Vena's Fizz House Review

Super fun place, but a little pricey. But super fun. I mean like crazy fun. For the whole family.

Sat at the bar. It was mesmerizing to watch the bar tender expertly make such complex drinks. I had the Dark & Crimson and it was delightful! The smokey drinks are definitely a bit too smokey for my taste.

Fun place, nice staff. Loved the Lumber Sexual. Imaginative drinks if you like a good bitter. Good mixology supplies.

Super cool place, very funky, the owner is personable, friendly, and clearly loves what he does. The drinks are creative and fun. Great spot to stop for a drink if you're in town.

Eclectic energy. Head bartender rocks the house. Had a couple gin specialties - tangerine sunset and rose infused. Tangerine was scrumptious. Lots of non alcoholic options with shrub.

Good experience. The service was nice. The mixologist was friendly and made a variety of drinks based on my particular taste. Each time it was spot on. Downside a bit expensive but it is downtown so what else do you expect. Fun for a group.

A little hokey touristy, but lots of fun anyhow. And you can get a mocktail for adults that won't insult your taste buds.

I am obsessed with this place. Johanna, Steve, and Mary Jo are some of my favorite people and you can taste the love and the passion that is put into every cocktail. If you don't drink and want a mocktail, there is no better place than Vena's Fizz House. Go check it out! Cool vibe, cool people, amazing drinks.

From the description I thought you made your own drinks. I was wrong, but I did try an orange creme soda and it was good but expensive.

One of a kind. Lumber sexual is the best cocktail I've ever had.

Cocktails were great and served pretty promptly. The prominence of non-alcoholic options was very welcome too! I especially liked the very unique pine syrup used in the Lumbersexual. Their shop near the entrance was very well stock with common and not so easy to find bitters, which was great.

But, our spirits were dampened as we were rushed out by our server before everyone in our group had even finished their drinks. This was especially off-putting considering there weren't people waiting for tables or anything (and the table next to us was empty)! Soured what was otherwise a great experience.

These cocktails! When you have dozens of homemade bitters in stock, you know you can't go wrong. This must be the best place to get a drink in Portland before dinner. Truly anything you heart desires!

Amazingly friendly staff, it was our fist time and the bartender Andy was so fun and knowledgable and talented, he even have an amazing vegan dinner recommendation! 100% recommend and we can't wait to come back!

Fun, very eclectic soda shop that also serves alcohol. Come in to rest your feet after waking all around Portland. It's a quiet and small bar that you can also shop in for premade cocktail mixers.

This is hands down my favorite place in Portland for a drink, snack, or refreshing pick-me-up. The cocktails are a wonder of mixology. They have plenty of old-timey soda options if you have younger folks or nondrinkers in your party who still want to feel like they're having a nice treat. Also, BLACK TRUFFLE SALT POPCORN.

There's nowhere else like this in the area. Vena's has an array of creative and unique options for non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages alike.

Loved this place! Both alcoholic and non with interesting ingredients including many types of bitters, phosphates and shrubs. It's a little retro-y hipster but in a fun way. Menu is categorized by flavor profile. Staff was super knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. We each ordered two drinks - my second was suggested by the bartender and included a beet shrub component which was surprisingly delicious. Not many seats but there are places to roost and 2 small bistro tables out front. If you try something you like, ask for the recipe - the small store sells almost everything you'd need (other than the actual alcohol), including vintage bar sets, a variety of bitters and alcohol infusion "kits". Well worth your time, even with non-drinkers. Only food seems to be truffle popcorn so don't come hungry. Looking forward to coming back and trying something new.

Cozy atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and they have handcrafted cocktails. If you like their infusion drinks, ask for an infusion kit, you can take it home or gift it to someone and you can modify it with any kind of alcohol you choose. If you don't drink alcohol that's fine too because they offer infused drinks that are delicious for all ages and if you're looking for a healthy boost they offer an apple cider vinegar and honey tonic called Fire Cider. I highly recommend this place if you're by yourself, with friends, or with family!

This is a definite stop on the Portland cocktail tour. The things they manage to create here are nothing short of magical. There's a reason they have a shop inside. You'll want to try to make some of their drinks at home. Their prices are amazing. Their pours are incredible. Everything about this place from the service to the bartender is first class.

A quirky cocktail bar with a historic flair.

Located on the outskirts of the Old Port district here in Portland, Maine - Vena's is a very unassuming little building. Inside, there is a shop for buying vintage cocktail materials and a seating area complete with bar for enjoying the many beverages on the Fizz House menu.

The drinks vary from the non-alcoholic variety (for the whole family) to the alcoholic. My favorite drink there is called the Hemingway Frappe, which consists of absinthe (made by Tree Spirits here in Maine), mint, and simple syrup. However, the fact that you can get colonial-era cremes and phosphates is a really neat aspect of this establishment you won't experience anywhere else.

The seating is very limited, however, and if you're looking for parking in the area you are going to be out of luck much of the time. Still, if you can come in and experience what Vena's has to offer, I doubt you'll be disappointed. Would recommend to anyone.

I've been going back for three years and counting. They make my favorite cocktails. The best places to visit are the places where people love their craft; you won't be disappointed.

Been on my list for a while. Was in Portland so drove near and was lucky enough to find parking in reasonable walking distance. They were very nice to a newbie non-drinker and suggested a tasty mocktail. It was packed as holiday season, and isn'the a large place to start with.

Had a great time at Vena's Fizz House! They are true mixologists! A pleasant, small, cozy, barroom, and in Portland's historic Old Port!

Down for a visit from New Brunswick, Canada and popped into Vena's on a whim. We couldn't have made a better choice for a place to grab a cocktail! Friendly, hardhworking, ard super knowledgeable/educated staff. Not to mention the drinks were out of this world. I look forward to going back, without any doubt!

One of the most incredible bars I've ever visited. They have AMAZING drinks, made with care and creativity. They really showcase what's possible with the addition of bitters to drinks! They are also happy to share any of their drink recipes, and sell an insane variety of bitters on site.

I love love love this place! Awesome cocktails at the bar in the back. Endless selection of intriguing bitters, shrubs (what?), and phosphates (huh?) at the shop in the front. Also meet the owner who was super friendly. We always make a midday stop here whenever we come to Portland.

Go there at least once! Elder flower vodka Collins is amazing.

Vena's Fizz House is a lovely place that can appeal to everyone! They have mocktails for the non drinkers, sodas for the kids, and fabulous craft cocktails for the ones who love a boozy libation or two. It also doubles as a shop where you can purchase all sorts of bitters and other items essential to your bar at home!

Great drinks! I had the Shipwreck and my wife had the Pineapple Strawberry mojito and both really enjoy it. Hosts were extremely nice as well

An essential Portland stop. So much so we ended up here twice. The bartender, Warren, was a gem and mixed us up some off the menu cocktails. Highly recommend. Lengthy mocktail menu as well!
