Superb museum. Located in the center, you can incorporate his visit with that of the city of Delft. The Vermeer Center is very didactic and valuable in detail. You will learn more about the man, the painter, his method of painting, ... but also about his mentors, people who have marked his life and his death. A very excellent mention on the explanations of his play of light and the place of love in his work. The very dynamic and lively explanations are transmitted via an audioguide for free. Obviously available in French.
To try absolutely.

And very interesting for those who are passionate about art. It is not a museum, but gives the painter's home that has been transformed into a cultural center with many of his life and work. There you will find copies of all his works organized in chronological order and with audioguy telling secrets of his paintings. Delft is a beautiful little town. On Saturdays there is a very lively flea market on the streets.

Fascinating museum (3 floors - visit of 2 hours soon) with an explanation of the life, work and techniques of the painter Vermeer, with copies of all his (few) paintings; although at least one original work in his own city / museum would have liked ...

There are no original works by Vermeer, but that was known. The exhibition is interesting for those who want to gain more insight into his painting techniques. You see, for example, that Vermeer often painted the same thing, but in a different way. Or with a different attitude. Very clever. Certainly for a 17th century painter, without an extensive studio.

The visit to the center must be started in the basement by watching a movie about Delft and all his paintings, which are photocopied in a real size. Afterwards you can learn about the production of pigments, perspective and light in his oeuvre. As a Vermeers fan, I spent 3 hours in the center, but for non-fans it's probably enough to hallow 1 hour here. Mandatory to Vermeers fans.

A very nice exhibition with all Vermeer reproductions in actual size. There is also a continuous film of 6 minutes in which information is given about his life / work. The exhibition is also interactive. All works are on the ground floor. On the first floor (elevator available) there is an explanation of how Vermeer used all types of light. You also see pigments, brushes, paint that he used. And carries a film about the restoration of one of his works. In short, educational and fascinating.

Very cool museum exploring the timeline of vermeer's works and the city lived in. While none of the paintings were original, it was still nice to see the completeness of his work and the prints were detailed enough to help you appreciate his skill.
It helped that we watched Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003), which is highly fictionalized but also well done and gives some interesting historical context.

It offers a nice insight into Vermeer and his method. But it is not as interesting as making people believe at first sight. The replicas of the works are beautiful in themselves, but they are of course replicas

I loved visiting this place. It was a great way to learn more about the wonderful artist and his time. Seeing reproductions of all his known works displayed in chronological order amongst other exhibits that provided historical context was a great way to start our visit to Delft.

Great little museum about Vermeer, the dutch painter that lived in Delft.
Visit takes around 1/2hours.
Shop is very nice and has a lot of stuff, also a cafe.
Downstairs they have a permanent exposition on the guy, painting, history...
Upstairs there is a 'technical' exposition on vermeer techniques. This is what really makes the visit worth it!

Only reproductions of Vermeer but the museum is very interesting on the techniques used by the painter including the work of light and perspectives as well as painters from which he was inspired.
In short the museum is worth visiting to understand the painting of Veermer.

If you want to be fined, you should mainly come to Delft by car. Here are several zones that will give you high fines if you already drive by car. Bag fillers all! And parking nearby is therefore dramatic. One of the reasons I never come here again. The parking is dredging.

Very interesting overview of the work of Johannes Vermeer. Copies of his paintings paint a picture of his oeuvre and his great talents in portraying people and situations. His goal with light and reflections really stands out because of this and the non-connoisseur is also fascinated by the great craftsmanship. All the world-famous paintings by him are so recognizable to everyone that it is striking that he has produced relatively few paintings, but that there are so many top pieces in between. Really worth a visit and an encouragement to view the originals too!

It's awesome how the creators managed to create a presentation of a major Dutch artist without a single original. Particularly fascinating are the explanations to Vermeer's use of light and the history of restoration.

Detailed dip in the history of Vermeer but unfortunately there are no works but only the detailed description of his works and his artistic path explains very well his painting techniques. Recommended only for fans but before visiting the many Dutch museums with its Works.

About Vermeer Centrum Delft

Vermeer Centrum Delft: A Journey Through the Life of Johannes Vermeer

Vermeer Centrum Delft is a museum located in the heart of Delft, Netherlands. The museum is dedicated to the life and works of Johannes Vermeer, one of the most celebrated Dutch painters of all time. The museum offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore Vermeer's life and art through interactive exhibits, multimedia presentations, and guided tours.

The museum was established in 2008 with the aim of promoting Vermeer's legacy and preserving his works for future generations. Since then, it has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Delft, attracting thousands of visitors every year from all over the world.

One of the main highlights at Vermeer Centrum Delft is its collection of reproductions that showcase some of Vermeer's most famous paintings such as "Girl with a Pearl Earring," "The Milkmaid," and "View on Delft." These reproductions are created using advanced technology that allows visitors to see every detail up close as if they were standing right in front of an original painting.

In addition to these reproductions, there are also several original artworks on display at the museum that provide insight into Vermeer's artistic process. Visitors can see how he used light and shadow to create depth in his paintings or how he experimented with different color palettes to achieve certain effects.

Another fascinating aspect about this museum is its interactive exhibits which allow visitors to experience what it was like living during Vermeer's time period. For example, there is an exhibit where you can try on traditional Dutch clothing from the 17th century or learn about how people cooked their meals back then.

For those who want a more immersive experience, there are guided tours available that take you through various parts of Delft where you can see some real-life locations that inspired many aspects within his paintings. You'll get insights into what life was like during this period while also learning more about Johannes himself!

Overall, visiting Vermeer Centrum Delft is an unforgettable experience for anyone interested in art history or just looking for something unique while exploring Holland! With its impressive collection and interactive exhibits designed for all ages - it truly offers something special!
