Van de Valk hotel Purmerend. Review

great hotel, good rooms, MORE THAN GREAT service as well, food good and good portions. 2 minor set backs. Small shower stall and pillows were a bit too soft, so no neck support.

Just checked in. Don't order ice cream for your drink. Kindness radiates from it. Thought it was Christmas And yes, drink it in a separate room. Not at the bar. Welcome to van der Valk :(

Cheap price with great service. Old hotel with no lifts or air conditioning in rooms, you can open the windows (but there's nothing really stopping people entering through the window). Apart from the old design, was nice staying here.

An old-fashioned Van der Valk. Small, tidy, friendly and very simple. Great food nice dishes and friendly staff. It seems to me that this location will soon disappear and be resurrected at a new location in a new capacity. But this can really be done well.

Good food - 3 courses - great hotel price / quality - great that the dogs could come - nice staff, great weekend.

Friendly staff, good food. Lots of choices for dinners and looks better than other Van der Valks. Choice with desserts is a bit less, there is ice everywhere.

Not a class hotel. Very old-fashioned. Rooms are lala. Holes in the curtains. Window was supported with 2 wooden blocks to keep it open. The city of Purmerend itself made up for a lot. Nice place

Very small hotel where you can relax. Difficult to find because it is on the municipal border .... Great restaurant and a well cared for breakfast.

Location was not nice, accessibility was not clear, food was not tasty
(potatoes almost black). Bath and shower very small. Al metal no hotel to come back again.

We have eaten well here a few times and we decided to go again. The rude blonde employee with a cheeky mouth made us decide to leave, first rude behavior during ordering and also at the table behind our smart behavior, after waiting for more than 45 minutes for the ordered lunch, I indicated that we thought it was taking too long, the excuse was that it was busy that was made clear to me in an ordinary way, I still said that is not my problem, the answer was amazing enough that it was also not her problem after which she just screamed CHEF into the kitchen. my husband was meanwhile already in the car and the people from the other table left without having lunch. the sewage air in the back corner where we were also not pleasant .bizar enough there is nobody from the management on the reviews online, so there is so much interest for their customers!

Van der Valk is located here in an old building close to the water, dyke and city of Purmerend. At the back they have expanded considerably with a lot of new room, which are well cared for.
Parking space is spacious and free for visitors. The path here, however, is tight and steep.
There is a bar, terrace and reception, where you will be kindly assisted.
The breakfast here is extensive and fresh. You can also have lunch and dinner here. We have not done the latter. Because we had a reservation with Mario in Neck. This highly regarded Italian is less than 10 minutes away. And is definitely worth a visit.
You can also visit the city within walking distance. All in all a nice location!

NOTE: Google Maps just indicates the wrong place !!! Navigating with Google Maps takes you to the wrong side of the hotel. A Van Der Valk from the older generation. Nice, not great.

I think soup comes from a can and you pay 7 euros for that. The bread with the club sandwich is soft, not even toasted and the fries do not taste like anything, very cheap quality.
A pity because the restaurant does look cozy. But because of the bad quality I can't get there anymore.

We have celebrated my parents' wedding anniversary here. The entourage was good, the service friendly and the food was tasty. In short, a must!

Average hotel. Rooms very dingy, hairs in the bed of different guests, really very dirty. Breakfast (e14 on) moderate. Dehydrated cheese, fruit largely canned. 1 time, but not again.

We have never experienced this at one of the Van der Valk's. Twice got a room with mold in the shower .. very dirty, see photos. Afterwards we made contact and were again offered a night at the hotel which we had indicated not to want because we had such a nasty and dirty experience. Unfortunately no more responses to emails. We are very disappointed in this Van der Valk location. We still hope for a suitable solution.

It is an attractive ambiance, the staff is very friendly. The food is very good. We have eaten delicious. We had a great evening with 12 people. And the service is very good. Recommended.

Good restaurant. No pretensions, but good food and friendly service.

Had a bouncer with ham and cheese. Taste was fine in itself, but with a bouncer of 3 eggs I expect that it will easily completely cover 3 slices of bread. When dividing the bouncer over the 3 slices of bread, barely a third was covered with egg per slice. Very scanty for 8.50! A disappointing experience.

A bit expensive for what it is. Staff is arrogant and hasty.

The hotel is very small! Not what you're used to from vdValk.

It is a dated hotel. Eating the satay in the evening costs 18.50, which is okay, but if you get a mini portion with a small cup of fries, you better go to a cafeteria. And then the bathroom you want to float in the bath, there is just hair in my bath and dust or something I don't know what it was. The paint is peeling and the dust is on the shelves. Breakfast is okay.

Small hotel with nice terrace, smooth service, the terrace lights up at a busy traffic point with a lot of exhaust gases from the cars.

Outdated hotel rooms. Shower cabin much too small. Beds fine. Dinner in restaurant, filet mignon 25.50 for which you really get too little meat. Good meat but really too little, certainly for what you pay for it. Dessert did not match what was on the menu. After indicating this, they responded with disbelief and quirky. Even after payment indicated that meat was really too little for what you pay for it. "That is possible ...." was the only thing I got back ... If not customer friendly !!! "Gosh madam, annoying, I will check with the chef, because that is not the intention", or "I will ask how many grams you have received and will come back to it" ... but none of that . Only a few times: "That is possible ...". Having deposited this later with the manager, I expected at least from him the next day, for example when checking out a feedback .... But unfortunately not. What bets me is far below par. I have already been to many van der Valk hotels, as far as I am concerned this score is really insufficient on both rooms and customer friendliness.

Lunch is reserved 2 days in advance for 7 people outside. It is a pity that the table is not ready when you arrive with a group. We sat outside in the garden and sat half in the shade and the other half in the bright sun, while it was very hot. Eaten from the lunch menu and that was to everyone's liking. Young lady, who was very friendly and also had a chat with us. Finally delicious lunch and seated. The garden is attractive and a cozy place in Purmerend.

A pity, but more is expected. Food was disappointing and they have not heard of flexibility. Too bad.

Very professional staff at the reception i attended.

He had a pleasant two night stay, seeing we did not use the other facilities besides the beds here, this is all I can say about it.

A warm welcome and a warm room. We were given a very minimal welcome on arrival, a good afternoon was not even possible. It makes a reception so much nicer when you are greeted in a friendly way and, for example, you are asked if you had a good trip. Such small things make for me whether I come back somewhere or not.
Our room, upgraded to the Beemster suite, was very spacious, a plus. Unfortunately very dated, but clean. The lamp in the toilet was due for replacement, buzzed enormously and flickered, this was only replaced the second day, a pity the buzzing worked enormously on your nerves if you wanted to relax in the bath (one and the same lamp knob for both rooms)
Fortunately the windows were open, no aico present.

All in all a nice and good stay, the reception really needs to improve.

A bit older van der valk hotel but look neat and clean. Room and bathroom are clean. Restaurant tastefully decorated and service friendly. We were also kindly assisted at the reception. Ample parking available. Breakfast was very extensive and delicious.

Really good food, nice mixed grill, great and friendly staff.
