat fluently as well since there is a lot of complex instructions in lessons. Maybe buy a good umbrella and some waterproof shoes too.
An amazing experience! The teachers are supportive, positive, and invested in their students future. I am very excited to be a part of such a wonderful community.
Graduated from the GD program in 2012. Overall a really positive experience, and my experience there helped me land a job in the industry. However, the onus is definitely on YOU to make sure that happens. Work insanely hard and you will be rewarded with the amazing connections you make here.
As with most schools, some instructors are better than others. Lots of them run amazing courses and a few of them, less so.
I'd recommend the Game Design program to anyone who is really willing to work their butts off. It's a hyper-competitive industry, so you really need to stand out.
This has been an incredible experience. Made so many friends and learned so much. The teachers are great and the atmosphere is awesome. The Students, being such an international crowd, I made connections from all over the world.
I took the 3D animation & Visual effect course, and here is what i learned:
They don't actually have any teachers who have a day of teaching classes, so they don't know doing things like openly mocking students is wrong.
The teachers are all washed up animators who can't get a job anywhere else, and the moment any of them get an offer they are gone instantly, which shows how much they actually care about teaching.
You are FORCED to learn Maya, because "It's the industry Standard" yet Maya is literally the worst animation software in existence, random crashing just because it can, and then deleting your saves when it crashes. maybe it wouldn't be "the industry standard" if this school actually took the time to teach a better program, but alas we are stuck with an elitist mindset.
They also stress teaching the WRONG way to do things first, because they don't believe in teaching the right way, with the wrong way as an alternative (again, these are NOT actual teachers, just washed up animators out of a job)
Even if you are perfect in 3D, they'll fail you if you have ANY issues with hand drawing, as the believe being able to do classical 2D animation is absolutely necessary for 3D animation, and no, they aren't teaching it for the fact it's "classical" they literally believe it to be 100% essential. you do use hand art a bit for story boarding which that makes sense, but they still are forcing you to do 2D by hand
if you are having a hard time due to family/mental issues the school will happily work out a plan with you on how to get back on your feet, then literally laugh you out of the building when you agree, as there is no way in hell they'll actually be flexible, but i do seriously want to know why they gave me options if all of them but "drop out quietly" were a joke?
Just because you made it in to this school doesn't actually mean you are special. it means you are able to pay the ridiculous tuition. in the end that's all they look at, can you pay.
This school also maintains their high "Graduate employment rate" by making sure anyone who isn't perfect doesn't graduate. they won't just throw you out, but they will pretty much force you into leaving on your own accord.
On that note the class on how to deal with people was very nice, i enjoyed it.
Now I do believe I've covered everything, and i hope i helped you make an informed decision.
It's been a few years since VFS, but I honestly say that I loved the school. Sure there were definitely down moments, but the school has enabled so much for me in my life. It brought myself together with a class of friends who I'm still in good contact years later, I was taught important skills that have been useful outside of work, plus it allowed me to met people in the industry that helped me get my first job within the week of graduation!
After 2 years at a traditional university, I am infinitely more happy to have gone to VFS instead. I enjoyed the experience so much that I've thought about going back for a different course just for the great experience rather than working! Too crazy to realistically do, but if it was reasonable to do so I would.
I love that all of the instructors at VFS work in industry as well. The mentorship from the instructors is awesome and it is nice that they provide opportunities for 1:1 mentor meetings.
Vancouver flim school has been one of the most exhilarating experience I have ever had. Coming from India leaving my friends and family behind was very difficult but in return I have gained a lot coming here. VFS game design course is very intense but very rewarding at the same time. As we learn from the best in the industry it's difficult not to enjoy the process. This year is definitely something I will cherish for the rest of my life!
I'm an ACA student only in the first term but VFS has taught me so much already. The teachers are amazing and always ready to help and the students are just as nice! I recommend!
Amazing school which offers high quality education provided by professionals. The learning experience is challenging, intense but fun. I definitely recommend Programming for Games, Web & Mobile program for anyone who aims to specialize in programming area.
Vancouver Film School is truly one of a kind! The professors and the students here all share the same passion for our crafts, and that celebratory environment really pushes us to be better everyday :)
VFS is a great school that creates an amazing environment for students to work and build strong portfolios. The real strength of VFS isn't the Classes, but knowing you have a class of like minded individuals and experienced teachers to exchange knowledge with.
Before you go here, just understand that VFS programs are VERY DIFFICULT, its not unusual to spend 80+ hours a week completing assignments, be fully committed, and make sure you have the funds saved up to support yourself until the program is complete, their is no way you can work and complete a VFS Program.
Game Design Program was top notch. Conveyed the industry perfectly, was a great asset to getting both my jobs, and the experience has left me with several connections to multiple studios though my fellow graduate peers.
Overall a very positive experience. I went in knowing nothing and came out with more than I bargained for. That being said, you get out what you put in. All the resources you need are there for the taking as long as you utilize them. Help was always offered from my teachers and adviser. The teachers were a bit outdated but they still had a good understanding of what they were teaching. Without attending VFS, my chances of landing a job in animation would be slim to none.
VFS is a one of a kind experience. The teachers work in the industry as well as at the school so you get an inside on what it's like to work. It's intense but totally worth it. You get multiple on set experiences and other experiences like motion capture or green screen work. It's a life changing experience, and the people there are amazing. Both staff and students.
As a Film Production Graduate of FP168, I couldn't ask for a better Post Secondary school to go to. Here at VFS Film Program, you are accepted by everyone, no matter what your background is. You collaborate and meet with so many talented individuals like yourself that it makes people who feel introverted feel like they are part of a team. You are taught and lead by people who had prior experience working on set. You'll build connections and get the support you need in knowing the basic's of the Film Industry, even if it's not in-depth. You makes movies that are made with passion and love for the art form, while also being entertaining.
It's not a perfect program, that's for sure. If you were looking to become a director and nothing else, you're out of luck. You discover that people are as like minded as you and they will try to get the role you may want, which results in ego's clashing. I believe that this is a part of life and you are going to encounter people like that, even on a film set. A lot of people assume the Tuition is a lot and feel like a waste, and while it may seem steep, it's nowhere compared to other 4 year programs. It's hard to get lost in all the programs and it may be overwhelming at times, but you are guaranteed to have the support necessary to continue and keep trying. Just because you didn't make a film in school, doesn't mean you should stop trying. The only way to be a part more is to sell yourself and get out, and that's what the school taught a quiet person like me.
If anything, VFS taught me to keep going forward with something I love to do and that even if I don't succeed, I can continue to try.
Awesome school, molding aspiring young people to be the best they can be and guiding them through the choices best for them in the television, film industry. Nice that they don't sugar coat it for you, but keep it real.
ok, vfs was my dream and when i came to see it some years ago i knew it was a place where i need to be. i enter to the Design program on august and im really happy. although any school will be perfect and there are somethings that can get better, teachers are really nice and the people here is the best. im happy and i have learn a lot.
Absolutely loved my experience and education I received at Vancouver Film School. I got my diploma in Film Production and it is a program that you get what you put into it. I specialized in Producing / Post Production and got every opportunity, great mentorship and accomplished everything I wanted/needed. The staff are incredible , they support Alumni / Alumni projects very well, the name is respected and the name is respected. At the end of the day you are paying for your connections and that helps a lot in an industry that it's not what you know but who you know!
The class scheduling is awful with 2 to 4 hours gap in between classes. There are days where the schedule starts at 9am and last class is 9pm. Upon signing we were told there would be no homework due to the course intensity. I probably wouldnt have signed up with this school if i was told of the time gaps between classes.
VFS is a great film school! I took the Writing for Film and Television program, which was an amazing year. You definitely get out of it what you put into it. The year can be intense, if you care about it. The biggest strength though, are the teachers who are all amazing and industry professionals. Another big advantage of VFS is undoubtedly its focus on getting you in the industry, there's a number of courses specifically designed on pitching or launching your career.
I finished the acting essentials program and I felt like that program was the best thing I could have done to start my acting studies. Now I am in the term 2 of the one year program and I'm very happy with my decision
VFS has one of the best Game Design programs in the world. Their program is very well rounded and they really make an effort to help student find where their passion lies within the gaming industry. I came into this program with zero knowledge of 3D software and now I am walking away as a 3D environment artist. I would recommend this school to anyone interested in the gaming industry as they are your fastest route into the gaming world.
A great school to learn your craft all the instructors are really approchable, I consider myself as an introvert an anti social. to some extent but i had the greatest time in VFS Even though i was an INTERNATIONAL STUDENT it felt like home
I am currently a student in the game design program. My experience has been outstanding so far! I feel like my creativity is constantly challenged which in turn make me grow and me better each day!
I need structure and it's difficult for me to start self learning so having a school show me exactly where I need to look is truly helpful. No school guarantees employment, but I feel like I'm being equipped properly to pursue a job in the future.
Studying screenwriting at VFS has been an incredible journey. I've made some amazing friends over the year and written some fantastic stories ( and then rewritten them multiple times.) The important thing is, I was able to hone my craft of storytelling at VFS, thanks to some amazing guidance from my instructors and my peers. The instructors here are extremely professional with tons of experience, who, along with improving your craft, also give you valuable insights into the Hollywood Industry. There is no hierarchy at VFS. You can walk up to anyone and ask them any question you have on your mind. Just lovely and amazing people. If you want to improve your skills as a storyteller, I would definitely recommend the Screenwriting course here at VFS. It doesn't matter which part of the world you're from. A penguin, you say? Apply! And then you can go back and tell your penguin friends fascinating and fabulously structured stories about the unbearable heat that you had to bear in rainy Vancouver! If you're just excepting to get employment as a world famous screenwriter after finishing this course, I wish you the very best of luck, but remember, without your commitment to craft, even the universe won't we able to help you. However, if you do put in the effort, I assure you that you will have a bright future ahead of you and an amazing experience just like me. .
tldr: I had good instructors, and a good time in the Game Design program, although it is quite expensive. I got an entry level job within 6 months of graduating.
I was in the Game Design program through VFS: the campus is located at 88 E Pender Street in Vancouver.
I had a good experience with the 1 year diploma program: the instructors I had were generally very good, and offered a lot of concrete 'real world' advice that might be lacking in a more academic University setting. You MUST be willing to work your butt off. I graduated with honours, but only saw my wife about 20 minutes every day for several months. It is not for the faint of heart. You get out of it what you put in!
The only major gripe I have with the program is the price, which is quite steep at around $34,000 for Canadian residents.
However, one of the major perks is that the school makes an effort to put you in contact with working industry professionals, which can expedite the process of getting a job. Don't confuse this with the idea that you will get a job on their "Industry Night" at the end of the program: expect to spend a few months looking for work after the program, but you'll be armed with more practical knowledge and 'how to get a job' advice that other places might give you.
If you are passionate about what you do and you're prepared to work hard, VFS is the place. I absolutely love it here, and I've learned so much information in such a short period of time. In addition to having some really great instructors, you're also surrounded by students like yourself who are as passionate about the things you love - and that is such a wonderful feeling and opens up so many opportunities to connect and collaborate!
It's hard to focus in class and sometimes when I ask a question the teacher just responds with "I just explained that" or "I explained that weeks ago". It's basically my fault because I just assumed that 3D animation and VFX would be really similar to 2D animation. I should have done more research before coming here. The building is clean and the people are mostly nice. If you plan on coming here I recommend you try 3D animation, modeling in maya, and VFX in nuke for a month BEFORE you sign up. Trust me, it'll make your life A LOT easier.
You can tell how much the instructors know about the industry and always have time to share their knowledge with you. All of the staff makes the school such an enjoyable place to be. Your days here will undoubtedly be crazy busy with work, but you get what you give and there are so many resources that help ensure your success.
Very intensive and exhaustive, but very good! I have been studying here for a few weeks in the ACA course, and the progress is already clear as day! Would recommend, especially if you are not afraid of spending long hours working on assignments.
Digital Design courses are taught by knowledgeable instructors who have either been in the industry for a really long time or are currently in the industry. You are always challenged to continue learning and to develop your creative thinking skills. I had a memorable experience in the Digital Design program.
I ve been at VFS since august 2017 and I don t know anywhere where I feel like I belong like I do here. The teachers push you to work as hard as you can and the students are like family! I completely recommend this school!
My experience at VFS has been amazing, great teachers, over the top quality and content, great peeps and now co-workers in the industry, by far the best decision I've taken at the best Game Design School.
I'm half way through the "Writing for Film, TV and Games" program. As a production manager in Brazil I wanted to invest more time in my own ideas and for that to work I needed to master the craft of writing. VFS gave to me way more than I expected! It's a huge load of work but it's worth it. After only 3 months I felt I had never written so much in my life, and now after 7 months I feel secure enough to introduce myself as a screenwriter and apply for any job I want. Can't even imagine the next 5 months until the end of the program. It's just amazing.
Great learning experience! I am going through the program right now and I have learned so much in such little time. Would recommend if you have the money and no major commitments in your life
I m taking the Game Design program and they provide all the tools that are used in the gaming industry. This program is very intensive but it s definitely worth it at the end
The writing program at VFS is fantastic! I enrolled in January 18' and am really satisfied with the progress I have made so far. The program offers a variety of courses led by writers currently working in the American and Canadian film industry. As a director, I couldn't have asked for more insight in screenwriting.
I m a soon to be graduate from Vancouver Film School s One Year Acting for TV and Film program. My year has been the best and most amazing time of my life and the things I ve learned to get me closer to my dream can never be replaced. The teachers truly care about what you learn and your experience within and once outside of school. I cannot gush enough about this program and the people involved with it. I love VFS!!
I'm at the end of the Animation Concept Art course and it is pretty intense! I appreciate this school a lot, even in hard times they grab the students and say "hang in there, you can do it", the staff and the professors were all really great people with a lot of knowledge to share, I wouldn't exchange this opportunity by nothing!
Currently I am a Game Design student just about to finish my first term here and I can say that I am very satisfied with the course. The instructors are professional but understanding and definitely care about their students. Challenging and practical assignments are always right around the corner but they are all doable.
The environment is great and everybody here is friendly. Definitely recommend to anyone interested in Game Design.
Best place to get into track fast paced, doesnt matter how much you know or you dont know anything. Fun with all the best peronals you get from the industry so far!
Vfs really frking helped me shape my way for a better work life understanding taught me what all i needed to learn and helped me come up with a great show reel.
Doing the writing program at VFS has been so fun and such a great learning experience. With a variety of topics covered and class formats (workshop/lecture/one-on-ones) the program has been so helpful in improving my writing. Also, all the movie recommendations you get make you the coolest person to talk to at all the parties. Win win.
When you read other reviews that say the Game Design course is intense. Believe them! It's very intense, but not unmanageable. It's very rewarding seeing the work you've done throughout the course and how fast you were able to make everything. The teachers are amazing! Every teacher works or has worked in the industry, so you're not only learning the designated course load, you're also getting information on what it's like in the industry.
The VFS acting program has been incredibly eye-opening. The instructors are all incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about their art, and I've learned far more from hands-on work in acting at this school than in 2 years at a theatre university. It's been an incredible experience so far and I'm so excited to continue!
I started at VFS just a few weeks ago and I m already in love with the school. I was nervous for the first few months leading up to when I started (moving across the country to go to school will always be scary),but as soon as I got to orientation I felt really welcomed. A couple weeks in I ve made so many great friends with similar passions and aspirations. Every class I find myself learning new things from the very talented staff who are equipped with all the knowledge I ve been wanting to know for years. I m in the Animation Concept Art program and I feel like going to school here is the best decision I could have made for my career.
The 3D animation program is really intense but I can't believe how much I have learnt in just 1 year. The teachers have experience in the industry so they will help you a lot! It is an incredible place to study
