If you re on a budget and just need somewhere decent to sleep/shower for a weekend New York trip - I would highly recommend just staying here. It s not a fancy hotel so don t expect amenities of that sort. Rooms are small but that s a given, since it s the city. It s surprisingly clean, well insulated (warm and cozy during the wintertime) and sharing the bathroom/ shower area on your floor will bring back memories of your college dorm room days. There were some plumbing issues on the bathroom on my floor but it wasn t a big deal. There are additional rest rooms and showers in the downstairs gym/ pool area that you can use as well. Also, it s very safe with security guards screening ppl at the front. This was perfect for us and we saved a lot of money that we used on eating good food instead! Thanks YMCA!

The rooms are so tiny so that you need to stand next to each other and have to go to the end of the room if one of the people needs to pass. The room didn't have an air conditioner, just a small fan that partially worked, it was hard to breath in the room.
Paint was coming off the walls and white shreds kept falling on us.

The shower was super contaminated with bugs, and the water stream was very weak.

When checking out, you actually have to pay 2$ for each bag you want to keep in the luggage room.

The management & service was very lacking and rude. we got woken up in the middle of the night by one of the workers as he asked us to stop using our electricity plugs, he woke us up with loud knocks on the door and didn't even apologize, And when we asked to get a room with good electricity plugs, they did not respond and did not give us any alternative, we had to charge our laptop & phones at Starbucks every morning. Aswell, the manager was unreachable, and in the first day, according to them, was non-existant. At the end they let us speak with the "building manager".

In conclusion - I'd stay away from this hotel. Despite its being cheap and in a great location, I wouldn't recommend anyone staying there. Avoid at all cost.

If you are on a budget and don't mind shared facilities, it's not a bad option. I never had to wait for the toilet or shower even though it is shared with the whole floor. The window AC unit was sufficient and kept the room nice and cold. Towels and linens were changed daily and the bathroom was kept quite clean.

Yes, the heater does have a hourly banging noise but after night 2, I could sleep through it.

The clients who don t follow the shelter rules at the ymca shelter ran by BRC love Jim the shift supervisor because he allows them to use Paraphernalia in the facility he also gives them a heads up so they can get rid of it around the area where the YMCA is located

You people complaining! WTH do you expect at a Y ? Do you understand the concept & tradition of this? And if you want the front Desk people to answer when you call or be helpful like a hotel then try tipping them upon check in, this is New York it's not cheap here.

I've been there for a days in March and the experience was not great. Everything seemed very dirty and there were actually mice in my room. But the worst thing about this were the mice in the heater because they were so loud I couldn't sleep at night. The only good thing was the location and the price was okay, but I'd definitely not recommend staying there if you want to get some sleep

Overnight shift is unprofessional, it's ran by James. He works 11pm -7am. James is Extremely lazy. He sleeps in between the shift. He takes Super long, to address complaints, also there's talk that he allow contraband. On site Jim needs to,be investigated about allowing drugs, into the building its unprofessional. as well puts other at risk. The YMCA Partnered with BRC to help clients meet future goals, & become self sufficient the rate is actually very successful, at helping others going through a temporary hardships,it's sad that James puts others at risk with illegal activities.
