Shocking, interesting and accessible museum for all, having sections for children (the story of Daniel) and another for adults with many testimonies, videos ... and identification cards to know first hand the story of one of the people who suffered this terrible event. Also, it's free.

A definite eye opening exhibit! Could not believe what history class refused to teach. This place is a MUST, if you're in the area, to visit! By the end of the exhibit and all the history learned I doubt that there was a dry eye on anyone leaving! A lot to see in just one visit and would definitely come back again, even if to only remember those that went through absolute hell.

If you're in DC this is a must to see. Make sure to go early and get tickets because by the end of the day there is a chance they might not have any left. Tickets are free so there is no excuse to not go and learn a vital part of history. There are many exhibits and dedicate a good chunk of time to really be able to take in all of the information that they have to offer.

This was okay, alot of what it you learned about in history class at high school. The exhibits are pretty good. Some of the photos are very sad...I was emotional over the hospital that would do the killing of children. There is one exhibit that is a little shocking, the shoes of the victims that were executed. See my pic.

This is one museum I never, ever wanted to visit.
Growing up I had read and seen more than enough to appreciate the horrors that man can bring upon man.
Diane, my Dear Wife, needed to see it; so see it we did.
It is brilliantly laid out, and tells the story, history and horror of the era.
A must if you think that WWII Germany was anything but a nightmare; it was a bloody nightmare, even more so for those poor souls that lived and died during it.
Very serious security going in too!

The only thing that would make this experience even better is if they staggered small groups. It was so crowded at the beginning, you really couldn't stop and read everything. But this museum is a MUST! Heart wrenching and beautifully done.

This is a very raw and moving exhibit of one of the worst atrocities in the world. Seeing the shoe exhibit raised so many emotions in me and the parallel sentiments expressed by so many today - if you are not one of us you don't belong here. I did not take any photos because I don't think photos do the exhibit justice or honor all of the moms, dads, children, sisters and brothers who lost their lives or families to this great tragedy.

The Holocaust Museum is simply amazing-- it leaves you speechless. There are so many intricate and illustrative exhibits. Because of the nature of the Holocaust they can be rather disturbing but the museum does a fantastic job of accurately depicting the events that took place. If you really look through the museum, it can definitely take you more than a few hours. Lines tend to move at a decent pace and I recommend coming earlier in the day!

A harrowingly beautiful tribute to those that lost their lives and suffered as a result of the Holocaust. The museum itself is absolutely fantastic, one of the best museums I've ever had the privilege of going to. Be warned: tickets are incredibly difficult to get, so I recommend going on their website and pre-ordering them. I'm not sure whether there is a cost to reserve it, but I figure it's better to pay a small fee than not go at all, it's definitely worth the small fee. The exhibits are fantastic, going into great detail about one of the worst times in recent history (see my pictures for a good selection of what there is within the museum). If you're one who likes to read most everything, I'd say this museum will take you about 4-6 hours (there's that much stuff!), but if you're a skimmer you'll spend about 2 hours here if it's your first time. I love this museum with a passion and I encourage everyone visiting DC to give it a look!

This museum is free. We had a large group and had to wait with the three adults to get tickets. It was well worth it. Dedicate a few hours of time to make sure you have enough time. This is a must stop for all that visit DC.

A must-see place in DC. Really drive home the feeling of what these poor people went through. Even if you think that you know about the Holocaust, you will find things that you never imagined.

Want to reflect on both how horrible and resilient people can be? This is the place for you. Want to ponder how easy it is for an entire people to look the other way in the face of atrocities? This is the place for you. Please visit...you will never think of Syria, Myanmar, or any modern persecuted people the same way.

To start off, Security was less competent and less reasonable than airport security. Then, to get tickets is an almost impossible process. Overall an underwhelming experience for a Smithsonian.

Meaningful and substantial museum. There are exhibits that are also child-friendly. Make sure to reserve a timeslot online before you come: the museum is appointment-based for the main exhibits.

Very beautiful museum relating the holocaust but not only. Because it also reserves a part on other moments of the history which in the end can be comparable.
Very beautiful reports, historical pieces, photos, testimonies and many more are to be discovered.
Especially since the museum is free and therefore leaves a door open to those who are not very museum.
Remember to book a passage time or come a little before the opening, they give free tickets without reservations in limited quantities.

This museum is not just a visit, it is an experience. I was moved by it and needed few minutes to collect my feelings and thoughts after the tour. I liked the little creative details they have every where. The happy ending was stated as the creation of a new nation to compensate all those who suffered, which hides part of history. You build your happy ending by putting others in suffering. I wish the end of the tour was different.

Going to the memorial was like getting lost for nearly 4 hours, in the best way. The way the museum is set up it makes you feel like the outside world has fallen away and the only thing left is you and the memorial. It was an incredibly moving experience unlike anything I have seen in a museum setting. I learned a lot, felt a lot and came away more committed to being a good person and helping my fellow man. This is a place everyone needs to visit if they come to DC.

Super cool museum. It's free, but to see the majority if the exhibits you need a ticket (also free,) but you need to acquire a few days in advanced. We did not know this so we only got to see part of the museum.

This is a Holocaust museum. You will be emotionally moved by it. Seeing the name of my family's village on the wall brought me to tears. Young children will not understand what is going on and may not appreciate gravity of the setting. Once old enough to understand, children should be brought so that they can understand the darkness of humanity.

Learn how to live our Short life to sharing with each other learn how to laugh leran to keep the world from the our next generation. As someon said, we just borrowed the world from our children.

Truly the best museum I have ever been in. From the first moment workers made it a personal experience and communicated the story. Each room and exhibit was incredibly thought out from floor to ceiling.

Because of this it was a truly humbling, reflective, and moving experience.

Everyone visiting DC must go here.

So much information and history. Brought me to tears. We spent the entire day here and still didn't see everything. Will definitely make another visit. I brought a Prisoner ID bracelet in memoriam of that horrible event in history. I encourage all to visit this museum and the AFAM museum as well.

This an amazing tribute museum. A must see for sure but be prepared to spend several hours here. Great for middle school age and up. Younger children will like be bored as most of the museum requires lots of reading.
