The museum is excellent, I highly recommend visiting.
The museum is excellent, I highly recommend visiting.
During Winter until end of Feb, no tickets required. It was an amazing journey back in time. It was heart breaking though. They have an exhibit that shows experiments done on the jews which were disturbing. They audio and video clips of the survivors testimonies too. It felt real.
I visited for free while in DC for the marathon over the weekend. I was able to have the honor of talking to a holocaust survivor. I saw a couple of the secondary exhibits and was only able to see about 1/4 of the main exhibit in the nearly 3 hours I was there. I wish I had time to see more as everything was very well done and interesting. I had to leave to grab lunch well before I could finish seeing everything. I loved the place.
Amazing memorial of the people and places involves in this time period. Accurately reflects history.
I believe everyone should visit this museum and take the tour at least once. It's important to know what happened in our past, and make sure something of the like never occurs again.
Love this place. The history of the Jews is so sad, the inhumane way they were treated
Besides the Daniel's Story tour, there is really nothing there.
This is the most thought provoking and powerful museum I have ever been to. This should be mandatory for all Americans
Great museum ... always hard to get through. #NeverForget #WhatIDoMatters
Very informative and well done museum. The staff was professional and courteous.
Very well done. Worthwhile seeing, but very moving and depressing.
Do your research - you HAVE to get tickets ahead of time, or show up extremely early in the morning. If not, there really isn't anything to this museum. Was extremely disappointed.
Great educational experience for the kids , s constant reminder of the brutality of populism
Incredible and Emotional! Get your tickets months or days in advance as it sells out quickly. They also offer 600 tickets at the door around 9am, so get in line by 8am and you should be able to get in same day. Once inside, prepare to spend several hours...and bring your Kleenex.
This museum was extremely informative with great attention to details. Security at the door were detailed oriented and made you feel safe entering. Not recommended for young children. I appreciated nothing was sugar coated! I LOVE how they have survivors for people to talk to!!! Just make sure to set aside at least a couple hours if you want to truly learn.
This amazing memorial really puts everything into perspective. Focuses not just on concentration camps, but also Hitler's slow rise to power and the unknowing support of citizens and their unwitting role in pathing the way to genocide. A must visit for people today.
This museum gives you a look into some darker history, it was really well put together and lots of information
There should have more histroy about holocast around the world, not only about Nazi and some Khamar Rogue.
As I recall a small replica of the Holocaust Museum in Israel, it is very well decorated with articles from the era
It is pretty grim, however worth a visit to learn about the history. There's a lot of interesting information. The building and inside is beautiful and it is a large museum.
Powerful experience, everyone should explore this site.
Unbelieveably thorough and moving exhibition of one of the most horrific events in modern history. The children's section treats the information with integrity while presenting it in a way that children can understand the topic and grasp the enormity of the issue. A must see while in D.C.
A difficult visit because of the reason for the museum. Exhibits are well organized. Excellent staff! I took the bus to avoid parking hassles.
This is a must see attraction for DC. During peak touring months you must have tickets to see the permanent exhibit. You can buy tickets online ahead of time (check website for ticket opening dates) or you can buy tickets day of starting at 6am. If both those fail, you can stand in line ( lines start forming at 8am) and then it's first come first serve for tickets when they open at 10am. In the busier months they normally have survivor talks on Friday. The stories they share truely will open your eyes. Don't forget to check out the traveling exhibits in the basement (they normally are very good). Bring something that you can wipe your eyes with or blow your nose-you'll need it!
Very informative permanent exhibition, took me at least and hour to make it through! More smaller exhibits on the ground floor and below
Beautiful museum. Just felt a little rushed because it was very busy. Wish I could of spent more time viewing each and every part of the self guided tour without feeling like I was "hogging it" from people behind me. But I loved it otherwise. It was a heartbreaking and enjoyable educational experience at the same time.
I started crying while going through this hauntingly beautiful museum. I definitely do believe that it is a place everyone must see at least once in their life. The trip is well worth it, especially with the original train car used to transport victims to Auschwitz. I simply could not give this museum enough praise.
It is important that you go online and download your free pass or come by 9 am to get one.
Everytime I visit, there is something else that strikes my attention. Very well organized museum, a place everyone should visit multiple times.
A definite eye opening exhibit! Could not believe what history class refused to teach. This place is a MUST, if you're in the area, to visit! By the end of the exhibit and all the history learned I doubt that there was a dry eye on anyone leaving! A lot to see in just one visit and would definitely come back again, even if to only remember those that went through absolute hell.
One of the most chilling places I've ever visited. Truth.
Words cannot describe this experience. It will stick with you long after you leave the museum's doors. Plan for around 3-4 hours to give you enough time to take everything in.
A place of remembrance. Today there are many that have closed their eyes to what happened in the past and is still occurring today. With the many exhibits, documents, and living survivors, the Holocaust museum will give you a wakeup call.
A reminder of how easily these things can happen and why it shouldn't ever happen again.
We only got through a fraction of what is there. It was well done. Alarming to see pictures. Recommend people see this.
Definitely worth visiting...soooo much information that rarely gets taught in our history classes
What an awesome place. The history the story behind it all is very sad but wow. Definitely could spend a long time there.
My absolute Favorite Museum. For the sake of your psychology I will spare you from pictures of all the horrors that were inside the Museum. We went mentally prepared, I advise you to do the same when you visit if you haven't yet. It's not a place for those who can't handle being reminded of such tragic events and not faint at the site of the explicit scenes. It is a great reminder to never let these events reoccur in any shape or form.
It is an experience that everyone needs to have at least once. Remembering the hard parts of history is crucial to making sure we don't repeat the same mistakes.
Very somber, but incredible museum.
Waited in line for 20 minutes to get in. There were no tickets available, but my group and I received military passes at the information desk to gain admission to the permanent exhibit. Only one member of a party needs to be military for all to use this benefit.
Overall amazing experience.
My heart cries. I'll never gorget nor will I let anyone on my path to forget.
Very detailed and exhaustive. Was a little depressed at the end.
A haunting yet beautiful tribute to those who perished or were affected by the Holocaust.
Beautiful experience. Planning to go again in the future.
A very sentimental place, it makes us see a part of humanity that is terrifying, I would like to have more time to visit this museum more calmly. Try to look for your lockers on the Internet so that they do not have problems at the entrance, at the end tickets but it will be more difficult
This place is very depressing but it is also very informative. I would definitely recommend you go here if you want to learn more about World War 2. They also have these little cards they give you that tell a story throughout your walk through the museum and at the end it will tell you if you lived through the war or if you died. I would not recommend this place for younger children as there is sensitive content but if you would like to educate your child just be aware of the explicit content.
So much to see, allow plenty of time so you dont have to rush, 2.5 hours was definitely not enough time.
Very big let down, when you get in they only have memberships left the day we came. Nice 80% of the museum is only available if you join before seeing it. Worst than the street people at least you expect it from them.
Great conveyance of information necessary for understanding and remembering the horror and lasting impact of the holocaust. Great exhibit of young boys life before and after WWII made it easy for our 8 and 10 year old boys to understand the history of holocaust victims in a more personal level.
This one, is one of the most amazing museums in DC, if you are in the area visit, it s free .
One of my favorite museums in DC.
It is so emotional and so well detailed. I believe noone can walk through here without literally feeling like your going to combust with Tears. A beautiful museum and a must do if your traveling through
This place is very nice to see everything is good.
Your visit will be unforgettable and thought provoking. Make sure to add this stop to your DC list.
The history is layed out chronically and is easy to follow. Very well done.
Alot of the artifacts i was expecting to see were not present!
Very pretty. And sad for all the history they went through. Children and the separation of families. Of the Holocaust.
Amazing you actually can feel like you were there in spots the smells were erie at times
Would give it a 5 but crowds are crazy here... Could hardly walk through some sections which made it hard to "enjoy".
Very well done museum that does a good job of adding a deep, personable historical experience to those who lost their lives. Hours of content here. Highly recommended
An extremely great learning experience. Every one needs to go at least once. It's not "fun" because of the topic of the musuem, but I think it's important.
It is hard to describe the feelings when going through the Holocaust museum
Really moving glimpse into the history of holocaust
The story of what occurred is laid out beautifully. It's important that we never forget. Everyone should visit.
Such a humbling and beautiful place. I cried walking through. I would go again and recommend this place for everyone.
Great for explaining the dangers associated with genocide. Not just for the Jewish people during WWII, but also the dangers of ignoring genocide to people all over the world.
Dont bring the kids. Mine were board. i loved the museum. will go back with out them
