The food here is exceptional, very few places like it in the area. Some of the most experienced and knowledgeable wine experts around and some of the best customer service. You can expect one of the highest quality restaurant experiences in the city and in the region.

It's a great place to go! Great staff. My wife have had dinner there a few times and have just stopped by for wine and dessert a few times as well. I can't imagine having a meal there that wasn't delicious.

They took our coats and seated us. Matt Brown, their wine expert explained all of the wines and their origins to us that he pared with our food! Wonderful wines, delicious! Georgi with an "I" answered all our questions regarding each course. My cocktail was made with fresh juice
and tequila and they made it according to what I like, is was awesome! They use fresh ingredients when preparing your meal . It was an excellent meal in great atmosphere! You can dress casual or really dress up it all works. V. Mertz set my pallet on fire...loved IT! Just tell them Dee from Embassy Suites sent you!

Me and my wife had an incredible experience here. We unfortunately had to cancel our wedding reception due to covid so after our ceremony this last Saturday, we came here for a nice dinner. Our family gave them a heads up and the restaurant and our server, Kendra, went out of their way to decorate the table and made for a very special and intimate evening. The restaurant is small but makes for a quieter and more romantic experience. It's location in downtown and in the underground pathway is very cool. The service is unbeatable (Kendra was fantastic) and the food was immaculate. We'll probably be making this our anniversary dinner spot since it was such a special evening. Highly recommend!

Thanks for making our anniversary so special. EVERYONE said happy anniversary and they even went out of their way to print a unique menu that said happy anniversary. Doesn't hurt that the food is basically the best in Omaha either.

Really a 5 star restaurant. You should be able to satisfy any wine taste and/or food and wine pairing. Menu is diverse. We opted for the tasting menu (it's the second time we've done that option). For tasting menu, plan on 2.5-3 hours. We have been going here for several years, low staff turnover and they are all extremely awesome at making you feel welcome. It is pricey, but certainly worth it from what you would pay locally for comparable service.

I've been here a few times while attending conventions. They have some of the best food in a low-key high-class environments. The menu is new every time.

My only gripe is that I wish their dessert menu was as differing as their primary menu. Things seem to not change much on that menu.

We had a fabulous dinner here while in town. The ambiance is great! Ferns, brick and water fountains give the perfect setup for a relaxing dinner.

We started with the charcuterie and cheese plates. Great selection and everything was delicious and beautifully presented.

For my main, I had the juniper cured scallops and they were fabulous! Perfectly cooked. I also was able to try the chicken mousse stuffed shishito peppers and the waygu steak. Everything was excellent!

We had the chocolate mousse terrine, peach dessert, and panna cotta. All were so pretty and tasty!! We were also able to try some of the wonderful wine selection...a red and white. Both were excellent.

Zero complaints about this place. Ordered the lobster and it was absolutely remarkable. Kendra was our server and she killed it; glasses were never empty and she wasn't over the top. Thank you V Mertz!

I finally got a chance to try the chef's tasting menu at V. Mertz and it was everything I hoped it would be. Every course was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, the wine pairings were generous and well chosen, and service was on point the whole time.

The restaurant itself is beautiful, too. I love the quiet, intimate setting in the Old Market Passageway.

V. Mertz belongs in the top tier of Omaha's fine dining spots. I can't wait to go back.

I don't know what some of the negative google reviews are talking about on here, I'm guessing those reviewers palate's would be better suited for dinner at Applebee's. The food, as well as the atmosphere, is superb. My wife and I just finished the 5 course dinner with wine pairing just a few hours ago. The service was not only exceptional, it was above what was called for. It was outstanding. The very knowledgable staff took time to explain, in detail, the course being served as well as the accompanying wine. The food was an easy five stars, the service five stars, and the experience is one that will make a lasting impression. I can't wait to go back. I will recommend this fine dining establishment to anyone who enjoys a top notch, exquisite dining experience with the service to match.

Cheers!

The food is worth the price. The atmosphere is romantic and cozy. The staff is precise with the orders and timeliness of following up. The wine selection is very wide with a full spectrum of pricing. There's a lot to like about this place.

Wonderful food although quite expensive. Great environment. Our waiter was amazing in all she knew about the different foods. A great place to go if you want to impress someone. The ambiance in the weigh-in is beautiful.

Worst meal I have ever spent 100$ on. Duck was dry and cold, tasted like it was cooked yesterday. Everything on the halibut plate was just mushy and none of it was hot. Mushrooms tasted canned. The $5 dinner roll was pretty good, as were the cocktails. Waiter gave good service. He should not be dragged into this. The food was bad. Gordon Ramsey would lose his mind if he ate what we ate.

Wanted to impress bae so I took her to V. Mertz. Absolutely loved this place. Cool atmosphere and the location in the passageway makes it feel more exclusive. Great food, service and wine. Our server went above and beyond to make it a great evening -can't wait to be back.

V. Mertz has always been a long-standing favorite of ours when we visit Omaha. The rotating menu keeps things interesting and atmosphere, somewhere between rustic and fine dining cross, is always soothing. Some of our favorites are the chacuterie and cheese plates. The knowledgeable staff are able to describe every item on the plate and offer great pairings of wine or custom cocktails. The addition of an amuse-bouche to the meal is always a nice way to start off. The added benefit of a coat check in the winter is an upscale feature we appreciate. However parking is a little bit of a nightmare as it is located in the heart of the Old Market. The food is worth a walk around the block or even two blocks. We have found that going it less busy times means greater attention from the staff and more explanation about the meal.

My wife and I recently celebrated our 4th anniversary at V. Mertz. This was probably the best dining experience we have ever had. The service was impeccable and the food and wine pairings from the tasting menu were amazing. We will definitely be dining here again.

An intimate restaurant that takes pride in using fresh, local foods as much as possible. If not local, they try to source high-quality and tasty ingredients. We love this for a special occasion

Long time favorite. Menu process has changed but tasting menu was very good. Excellent service. They crumb your table between courses, love that. Wine pairing was great and very well presented by the sommelier. A tremendous experience of a meal. Probably still our favorite in Omaha.

Second time here. First time wasn't that great but they've definitely made up for it. The hand made pasta was good, al dente and tasted fresh. The steak and porkchop were tender and flavorful. Great bar, great wine selection. The service last night was top notch.

My husband and I were traveling from out of town and looking for a good steak. We definitely found it here! Everything was delicious. Loved the incorporporation of fresh summer produce into the menu. The pimento cheese tasted straight out of Charleston! Our server, Joanna, was so nice and attentive. Restaraunt was quiet and shielded from the street noise. Felt safely distanced from others compared to some restaurants we passed with packed patios and lots of sidewalk traffic.

I just cant get over how great this place is. The food was all great and for someone like me, who isnt very experienced in fine dining, the wait staff was very friendly and willing to explain everything. As long as you are more interested in quality than quantity I am positive you will love it.

We did the cheese plate and the 12 course tasting menu. Everything was wonderful. The reconstruction of chicken into a log thing and sliced was my least favorite, but still good. The bathrooms need to be made to match the quality of food and price being paid. Over all, excellent meal and Wonderful service. We will be back for future tasting menus!!

My husband I went here for our 1-year anniversary last night and loved the dining experience. We splurged on the tasting menu with wine pairings (roughly, $100/person), and felt it was a great way to experience a variety of foods without having to commit to just one dish. We also tried a cocktail a piece and a meat board, all of which were also delicious. This place is great choice for foodies :)
Our server, David, has been there 17 years and is very knowledgeable. The chef also visited our table a few times too and offered descriptions of the food.

We used a Groupon ($100 for $50) and it worked with ease.
We will be back again!

V Mertz is absolutely the best New American small-plate dining in Omaha. High quality, locally-sourced ingredients and an attention to both taste and presentation make this a favorite romantic spot in the heart of the Old Market.

Fine dining in the heart of the old market. Service and food are spectacular. The highlight was my wagyu strip steak.

Considering that this is an upscale establishment, the prices are quite fair. I would definitely come back here on a special occasion or serious date.

I haven't been there for almost 25 years, I had my 21st birthday dinner & will always be forever grateful. Their brunches were insane especially the cream of mushroom & rice soup. Stay well & be cool.

This restaurant is in a beautiful location to start off. This is a place that you will want to look nice for. We went here as part of our food tour and has the green bean salad. It was awesome. They also have very tasty wine. The main menu features small plates and large, and we re already thinking about returning to make an evening of trying their impressive small plates.

I was very excited to try this place and all I got was disappointment. First my party of 3 was clearly seated at a table made for 2 people, we had to ask if we could move to the four person table that was only set for two, annoying but not a deal breaker. The service was pretty terrible, I hate going to an expensive restaurant and having to repeatedly ask for water and awkwardly sit there with empty dishes in front of you for 20 minutes. I could forgive the service and the noise if the food had been great, but it was really mediocre to poor. Sure you were paying top dollar but the best thing there was the butter and rolls. One of our appetizers had some VERY al dente barley, we're talking crunchy. The other two apps were alright, not bad but not good either. The main courses were good, not great. One of our party had "steamed" veggies, half of which were raw. We ended up paying $250 for our meal and I've had much better meals at other places in Omaha for less than $60, not to mention the service. A huge disappointment since I raved to my guest about how well this place had been reviewed. We will not be back.

We were actually convinced by the staff to come in while walking by. We had stopped to check out the menu and asked what was good. He simply said, "Everything ". HE WAS SO RIGHT!!! Best part of visiting Omaha.

Might win the award for best service in town. V Mertz is a true Omaha classic that has survived changes in menu and management and has been able to maintain an elite dining experience. The location in the passageway and dark and inviting room make for a memorable dinner every time.
