Great museum. Best if you get the permanent exhibit ticket, which is free, but they are limited in quantity.
Humbling experience to learn about a dark time in world history. Recommend anyone visiting DC to make since a top museum. Easily spent over 3 hours here.
It was explained carefully from the historical background, and it was very good that it was evaluated from various perspectives! It may be a bit tired to watch as many people are visiting and feeling frustrated despite the winter of the end of the year. If you go early ...
Was incredibly saddening to see the memories of millions of people who died in vain, very quiet and very serious educational and emotional experience
A museum that filled with sorrow and devasting pasts. One of my favorite musuem all time.
Make sure to go when you have tickets/time for the exhibit. It's a free museum but not everyone can go in at once, and if you go later you'll miss out.
I loved it here, great place if you are in to history
Had the pleasure of sitting in on the First Person Survivors of the Holocaust and it was amazing! Freddie had such a sobering story and a sense of humor amongst such a terrible circumstance. Loved every minute!
One of the places which remind you that we as a human should not forget tgat we are humans and should be spreading love, not hatred. Holocaust museum stands tall to remind us our dark history. Huge respect for the people who fought/still fighting for the freedom and liberty of the individuals and sorry for the losses!
This museum will take your breath away. From the pictures and videos to the exhibit pieces themselves I was in awe of the tragedy that took place. A great reminder of how simple hate can grow into millions of deaths. If you watch all the videos, you can easily spend four hours here.
May we all learn from the past to never repeat in the future
It's a really sad place but a thoughtful one. Really important because of the history.
This Holocaust Museum is very well done, I recommend to visit the Holocaust Museum in New York City it is incredibly gripping.
This is a great place to see and hear all the stuff that happened, the younger generation needs to go and see for themselves what life is like when things are not right in the world, a must see for anybody living today
One of the most moving experiences I have ever encountered. I spent 3 hours there and plan on returning and planning to spend more time. It is a museum that you experience at your own pace... There is a lot to take in, plan on taking your time.
This is a place that every human being must visit, it gives us a very clear vision of the shame of Germany and an experience that should never have happened.
Make sure you get tickets in advance. Not much to see if you just walk in.
Complete humbling experience. There is things I learned and saw that I had no previous knowledge of before I visited.
I haven't been there her but have read and heard a lot about it and I really want to see it, so does my family I've always been a history nerd it interests me and even though this was a terrible time in history I do see it very interesting to read and see and know about very terrible what happened but it has always intrigued me
You have to visit this place. It couldn't be more relevant than it is today. It is a difficult place to walk through and can get very crowded. You need to obtain tickets (free) for available time slots when you get there as people are allowed in the permanent exhibits only in batches. And carry your glasses and some napkins with you as you will be reading a lot and crying a lot.
This was a very moving and educational exhibit. Plan for 2 plus hours here!
I consider myself an avid museum visitor and one of the qualities that often differentiates a good museum from a great one is the flow and management of your visit. The louvre for example is horrid in this regard, the US Holocaust Memorial More
Information is laid out very well. They do a good job of making things "interactive" and real, like the railcar and the original cobble street from a ghetto.
The history here is amazing and gives a great experience.
A Super amazing place. A place where I could feel the history and feel what happened to many many innocent people by lowlife and crazed persons.
An amazing place! You will be left in awe. What a travesty to humanity
An amazing reminder. Everyone should visit this museum and then visit the Museum of African American History and begin at the Lower level. It will give you a different perspective.
Very informative and educational. Having taken history as a subject in secondary school, the exhibitions available shone a different light and held a different perspective for me. Spent more time there than expected. I was really tearing up at afew of the exhibits and had to manage myself afew times.
This is a must see for kids - teens especially and it is definitely somewhere I will bring my own kids in time to come. Be prepared to spend at least 3 hours if you want to read, see, watch and experience it all!
Enjoyed taking my daughter to museum and learning all the history that she didn't know and some things that I myself didn't know about our own Government not doing anything. #NeverAgain
Amazing. The complexity of the Holocaust explained with great simplicity. Very detailed.
Very somber and moving museum. Well worth the visit.
Fun experience, little crowded and barely any staff outside of the main lobby to provide assistance.
This is a must to teach our children. They have a children's section about a boy named Daniel....it's still very sad but told the story the way a child could understand.
A must see when you visit Washington DC! The museum has more information, photos, and videos than I ever thought possible. And each one captures your attention, provides more understanding, and leaves you heartbreakingly breathless.
Amazing experience. The museum is very well organised and incredibly interesting and educational. We arrived 2 hours before closing and we barely made it half way through the permanent exhibit. Give yourself plenty of time to explore!
The current exhibit, "They were Neighbors" is exceptionally good.
This is an excellent and well organised Holocaust Memorial Museum. It is easy to walk through and see so much.
You could quite easily spend all day here and not see everything properly.
Come here and take your time.
This museum is very moving and the immersive learning experience is a great touch. You get the story of a Holocaust survivor or victim and follow their story throughout the museum. Plan a half or full day for this one.
A really good place to visit and learn about the Holocaust
Free? Wow! Very heavyhearted visit but extremely well done and a fantastic museum.
I don't understand the point of having the museum if people can't actually see the exhibits. Yes, it's free to enter the building, but unless you have tickets for the exhibits, there's no point in going.
Stunning must-see in DC, exceeded only by visiting actual death camps (I've been to Dachau) and Yad Vashem in Jerusalem.
Here is nothing cool. It a very intense place where history is alive. I never saw so many people crying in a museum (i was one of them (german)). You will need a full day and there is nothing that can top it.
Very informative and truly sad to see what happened in that time. To know what those people went through and feel their pain is heart-wrenching. You feel the sadness and you feel the emotions surrounding not only the adults but the kids. As soon as you walk in it's a time Warp but it's so informative and such a lesson that everyone should experience
Amazing experience. Another must visit museum in DC. The experience provided by the museum arrangement sunk you to the story and reflection about one of the most terrible humanity tragedy in history.
Very powerful. Only drawback was the crowds. Lots of school groups which made it difficult to see some parts of the exhibit. Worth seeing when in DC.
USHMM is not just an impressive and powerful museum but also does important historical research on the Holocaust. Visit this museum and never forget about the cruelty and insanity of mankind so it never happenes again.
Incredibly touching and well-done. The permanent exhibit covers the Nazi rhetoric and the horrors inflict upon Jews, Gypsies, gay people, political prisoners, and others while emphasizing the importance of acceptance and remembrance. However, the museum also shows the sheer bravery of those who resisted and the resilience of those who survived. It s one of the most popular museums in DC, so I recommend buying tickets online.
Provides enough details throughout the years, from the rise to power of Nazis to liberation. In addition you can listen to people stores as well.
This place is heavy duty. For obvious reasons. It was pretty crowded, and loud as well as hot, I would highly recommend going outside of peak times or tourist season
A very eye opening museum. I learned more there than I did in school. I love the concept of being given a real person who went through the Holocaust and going through the museum and seeing if they survived or did not. It really brings the museum more depth.
This is a powerful experience here I took my kids when they were younger and I probably wouldn't do that again. But there are some good kids exhibits but then there are some that are just not appropriate for kids very very humbling summer experience here to those that lost their life by such wicked dictatorship.
Really good at explaining some of the experience and emphasizing what a tragedy it was.
Anybody who gives this a bad review just doesn t take the time to read. Be prepared to spend a couple hours reading everything but amazing information and just a great place to learn about history!
The opportunity to listen to and meet holocaust survivors is amazing.
This place moved me to tears several times, and yet I will return.
Never forget.
Get there early and go to the permanent exhibit, it is well worth it.
Interesting museum ... definitely to be recommended! Free entry!
Be emotional ready to really spend quality time here.
