Well for starters, I applaud any medical worker of all professions, even though I might like some more than others; just because the medical field in general has great benefits, & comes with fun opportunities!!! And in the end of course you're helping people. And it all comes with misdiagnosis and malpractice eventually, but that's life. And as important as the medial life is, it's just not my forte! Lol never has been, really. Although if I were ever to work in the medical world it would be a dietitian or an obstetrician. Anyways, I've had 3 other endocrinologists that I've changed over the years for moving purposes; & Dr. Bratcher is now my current one. I've had 1 appt with her my 1st one in January, & she's overall a nice, cool lady, good doctor/good at what she does, witty, and I feel like I can talk to her about my health comfortably. Plus I'd never been in U.T Health before until then, & I like it period because they have a Starbucks! Any place with a Starbucks (& Starbucks period) is always good. ^_^ I hope it every appt with her gets better and better!

Do not go here if you need a referral anywhere. I was in an accident on April 9. I went to the ER, who told me to "follow up with an orthopedic specialist". Well, I have an HMO and I can't just go to a specialist without a referral from my Primary Care Physician. So, I saw my PCP on April 12 for the SOLE PURPOSE of getting a referral to an orthopedic doctor. Today is May 11. Still no referral. I called UT and asked if they would just schedule me an MRI since they can't seem to get me a referral to an orthopedic doctor. That was almost 2 weeks ago. They called me a week ago to let me know that the MRI will be scheduled but they have YET to call me and actually schedule it. I called their HR department and left 3 voicemails with their "patient advocate" (the person you call to file a complaint). Guess what? I haven't heard back from her either. If they aren't giving you a referral to another doctor at UT, forget about getting a referral.

Only complaint is the guest "bed". Everything else is wonderful from staff eager to be of assistance, wonderful care from Housekeeping, anesthesiologist, surgeon, all nurses and NA, OT, PT, dietary. This review is from an old retired nurse who is difficult to please!

This er is a joke! They told me that my 11 year old wouldnt be seen because i had my other 4 children with me and they couldnt go back. Im a single mom of 5, i had no one to keep them. Sad case, i will never return and continue to take my service to mother frances, where i know she will be seen REGARDLESS of my other 4 children being with us.

I ve been waiting on my Covid results for 5 days and I ve called 10 times and can t get through to anyone! I m on hold for 10 minutes and as soon as I m put through they hang up on me it s ridiculous. Please go to mother Francis instead they are way easier to get in contact with and don t take forever to give results.

PA Jameson listens and deeply cares for people, always trying to find a way to find the cause and prevent one from going on medication. Very easy to talk with and takes time to completely hear a person. I am so happy to have found him since my regular doctor is retiring.

We spent more than half the day here, between two appointments and labs. We were greeted often in the corridors, and every single person was friendly. I also found the medical professionals my aunt saw to be competent and caring, and more than willing to spend a little time asking probing questions and just making conversation. If I had insurance, I would hie myself up there with a quickness.

Efficient, accommodating, attentive, professional, knowledgeable, and outgoing staff on every floor, in every field. Thorough and thoughtful care. Clean and spacious campus. Ample parking. Coffee and gift shop. Impressive for all the right reasons.

I see Dr.Shaffer up there at The University of Texas. I would recommend any diabetic to Dr.Shaffer he has been the best so far that I've been to. I've been through 3 in one year but then I found this doctor and have been blissfully happier.

Terrible place... If I could give a negative star score, I would. The worse Emergency Room I have every been to in my 65 years. I was in extreme pain from an epidural that was injected into a bulging disc in my lower spine for an unrelated surgery at UT hospital in Athens. No x-ray or anything to verify where they needed to do the epidural. Later, the doctor's office said that they don't typically even do the surgery with an epidural. That was the anestesialigist's decision that is contracted with the hospital.
Back to UT-Tyler... After checking in and waiting 20-30 minutes, they call my name. I'm thinking, Wow! They called me already. Psych! No. They called me to take me to a small room to get my blood pressure and to give me an EKG. EKG??? What in the heck was that for? Bump up the cost of the ER charges? My pain had nothing to do with my heart. Ivan, the guy that did the EKG, was the rudest medical person ever. I re-positioned myself in my chair. He barks to not move. I explain that I hurt. He barks to not move or talk. JERK! So, they take me back to the waiting room. Another wait of 20-30 minutes and they call my name again. Yippee! I'm going to be seen and get some relief. I had already thrown up from the pain and could not sit with any of my right side touching the chair. So, there take me to another little room to put in an IV and take blood. Do they take me to an exam room? NO! Back to the waiting room. After an hour or so, I had my wife ask for a gown so that I could loosen my pants. 20-30 minutes later, she had to go ask again for a gown because they had done nothing. 10-15 minutes later, I finally get the gown. We sat for well over an hour... All this time people are being called back and ambulance patients are being taken back. I still sit...The only person there with obvious immediate care needed. 15-20 minutes later, they call my name, again. Oh, gee, I'm going to get seen. A lady walks up. I tell her my name and my birth date. She tells me that she doesn't need that because she is there for me to do a SURVEY. A SURVEY? REALLY? I told her that she doesn't want a surgery from me and went off on her. "What is this? Are you calling my name to throw me another piece of candy and making me think I'm getting some help?" I explained what I had been through. She told me that she would see what she could do. Another 20-30 minutes later, I stood up, which of course caused more pain, to tell them my name and that I was leaving. One of their medical personnel argued with me and told me that I wasn't leaving with the IV in my arm and that if I tried to, he would call the police. He also stated that it was against the law for me to leave with it in my arm. That was a LIE! I have checked with several people in the medical field and they verified that it was a lie. He also told me that the ambulance people weren't being seen because they were being stacked up again the wall in the hallway inside the exam area. So I said something loud enough for everyone to hear about his statement telling them something about how long they could plan to wait if they are stacking them up in the hallway in the ER... Good luck! Not to cause a problem with the security person that was also standing there because of my complete support for police and pseudo-police, I let him remove the IV. They gave my wife directions to get from the doctors office building next door to the ER driveway. When the security guy wheeled me out to the car, the medical guy informed me that if I had called an ambulance at the doctor's office rather than going straight to the ER, I would have received pain medication from the EMTs on the ambulance. Nice to know AFTER THE THREE HOUR OR SO WAIT!!! I have been a patient at UTHSC in Dallas for over nine years. I have never been treated this way. I recently moved to Palestine, so I've had to change doctor's. I can assure you that even if I'm going to die, I wouldn't step foot (or wheelchair or gurney) back in a UT health facility in East Texas. Not one positive review for ER. Need policy review.

My name is Steve Teague. On January 3rd of this year I came to the emergency room via ambulance, and after about 8 hours was admitted to the hospital. The purpose of this letter is to express my appreciation for the excellent care and attention that I received there.
While in the emergency room I was seen by Dr s Rodan and Springer, along with others (please excuse any misspellings or miss-identifications as I am going on memory, which due to the nature of my symptoms must be faulty). ALL were caring and attentive to my needs. Dr. Rodan did a spinal tap under the direction of Dr. Springer, which I expected would be painful, but it was not. Good job! My wife, Regina, was also very appreciative of the attitude and help by all of the staff.
I was admitted briefly into the ICU, and Sheila and Jason, I believe, looked after me. Their professional but empathetic care and response to my attempts at humor was greatly appreciated.
From there I went to the 5th floor and got more of the same from the nurses and helpers. I did not come into contact with anyone who exhibited a cantankerous bent. My conclusion is that what I experienced from your staff is a systemic blessing and does not represent a superficial veneer. This reflects well on the hiring practices of UTHSC.
I can remember at least 5 Doctors that looked after my needs. As far as I am able to judge, they did an excellent job and I and my family appreciate it very much. Beginning with the Doctors I am listing everyone that I can remember in no particular order. But for all who I can t remember I extend the same appreciation. Likewise, for all those that labored in the background in support capacities, I want to say a sincere thank you.
Doctors: Rodan, Springer, Osisibo, and Kanake (There is also one whose name I can t remember a blond lady I believe).
Nurses, other attendants and workers: Sheila, Jason, Keandra, Dhing, April, David Williams, Cathy, De De, Dana (food service), and others.
I especially want to thank Reba for her workmanlike efforts and her unfailing humor. She is a Gem. I also want to single out for thanks Lachelle and the hospital staff who hired her. She does a fine job.
Thank you all so very much.
Steve Teague

First note I started using them because they are used through my insurance and a couple years back I got diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. They put me on birth control to help, which screwed my cycle all up. After experiencing the worst pain I've felt I went back to have it addressed. They said it wasn't there. So why am I hurting daily if its gone? Back and forth, back and forth, all these tests they say I'm fine. Whatever I'll just be in pain. Second note. After living through trauma by both parents and a stepfather, my body doesn't understand that what happens is real. Its called depersonalization, drealization disorder where your brain is trying to protect itself. I went to see a psychiatrist for help. 2 sessions. That's all I had. My psychiatrist would just stare at me half the time while I cried and not say anything. Then I was told to make our room look more homelike (husband and I are financially struggling and have been helped by family). That was all the advice I got. I needed help. I still need help. My poor husband now has to deal with my issues as I just bottle up all my emotions until I explode or get upset. Sometimes I even cry for no reason. He tries his best to help. But I know he can only do so much. Because of this I have thrown the bird to all psychiatrists and will never again see one. They are a crock. Not to mention they treat you like a drug addict. 2 or 3 years later I'm still paying on those 2, 1 hour long sessions that did absolute squat for me. Thanks guys!

UT Health East TX has been excellent with service and friendly as can be. I'm at ease with every visit, and the doctors I've had so far are great! I really don't mind going, before the coronavirus, and now, as I have a few more future visits. It's all good! Thanks to all involved!! William Morrow

My son was still ill after being released from a different hospital that later refused to treat him further. After his condition got progressively worse, I took him here instead. I have to say that the overall experience was outstanding. Every member of staff was caring & genuinely wanted to help us. They did a procedure in the ER that made my son feel drastically better before we left. The attending Dr even called afterwards to check on his progress. I am very thankful they were there to provide the care he needed!

I went in the emergency room on 05/25/2015. I had a concussion, an was seen very quickly. They were so sweet, not disrespectful in anyway. I usually don't write reviews! This deserved a comment, with a five star rating. I will be doing my business here in, hopeful not all the time...lol

Recently went there for out patient sonogram and endoscope and didn't have a very good experience. The nursing staff just seemed to rush us through the process. She was more concerned about getting my daughter up and out to the car than allowing her time(at least 10 minutes) to recover. I was told I could go back there and where I got back there no one ever came to take me to where my daughter was. No I would grade this hospital a D-. They have the bedside manners of an elephant! We will not return there under any circumstances.

Great service and doctors that treat your entire body. Better than Trinity Mother of Francis. You may not know they purchased ETMC a lvl 4 ER. So go there for your emergency medical care, the hospital here is for urgent care and MD Anderson has partnered with them for awesome cancer treatment and reserearch. They cover all cancer research but believe lung is specialty.
