Dr. Gokhale was very nice, and attentive with our dog. He explained the possible outcomes before doing the procedure, and called me a few days later to see how she was doing. They were transparent and reasonable with pricing.

Going to a specialty vet is often scary and stressful. Afterall, you're there because your furry loved one isn't well. The staff, from the front desk, to the vets, to the back of the house team, really works to take great care of your pet and set your mind at ease. I was very appreciative and impressed at how they handled my dog and how well they explained what was going on.
They were kind but was slightly frustrated that they kept helping other people that came in way after me so sad there for 3 hours even though when I walked in it had states a 2 hour wait.
My pup was transferred into the facility from another. I am quite disappointed with how everything has been delt with. I waited 9 hours outside for an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed masses. I authorized a biopsy to see if it was cancer and what kind. I was told it would take 3 to 5 days for results. I called on day 7 to see what was going on. The results came back with no answers because there not enough cells in the samples taken. So now I am at home with a sick pup. I've spend 2600.00 and still have no answered.
If I could give a zero* I would have, very condescending representatives who seem more interested in showing how educated they are, but after just a few minutes of discussion, It was apparent that they truly didn't have a clue (Dave) or truly don't want to deal with tough hard questions (Cammie), instead they call you insane and to go to a specialist (after I was willing to show up to have my pup looked at (I asked for a quote 400 to 600$, which I was willing to pay, but then she said, she wouldn't accept us as clients.). . I recorded the entire discussion and will be bringing it to the attention of "Emergency Hospital Center of Seattle Ownership" as well as every Banfield Pet hospital in the general area to request that Banfield drops this Client due to sheer rudeness, snarkiness, condescending attitude of (Cammie) and general lack of knowledge.
Our family is very pleased with the care our dog Loki received over a five month period. Loki was in extreme pain due to a genetic disease and the staff are very professional and truly care. A big thanks to Dr. Sarah M Schmid and her team.
Visiting this facility was totally devastating experience. It took them 4 hours and $500 just to tell me that my pet had some major fractures after a dog attack which was the reason I visited them. After 4 hours they told me that they are unable to do anything because they don t have enough information. It took them 4 hours,2 xrays and 1 body examination to tell that they actually don t know what is happening. Totally worthless place and all do they care about how much you can pay to keep your pet with them. Not a suggested place if you want ones to care about your pet.
We brought our beloved cat in last night. He s been in kidney failure and having trouble with his heart for at least ten months, and we knew well what the visit might mean. We brought him to see if there was anything we could do to make him comfortable. The vet was incredibly pushy about hospitalizing him and kept suggesting putting together estimates for weeklong stays when we were trying to ask questions about his condition and expected quality of life. While I understand that in an ideal world we would be able to do everything to save our sweet boy, in reality we don t have thousands of dollars for scans and repeat blood work and therapy for the potential cancer we were told about last night. On top of that, we knew that our buddy would not do well away from my husband, who was his best friend and constant companion. When we expressed this to the vet, she made a face and told us she would have to make us sign an against medical advice form to take him with us. I had to actually spell out to her that the kindest thing we could do would be to let him go.
We felt very much that this hospital did not have the best interest of our cat in mind. Yes, putting him through all that might have bought him some time, but it also could have feasibly made him suffer past an acceptable humane point. Further, as we were sitting in an incredibly uncomfortable room waiting literal hours for and discussing one of the hardest choices we have ever had to make, we could hear staff joking and laughing and referring flippantly to procedures through the wall.
I would really suggest this hospital consider a bit more sensitivity training and soundproofing.
High time I wrote a review, because it has been over a year since Dr. Alix Partnow and the wonderful, caring staff at VCA gave my dog her life back. My dog ruptured a disk and had it surgically repaired, then ruptured it a second time before she had fully recovered.
Dr. Partnow is an amazing veterinarian and beyond that she is calm, compassionate, professional, personable and an excellent communicator. Everyone else at VCA, from the people at the front desk to the vet techs did a fantastic job caring for my dog and for one very frightened, stressed-out dog owner. They were all so gentle, kind and affectionate towards my dog (who spent several days in their hospital) that she clearly "bonded" with everyone there (I could tell that when I took her home). For me, they were the perfect combination of professional, so that I had confidence in their ability to help my dog, and sweet/supportive with me.
Dr. Partnow called me every day to update me on my dog's progress, and they were totally and instantly responsive when I called them with questions.
I thought the charges were reasonable and they were so scrupulously honest, that when the total charges were less than my deposit, they immediately gave me a credit.
I can't imagine a better veterinary hospital. I highly recommend VCA, and Dr. Partnow in particular for neurology.
Our experience here was exceptional. We were given the best care, very attentive to our needs and feelings. We came under duress, and they were professional and caring. The facility was clean. Our room was amazing, very comfortable, with a couch, chair, nice rug. They let us bring in our other dogs as well. Would highly recommend to all.
I am writing this review with a heavy heart and it is not easy to type these lines but I can tell you that if you need a place to take your best friend in case of an emergency and you need a specialist then this is a place to go. It is worth the drive. Sadly, we had an emergency, my dog lost all the functions in his hind legs. Our vet suggested to take him here and they sent all the information to them to make sure they have all before we arrive. We were greeted with a very friendly and compassionate staff who took him in immediately, made us comfortable during the wait. They did the best they could, explained everything to us, give detailed explanation, survival rate, and all the possible options. They helped us to go through the hardest decision we ever had to make due to the outlook. We never felt pressured at all. We got all the time we needed with my dog and made as comfortable as possible during this hard part of our lives. Dr Angelette is wonderful, and we could not ask for a better vet at all. He is very compassionate, carrying, and supportive. He provided the best possible care under the circumstance. The facility is great, the room is very nice and comforting where you can say your final goodbye to your beloved pet and their care and support did not stop there. It was a great and heartwarming surprised when we received their wonderful card in the mail. I highly recommend Dr. Angelette and Veterinary Specialty Center in Lynwood and thank you again for all the great help and support you provided during this very difficult time!
Incredibly rude vet, overcharged me for almost nothing, and basically let my animal almost die over something that could have easily been prevented with the right medication and failed to give me the actual stats on her tests. All they want is your money. Do not come here and i wouldn't even suggest to if it was an emergency, 0 stars. My lawyer stated i probably won't win if i take them to court because they have better back up. This was an awful experience. I don't know how this person lives with himself.
These people listed a found cat on craigslist. They wouldn't show a picture or list details other than type and color. We thought it may be our missing baby and called and sent pictures. They confirmed he could be our babe so with full hope in our hearts we went to their location only to be shown a dead frozen cat that really didn't look like ours. They never disclosed this cat was deceased and just wanted money from someone. This makes me sick. Shame on this company for making us believe we may get our baby back.
Yes, the prices are astronomical BUT it's open 24/7, so it's understandable. They gave me options, supported my decision fully, and helped me get my kitty through the night so that I could take him to my own vet the next day (where I was able to pay much less for the necessary surgery). I'm grateful this clinic full of intelligent, caring, and hard working people exists!
Our dog had been having diarrhea for a few days and was not eating. I took him to Pet Emergency center in Mt Vermom on Wednesday and they gave me a few options. We tried the most cost effective which was medication. He ate the next morning but did not improve much after that so we took him to his regular vet on Saturday - VCA Lynnwood. They suggested we go to an ER vet after xrays showing a blockage in his stomach so we took him here. They told us he would die if we didn't immediately get him surgery that was going to cost $8,000 - $12,000!! We could not afford that so started calling a few places, all of which gave us quotes that were LESS THAN HALF of this place, we took him back to Mt Vernon and the bill was less than $3,000. On the way out the door they said "good luck taking him somewhere else" -WTH? I'll do the 45 minute drive to Mt Vernon any time we have an emergency over going to this place.
One star is generous, which is how we felt after the 10k bill trying to save our loved one, you can't put a price on love. I guess everyone seemed to be totally professional but I feel that this hospital is more of a conglomerate type training ground for young people wanting to get experience in the field. There was much care and genuine concern and dedication we felt but mistakes can happen and that is part of learning. My fault that I did not try to help our family member sooner than later and I should have done more homework and research to find a super specialist I guess. Hind sight is twenty twenty post mortem such that I now know there are board certified independent surgeons out there to be found. Lessons learned.
We took our pug in with respiratory distress. They quickly took her in and realized she was in critical condition. They pinpointed her issues, took quick action to stabilize her, and stayed with her around the clock. They remained in constant contact with us and were very honest about her chances of surviving. They consulted us and guided us with kindness through the process. Our pug was in ICU for 4 days and remained another 2 days. Due to their expertise and care they were able to save her against the odds. We are happy to have Patti Pug still with us a year after this incident. We are so grateful to the entire staff.
My was in tears when I got home because we ve been trying to get my dog to a vet and she called in and spoke to a receptionist that was extremely rude and told her that if his symptoms were a real emergency he would be here right now . When she was just trying to get some information before bringing our dog in. Rude receptionists.
My Dachshund had to have back surgery in march of 2012 and I took her to VSC to see a nuerologist and I had a wonderful experience. The staff was kind and the Dr. was compassionate. I was seen right away and when I recieved the estimate for surgery I didn't act like a jerk because of the cost. I think that most people write bad reviews because they don't have the money to treat their animal. They also wanted to give me an alternate plan if I wasn't able to afford the surgery(which was the best option). I think that people should quit talking bad about emergency clinics if they don't have the money to treat their animals. Animals are a luxery and if you can't afford their care then don't get one!
Thank you VSC for all your help! It's been 1 year and my Dachshund is doing fantastic.
As many reviewers have said, I am very grateful for a 24-hour emergency vet in our area. But I will warn you, it is very very very very very very very expensive. If it's not a life-threatening emergency, I would wait until morning and visit your regular vet.
My cat had a blocked urinary tract on a Sunday evening. No choice but to go in, as he could have suffered kidney damage and was in a lot of pain. Immediately the staff at VCA make you answer the question, "Do you agree to emergency care? It can range from $300-$600." Uh, yeah, that's why I'm here. And oh how I wish it was only $300 to $600! I would have been thrilled with that!
They gave him pain meds, then the very nice, very young vet came in to give me an estimate of catheterizing him to try to unblock him, x-rays, then IV fluids, etc. during the night. I almost passed out when I saw the estimate: $2,600 to $3,600 for 2-3 days in the hospital, and that was WITHOUT surgery. He told me that if the stones had to be removed surgically, it would be an ADDITIONAL $3,000 to $4,000. We were now talking about $7,600 to treat my cat's urinary blockage. You are required to leave the low estimate ($2,600 in my case) to have your pet treated, so you'd better have a fat wad of cash in the bank if your pet gets sick on a weekend.
I transferred my cat the next morning to our regular vet after paying $1,250 for the night's care at VCA. Thankfully, my vet was extremely knowledgeable and first determined what kind of stones my cat had. Turns out from simple urinalysis results, my cat had struvite crystals in his urine, which can be dissolved with diet changes. No need for surgery. My cat spent three days at our regular vet to make sure he was not re-blocked. The grand total for 3 days hospitalization, IV fluids, catheter, medication, loving, compassionate care, careful consideration of all options, and prescription food: $220.
Thankfully, I didn't agree to a $7,600 unnecessary surgery for my cat, who is all better now.
If your pet is sick and you want to know what is wrong, this is the place to go. Yes it is expensive, but you get what you pay for!!!. In January, one of my cats was having a hard time breathing. His regular vet said that it was his asthma and sent him home with more inhalers. Within a few days on a Friday, he got really bad. I brought him here. Turned out that he had cancer. They referred us to Dr Muldowney. By March my cat was in remission and is doing great. A couple of weeks ago, his sister was having problems breathing. I went to the regular vet, spent over $500, and was told that it was either asthma or bronchitis. On Tuesday of this week she got REALLY bad and so we brought her here. With her, it was her laragnyx. She is home now recovering from surgery.
Everyone that I have dealt with here has always been kind, caring and professional.
When my sweet cat became suddenly and terminally ill, a friend recommended that I take him to the Veterinary Specialty Center, even though it was 13 miles from my home in Seattle. I'm so glad that I did. The staff were incredibly compassionate, even though they were obviously busy and it was the middle of the night. They explained all the options and, at every step, gave me both time and space to think and make decisions. When I told the vet that cost was a concern for me, she explained a few more options for diagnostic tests, their costs, and their efficacy compared to the *best* (broader and more expensive) testing plan that she'd first recommended. Since I was able to consider those options in the context of other things that I knew about my cat, the bill ended up being much lower than originally quoted. At every step, I felt confident that the vet and the technician were knowledgeable and skilled. They also accommodated all the friends who had come to support me. I ultimately had to let my kitty go, and I was able to do that in a comfortable room, sitting on a couch with blankets and my cat in my arms. Again, the staff explained everything and allowed me as much time and space as I needed to say goodbye. I am so sad that he's gone, but I'm glad that he was here for his final moments.
Called to ask a second opinion about my cats medicine my regular vet gave... they said I could bring him in for 120 dollars to be seen. I just had a quick question. Also I've taken other peoples pets here in emergencies and been treated cold. I didnt have to take in these pets other people were neglecting ... shouldn't feel uncomfortable doing the right thing. Also , I'm not a vet but I know business and common sense... they most deifinately tried to do every test they could all at once to rack up the bill. Beware of getting ripped off and probably denied if you cant afford a huge bill up front ... in an emergency...It's a nice facility and grateful they are always open but they should come up with an emergency credit plan and should probably treat people a little better.
I thank God for this place! my little Yorkie named Chispita got run over by a car on Thursday! Thank God she didn't died but she got really really hurt! And when I called them to let them know what had happened and I was on my way! They were so nice to me and they stay on the phone until I got there. They were waiting for me to arrive with my little Chispita . They were really kind to my her . The staff was really nice and the the doctor was very professional. They didn't took too long to let me know what was going on with Chispita .I really appreciate what they did for my Yorkie. I don't know what I've had done if I would have lost her! Thank God that he helped them to help my Chispita so I could have her again!! Chispita and I will always appreciate they were there for us! God bless there business so they can keep helping are furry little love ones!
Excellent place to take your pets. They are the ultimate professionals, caring and trustworthy. You will know exactly how much things cost as well as what your options are, with no pressure. I took my dogs here over the years for various emergencies and each time felt very satisfied.
Dont go here. I spent 8 hours today just WAITING for my puppy to get an x ray on her leg. I understand there were plenty of major emergencies today but honesty the best part of this vet was the free coffee. My fiance and i were here for almost 9 hours and didnt once see or talk to a real doctor. We payed $500 for basically just x rays and to sit in their waiting room for 8 hours. We were finally told what was wrong and got a quote for $7000 to do surgery. I called another place and they said they could do the surgery for $3000. I will never go here again
Dr Gokhale is a wonderful vet. He is gentle with my foster pup, very though and provides me with all the information needed to understand her condition. There are internal medicine vets closer but we choose to travel to Lynnwood for her to be treated by Dr Gokhale. Highly recommend him and VSC.
Good communication about wait time and process from front desk. Facility nicer than most human care facilities. Techs were very compassionate towards my Schnauzer, Swoops. Dr. Kendall laid out all of the options for Swoops and partnered with me to decide. I would definitely go back if needed and would recommend.
Pet emergencies are scary but bringing our beloved pup here was the best thing. It did not have a happy ending but their care and compassion helped us with a very difficult decision. So respectful and accommodating even with Covid restrictions. Highly recommend.
Veterinary Specialty Center I can highly recommend for the specialized veterinary care of your pets. Here is why....I successfully managed an AAHA accredited hospital for 10 years and have been in the veterinary industry for many years beyond this experience. I have never had to be referred for my own pets, but after the sale of a family veterinary practice, I bought pet insurance for my pets expecting that I would not have a hospital at my finger tips anymore. I am a committed pet owner but on the same token, can appreciate great customer service when I see it and also can recognize flaws, dropping the ball and details in a heartbeat.
My experience began when my dog developed a rapid onset IMHA (immune blood cell disorder ) and needed immediate critical care intervention on day 2 of these dreaded disease. When I called and let VSC know my background and I was enroute, they were expeditious in taking my information and were completely prepared upon my arrival. They took Derp, my dog, to the back, and the worst part is the waiting while they assess, get an estimate and have you meet with the doctor. This is just the best practice at this time - although I understand triage is a part of assessing the critical patients from stable....difficult on the waiting pet owners, but best for pets. About 60 minutes past and I found we were full speed ahead and they had been attending Derp s needs in the back the entire time.
They were so personable and made me feel good about leaving him in their care. Late night phone call updates 4am - another the next morning. Emergency medicine is a mad house - and I think they did a great job on communication to me.
Glad they could listen to the client s well informed wishes, also. Well, with the great critical care specialists & DVMS at VSC - Dr Corsi, Dr Gambino, Dr Tse and Angelette, Bland, Libbe and now Dr Peterson - no doubt Derp is getting world class care in this caring, compassionate hospital.
It s the little things that count - the professional staff up front - greeting me by name, knowing Derp - his story - saving my unopened water bottle from the previous day, opening doors, having a room ready, having TV & music in a pleasant and quiet visiting room, allowing me to the back when he was too critical for a visiting room, seeming organized despite the chaos that I know is going on in back, a big hug from team members that are checking on my dog even on their days off, making sure my dog is safe when an aggressive dog is coming around the corner..... honestly we always know there is small room for improvement - but from the face and experience, from an experienced hospital manager, this team is getting a lot right. The LVTs are smart, compassionate and personable. Front staff gracious, attentive and manning down a tough job!
The facility is meticulously clean to the AAHA standards I expected and you can tell they are committed to this process, not just cleaning up for a 3 year inspection. Trust me.... I know the ins and outs....they are getting it right on this point. This was super important to me - my dog All veterinary ER practices are feast or famine - it is mad house trying to balance the lulls and highs - I know they are on a 3 hour wait at those times - but they are there 24/7 - 365 days a week. Not afraid to refer your pet to the next ER if there is another treatment available and will listen to new treatments when it comes to this...
I give them 5 Stars.... I feel completely confident that I can communicate, effectively be my part on my dog s health care team and the care I get is worth all the reasonable fees charged. Read my entire review on Facebook.
During this time of COVID we understand that things take a little longer and processes are a little different, however, we brought our puppy in for uncontrolled vomiting and diarrhea, only to wait in our hot car for over an hour and then to be informed of the 5-6 hour wait because uncontrolled vomiting and diarrhea is not an emergency. I voiced my concerns that I could not wait with my child in the car for 6 more hours just to be seen but that I did not want my dog to die overnight or be in pain. I was told the dog probably wouldn't die. I realized these were not the people I wanted caring for my sick animal and when trying to leave was told not to because they could help me... after I'd just been told it would be a 6 hour wait to get said help. Communication is the key to professionalism, and had we been informed of the wait and our emergency having been not been a good enough emergency for the vet techs to take seriously, then we could have phoned other hospitals in the area without wasting our time here or being made to feel that the health of our animals was not a concern. This hospital forever be my absolute last resort in the future.
Excellent Care! Been there more than once, saved my dogs lives twice, treated well every other time. Surgery once, ICU twice, stitches/wound care twice. This is for emergency care, ICU and specialists! They are EXPENSIVE but they have all the latest equipment. They are like the Harborview for animals, you're glad they are there when you really need them, but not the place to go if you can wait until your vet is open (unless you are looking for specialty care).
Have had to put one dog to sleep there, surroundings were great, very kind to dog and thoughtful of our feelings, gave you plenty of time.
When they have REAL emergencies they might be too busy to spends tons of time with you, just like a REAL emergency room. But when your animal is the REAL emergency you will be happy for that. But be prepared to pay for state of the art care because that is what you are getting here.
Two days ago the Seattle region was hit with a significant snow storm leaving 9 of snow and traffic snarled as everyone made a dash for home. As I pulled into my driveway a notice a wild bunny struggling in the snow. Unfortunately, the poor little bunny had been hit by a car paralyzing his back legs. I knew he couldn t survive the injuries but that it was not right leaving him out in the cold. I scooped him up in a warm towel and placed him in a kitty crate.
I phoned my own personal vet to ask if they could assist in mercifully helping this bunny to get to bunny heaven as gently as possible. They said that they were all leaving to beat the storm and would not be able help. I didn t want the bunny to suffer nor feel pain one second longer than he had to. I then called the Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle 9loc aged in Lynnwood) as they had helped us a few years ago when we had to put our beloved kitty down. We were emotional wrecks to have to say goodbye to our kitty. The staff at this facility were supportive, understanding and allowed us to take as long as we needed. STILL, I was so amazed when I called them about a bunny that they said that they would be happy to help us with this wild bunny and, at no charge. We would have gladly paid but they said no. When we arrived they all moved quickly to assess the condition of the bunny. Sadly, we all agreed that the poor little guy couldn t be helped. The staff showed empathy and understanding in handling the situation in a professional manner. To be sensitive about one out of thousands of bunnies that are hopping through Brier was really awesome.
I am impressed with the facility but especcially with this staff who have enormous hearts. We are lucky to have a facility like this in our community. You didn t have to help but yet you did.
My beagle is 11 years old and starting to age. I took her there when she blew out a disk in her neck. These guys did everything you would expect from a professional vet. They aren't cheap because this is a hospital not a small veterinarian. It cost $100.00 just to walk in the door to get looked at, but the care is the best you'll find. Smaller vets are alot cheaper but its up to the owner. They were great with my dog when she underwent surgery to remove a cyst on her neck.
I took my pug there after he had a massive brain aneurysm they did great job under the circumstances. $1,800.00 for 10 hours of hospital care plus cremation service was not over priced considering a person in the hospital that long and you would add a new zero. The staff was very very compassionate and up front about the cost. I gave them credit up to $2,600.00 to start and let me know if it rose above that. If you live paycheck to paycheck you might find $60.00 too expensive. I've also taken my dogs there as a walk-in basis when I didn't have time to make an appointment and that will be a healthy fee as well. Learn what what you are getting into and give them time to check out your pet, run some test and stuff before they can answer any questions for you. Your pet isn't the only one there.
I was advised by the emergency vet to take my 11 year old pug to a neutologist after a 3 day stay in the ER. I called VCA on a Sunday in hopes to get him in as soon as possible. VCA called back to schedule an appt the for the following day. The scheduler was very friendly and answered my questions thoroughly. He gave me an estimate on the phone that seemed a bit high but I wanted my baby checked out right away so I agreed. We got to his appt a little early and everyone at check in was great. He had nurses coming over and saying hi the entire time we waited which was 35 minutes but we were 30 minutes early so that was great! We got to the room and his nurse really seemed to care and took the time to ask the probing questions. She took him away for some testing and a little while later he came back followed by the neurologist Dr Partnow. She was amazing she andwered all of my questions and explained all of the options even telling me that there was no need for the expensive procedure that I originally thought we were going in for (an MRI). After reading the reviews and hearing my original quote I thought we were going to have a bill well over 5k but walked out under 200 and have the information I needed. Thank you VCA you have made it where this momma can sleep tonight!!
The staff here saved my Pugs life. He was 3 when he was diagnosed diabetic. If he hadn't come in when he did he would have been dead the next day. I had no idea.
$150 for visit for my dog that was dieing. They wanted $1500 for the tests and 60% upfront. Sounded like an excuse to just run a bunch for no reason. I went to Mount Vernon and got my dog treated plus overnight for just $300
I read the negative reviews, remembered that Abe Lincoln once said, "If it's on the internet it must be true", and took my dog Toby there anyway. Based on my experience the bad reviews are sour grapes or competitors. The tech on the phone was clear about the risks of a small dog vomiting all day and her compassion continued when I arrived. The second tech had a concern for Toby's plight that was genuine and concise. The wait time for this emergency visit at 9 PM was less that 30 minutes before I was in front of the doc. After a brief exam she intently listened to my concerns then taught me that dogs with a sinus rhythm heartbeat can be normal. Her diagnosis and treatment options included very clear pricing, then, with no pressure, supported my decision to take him to his regular vet the next day. She said it would be 30 minutes for release treatment orders and I said no problem, I'll catch the next boat. Five minutes later the second tech had the orders and a bag of sample food. Toby got meds and sub Q liquids and I was expecting $500 for the visit. Nope. Less than $200, promptly checked out by the front desk staff, and I was out the door and caught the earlier ferry. If we didn't live on Whidbey Island, this would be our family vet.
Terrible! Had an emergency with my dog in labor she had a stuck puppy they said it would cost 5000-7000 to help and as soon as i said i couldn't afford it they gave me a guilt trip and still charged me 400.00 for nothing! So now im home waiting to see if my dog will live or not and no money to take her anywhere else. I will never recommend this place to anybody for anything this is terrible they will let your dog die if you dont make six figures!!! Terrible staff and terrible morale... Negative 5 stars from me!!
I walked into the hospital, told the desk gals my cat was hit by a car, and they called the back office immediately- before I even finished talking- and took Milo back for an immediate ultrasound to see if there's internal damage.
First the vet recommended he stay overnight to monitor his breathing and respirations because he had lung bruising from the impact. The vet showed me the bruising on his xray which I really appreciated. But after 1-2hrs his condition improved and vet informed me he could go home after all.
Was the total cost ridiculous? Isn't all health care- for humans too who don't have insurance rudiculous too? Especially with ultrasound and chest xray.
I was appreciative of the urgency they gave us and that the vet didn't say Milo still had to stay overnight when his condition improved.
Our 80 lb dog collapsed last week unexpectedly, we called our vet's office which was about to close and they referred us here. We called ahead, made the quick drive over, and were greeted in the parking lot with a gurney. They wheeled our Molly directly into emergency. I felt extremely well taken care of and could tell that we were a priority. Unfortunately nothing could have saved our sweet girl from the hemangiosarcoma that went undetected until that moment. Our doctor was strait forward and knowledgeable. We were presented with options in a clear and relatable way, I felt listened to and had my questions answered. We were given time and space to make the incredibly heart wrenching decision to put our 11-year-old English Labrador out of her pain. We miss her, but know the experts at VCA helped us to the best of their ability.
Incredibly professional, caring, & courteous. They let me sit with my dog for many hours in the middle of the night while she waited for surgery after she was hit by a car. They offered me a blanket, coffee, ... Cannot say enough about this wonderful resource and the staff! Thank you.
Ridiculous wait times. Plan for a 45-60 minute wait just to pick up your pet when they call to say they're "ready" for discharge. Shamefully I sat patiently waiting for 45 minutes before asking what the hold up was. It took another 15 minutes until I finally saw my pup.
The price is high, but I expect that at an emergency room. The people were increadibly compassionate. We brought in a stray having seizures and the receptionist grabbed the box and raced it back to the docs before even getting our name.. It was clear that saving her life was priority. In the end they weren't able to save her, but Michelle was very kind. I highly recommend them for emergencies.
I woke up to the cries of a sick cat and needed to find a vet quickly. My search found Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle a good fit for location. Upon arrival the staff was fully engaged with taking care of the man who walked in ahead of me and me and Octavia.
They asked me pertinent questions and took Octavia back to an exam room. I stayed out in the lobby to fill out some paperwork. Within minutes maybe 10 or so the nurse cane out to see me and asked if I could come with her. The long and the short of it is the staff at Veterinary Specialty were excellent. I ve never met them before but I felt like we were old friends and family. When the hard news was delivered it was done in small digestible pieces and I (even in sorrow) walked away in piece.
Whoa! I was and still am blown away by the care my dog Mollie received. They were able to pinpoint a rare condition quickly and get her on the road to recovery. Both veterinarians who treated Mollie took the time to explain what they thought she had, how to properly diagnose it, and then what the treatment would be. A week later and I still receive thorough and thoughtful follow up calls from the vets on her results and further treatment plan.
Alright, skipping to the point, my experience with VSCS is both positive and negative. The positive? The staff seemed genuinely invested in my pet the moment I arrived, and were very very warm and friendly. I was glad to see them every time, and so was he. That says A LOT. The doctor seeing Edward was on top of her game, and did an exceptional job communicating his condition to me and helping us to reach critical decisions together. And with all that was done, they saved my cat's life, and helped me understand what is going on with him. Finally, it is state-of-the-art, and I took comfort knowing that everything my pet could need was there, in case.
On the flip side, I found myself very frustrated when I came in the middle of the night twice with my cat to tell them that I had observed alarming symptoms in my cat, and it wasn't until the second visit that they finally did a full work-up and found that he was in critical condition. As I said, they did save his life. However it was very frightening having him dismissed that first time. In life threatening situations, time is of the essence. In all honesty? I'm very lucky he's still alive after they let us walk out of there the first time. That alone would give this review no stars at all, even in the face of the positive experiences I described above. That was a HUGE chance to take on my cat, and they put him in much further risk as a result.
Additionally, I was dismissed repeatedly over his loss of appetite. And I am unhappy about that. My primary vet finally called when she was back in office and took this concern *very* seriously. So my question is why aren't the techs trained to take this seriously too? Why did they just shrug and say, "well, he's eating really good for us?" --- do they know how much a 12 lb cat is required to get in a day? Because right now, he's eating about 1/8 of what he needs. It's scary.
A consistent experience is really important when you're talking about healthcare. You need to hear the same facts, or else you start to doubt that the truth is being told, and you mistrust them. A health concern for your pet is stressful enough, without feeling like you're being gaslighted at the same time. That is a huge flaw there, no doubt, as I experienced it several times over.
Bottom line? Don't believe everyone you hear there. Find a good doctor your primary vet trusts, and put your faith in his or her word. Trust your gut about your pet.
I would give them 1 star but have to acknowledge the convenience of them being available 24/7, the employees were friendly, and the surgeon who I spoke to on the phone was very informative. I appreciate that.
BUT, If you can avoid it, DO NOT GO HERE. They charged me $3500 to give my cat xrays and put bandages on his paws. Furthermore, they used heavily manipulative, emotional tactics to coerce me to spending an additional $5000 upfront for bandages only with a signed commitment of up to $9000. This would not include any potential surgeries!
Do not let this place put your animal down if their costs are too expensive! Get another opinion! I almost killed my kitty because of this place and I ve literally paid $550 for three bandage appointments since leaving there.
I had to bring my Buddy Kitty unfortunately in to relieve her of the pain of growing old and stopped eating.
My son and I were brought instantly to a very quiet, relaxing room to say our goodbyes.
They treated Buddy like she was one of their own. They gave us as long as we needed with her. If you need to do the unfortunate time of giving peace to your animal this is the place to go.
This is the first place I have been were my cat was treated so well at the end. Not on a cold table, not in a loud office, but in a peaceful area. They also sent a cast of her paw print.
I want to thank everyone at the hospital for how they treated us and my furball furbaby. All of you took a most horrible day and made it easier on us. Thank you!
Definitely not a place you want to go to, BUT ONLY because you'll be there for an emergency, and not for anything fun. That said, the staff here are great and check in is fairly quick, even when they're busy. The doctors here are good at what they do... Our pup had a major surgery here and came out all smiles despite what he went through. Not sure how the rates compare to other emergency vets, but we have pup insurance so I never really paid any attention to the cost. You do have to pay at time of checkout, though, so that could be an issue for some since most pet instance is reimbursement after payment. If you need a reliable emergency vet, definitely check out VCA.
Excellent care for your companions and even for the humans that are waiting and worrying. Be prepared for a wait so bring a book or something to take your mind off your troubled baby, you're in good hands.
Major props to VCA Veterinary Specialty Center in Lynnwood, I believe they were purchased by another company if I recall correctly.
The people in this hospital are very friendly, very accommodating and helped me through a cat ordeal I experienced.
They took good care of my little old man cat, gave me clear concise pre/post op care instructions and were very comforting through it all.
I highly recommend this hospital/facility when an emergency comes up and for vet check ups, reasonably priced in comparison to the first facility I went to.
Devin B is a decent competent vet undermined by his female staff who are rude and haughty and act in a superior manner as if they are very superior beings, if I spoke to my customers the way I was spoken to I would not have a job or a reference,I won't be going back.
Took my pup Aries in for a torn eyelid. The emergency doctor called to tell us that we needed to fork over almost $2,000 for surgery to repair it, as a specialist was needed. When asked what other options we had to lower the cost, the provider chuckled and said "hahah I could try to do it, but it will only save maybe $300." I work in a hospital, I know what appropriate bedside manner looks like, and to joke about the care of my pup is not funny to me. Additionally, during this pandemic $300 goes a long way. Because of her poor bedside manner and almost passive aggressive behavior, I told my husband that I would rather pay more money to a professional specialist to fix the dog then have someone like her be responsible for his health.
Additionally, we were asked to make a "deposit" before the surgery, but the "deposit" was actually the full amount of the procedure! Just call it what it is, and don't play games with me regarding the health of my fur-baby.
The only reason I am giving 3 stars instead of one is because of the outstanding work and professionalism exhibited by the opthamologist. She did an excellent job and truly cared about the well being of my Aries.
Worst experience ever!!! My cat was hit by a car and we brought her in to the closest 24 hour vet there was, I got a call from the vet saying her pelvis was probably broken and I asked them to put her down so she no longer had to suffer. I was told they were about to do x-rays to confirm. I then asked not to and to just put her down. 1 pain pill and one shot to put her down costed me $526.00 when I asked why it was so much, they told me they did the X-Rays as well even when I told them not to. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
We took our cat Jackson in for what turned out to be a bad asthma attack. The critical care department was amazing and got him fixed up. In the process of diagnosing his asthma it was discovered that he was born with a diaphragmatic hernia. Once his asthma was under control we scheduled surgery for repair. The surgery department was just as amazing as the critical care team. His surgery went very well and he is back to a healthy and playful boy now. Thanks VSC!
Money hungry. I need a second opinion on an MRI, was told I couldn't pay for them to look at an MRI image (which was done yesterday) because they only look after their own work up. So, They won't let me pay for them to look at a scan result, but they will let me move my sick dog who is in pain from the er he is in, to their facility, pay for bloodwork he just had done 2 days ago, and another 3k MRI, and THEN they would look. That's ridiculous. I just wanted them to look at the MRI and tell me what they see. That's not patient care.
SCAMMY INCOMPENTENT VET RUN AWAY!!! ONLY CARES ABOUT SCARING YOUR TO GETTING YOUR MONEY(owner response false) $5000 in 2 days......I tried not to write bad reviews and work with the owner of this business to resolve issues. HOWEVER it has been over 4 months and looking back we got scammed by this business....
-In my opinion this place is very SHADY /SCARE TACTIC SALES with there work practice and how they PREY on innocent pet owners, in vulnerable situations. My dog got sick and I took him in because he wasn't breathing well, before our normal Vet Opened. They took him back, they could not diagnosis him without "upsell" of there expensive tests(no diagnoisis). They just said he was really sick and "upsell" needed other tests(no diagnosis). He needed oxygen "upsell" and to be held overnight"upsell"(no diagnosis). I ask could we see him the next day because he does not eat without us their or out of the house. Before we could go feed him the next day "upsell" a new test, because over night he gotten worse (still no diagnosis). They were able to scare me into spending over $5000 in 2 days. There last "upsell" and final and only diagnosis a $10,000 lung removal or he was going to die. After we decided not to get his lung removed, we never saw or talked vet again, and they sent our dog home to Die and that they could put him down that weekend if we need it. The palliative (death) care medicine they gave him got almost killed our dog.
We got a second opinion for $300 total for testing and diagnosis our dog had Phenomena, no lung removal needed and our dog didn't need to put down. We ask for a refund or to just pay for the "at cost" of the testing at the vet clinic cost since they where incorrect with the diagnosis and got berated by the vet. Go anywhere else for vet care. Our dog is still alive, if only they would DO THE RIGHT THING AND REFUND THE MONEY FOR HORRIBLE INCORRECT WORK!!!!!!
I was here a few days ago with my 19 yr old cat who had rapidly declined in health (ER clinic). The staff was so kind through the entire process. They got me into a room right away since I had already told them she needed to be put to sleep. I appreciated so much that they trusted me in knowing it was her time and did not try to have me do a bunch of expensive testing just to discover what I already knew. They went over options with me every step of the way, even offering to allow me to pay in the room so I did not have to go back to the reception desk/waiting room after. I had scheduled a consultation with my regular vet about possible euthanasia and when I called the next day they said they had already cancelled my appt. Either this was a crazy cosmic mistake, or more likely, this clinic notified my usual vet of her passing. I am not sure if this is the case, but if it was, I can not express what that little extra step they took meant to me. Thank you so much for all you do.
We took our small dog in to get an ultrasound. Upon arrival it was made known to the employee(s) that our dog is not kennel trained and also has an infected bee sting on her foot that she will chew if left un-attended. After 4 hours and multiple calls to the receptionist, we had NO idea where our dog was and whether or not she had even had the ultrasound yet. After demanding to see our dog, she was brought out by a vet with the results 3 min later. While medically this veterinary office may be proficient, their ability to communicate and care for you pets are laughable at best. We will never be bring our dog back and will be letting the vet that sent us there know of everything that happened. If you love and care for your pet, you would be wise to take you pet elsewhere where they would be treated appropriately.
Our senior dog, Sammy, almost died from ruptured blood vessels in his spleen on Thursday.
By the time we got to the office, he was in distress. The drive was terrible. He cried a few times, but was growing more and more quiet. By the time we got there, he was almost unconscious. His gums and all exposed tissue were white, and his eyes were rolling back in his head. Due to COVID-19, the techs grabbed him in the parking lot and put him on a stretcher, and I thought that was the last time I d see him. My wife and I stood, alone, in the parking lot, choking back tears.
After stabilizing him, they performed emergency surgery to remove his spleen, and he had to stay in the hospital until Sunday afternoon.
During his stay, we got frequent empathetic updates from his emergency vet, Dr. Anya Gambino, who is a wonderful veterinarian. While he was in the hospital, Dr. Gambino assured me she was kissing Sam's nose for us, since we couldn't.
We won t get the pathology results for a few days, but it is probably a malignant tumor, and, if it is, it has already likely metastasized and will return. However, no matter what happens, I am grateful, because, if the last time I saw him was as he was on the stretcher, it would have been an excruciating memory of someone I ve known since he was a few weeks old, when all he wanted to do was sleep in our bed, between Susan and me.
Either way, we will make sure Sammy is a happy dog for every day we have with him, and I am so glad the staff at Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle were able to save his life.
Edited 4.3.2018. this Facility is no longer VCA, which is what my review was for. Apparently it is now a different company...I hope it has changed. My experience with this facility is that they take advantage of your love of your pet, and upsell un-needed services and pressure you with "I highly recommend you do this" comments. When I called to pick up my dog to take him to my normal vet, they tried to pressure me into keeping her there "for observation". When I said they charge by the hour, the response was, "Well, if money is an issue, come pick up your dog!" Clearly a cold, and money oriented facility, that does not have you, nor your pets best interest in mind.
Disappointed! Our dog had allergy so we took him there. The doctor couldn t tell what he has, we sat there for 2 hours to be discharged cuz she was busy, and got charged 180 for nothing.
Our German Shepard needed a Laminectomy, and Dr. Kline performed her surgery a few months ago. Our dog has since fully recovered and is doing well. The clinic staff took great care of our dog, and were up front with all costs and charges associated with the surgery. I recommend VCA and especially Dr. Kline, and her staff.
This place was ok when we had a sick dog, we had to out her down because of the unknown illness with a rescue. We put it on our credit card and paid 2500. 00 for treatment overnight. I just tried to donate today for someone who doesn't have funds and they would not accept my attempt at payment for them . Told us the person should set up a go fund me account. They can't afford treatment which is why I was making the donation. Sadly I cannot recommend this place unless you're prepared to be able to pay a lot for care. Quality of life for their pet is sadly not available for every pet owner.
Terrible experience. Would not recommend wasting your hard earned money or time here. The receptionist was nice and the waiting area was clean. The tech that took us back was very nice. The tech asked to take my dog to weigh him and get his vitals. My dog was gone for at least 45 minutes to an hour. Dr. Manashirova came in and had no interest in hearing anything that I could offer about my dog's symptoms or some of the treatments that we had already tried. Expected the fees to be higher than a regular vet's office, but was shocked at the cost of tests they wanted to perform. Finally agreed to all the testing, but am very disappointed with her communication. When Dr. Manashirova called at 7:13pm to give results, I was in the middle of scorekeeping on my phone and couldn't talk and asked for results to be emailed. Tried calling back 30 minutes later to be told she was out of the office for 4 days. Pretty much the only thing offered was to come back with another specialist and have more diagnostics done. Spent $2,300 and still am no closer to finding relief for my dog. I do not believe she cared at all about my dog or me and feel like all she cared about was how much I was willing to pay.
