Very underwhelmed. I'm new to Charlotte and was in need of a trim, and hopeful to find a permanent salon. Since Charlotte is so big and I'm pretty picky about my hair I decided to try out this salon since it was affiliated with Aveda (which I have been to plenty of their salons, and loved them all). I didn't get the feel of a usual Aveda salon, the process was very quick and I didn't feel pampered one bit. Also per their website it said a hair cut would start at $40, so when I went to checkout, my "trim" of a 1/2 an inch was $60, with just a blow dry no style. I'm looking for a great salon to have an experience of being pampered as all salon days are a treat. Sad to say I didn't find my salon home at this Aveda salon.

I have recently started going to Vargi and Vargi Salon. Charlton Alicea is an amazingly talented person who does an amazing cut, color and style. He pays attention to detail and you leave the salon feeling absolutely beautiful. He helps you choose products to suit your individual needs to maintain your hair until the next visit.
The salon has a warm, friendly, and relaxing atmosphere. It is clean and inviting.
I really didn t expect much of this place, it felt so dull and boring but the results are just undoubtedly beautiful. I might try again in here next week.
This place is way better that the other places around, I really enjoyed the way they work in here, very energetic and friendly staff, they are really amazing.
I have been a client for well over a decade! The service is top notch! The attention to detail and customer experience is second to none! Thank you Max and the entire V&V team!
I absolutely love Varji and Varji! I've been going to Max Varji for 20 years and I only trust him and his stylists with my hair! I would never go anywhere else or allow anyone else to touch my hair! Beautiful salon and wonderful, talented group of people! If you go here you will never go anywhere else!
This hair saloon is one of the best in Chatlotte. People are very friendly and they use high quality products. Very clean and pleasant ambience. Max Varji is a very skillful hair styler and a very nice gentleman. If you are looking for an upscale hair saloon with nice and friendly people, Varji & Varji is certainly one of your best choices in Chatlotte.
Update: Arya has now moved to a new space- Tribe salon in Charlotte. (They won't tell you that when you ask.) I'm still loving his cuts!
When I decided to donate my life-long waist length hair to charity, I knew I needed the best stylist possible to deliver a transformation cut that would lessen the trauma of losing so much of my length (and personality, so I thought). My hair was so much a part of me and I knew such a drastic change could be terrifying or it could be really amazing. However, I lacked the confidence to take the plunge until I started researching stylists in Charlotte. Varji and Varji were mentioned on many online message boards and by word of mouth. For me a big selling point was that they were the only salon to prominently feature hair portfolios on their Facebook page and on social media sites and that's how I settled on Arya. He was well-versed not only on his signature cuts for men that I had seen around town but he really grasps modern women's cuts as well. I saw in his portfolio women with curly Mohawks, beautiful blow-outs and long bobs that were all very flattering and his instagram page (Arya Varji?) alone convinced me that he was the stylist for me. Imagine my surprise when I learned a shampoo, cut and style with him was well below $100! As soon as he had an opening, I arrived armed with photos of what I wanted. I get to the salon which is simply beautiful and I got to have a consultation with Arya. He understood I was afraid going from long hair to a bob could go "suburban daytime-drunk soccer mum" really easily and understood that I wanted to look chic and expensive. He has a great, positive personality and really takes his time, talking to me the whole way through to make sure I was happy every step of the way. He never tried to force any of the salon's products on me (Aveda- ugh) and was very patient with any questions I had while educating me on his favourite products... A stylist skill is not solely determined by technically being able to cut hair, he proved that by establishing what length and style would be best for my face shape, hair type and daily routine. At no point did I even question that I wouldn't love my new hair and I'm INCREDIBLY picky. Also, he uses Hattori Hanzo shears which was an amazing experience in itself as I knew the Rolls Royce of shears was touching my head... For Arya's cuts I, with no doubt, would travel from states away. I couldn't be more happy with him and I have already had a dozen people stop to ask about my hair in one day! Yes, Varji and Varji is a bit pricier than chains and other small salons but you truly get what you pay for. I'd rather have a phenomenal cut and style in a relaxing, professional atmosphere than a cheap haircut I would cry over and pay triple price to fix. He truly gave me confidence with this cut and turned a scary experience into such a wonderful outcome.
I only go to Varji & Varji once a year. My mother pays for my hair to be styled and brows to be threaded. It is more expensive than some salons (which is why I only go when my mother foots the bill!), but the work they do is excellent and worth the splurge. I'm considering coming every two months to get my brows threaded, as I'm hesitant to trust anyone else to do as good a job as Nimue (whose name I'm not sure how to spell) does. Penelope is an excellent hairdresser, and I highly recommend her if you go. However, I have only ever gotten my hair cut and styled and my brows threaded. I have no idea how their hair dye holds up, as I've never had that done.
