Just. Go. Take the time to read, listen learn and soak it in. It's a lot. And it's worth it. I love the prayer/reflection/mediation space at the very end. It's an amazing way to take in such a terrible event in our world's history.

Great and memorable experience. Very humbling and touching, one of my favorite museums in DC. Took me longer than expected to finish the museum but very informative and objective as well.

So glad we added this stop to our tour of DC. As you can imagine the atmosphere is very sobering. The exhibits are tastefully done and thought provoking. It will give you an appreciation for the scope of the tradgedy that is the Holocaust. A testimonial to the streingth of the human spirit.

The architecture of this museum is phenomenal, but NOT A MUST see in my opinion, I have a great appreciation for other cultures and their hardships but if you CHOOSE this over another museum you are going to be sadly disappointed. But they do have a FREE COAT and BAG CHECK!!!

If you're going to this museum, you know that it will be emotionally heavy. They have some really great visualizations for what life was like for Jewish men, women and children during that time and transitions from the guettos to camps and then back into society. There are also some stories of those men and women who helped keep people in hiding.
I think the worst part of this museum were the crowds of young students who weren't very aware of the surroundings- the other museum attendees and the seriousness of the museum itself. Not a fault of the museum, but something to consider when coming here.

A must see for everyone! It s unimaginable that something like this could happen in our world, in our time. But it did and still does. The exhibits will stay with you and the quiet throughout, even though there are 100 s of people with you, is haunting. We must do better and you leave this location knowing that you will try.

In one word: humbling. This has historical information that you won't find in your typical high school text. A wall of people honoring those who helped Jews shows a couple that I am related to, and I had no idea it was there. Make sure to see the information booth if you are a veteran before getting tickets. This museum is free of charge. We spent hours there, and We still didn't see anything. Definitely top 10 to visit in DC.

A beautiful memorial for all those who went through the Holocaust and a wonderful place for families to learn about the Holocaust. Such a great learning experience and a great place to learn about the history of our world. The walls that they have around the graphic videos and pictures allows for people who don't want to see those things feel a little less pressured to look. It was a great trip.

Visited for my second time in life 18 years after my fist visit as a child. I had kept fond and informative memories of the museum and its cause. My husband had never been so on this visit it was his first and we took it slow and appreciated the history it had to offer. The place was clean with friendy and amazing staff. If ever in the city i woild definitely recommend a stop in.

If I could give no stars I would, this place is great if you want to be treated like a Jewish prisoner during WW2. I felt harassed the whole time especially during one specific incident where my friend was sitting on a bench and I was standing in front of them, I had a ball in my hand and tossed it to them when it fell between her arms a large bald African American guard came up to me and said "THAT ISN'T GOING TO ROLL IN HERE! IF YOU PLAN ON PLAYING GAMES I CAN TAKE YOU OUTSIDE!" The information is good but the staff is poor I also was patronized by the security as were my friends we were repeatedly asked to step back through the metal detector and when I went to get my phone out of the basket I asked a guard to please hand me the basket that was over 5ft from me and she said "you can get it yourself!" Which I indeed could not do without pushing people aside. Very dissatisfied will not recommend or return

A must see by every human on the planet, but a warning that it is very emotional. Not appropriate for youth until they are mature enough to understand and deal with the Carnage. Why see it? To understand, remember and hopefully prevent a repeat of such events in the future.

Please, all humans, this is something you really need to see. It is intense and impactful and good. This museum helps to put the holocaust in to perspective and scale. The intensly graffic images and films are set apart so children or people who are sensitive won't see without looking. Plan to spend 2 hours or a bit more here. This isn't a museum you can rush. Also the air conditioning is intense and a light sweater might be a comfort.

If you're like me, you've read much about the Holocaust already. I didn't learn a ton during my visit, but nevertheless it was moving. I very much enjoyed myself. The Syria exhibit was particularly interesting, timely and inspiring (in a painful way). Everyone should visit this museum. No one should ever forget.

A really well put together museum honoring the lost. They just came out with a new exhibit America during the Holocaust . I think it s also an important museum to take your kids and turn it into a learning experience.

It was way crowded when I went, especially on the top floor of the tour, but it thinned out on each floor down. I spent around 2 hours here but could have easily spent longer had it not been so crowded. There is a lot of information here and each exhibit is very powerful. I'm glad I went.

An incredibly moving journey through a tragic and ...

An incredibly moving journey through a tragic and heart wrenching era in history. The United States Holocaust Museum does a masterful job of guiding you through the rise and fall of Nazi Germany and the atrocities they committed along the way. The museum is structured in a way that helps attendees grasp not only the overall overarching story behind WW2 but countless individual stories that complete the experience and hold the true emotional impact .

The museum is multi level and anyone seeking to really enjoy it should accommodate to spend a large portion of their day here. Beside posters of information on the wall, there are numerous historical relics and video/audio booths that run for 5-15 min with the next showing starting exactly 1 min after the previous one ends. Thankfully, my girlfriend and I visited on Jan. 24, which happened to be the March for Life, so we encountered little to no foot traffic until about 2 pm. With that said, we arrived at the museum at 12 and even with those 2 hours practically alone we still spent nearly 5 hours in the museum in order to read and enjoy everything they had to offer at our own pace.

The museum security were very thorough and quick. Admission was free and during the month of January there is no need to book a time slot online beforehand. Possibly because it isn't as busy. An absolute must visit museum. Don't forget your tissues because tears are almost a certainty.
