The attention to detail from how Hitler came into ...

The attention to detail from how Hitler came into power to the liberation is almost overwhelming. I loved how the monitors that showed graphic details of the Holocaust were set in such a way with signage to let you know that graphic details were eveniyng shown and viewers could decide if they wanted to see that part.

The whole museum set up subconsciously make you feel like you could understand how the people felt being wrangled up and marched through. They have survivors there telling their stories. It is one of the best museums in DC.

Plan to spend 3-4 hours there to see and hear everything.

Amazing. Evocative and Thought-Provoking.

Amazing. Evocative and Thought-Provoking.

I'm so so glad I went. The exhibits, while mostly comprising photos with descriptions, did an excellent job of portraying the holocaust. The experience was surreal and haunting while also sobering. The curation is amazing. Really well-done.

This is a popular museum so tickets for the permanent exhibition run out quickly. I only managed to get a 4.30pm timed pass on the same day. You can avoid disappointments by checking online (same day tickets) first. The pre-booked tickets cost $1. The special exhibits which do not require tickets are super impressive too. In fact, I think I got more emotionally roused from that.

Really an awesome museum, even for a non-museum person.

"Think about what you saw" - The slogan of the Holocaust Museum and you can not put it more aptly. One would like to say it personally to every visitor at the exit. An absolutely intense and "unpleasant" museum, which brings closer to the visitor the atrocities of the Nazi regime objectively and without any sense of sensation. A place to think and never forget. Mandatory visit for anyone who masters even the rudimentary reflection. He often had a lump in his throat. Absolutely worth seeing and to recommend. And as always in Washington: Free.

I'd say this is the best museum in DC.

It's an experience and I mean that in so many ways. You'll be emotionally drained by the end so don't think of it as just another stop on your tour of DC free museums.

It'll leave you shaken. But you'll be rewarded.

The museum feels like a very long documentary, with walls of text and black and white movies. It does not try to make history appealing to younger generations, and does not use use the shock of the holocaust well. Also, as it was crowded, even were it was interesting there was way too many people in front for me to read and take in what was being presented. I can only recommend this museum to history buffs. If you want your children to learn about the holocaust I suggested you do it at home.

Sobering place to visit very crowded a lot of reading involved. Had to wait to read each plaquered fair amount of visuals that brought home the horrible a tragedy. The movies only showed in early day so if you had a 330 pass and on you were not able to see them so we had no mention of Anne Frank.

Amazing, unbelievable, learned more than my heart could handle. We thought 3hrs was enough time, but due to the want of reading all the information we didn't have enough time to see the last half in depth. Not sure if audible sets are available, if so I would highly recommend. We'll be back for sure.

Was kind of boring, not going to lie. I had to walk 24 minutes to get here, only to slowly trudge through a museum that was entirely black and white, with most of the videos on the walls not having any sound, so the halls were weirdly quiet and loud at the same time.

I nearly skipped the whole thing. I could have saved the time and just watched a couple documentaries. Not my favorite. Some displays were cool. People walk deathly slow, so it takes forever to get out. Beware.

Beautiful design and well thought out placement of exhibits. Extremely touching place. **Please dont try to take a selfie while others are trying to view/read. Staff is very informative and if you are fortunate, you might meet a survivor and get to hear first hamd accounts of what happened durimg the Holocaust.

I loved this place and the message that surrounds it. The one I saw was Daniels s story I loved it. I had some friends with me we got scared. Overall it was really good and the message is amazing. It really shows you what his house was like and the ghetto, and including the constration camp .

A stunning part of history no matter what your religion. Immediately you are emotionally connected to someone who went through this horror, you view photos, videos, and most strikingly see and touch actual objects from the Holocaust. So much to see, so I will definitely go again. Compliments to all involved in this amazing experience. No cost to see this museum.

So difficult to be objective about this. The memorial hit me harder than I expected having watched a number of excellent documentaties on the holocaust. I appreciate the thought and care that went into creating the experience but the crowding and general lack of consideration offered by others there, was an unwelcome distraction. I think we should have gone earlier in the day.

This was an experience unlike any other. Really drives home the plight of the Jewish people in Nazi Germany. Very informative and packed with tons of displays and personal belongings. Very humbling.

Don't miss this museum. It was wonderful to see/learn more about the Holocaust. Once you have visited this Memorial Museum you will truly have an appreciation for what really happened during that time. Although very tragic and sad, it is well worth the visit.
